[Q] samsung galaxy s II sgh i777 flashing start up page - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I turned off my phone yesterday and when I went to restart it all it does is flash the samsung galaxy s II start up page. I have tried to unbrick it and odin says it has been but it keeps doing the same thing. I also tried recovery mode still nothing. What else can I do?

Um factory reset duh?

First confirm that u have a galaxy s ii i777 and not a sky rocket or international version of the phone. Then tell us what rom u were on and what u did exactly to try and fix it.

yea...thats what I have been trying all day seems like you didn't read the question.
Ive been using odin with ATTGalaxyS2Unroot_SGH-i777 it said I could use it to unbrick it and set it back to factory. I assumed that was the problem. the model in behind the battery is sgh-i777. Im not quite sure of the rom.

Just make sure to read and have the drivers and everything properly installed and all that. Also if yer phone isn't recognized by yer comp, try a different usb port. This information is all available in our stickies (the threads we deem in this forum as more important and with helpful and relevant information) so make sure to search thoroughly next time and don't use guides or downloads outside of xda.

As long as you have CWM you can flash any ROM from the DEV section. The best one I have found is AOKP it has the best modem KH7 and is solid... Keep your head uP and don't listen to the punks. GL if you need any help I will do what I can.

Yea, spoonfeeding and opinions are why this place got started.
**** you noobs.
Your first six posts make a rather inauspicious start to membership in this forum. Nevertheless, for your first stated problem in post #1, be patient and wait until you are home. Problem solved.
Now, since you evidently flashed an I9100 firmware by mistake, you need to know whether that package contained bootloaders. You could look in the package to see what it's contents are. Also, try to boot into both download mode and recovery mode. If the I777 button combinations work as expected, then you probably did not flash bootloaders, and the advce given here is good. If you did flash I9100 secondary bootloader, then you can use a usb jig to get into download mode, and the files you need to flash the I777 secondary bootloader are available in the Download Repository. See the link in my signature.
You could also flash back to stock, and start over with modifying your phone if you want. See the other links in my signature.

How do you know what you flashed didn't have bootloaders? So your saying with the phone powered off holding volume + volume - keys, with the USB cable plugged in to your computer and then inserting the mini USB into the phone wont put you in to DL mode? I checked the button config for the i897 and that is it and on the i777 too....The USB jig should force the phone in to download mode then you can flash back to stock!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627#post18576627 Once you can get in to DL mode if you flash 2c. (if you want stock root) from this link it's the stock package just read all you can first.....

what about usb jig? will it work? or do i have to do a jtag hard unbrick??
If there is no sign of life it is probably hard bricked.
If there is any sign of life, then there might be some hope.
If you can get your hands on a jig, it would be worth a try to see if it will come to life.

I777 Galaxy S2 Boot Loader Ruined???

Guys please help me here. I tried my search friend first. I tried to root my son's G2 and I seem to have really screwed up. I have to use my dongle thing I bought for my Note to get into Download mode. I was trying re-install the factory ROM with Odin after I used the wrong root ROM.
Odin's errors are:
File analysis
SetupConnection
Initialization
Get PIT for mapping
Firmware update start
boot.img
NAND Write Start
Complete (Write) operation failed
All threads completed suceed 0 / failed 1
Is this fixable? My son is going to heartbroken

No it won't go into download mode anymore with the buttons, It wants to try to do a software recovery through Kies but they won't connect. I have to take the battery out now to get it to turn off.
First thing is, is your phone an SGH-I777 (ATT)? And what did you use to root? Was it a method from this site?

Is that right about the Jig? I got the idea to buy from here?
First, confirm that you have the SGH-I777 model, not the 727 model. Using this firmware on the 727 will hard brick it.
Go to the Download Repository and flash the one-click downloader under the heading I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries.
This full package contains the bootloaders and should recover the phone. If you have problems, post here and I'll try to help.

[Q] Need help in upgrading my S2 i777 (AT&T) phone to jelly beans: URGENT

So here are the steps I followed to install jelly beans today on my Samsung Galaxy S2 i777 (AT&T):
My existing OS was official ICS (based on updated from AT&T)
1) I followed this tutorial: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-sgh-i777-att-android-4-1-1-jelly-bean-supernexus-rom-109992/
2) After reading the tutorial, I came to know that before installing jelly beans, it requires: custom recovery (e.g., ClockworkMod Recovery) installed
3) Bases on the link provided in the tutorial, I did this: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i777-att-root-clockworkmod-recovery-76868/
4) As soon as I did this, in Odin, it was successfully passed, I say yellow traingle with i9100 on it..
5) I took battery out and put it back and still I was not able to turn ON my phone and same yellow traingle with i9100 on it...
6) I tried switching this:
Pull the battery and leave it out.
Hold down volume button and plug in the USB cable. (PC will supply the power)
This should boot the phone into download mode.
7) Finally, after online research I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199
8) It was a relief then my phone was started after performing the stock install (based on above link). - Then I realized that it was gingerbread - so basically I was in old version of android.
9) Since the above link says, STOCK, so I was assuming that it is stock version so I should be able to get the official updates from AT&T. and get ICS atleast to be back at the point where I started.
10) I went to setting > software update.. - It downloaded update and finally it was done and it is 2.3.6 version (still gingerbread).
Now I don;t know if I have the original stock version ? If yes then why I didn't get ICS update since AT&T have already released the ICS update and that's how I got my update before I tired all this ?
Another confusion is that, if this is not stock version then I should have not been able to even download any software update, but I was able to do this and android version got updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6..
Can anyone please guide me in a right direction, what exactly happened and how to get ICS at least or jelly beans ?

So here are the steps I followed to install jelly beans today on my Samsung Galaxy S2 i777 (AT&T):
My existing OS was official ICS (based on updated from AT&T)

Well sorry that I posted a lot but this is not fair. I am trying to be as informative as I can so that if any of you wants to help have clear picture of what I did because when there is not enough information then you will ask for more information.
This is wrong to discourage new members who need help and trying their best to provide all the steps followed.
Can anyone else help me please ? I would deeply appreciate it...

They're right. Don't follow tutorials outside XDA please. Also, PM me and I'll help.

Don't be discouraged by the Pirate troll squad. Trolling is all that they know how to do.
It could be that you need to try updating later. I don't know if AT&T's servers put a limit on the number of updates that are available at a certain time and for certain users. They like to throttle everything else. So, it wouldn't be overly surprising. It could just be a matter of restarting the device and attempting to update again. The fact that you were able to acquire one of the updates shows that you are able to get them.

You posted enough so that I know you are not understanding anywhere near what you need to for me to help you. Read more, get a better understanding of what it is you need to do and then you can ask if you still have questions.

Thank you Shawn - PM sent...
1. OTA updates won't take you from GB to ICS. You have to use kies or download a ROM from here.
2. You need to search and read the stickies for this device. They will give you everything you need to load cwm on your phone and from there you can flash away.
3. Just as a heads up from a fellow android lover, if you post in xda about issues you are having running ROMs or using walkthroughs from other sites, you are asking to get flamed. I am not condoning it or anything, just letting you know what to expect.
4. If after reading the stickies and researching, you are still having an issue, post back here or even shoot me a pm. There are plenty of helpful people on xda, we just want you to learn rather then be spoon fed. It's the whole give a man a fish vs teaching him to fish thing.
Good luck!!!

Thank you for your messages / replies. I do wanna learn and would like to know what exactly happened. I know to answer this question, you will have to read what I wrote in my very first post above but I am just curious if anybody can try to explain me what could be the possibility that happened in my case based on my description. (no need to read stuff from other website that I posted) - Please at least read what I explained above ?

But I am asking about the situation when " I was not able to turn ON my phone and same yellow traingle with i9100 was appearing on it"
Does that means the other website might have stuff related to i9100 instead of clockmode for i777 ?
Was that situation close to bricking the phone ?

With all due respect to "other sites", don't use them. Everything you need to root, get CWM, and flash what ever rom you desire is right here in this very forum(i777). Whatever you flashed from another site could have possibly contained some i9100 stuff that borked the install. Read the stickies and you'll be fine.
Ps- it's Jelly Bean, not Jelly Beans

[Q] How to restore ALL Android OS Stock AT&T SGH-I777 ?

I bought a SGH-I777 but this is rooted and has a modded OS installed. But I didn't liked it at all.
I don't mind it is rooted, but USB and 3G don't work, Kies does not recognize the cell and I don't know what to do.
I want to restore original AT&T Android ICS... I am afraid brick the phone.
About phone attached.
Please help!
Well u could try reading the stickies that contain all the information u need to go back to stock or try googling any information u need regarding flashing a custom rom. All this information already exists.

Why would he wanna do that??
Spoon feed:
Look HERE.
This will get you to stock GB though. You can upgrade to ICS from there easily.
That ROM is excellent lol.
Oh, and why would Kies (stock) work with a modded ROM? That isn't an issue, so now your down to:
USB doesn't work
3g doesn't work
I don't believe three issue to be the ROM itself, and with dune worth, it could be fixed while still running PhoneBricker. However, going back to stock is easy, read the stickies... creepyncrawly has an EXCELLENT guide you can follow.
Read it a few times over before your attempt anything.
