Hello all
I have hardbricked my SGII after a bad flash and will not power on at all, completely black screen. It is not very old and still under warranty so will be sending back to Samusung. They will ask for description of fault. What is the best story I can give them as to how the fault happened.
Thanks for you opinions.
Thanks Lou

ok so i was running SH 3.9.1 and decided to go back to stock so i odined back to jfd and then tried to update with kies and now my phone will not even turn on anyone have any clue on what i need to do or if there is anything i can do
a)did you flash gingerbread bootloaders? If you so and you didn't flash back the froyo bootloaders before using keis your probally f***** up your phone. Need a jtag
b)if you didn't flash any bootloaders just call tmobile and tell them keis f***ed up your phone
c)you could just lie to tmobile and tell them keis f***ed up your phone
seconded... (holds up blank phone)
same issues here, odined JFD, all was working fine, went to update via Kies, and it completed, rebooted, and did not come up after waiting over a half hour
no lights, can't get to download or recovery modes..
Yes you need a jtag, I recently had the same problem. PM connexion2005 and he can hook you up for $50.

lol yeah i see that now and funny thing is i was actually coming from your rom EB.
The "Kies" effed up my phone has got to be the #1 over used excuse. Probably used more often then it actually does, but IT DOES! so its easy to get by with. I'd have to imagine in this situation its bootloader related. People should honestly fess up when they bork up their own device and pay the fee to get it jtaged. Just my 2cents.
As the old Chinese proverb goes:
"You break, You buy!"
I agree with you on that and it probably was my fault it messed up but im also broke otherwise i would of gone that route
one of these days there gonna catch on
Wow..... you guys.... bootloaders for vibrant are backward compatible..... even still.... you could have built a custom jig for $1.19, some scotch tape, and an old car charger. read the stickies yo.... I've had bad bootloader flashes at least 20 times now with odin and my cheap little jig has me back in dl mode in seconds.

I might try that next time but I just got my new phone in now so time to root again and try a different rom or go back to the old one not sure yet.
Majin, you have not had a bad bootloader flash yet. You will know when you do and that jig won't help...

So your saying there is something worse than the "phone-pc!" Sign? Honestly I thought that was as far as it would go. I mean..... what's worse than "fail" while flashing boot loaders?

Oh yea there is definitely a worse step than that screen. It's called NOTHING. Literally your phone is worthless at that point without a good JTAG technician. I see it over 100 times a month... . Not trying to be a smarty just letting you know that there are scenarios in which the JIG is worthless and you will need someone to JTAG there phone. Please remember me if it happens to you as I can fix that although I would never wish it upon you...

Hello all,
yesterday something weiiiird happened to me.
i was changing the screen protector on my phone, once done i notice the phone was off (i changed the screen protector with phone on), so i thought i might have swiched it off without noticing it, but it doesn't turn on anymore.
tried to leave the battery out for a while but nothing
tried to put on charge but nothig
tried my wife's battery but nothing
no lights on the screen at all, completely dead.
just for info i was dualbooting cm9 and official 4.0.3 three operator ics with success, had no problem at all used it for a few days.i removed yellow triangle and reset counter with triangle away app about a week ago, not a sigle problem bu this weird this yesterday.
any suggestions ?? i have a jig but it doesn't do anything (maybe it because i'm on ics??, don't know)
please help guys..
It sounds like a hardware problem and I don't think that you are able to solve it yourself! The SGS2 is a tough phone and very hard to brick and when you haven't changed anything there is no other option than a hardware problem.
Have you tried to enter download mode? Volume up + home button while booting. When this doesn't work there is no way out and you have to send it to a repair service. But that shouldn't be a problem, because they won't be able to boot your phone, too.
Hope that helps!

Be aware if they manage to boot it up and see cm on there it probably will void your warranty and possibly be a costly repair if the fault isnt hardware just a thought. Hope it doesnt come to that for you though

what other choises i have ? it seems it's nothing i can repair on my own .. if paying is the only solution then guess i'll have to go that way..
Its a question = Q&A
Jig boots to download mode in ICS as well as GB.
JTag repair can be cheaper route .

Hello,
I have the following problem and I'm wondering if it is solvable:
My Galaxy S2 (actually from a friend) was rooted and working fine on ICS.
Then I wanted to install a custom rom (Resurrection Remix 3.0.9 Jelly Bean).
It is not my first time doing this as I've did it a multiple times on my own S2.
The same ROM is working fine on my own S2.
Somewhere around 50% of installation, the phone turned itself off.
We did make sure that the battery was fully charged before proceeding with the installation.
Now I cannot Start it.
Can't enter Recovery Mode.
Can't enter Download Mode.
The screen just remains black as if there is no battery in it.
Swapped battery, but still same issue.
It doesn't even show the charging animation when power cable is plugged in.
I have ordered a USB JIG to put it in Download Mode from MobileTechVideos.com but I don't think this will work because there is no sign of life.
It is obviously hard bricked.
What could I do to fix this problem?
Thank you
Sad to say but you have to avail JTAG services to sort this out

Which method did you use? Also, do you have your firmware/baseband/version of ICS the phone was running when this happened? If its the emmc brickbug, dont waste your money on a jig or JTAG. Neither will be of any use.

I don't know the exact baseband version.
The last three charachters were LQ6.
If I remember correctly it was I9100XXLQ6
What exactly is the emmc brickbug?
Is there a solution for this one?

Ah.. ICS 4.0.4?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28388184
There's no solution. Insert he battery and wait for a bit. If it starts to heat up a lot around the camera, I'm sorry to say the phone is utterly useless from now on. Only a motherboard replacement will help.

Thank you HAXTREME.
That's not very good news but at least I know now.
btw yes, it was ICS 4.0.4
I've rooted a couple of android phones without any trouble.
I honestly didn't know that this bug existed even though I searched on the net for the risks before I started it.
I guess Samsung will not fix this under warranty?

Thats why everyone keeps screaming to read up before rooting, mate. Its kinda hard to miss, every third thread seems to have a mention of it. And a sticky in the general section.
Anywho, whats done is done. Bad luck I guess. If you're under warranty, theres hope yet. You can take it to them saying it randomly died out and you have no idea how or why. Since the motherboard is toast, they have no way of figuring out you rooted it (or tried to). Say it happened when you kept it to charge or something. You could get lucky. :fingers-crossed:
Use the thanks button instead of typing out a post.
Hope it works out. Good luck. :good:
If your still under warrenty they usually repair it for you, had mine repaired recently. they will replace the motherboard. Good Luck
My i9100m was having some problems so I sent it in to samsung under the manufacturers warranty. I flashed the stock rom but forget to reset the flash counter. Is this a bad thing and what will happen if they figure out that my phone has been rooted?

i have sent back a alot phones for repairs in past to samsung only 1 time i did the same thing forgot to reset counter... i sent back phone for hardware issue and they still fixed it .... they have 2 departments software and one hardware,, so if going to software not sure what will happen being its a software issue... just cross your fingers .....
No point fretting about it now. Not like you can do anything about it. If they check it, they're well within their rights to deny you warranty service/replacement.
If they don't check it/don't care, then you have nothing to worry about.
Hi guys
I have galaxy sII about 6 months ago
Before 2 months I decided to upgrade it to cm10 and it worked fine .. but after jellybean stock firmware from Samsung released I flashed it via Odin before 22 days
And everything works good and the triangle gone..
Yesterday I tried to play music but there is no sound then there is no sound at all from internal and speaker..
Then I take it to Samsung centre .. they told me that the problem from rooting my phone and the motherboard broke down and it costs about 200$ !!
My question is : rooting and flashing ROMs broke down my motherboard? And my phone is working without any problem except the sound!!
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda premium
No. however, that's completely beside the point. You 'mess' (root or run non-stock firmware) with your phone, you have no business expecting warranty service. Doing so voids the warranty. This is no secret.
You want your warranty to remain valid, you don't mess with your phone in the first place. Simple.

I answered your question, and again - for the slow kids up the back, I'll say it again - no. However, you can certainly wreck the NAND if a flash goes wrong (hard brick). But as I've already said, it's not relevant. They know you've been messing with it, the ruse is up. You're paying to have it fixed.
