My battery seems to drain really quickly on data and last really long with data off.
I had my screen on the lowest brightness for the full day and had data off for most (75%) of the day.

Same Battery draining issue
Hello,
I am having the same issue of battery draining after installing Epinter's CM 10. I am very thankful to Epinter for detail guide and all the links for download of JB 4.1. I love using JB but only one major issue of battery draining. Even after overnight recharging of the battery, it only charges to 78% and not 100%. I am also learning all the settings of JB 4.1 I am looking for task manager to autostop background apps which are consuming battery and preventing my phone to go to sleep.
Members' guidance will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Try this method. This resets stats and after that it should keep charging to 100%

ICS Passion v11 battery life is horrible for me

I was running bionix from before I decided to switch. I flashed back to stock via Odin and flashed to ICS Passion v11. It's an excellent ROM but my battery life is abysmal. Just texting for 5 mins drains it about 8%. I have to charge my phone 3x a day in order to keep it alive. Really like this rom so does anyone have suggestions on what to tweak or disable to fix this?

Yeah same for me.. I had to buy the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4g 1800mAh battery.. It solved my problem. You can get one on amazon for like 20 bucks. It's totally worth it. For some reason the 1500mAh battery gets random drains on this ROM
It's not just this ROM. I have noticed it on all the ICS Roms. Some of the apps are not configured properly for ICS yet, thus the battery drain. When you re-install your apps using Titanium Backup try not restoring data.
Bump for possible solutions. The new battery is a good idea. I hear so many people claiming battery life is superb and mine is far from it. I never restored apps with titanium backup either. Everything was clean slate
When I was running ics, i had a few times where my phone would not deep sleep. I just reinstalled and it seemed to correct it.

When I first installed Passion V11 my first full charge only got me about 8 hours of use. I installed BetterbatteryStats and CPU Spy, and Battery Monitor Widget. I looked at the logs and saw that Beautiful Widgets was causing alarms and kernel wakelocks almost non-stop. After identifying the problem app and uninstalling it, my phone still has 70% battery with 24 hours of use.
You guys just need an 1800 mAH battery. The thing can last me a day and a half with no charge (assuming I put it in airplane mode at night). You can find it for $10-20 on Amazon or eBay.
To get best battery life all you need to do is "Charge Cycles"
For ICS Passion v8,
Charge Cycle means completely charging your phone too 100%, reboot and LET IT DRAIN UPTO 0%
Now charge it to 100% again without interuption and then reboot.
This is one/first charge cycle. Also get unused toggles off and remove unused widgets.
I would add that you need to go into Clockwork Mod manager by rebooting your phone, selecting advanced, wipe battery stats, repeat after drain to 0 and recharge to 100%

Best way to get the most out of your battery, hands down (although I never let it fully discharge. Got pegged once on another phone and it never held a charge again. My own superstitiion though b/c it was an entirely different manufacturer).

This has been debunked but I still believe in it and what I have seen from my own personal experience.

[Q] Battery drainage CM7-MIni pro

Battery drainage for cm7 fxp115
I installed it yesterday and fully charged it
by morning it was at 39% :-\
im postiong the screen shots or bettery battery stats..
Well the battery drainage depends on a lot of things like services running on the background or sync services enabled etc. But you can also try this kernel and see how it goes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549221
I have been testing the 2.7 kernel since yesterday
And sync is off
As You can see ...the battery usage is from Gps location service
and the graph shows that the phone was awake always :-\
Well then shuting down the GPS when it's not needed should lower the battery usage of the rom
Settings>location&security>use gps---off
i already tried it
cant figure out what it is using
Well once again I recommend you to try with the kernel I posted before and well report the issue on the roms original thread as it may be a bug the developer can fix on the next release.

[Q] Resurrection Remix 1.9.1 battery drain

so as im a new user and i can't post in half of the forum, but i've still got this urgent question/ point to ask, here's my question:
i recently moved on the new 1.9.1 ressurection remix rom from the 1.3, and aswell changed my kernel to siyah, now lately my battery drains preety quick (yes i did burn it down to 0% and charged it over to 100% few times), but here's the thing, when once i had issues with screen burning 30%-45% of my battery, now it's lying low on 10%-20% while the real issue now is the "Android OS" which goes as high as 60%-70% of my battery, i've been trying to calibrate the battery and reset battery stats and discharge and recharge couple of times, but this just keeps going on... any way to solve this?

OK! I've read your situation. This is the only thing that I can recommend. Try installing a Gingerbread rom and see if the issue persists. If it does then some of your application could be the culprit behind the battery draining issue. But again, thats just a guess...And if it is one of your applications that is causing the drain then you should install bettebatterystats from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Then charge your battery to 100% and try a new calibration method, maybe you haven't heard of it. But if you charge till 100% then take out the battery for exactly 3 minutes and put it back in and power up your phone and use your phone normally as you do and then at 20% or lower go and check betterbatterystats and see what is causing the most of the battery drain.
Have a great day and good luck with the battery drain, hope this helps!!
Did you check the ROM FAQ about battery draining?
Please check it out. There is also an example of making some changes using extweaks which comes installed by default with ICS Resurrection 1.9.1.
Here is the link to FAQ.

i did read about the new method today, but havent had the chance to try it yet.
im not sure if it's a certain application that causes it, but in the battery stats it points out "Android OS", i've seen many galaxy nexus users complain about the same problem, even with stock kernel/roms, and galaxy S2 users that moved from gingerbread to ICS. it's logical that ICS will take more battery because of the control over multiple cpus and all this kind of stuff but im not sure how much it is about that "Android OS".
anyway ill try to have this battery calibration new method once my battery will drain out, and im probably not going to go down to gingerbread again because i already know its not gonna persist because i remmember how my phone behaved on GB and that those 2 systems work completely different and i want to solve the drain per ICS and not solve the issue by downgrading back down to gingerbread.
thank you for your time and help anyway

thanks for the link, i haven't noticed too much i havent done yet, they poiny siyah kernel as one of the 3 good 1s that work well with the rom for better battery, and i am testing different governors, clocks and voltages but there's many options so i can't do it all in an instant so it takes time...
thanks for your help

AOKP, ICS Battery life issues..

I've been using the latest gingerbread builds and I'm having great battery life, But I notice when I use AOKP or any kind of ICS rom my battery life isnt so great..
Is there a specific kernel you people are using? and What kernel settings are working the best for you?
Thanks!

Good news that you are not alone. Based on my premature calculation, only 10 out of 100 (that's 10% ) ICS ROM users have good - great battery life, meaning the rest is having worse. Mine is falling into that group. I never have great battery, only so-so and below average.
Also as Nick has mentioned, asking for which best is a NO NO here.
One might be good for me, doesn't mean it will be good for you and vice versa.
Try them all and pick one that best suite for you.
My 2 cents......I know you have read this several times - but battery life is really dependent on a lot of factors - your AT&T signal, rogue apps, data sync frequency, CPU governor etc. etc.
read Entropy's excelled thread on battery drain on this forum.
i tried out a few GB roms over the last few weeks and really did not notice any battery improvement over ICS.
Currently running cMIUI with xxkernel and it is really working out great as in the battery easily lasts for the whole day.
I remember when I was on stock GB I could go upto 2 days on single charge - but that may be due to the battery being brand new. I have read that the battery in SGS2 really degrades fast
I have 2% drain per hour when doing absolutely nothing, screen off, wifi off, gps off during 8 hours overnite.
While someone has reported having only 2% or 3% drain over 8 hours overnite.

Have you tried using "Better Batter Stats" to see what is causing the drain?
I have been using AOKP since Task brought it to us and I average 1% every two hours over nite.
Do you use the Facebook app? That sucker is hungry for your juice.

I got BBS v1.7 for a while, that was absolutely no help.
I installed BBS 1.8 for about a week. Based on their info, I got the "multipdp" along with some other things (such wake-lock) cranked up big time.
I read the Entropy thread, not much help.
Note: Wifi is off.
Maybe 3G/H+ keep toggling for sync process?
I do use facebook! haha. and I havent used better battery stats

I'd also recommend using CPU Spy in conjunction with Better Battery Stats to see if the phone is able to enter deep sleep.
I don't get as good as you. . .I average about 1% or less per hour overnight. But that's with wifi on, periodic syncing of 7 accounts, scheduled backups and cache cleaning going on.

My understanding is multipdp will show when apps are waking the radio to use cell data - each wake instance results in a minimum of 6 seconds of wakelock. Switching to wifi when you are idle "should" eliminate this wakelock.
I could be wrong here...dig into the known battery drainers thread from around the time the first ICS roms were being tried on the i777. There was some discussion of it...it is a renamed version of some other wakelock in GB.

That's what I said, "maybe 3G/H+ toggling".
I believed that if I left wifi on overnite, do nothing, I still had 2% drain per hour.
Let me completely turn off data tonite and see how thing goes.
errrrr I have a huge problem with my battery. I've been testing various ICS roms and kernels(aokp, foxhound, serendipidity, fluxxi Kernel, siyah 3.4.3.,Neak) and all of them with the exception of serendipity w/siyah kernel, drain my battery real fast.
Not really sure what the problem is but when I look at what's been using the battery its most of the time either screen (which is understandable) and android os? I went to bed last night leaving my phone at 100% and woke up to find it at 52%. When I looked at what was using the battery it displayed, 93% android os and only 3% cell standby??(btw Foxhound ICS, Siyah Kernel) Maybe I have to many things updating/syncing?
When I first got my phone, 2-3% battery drain overnight was one of the things that amazed me about stock gingerbread on the i777.
I've flashed alot of roms since then, and so far, no ROM can even touch that stat.

Help with battery drain on ICS

Hey guys, I tried both cm9 nightly and rc2 prefinal but both are giving me lot of wakelocks and phone drains about 25 % in 6 hrs standby, better battery status showed 5 hrs partial wakelock by google event log service, I came from cm7 and did a full wipe before ICS, please help me, tell me if I need to change any setting or is this problem faced by you people also ?
Did you tested battery calibration? I make it every rom change and by now it become always better. But indeed I notified also that ICS is more battery-expensive.
Ics will drain battery .. else try djnoxd ics kernel , its having better battery life than stock kernel
Regarding wake locks, I am not having any problems.. check with your installed apps.
battery calibration is useless, the truth is that you don't need to do it unless you get wrong battery readings
