Settings, scroll down to system updates, go to htc software update, and uncheck scheduled check.

Clear data/cache on the Updater app to get rid of the notification if it's still stuck in the tray.

Thanks guys - also used "freeze" in titanium backup which I'm hoping will stop this dead. Does anyone know where the update file is stored (once downloaded)? I've checked /cache and no dice.

Unable to turn off GPS with Widget

When I use the GPS widget my phone resets, I get the white screen with the HTC logo, then I get the loading screen and then the main screen refreshes.
I can turn it off using the quick settings just fine, tried rebooting the phone but that doesn't fix the issues. Any ideas?
I have the same issue. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try uninstalling the 4g sprint corp widget.

I don't see where I can turn that off.
I remember this /was/ an issue when 2.3.4 came out, I also had a problem with mobile data (3g) but for some reason they fixed themselves.
Download a widget for GPS off the marketplace to replace the broken one.
Other than that I'm not really sure, sorry, but I only had these problems with stock.
Go into settings, manage app, all, 4g corp widget. I had the same problem, I removed the update on the widget and the gps worked again.

It's for sure the 4g corp widget, but I moved the update to system instead of data as an update and it fixed my Mobile.Network and GPS widget.

I don't see anything in Settings>>Manage Apps that says "4g corp widget".
I see something called "HTC Sense", but there are 2 instances of it there. Also, how exactly does one remove the update as you stated.
Go to Settings- Applications- Manage Applications- (tab) ALL- Scroll down until you read, Settings Sprint Corp 4G, select it and click on Uninstall updates. Widgets will all work accordingly as they did before the last minor update. And no it wont hurt your 4G or anything.

I had the same problem after the update. I did a factory reset and everything worked fine since. So...if you don't mind reloading your apps, just do that.

Second, are you rooted? Custom rom? Have you rebooted? Tried a factory reset?

[Q] Problem with Messages after ICS update :(

I've just updated my Evo 3d to the gsm Official ICS update, but i'm experiencing problems
My Messages app won't load. When I click on it, it shows the recent messages screen but theres a notice saying "Please wait" and a loading symbol, and i'm not able to click on any of my messages or compose new ones
I've left it on this screen for half an hour but the "Please Wait" and the loading symbol doesn't go away. It's probably because I have lots of messages stored on the phone, but this didn't seem to be a problem before the update
I tried using the Messages widget, and that works fine, all the messages show up and I am able to click on individual conversations.
I'm just hoping for a solution to the problem because I don't want to have to go through the widget every time to access all of my messages and send new ones. I would appreciate any help :good:
Thank you
If you don't care about your messages just clear your messages data.

thanks for the reply.
I do care about my messages and would prefer not to delete them all, but I guess i could use an app to back them up. The problem is that the option to clear message data is within the message app itself, and since the message app won't load, I can't get to that option

Not completely true .
Yes try to back up your messages with an app . then go into settings.. apps... Select all. Then scroll down until you find messages and you can clear data from there.

Thankyou for the help iTzLOLtrain, i tried that method, although the 'clear data' option was greyed out and I was unable to press it. Instead I downloaded an app that can delete messages, and let it run overnight. Now everything seems to be working

How do I get rid of the "System update is available" notification?

I'm rooted and can't do the update. I made the mistake of making the phone check to see if there was a update and now i can't clear the notification.....even if I reboot. Any ideas?
Thanks
Try flashing another ROM? Or disable the software update check.
For future reference, questions go in the Q&A section.
I have the same problem..

Settings > apps > Updater > clear data. Does it every time.
What I did was accept the update but check only download over WiFi. The update/download will appear in notifications. Idk if u have to wait a few hours, but go back into check for updates and the option to cancel download will be there in HTC.
Obviously u don't want to be on WiFi or it will start the download. Haven't gotten any system update available messages since either. I'm stock unrooted atm.

I had the same problem. If you have TB pro, you can freeze Updater...worked for me. Clearing data on the app is probably easier, but not sure if it's permanent. Freezing will make sure you never see it again.
or add this to your build.prop
ro.config.htc.nocheckin=1
add it to the bottom..
Great. Thanks guys

[MOD] Remove the HTC power saver option in the new sense Jellybean update

It was really annoying me so I did some searching and I found this thread.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016254
Basically if you use titanium back up, you can just freeze or delete "com.htc.htcpowermanager" and it'll disappear.
I just thought I'd share with you guys, credit goes to to the guy who found this in the link above, I'm just passing it on.
EDIT: Freezing or deleting it will both cause your battery menu in settings to disappear. This isn't really an issue to me as there isn't really anything in there that you can do, besides see whats' eating your battery. IMO this is negligible especially when new roms will be rolling out soon, hopefully with a work around.
Wouldn't delete it just in u may need it later. Freezing is the best option for all annoying system apps. Thanks for sharing the link tho.

Read the edit I just made to the OP.
In JB you can long-tap on a notification and click on App Info. I did a Force Stop there, notification went away. Hopefully there are no other side effects. If there are any, I will report them.
LOL 5 minutes later, and it's back. And you cannot uncheck "Show Notifications"
I used this to get rid of mine. Think its a good alternative.

I have had mine turned off since I loaded the Rom and its still there. If we could just unlock the show notification option maybe that would turn off the one minor annoyance.
Is there documentation on what the power saver function specifically does?

Can't you just edit default.xml in system/customize/resource/MNS/ ? Of course on a clean boot, but that'sbetter then losing functions to me.

credit to nitsuj17....you will lose the function though...I haven't tried enabling in terminal with this...maybe it would work

Same here. I'm mostly against it because I don't know why I'd ever need it. It might actually be useful but if it does x y and z and I only want x and y I'd like to know what I'm getting into.
I can't believe no one noticed it yet but if you go to the app info there is a check box for notifications, just uncheck it and it goes away

Mine won't toggle neither. I have tried with power save mode enabled and disabled as well as from safe mode.
That's the first place I went and mine is grayed out also.
