Quick Note on the antennas - HTC One X+

I have been told by an HTC representative that the One X+ has the wifi antenna fix applied on all antennas.

Yes I have also heard !

Good to hear that

Original One X had antenna and gps issues and who knows what else, but it looks like those issues are fixed in the HOX+

What can be seen on the FCC website is different placements for the antennas, so the antenna arrangement is completely different to the original, so to say the fix is applied isn't correct. Presumably what they mean is they haven't repeated the same design fault with the newly designed back cover?
Regards
Phil

Im waiting for this device. Hope antenna issued have been fixed because im going to buy first day,
Do any body know when it will be launched in India ?

I would like to think that the mere fact HTC redesigned the antenna arrangement is already an antenna fix. We could only wait for reviews for now.

I'm guessing that it's probably also going to have spacers on the motherboard to ensure that the back cover can't press down the antenna contacts, but there's no guarantees.

Major death grip on my HOX+. 4 bars showing on wifi...pick phone up and hold like a phone and it drops to 1 bar then loses signal then back to 1 bar. Set phone on the table and back to 4 bars. Thats a lot of signal drop if you ask me. A lot of people talking about this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=121905255
Here is a video a user from here posted about death grip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IUkbnj5pY0
He did a second video with GS3 that he swapped the ONEx+ for (because the wifi was so bad) and had no signal loss with GS3. I agree with physics but samsung seems to be able to defy physics... Here is his GS3 vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pdg25SRSVq0#!

Andrew,
How are you find the Blackout vs. Elegencia ROM? As you might have figured out from my other posts, I'm most concerned about battery life. I know you had pretty good battery life with Elegencia.

okay this is seriously getting annoying

im losing service all the time
when my phone is sitting there it says 1 bar and 3G
but when i try to use anything that uses internet its cuts off and loses service,
then goes back and says 3bars and using 1x, which works.
So basically it wont connect to 3G and says it only has 1 bar when my sisters works n 3G and says she has 3bars. and when i tether its extra slow since its running off 1x, and it loses service randomly while surfing internet, or texting, or when making a call. but when im on the phone the service never cuts out and shows 3bars
any ideas?
ps happends with EVERY rom

I've had thus problem on occasion also. A ton with cyanogen rom. Seems better on ic3. And also since I used a newer radio. It does still happen though. Kills battery quick when it does.

The radios are a bit of a finnicky thing. Some people love the newest and some love the original.
Location is the most important factor when dealing with reception. You can try all the different radios and see which works best for you. There are threads on these forums with all the different radios attached.
*FYI - Be very careful when flashing radios as you could brick your phone if done improperly.

That is the latest radio, but as I said before some people swear that the older ones work better for them. It doesn't hurt to try others and see if anything improves for you. Here is a link to the radio thread.

If you're not getting good signal reception it could be your rom like someone mentioned. Some roms have signal bugs ive heard. Do you normally get reception and good signal strength when this happens? I see you updated your prl, but one thing that worked better for me was flashing the verizon/alltel hybrid prl. Gives me a much better signal, but some people have reported opposite effects. Cant search too well with tapatalk so I cant give you the link but its on here somewhere.

[Q] Got a Rezound last week, has the recent leaked ICS Build, some questions/concerns

So, I got a Rezound last week, kind of hoped that it would still have GB on it, but found out it had that recent ICS build on there. I didn't think much of it until a couple days ago...
First, I think I know the answer already, but since I have this "leaked build", I'm guessing there's no going back to stock GB? What was upgraded besides the ROM (baseband, firmware, etc)?
Second, people are saying that when I talk, it starts out at normal volume, then sounds like I'm holding the phone about 2 feet in front of me while talking (in other words sounding very distant), and coming back... Now, the only person who has actually described the problem is my dad, who has a Thunderbolt. My wife has an Inc2, and has not mentioned any problems, however she may not know what to listen for, as well as others, etc... I've also tried disabling 4g and using 3g only. I am wondering if this is some kind of radio issue?
Third, the bluetooth doesn't seem to have a lot of range. I have a couple bluetooth devices I use often. The first one is a Panasonic KX-TG6581 cordless phone which utilizes bluetooth on the handset to be used as an extension to the cell phone. On previous phones I got whole house coverage (I live in a single level 3000sq ft home). On the Rezound it disconnects at the ends of the house... I also have a Turtle Beach headset equipped with bluetooth. It seems to work fine when initially calling or getting a call, but then there's there's this weird static (kind of sounds like old dial up negotiating tones?). I wonder if this is because of bluetooth 3.0, but not ruling out the headset and rf/bluetooth interference
Last, even running with the extended battery, unless I shut off mobile data altogether when at home (which I should probably be doing anyway, but coming from other 4g phones I never noticed until now), I can stare it for 5 min and watch the percentage dropping. On wifi, not too bad. Just worried if I'm in 4g all day with no wifi will the extended battery last, say 12 hrs? I have no problems keeping it on AC power when at home.
Hope I didn't sound too noobish LOL... thanks for any suggestions.

if you have leaked ics (3.11.605.22) on your phone, you won't be able to return to stock gb.
how about re-flashing the leaked ics to see if the radio, bluetooth, and battery issues can be fixed.
Did the phone come brand new with leaked ics or did you buy it used

When I got the phone, we did the sale inside a VZW store, the salesperson turned it on, and it was at the Welcome to Android screen... Thought it looked like ICS but wasn't 100% sure (should have double checked, I know)... even the rep didn't check... So, I'm guessing it was a fresh flash? Of course, not knowing exactly where it originally came from... don't know if that would make a difference?

Okay.. I'm a bit confused. Were there earlier leaks that would just let you install on a stock phone? I'm not rooted and saw that it was S-ON when I was in the bootloader?
Is the latest ICS the one that was released around 3/17? I just want to make sure I got the right one here...

Yeah there have been a few leaks. The older ones didn't run so well and didn't have the updated radios or hboot. The RUUs are supposed to be run on a locked phone. They are signed releases from HTC. Yes it was leaked around 3/17. I am on it as are many others and it runs fine.

[Q] EVO LTE a lot of problems/bugs is it true ?? Do you??

Simple question. Probably getting the EVO LTE , but I've heard there are some problems with WiFi or connectivity . I've found some threads confirming that the problems exist.
What are the odds Ill be getting a bad phone? Are these problems just on a few phones or all?
Are those problems something a custom ROM will fix?
Obviously I don't want to get a bad phone. I prefer to wait 1 or 2 months , for a new batch of problem free phones. Then Ill get one, or try my luck.

the problem with wifi connectivity is compatibility with 4 different specific modems, couple of linksys and others, not that the phone is "bad" but sprint knows about it I talk to the tech at sprint store they told me they should have a fix soon..:good: running liquid smooth rom and life is great...
Not one problem so far. Rooted or not, I only rooted it, didn't unlock the bootloader or flashed anything.

I've definitely had problems with WiFi dropping out for no reason. I've had them both before root and after. The device will simply just drop the connection for no good reason.
The only reason I haven't returned the phone is I'm stubborn. I am going to do a nandroid back-up (already used TiBU) and return this device for a different one.
Because I have Best Buy protection, they should just swap it out for a different device. I've had mine since May 25th, the 2nd day of release.
I hope that helps--the rumor is there was a bad batch of EVO's and Sprint/HTC knows it. Fortunately we are not like the poor HOX (HTC One X) users where the only fix for their issue is a soldering iron...

All phones have problems, i wouldn't listen to any one person. Review opinions in this forum and see if the amount of problems are more or less than the competitors. There are a lot of good phones out there right now and not a one of them is a dog, contrary to what fanboys like to say. It also depends what you are coming from. If your current phone is less than a year old you may want to wait it out for a while. I'm not sure any of the choices now are light years ahead of last years group.
I haven't had any issues at all with the phone, except the crappy multitasking.
Oh and don't use the "best WiFi performance" option, it will drain your a lot (35% over 6 hours vs. 3%)
All new phones have bad eggs in a batch. It's the nature of the beast. I personally went through 3 Evo Lte's until I got a good one because of dead pixels. When I got my Evo 3D I got a good one right off the bat, while many others had problems. It doesn't matter what brand it is wether its HTC, Samsung, or even Apple they all have bad eggs.
Sent from my Evo Lte
It is true to a point, I but don't blame HTC I believe a lot of poor signal just simply has to do with sprints known ways of claiming they are top of notch, but truly they are behind in the game ITS THEY'RE SIGNAL THEY'RE TOWERS, there possible merge to lte may be why we see slow data poor signal
When lte goes full blown we who stuck with sprint will have unlimited 4G and those one atat and vzw will have the same 4G but data capped.
That's why it's been slow for years its a waiting game
So I'd start thinking along the lines it's not all HTC it's the networks signal

Possible jb patch in the works

Just returned from taking care of my bill at a corporate sprint store in Detroit Michigan area, and brought up concerns about issues since jb was released. Before I was able to tell my personal issues since the update the couple techs that were at the front door greeting/mingling with customers, told me they have been notified that a patch is being worked on for the Bluetooth, navigation, proximity sensor, wifi and various glitches others have been reporting. This was all said before I even mentioned those issues that myself and others on this forum have brought up. They've even been instructed to stop doing replacement handsets for people with the issues. So to me it sounds like the issues have been noticed/verified finally and HTC/sprint may be releasing something soon. Sounds legit considering the tech's themselves named off the issues and seemed to know a bit about the problems without me saying anything. Figured I'd pass on this tidbit of info and hopefully it becomes a reality.
Update 01/11 called HTC and they have a bulletin that's been sent out that proximity sensor was specifically being worked on (news for stock users at least)..the nav issue the guy said wasn't a for sure thing because it might be a google dropping the ball thing/capatability issue

I have to flash back to an ics rom then back to jelly bean while wiping as little as possible just to get mhl-hdmi adapter to work. And sometimes at that. Most of the time I have to reset the phone 3 times, unplug, plug in cable to phone. It just blows balls! I am about to just go back to ics and stay there. Jelly bean or at least this iteration of it sucks. Not to mention the worse battery life? Why are we excited about jb anyway? It looks good and sounds nice, but it is just like its abbreviation (jb) jailbait!
Does anyone else agree with me or are you all on the google strain of bud? Here's my list of issues over ics: Battery hog! Mhl-hdmi previously mentioned, New usb connection manager screwed my car audio. Have to update busybox everytime I reset just so root explorer displays remaining space in sd card.
I will quit my rant now though I guess. No one at sprint or htc or most the people here even give a rats **** about these issues because i obviously must be a noob who cant wipe and flash a rom properly or my phone has issues so I must be retarded or something. Tired of those attitudes on xda. But thats another topic. Good day to u all!
I updated to JB and I don't have any of the issues you are talking about. After hearing some of your experiences I think I will wait until a patch comes out to update my wife's phone.
I like JB on this phone. Google now is a welcome feature. Initially I experienced shorter battery life, but after adjusting the settings in Google Now I would say my battery life went back to normal or possibly even better than before.
The one thing I don't like about JB is the in scrolling background, but all the pluses more than make up for it.

I just tried mhl/hdmi output for the first time since upgrading and it worked after 1 reboot for the phone and tv.
I'm running choclate beans from the mikmik and am using the most popular cable on Amazon for $9

What settings in Google Now did you adjust to get better battery performance?

Dude. Nice avatar! KZ FTW!
Google Now doesn't seem to drain my battery at all. I'm wondering if the people that it's draining are in weak signal areas?

I turned off any cards that would frequently update.
Ex. Traffic, weather and nearby places
I can't say for sure that these consume extra battery, but ever since adjusting the settings my battery has been performing well.
It's currently at 50% after 12h 36m off the charger with medium use.
I wish they would just fix this dam Proximity Sensor. I hate my calls hanging up when it touches my face and how it wont show the screen when I wish to hang up.
The CM10 proximity fix woked for me.
[MOD] [CM10] Proximity Sensor Fix
I tested using Proximity Sensor Finder before and after. Before nothing happened, after it went from 9 to 0 when covered.
I've seen all those issues the MeanBean Thread.
All 4.1 JB Devices Broke Bluetooth Voice Dial. As far I know only 4.2 fixes it.
I'd be really impressed if Sprint released 4.2 let alone any update.
I posted a [MOD] in the development section to get Cyberon to be the Default when you click the bluetooth button and it works great, better than it ever has and no longer relies on the Network. And I'm nolonger forced to keep my contacts in gmail. I prefer keep them only in my work's ExchangeMail account.
Nav has worked for me so far but I have not used it too heavily.
As far as Bluetooth Reliability during a Call JB is MUCH better. ICS would drop bluetooth headset as I passed WIFI HotSpots.
WIFI has been an issue on this device since day 1. JB release doesn't seem much better or worse, but it does seem different, but usable for me. I've had it get stuck once and would not let go of WIFI as I drove away, which jams the whole phone up until you shut WIFI off.
The Proximity Sensor seems to be a calibration issue. My guess is the OTA update might have accindentally wiped each devices calibration or something. You can recalibrate it. The default cal works for people. I have not had the issue or it's not a big enough issue for me to care.
Well I can verify after getting a couple refurbs because of the jb updates/roms having nav crashes (first refurb to replace my new launch date phone being a launch date activated one with nav crashes and faulty strip in touchscreen), I finally have one that the navigation works flawlessly on so far with several jb Roms I tried....the refurb date on this phone was in December with no usage/data etc....and I was the first to activate the phone (maybe damaged casing on phone etc and never was sold)...so the pattern of newer built elte's seems to be a pattern...at least for me...it was a battle to get a working phone but paid off in the end...

T-Mobile vs Verizon variant comparison

I just picked up another G2- this time on T-Mobile (I guess I missed the phone more than I originally thought I would). I like this variant a lot better than the verizon one I had previously. I like the original button layout much better than VZW's tweaked layout. Also the bluetooth audio problems I had with the VZW version are not as bad on this one. The track listing on the radio is still blank over half the time and sometimes I can't use the radio buttons to skip tracks, but the music never hiccups or stops like the VZW one tended to do and I guess that's the main thing.
Maybe when I root it and throw a newer Android version ROM on there the bluetooth problems will go away.
Either way I'm really enjoying being a G2 owner again and can't wait to see if we get a Nexus 5 ROM to try out soon!
Verizon has Qi Wireless Charging which is a pretty big feature to go without. I just got mine yesterday. I don't know why Verizon can't leave well enough alone with the buttons. The Verizon model being an outcast compared to other models is a pain when it comes to cases. Although the Incipio Feather is there, so thats all I use. But could be a pain for others.
I don't think there are any differences in internal chips or programming so if your experience should be the exact same on all variants. I haven't experimented with BT yet but I haven't heard any issues with it. And you're right that it would probably go away if you used AOSP or CM.
The first one was probably just a dud.
From what I've read on here, Verizon variants are also experiencing GPS issues at a much higher clip compared to the others. Don't mean to pile on but the wireless charging came at some cost. But the development has taken OFF!!

Battery life is another cost of wireless charging (due to heat), probably doesn't matter to people keeping their phone for a year though.

FWIW, my GPS is spot on. I'm VZW, rooted stock, Modem/Radio A, in case that makes any difference.
my verizon G2's GPS seems to work properly but yeah I like the original buttons
