Following on from what Ben36 said, would you be able to make this tool so it covers the other Xperia devices? This would be extremely handy for a lot of people.

Technically you can use it now. Just use the 'your own kernel' option. I only said about removing the built in ones because people are stupid and try flash them to the wrong device then blame the developer for it

I tried doing that and it all seemed as if it had worked alright. My device then rebooted and I realised it hadn't actually done anything :/
Did you rename your kernel correctly (caps etc) as it probably needs to be exact and in the same folder as the built in ones I'd guess?
(I've not tried it)

As far as I know I done it all correct, but if it didn't work then I guess not.
I'll have to give it another shot later on.

My script use these commands:
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf
If your phone reboots without installing the new kernel may be that "adb reboot-bootloader" dosn't turn your phone in fastboot mode.... can you try this command separately? it restarts your phone in fastboot mode? thanks!

What phone have you got? Is it the Xperia s?
I think a Step By Step tutorial in the OP would be a great idea to make sure everyone can use this successfully
I believe it is not necessary because you just have to connect your phone to the PC and start the runme.bat :good:

We're asking because I have the Xperia S so it's not the specific device and although it should work, we can't get it to work for some reason.
''Evil corrupts the mind of the weak but fails to feed off the mind of the strong''
I haven't xpera S so I don't know which commands do you need.....
Try to run this command "adb reboot-bootloader" (in the folder with adb and fastboot binaries)
If your phone restart in fastboot mode you have to run this: "fastboot flash boot kernel.elf"
does it work?
Hi im helping Kidcarter93 with his Xperia S using this software.

Don't think gingerbreak will work, since it didn't work on the Arc..
It will probably just a matter of time till Bin4ry releases a new system.img
Anyway, does the like button in the musicplayer work for you guys? For me it doesn't.. Probably because it uses TrackID
would like to create a germany firmware, could you provide me some guides how you get the fw files and pushed them together to a ftf?

First you'll need someone with a locked bootloader to download the fw for you with SEUS. In the blob_fs folder from SEUS there will be 2 big files. You have to decrypt these files with FlashTool. (Advanced -> Decrypt)
After you've done that you have to bundle the extracted files to a ftf file. (Advanced -> Bundle creation)
If you've done that, you should be able to flash it FlashTool
Ok so I surfed for the benefits of the update, but I'm still wondering if it's worth it to lose my rooted device? Does anyone think the battery life is better, wifi stops quitting like it does with .2 etc?
Thanks for the upload either way, I've it ready to rock. Kinda like Dougle from Father Ted with the big red button. I gotsta hit it real soon
Hmm I'm not touching updates unless gingerbreak works :-\

all android phones have a recovery, that might be a folder used for the initial flashing of the firmware. what we're after is a custom recovery (like clockworkmod) so that we can install unsigned/custom packages/roms.

How to flash via phone (Recommended)
Download the ClockworkMod recovery.img below and place on the root of the internal sdcard. Make sure to rename to recovery.img if necessary!
Download Terminal Emulator from the Market
Go into Terminal emulator and type "su" (lowercase, no quotes) and accept the Superuser prompt
Then type this exactly (no quotes) "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22"
If should tell you records in and out and then recovery is flashed!
To get into recovery, you can type (no quotes) "reboot recovery". You can also access it by pressing Volume Down + Power while booting up, and then choose "Recovery". NOTE: You may need to disable Settings > Power > Fast Boot for this method to work.
How to flash via fastboot
I will update instructions later, but if you choose this way, you likely know what you're doing. Make sure to rename to recovery.img if necessary! Place the ClockworkMod recovery.img in the platform-tools (or even tools folder, depending on your SDK version), reboot into fastboot, and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
How to flash stock recovery
Follow the same set of instructions you used above, just download the stock recovery.img below.
Make sure to rename to recovery.img if necessary!

It will still happen if you run the ruu once you root. Seems like it does some check on /system and tells you tampered if its been modified (as in rooting). Don't worry about it.

Omega 3.4 - Aroma fixed
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kernels
Use a .587 based kernel like VDS or Xkernel
For UNLOCKED bootloaders
Connect your Xperia to your PC.
Create a new folder named "UPDATE" on your phone
Copy the downloaded zip to the folder "UPDATE"
Now disconnect from PC and turn off your phone
Turn on your phone again and press the volume down button when the blue LED at the side turns on
Select Factory Reset
Select Advanced
Select Wipe Delvick Cache
Select Wipe Battery Stats
Now press back button to go back to CWM main menu
Select install zip from SDCARD
Navigate to folder "UPDATE", and select the Omega ROM.
Follow the on screen instructions in Aroma and select Arc S as build and reboot when finished.
For LOCKED bootloaders
YOU MUST HAVE OFFICIAL ICS INSTALLED ALREADY
Before trying this method, you should know how to restore Phone using SEUS update for just incase anything goes wrong...
1) Root with 'Root_Exploit_OneClick'.
If you have already Rooted then there is no need to Root again...
If not then Follow Steps Blelow
a) Turn ON USB Debugging mode on your Xperia Phone and
b) Enable Unknown Resources
c) Extract the zip file Root_Exploit_OneClick.zip to your desktop
d) Attach the phone to pc, Open the 'run me' batch file. Phone will restart few 2-3 times and when it boots to Desktop, you will have Superuser application installed which is sign of successfull Root..
2) Install CWM Recovery
Again if you have CWM Recovery installed then you dont need to do this step
If not then just download the Application
Now download 'Xperia CWM Auto-installer' by pvyParts to install CWM recovery: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ
3) Download ZIP
4) Reboot to Recovery by pressing Volume Down key when blue LED light blinks or the Display brights up
5) In CWM Recovery, First do Full wipe and also format system, then install zip and follow aroma instructions and select arc s as build
INCASE THE METHOD DOESNT WORK OR YOU ARE STUCK WITH A BOOTLOOP then JUST RESTORE VIA SEUS UPDATE OR FLASH FTF..
NO-Frills CPU will not work on locked bootloader

Looks like you just unlocked your bootloader... It's standard procedure is to wipe the phone after that.

Great job OP! It only took me 10 minutes from downloading, to unlocking the bootloader and flashing a Custom Recovery. Thanks

Yes, unlocking the bootloader then rooting the device will wipe it. You can perform a back up first though. The advantages of rooting are many, to numerous to list here but put simply it allows you to change just about every facet of the phone.
