Hi all
I know battery life has been discussed quite a bit, but Ive found most, if not all, discussions are "runtime" battery life, not standby..
For me Standby is important as I dont use the TP that much, but when I do I dont want to see the battery a 25% or lower!..
Currently webos 3.0.4 seams to drain around 5-7%/day, whereas Android CM7Alpha3.5, and Xron b2.1 appear to be about 20%!!
I know this is still alpha, but this , and only this, issue is stopping me from switching completely to android...
Any comments??
ps Dont get me wrong I know this is alpha, and the CM & Xron guys have done WONDERFUL things, just thought Id ask..
Anyone tried the new Miui build?? is it based on CM7?
Will CM9 be better considering its Android 4.0 "built for tablets?"
thanks all!
i mean, basic phone stuff still applies here. turn off wifi, etc. certain apps will kill your battery more than others (ie scrabble), even when idle.
idk, i find that it's easier to just shut it down completely if you know you're not going to use it for 8hrs or longer. i leave my tablet on all day when i leave for work and come home to see it about 10% lower, but i don't pay much attention to it.
I been at work all day long 10:30am - 9:00pm... I didnt have time to use my TP at all during any of my breaks so it was in standby the entire time.
When i finally got home and turned on my TP it was at 92% out of the 99% it was at in the AM.
Running Xron 2.2, i cut it down to 130mb, not a single problem yet since I installed it.
Hi guys,
good comments!
@thekillingtree : Yeah powering down is one option, but the beauty of a tablet, you keep it on standby...
@jzen : mm thats not bad, however 11hrs=7%, therefore thats about 15% over 24hrs...
Yes I know "things will" drain the battery when in standby when running in the background, i suppose Im comparing it to things like an ipad (less than 1%/day drain in standby), webos which is ~5%/day in standby and even the NookColor (v1) can go for 2-3 weeks in standby..
anyway, its still alpha for me Im hoping standby time will improve when it goes beta etc..
for now I'll simply keep it "topped" up!
Angelo
i'm genuinely curious how long the standby life will be. i fully charged my tp this afternoon and i'll see later how low it is.
i never really cared since i charge it every day or two.
Firstly you have to remember that the battery status monitor in android is all over the place and can never be accurately relied upon.
Flatten the battery (yes, I know it's bad practice!), then fully charge, wipe battery stats and leave alone until battery is flat again.
Then you get definative battery life, for your device/battery combo.
I know that when im done using the touchpad for a while.... i turn off my wifi.
the battery barely drops when wifi is turned off.
Idea: i wonder if installing juice defender will solve this issue.
--> Juice defender turns off radios and preserves battery life on my android
phone it might do the same on the touchpad. Just a thought i havent
tried it yet
good idea!
Actually yeah, juice defender worked a treat on my htc legend.. might help with the cm7 rom too
Sounds to me like it is not going into a deep sleep. I charged my tp fully last night, went to bed and woke up with 65%. I know this was an issue for cm7 and miui on my Droid x.

For this to be a meaningful comparison, you need to be running the same apps on webOS as you are on Android, and understand how the apps work on each OS (e.g., background processes, network usage, etc.).
The Touchpad has a 6000 mAh battery. According to Battery Monitor Widget (in Android), my TP discharges at about 40 mA while idling with the screen turned off. This is with wifi enabled and whatever background processes are running for the 150 or so user apps that are installed. If I were to just leave the tablet alone, it will drain the battery of 40 mAh in one hour. In 24 hours, it will have drained 960 mAh. 960 mAh out of 6000 mAh is 16%, so that's seems about right.
It's been a while since I booted up webOS, but I recall that the Govnah app will record battery drain as well, so you can see if the current is lower or higher with webOS.
Hi,
is there any possibility to check battery health?
Since flashing JB 4.2.1 weeks ago battery life decreased and is getting even worse. No wakelocks, bbs is looking fine. Tried mcm's cm10.1, official cm.10.1 and Slim Bean RC2 with stock kernel, Siyah 5 and Dorimanx. With light use and less than 2 hours screen on time battery lasts one day. No big difference if reception is good or bad. Media scanner is fine too. The phone is more than one year old.

Plenty of topics on battery, use search.
All those topics are about people who are not able to setup their phones properly, but not about the physical battery
Almost every battey stats app you can download from the market can tell you battery health (very inaccurately).
If you're getting bad battery life though, the chance of it being an "unhealthy" battery are very low. Infact, on every ROM/Kernel you've listed I've had poor battery, I only get a good run on stock - there is way more to battery life than just wakelocks.
i have got the phone with cm 10.1 from a friend so i do not know how it was with the stock version
i want to know if the problem from the battery or the rom also it takes alot of time in chargin aroud 6 hours to complete i also use blackberry charger so whats wrong?
the last issue that i can fing some lag specially when openning multiple tabs or in playing
i use the build 18/1/2013
is there any fix in the performance in the current nightly?
Battery life depends on your usage more than it does on what ROM it is.
If you're playing games for 2 hours on your phone, don't expect much.
If you're on standby and its losing more than 2% per hour, then you need to get BetterBatteryStats, CPUspy and check out which app is causing this.
Using: Omega v43.6 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rom. Stock kernel.
Android system drains battery as much as screen (depending on screen time, more or less). I found some instructions on the internet:
h ttp://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/249962-android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
h ttp://gs3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/reduce-battery-drain-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-by-fixing-android-system-usage-0142361/
I didn't find gsiff_daemon or qosmgr from system/bin/ like in those instructions. What can I do?
Search and read here in xda, plenty of similar posts with lots of exciting things for you to try. Upshot is you have customised your phone to be nearly unique to you, what worked for someone else won't make any difference for you.
Install better battery stats, or similar, try to pin down what is keeping your phone awake.
Change your kernal. A good kernal always increases your battery timings, overall speed and maybe the signals (*depending on the type of kernal u are using)
I have had this phone so little time that I didn't know about its idle endurance. Last night and today the screen was off for 15 hours and the battery dropped only 6%, from 58% to 52%, and I think that's very good. It seems like android system isn't draining battery, it just shows android system over something else.
Hello there, I recently installed CM11- 20141224-Nightly and now I have a serious battery drain issue on my phone. It barely stays 5 hours with minimum usage, like browsing the web reading stuff it stays for about less than 2 hours, and without using it(on sleep) drains from 90% to 75% in 2hours. Because of this I have to charge the phone like 2-3 times daily! Is this something to do with the nightly? I thought of updating it to the new nightly that appeared on the 30th of December.
Will updating my phone into the new Snapshot make things any better? Should I do it?
I tried all kinds of battery fix apps, nothing works. The battery is a bit old though, maybe like 1 and a half years and I dont know how it was like on stock because it was handed to me from someone else. I would appreciate any help please!
FYI my phone is i9100T, after upgrading to CM it became i9100. Heard somewhere its not an issue.
