[Q]Update from SD Card failed !!! Please help - Sony Tablet S

I have downloaded firmware from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26882207
and the one I have downloaded is
China WIFI Only
4.0.3 R1A
info.update.sony.net/ST005/nbx03_024/contents/0010/signed-nbx03_024-ota-120803056.zip
when I turn on my tablet into recovery mode and selected choice 2 [ update system from sd card ]
it prompt several text as below
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Desklunvr update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku
Installation aborted.
and other question is can I use other android version which is not china wifi only ?
and here is my tablet, I got my tablet in china
Sony tablet S
Android Version: 4.0.3 Release1a
Kernel Version: 2.6.39.4 [email protected]#1
below are some more question I want to know please help me out if you can
what I want to know is
- I want to flash my tablet's android version to somewhere else which is not from china [ I don't like some of its built-in apps], can I do it with my tablet?
- If I want to flash it as I said above, am I have to root it first ?
I am new for an android devices, so thanks for telling me

flash from sd card need:
1,same regain
2,rom version num. > old(not =)
your tab is 4.0.3 r1a,so can't "update" to r1a
if you want change regain,
1, root
2,change regain with "all in one" tool
2,update to a biger number(or crack version number & flash)
ps,不喜欢内建程序,可以root后干掉,同理可以补回阉割程序

So from what you said is
I have to download the "china" one right ?
but I don't understand
2,rom version num. old(not =) is this mean I have to update it with higher one , so that mean I need 4.0.3r5a and it is have to be "china" am I right
and another question is
can I root my tablet right now with 4.0.3r1a , kernel 10
thanks
ps. I am not Chinese, I'm Thai so I try to translate it with google but just make it harder to understand ,,, hahaha

"rom version num. old(not =)" means the Android version you are wanting to update to must be newer than the one you already have installed. The Android version cannot be older than or equal to the one you already have installed.
You can root Android 4.0.3r1a kernel 10. READ THIS THREAD. I greatly recommend you read the entire thread before attempting the root method.

[Q] Any ROMs for U8500 ?

hello my firends! Im a new android user, bought first android phone just week ago. I have Huawei U8500 and i think it's very new model and there are very few people who have it. There's no official 2.2 or 2.3 version so im looking for ROM. I think there is no ROMs for this model yet ? But can i use ROMs which was created for other phones ? im really really hoping that someone will make 2.2 or 2.3 for this model. Thanks for answers.
i was searching for few days... i understand russian a little bit so i found 2.2 version made by russian guy, i didn't tried it yet becouse i don't how to instal that so i dont know if it's with russian language or not, but fact is that there is 2.2 version for U8500 ! Few russians tried that and it's working fine for them !
it's link for the 2.2 narod.ru/disk/4575221001/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%88%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BA%D0%B02.2_2901.rar.html
Im also trying when i have spare time to locate a u8500 rom . im a extremly novice user tho so prolly wont find much .
Tried to get that russian rom but seems the link is dead or just blocked .
Is anyone working on a eng realease for this phone ?
Or news if there will be a official rel i have missed ?

To install it:
1. Unrar it to your computer, and find a folder named "dload" with the biggest size.
2. Copy that "dload" folder to root of your SD card
3. turn off phone
4. Hold volume up key + end call (red) key and the press power key. Wait for it to load, it will say something like "Updating system" Wait for it to finish, if it says fail, just try again
5. After it says "Update complete" or "Update successful" just restart your phone and you'll have the new beta firmware.
6. Reboot can take about 5 minutes. Be patient.
Do it always while charging.
Highly recommend to back up the original firmware before installing new ROM's
On your own risk. You can brick your phone and you void your phones warranty.

Hi, to load phone in recovery mode and to fulfill wipe date and a cache. I apologize for the bad English
How did you guys download this?
The only way i can see the link to proceed to download is via google translate. And when i click it i get a 404.
/Peter
You cant use google translate when clicking! Under the android guy pic, click where it says сюда, you then come to another site, just now click on a link on the page, that will take you to another page (the sponsor page), then you will se that it will start ticking the time in the top of the window, then after that you can click again and actually start the download....

Just wanted to say that this rom works awesome on my u8300.
It requires some tweaking. Change of lcd density etc. And the screen calibration isn't perfekt. But it's much faster than the stock rom so i'll stick with it.
Definetly worth a shot.
But according to a user on another forum there might be problems when you downgrade from a 8500 rom to the stock 8300. I haven't tested, so i can't really comment on that...

When can we get the root kernel for fw2.3.20?

Having updated to lasted firmware,my A43 can't boot by old-kernel-rooted SDE system.I'm eagerly look forward to get an new rooted kernel, because many apps need root permitting.
oh no, come on...
1) use search before you post
2) be patient: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12861501#post12861501
1st post, 1st error.
Remember me when was released the last firmware? Yeste.... yes you got it!
Be patient, everybody her has a real life and other things to do that delivering a rooted kernel only few hours after it have been released.
Also note that it is never a good idea to jump on a new firmware without waiting few days before to see if there is not a big problem on it (like the "ho no! I can't return to a precedent version and all is so slow now!")
In fact, when I saw the version number2.3.20,I thought that's an Android 2.3 firmware,so I updated it without hesitation......
I understand. But unfortunately firmware revion numbers are not relevant of the android version inside it.

Yep, I had a brief hope but then remembered the "odd" Archos fw numbering scheme. Also thought that it might be a build date, but then remembered prior versions not matching that idea.
Big number jump for such a seeming minorish update though, given what prior releases were.

[ICS] update's link

Found this URL, supposed to be the ICS update for US tablets :
http://info.update.sony.net/ST002/nbx03_001/contents/0014/signed-nbx03_001-ota-120410004.zip
Maybe there's something to do with it if it's the real one.
I think of disabling or deleting the region check in the "installation" script embedded in the zip before rooting, signing and flashing with Condi's tool. This may avoid the tablet's region changing.
Maybe it can help bricked devices owners, if they can find a way to push a modded build.prop to their tablet with adb from the only working recovery mode and then ask for an update from sd card.
Hope so...
PS
Can't do any testing myself, I'm still in HC 3.2.1 (France) and still not rooted (kernel #10)

Oh... Must have think of it
And what about disabling the region check in the zip's install script rather than changing tablet's region ? It may be easier to do and may give us a kind of universal zip leading to US tablets without any care of their original region...
Could someone explain how I can find such a link for a new firmware e.g for Germany?
How did you find or get this link Condi?

This can be done I'm in the middle of v2.8, its ready in 3/4.
Gonna try to create some script which will disable region thing from update-script. Very good idea Sometimes the simple is the best
The update still got to have proper entry to every region - gonna make universal one for all the regions I've got
Goood, very gooooooood
I've found that working on tab in garden is very niceeee
edit---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'have just made universal fw file for (I think all of) combinations/variants of the region - 1000 of possibilities
Now all you will gonna need is to use _hack_recovery and custom zip.
But wait a minute - hmm... we've got 2 versions of _hack_recovery and we still gonna need
to have device with region which is directly supported, or still change region if there is any other.
Its becoming pointless I think.. the script already adds region code to detailedSKU.lst file,
which is check in recovery for the region.
All we can do for now is to completly cut off region updating from update-script,
but in order to flash custom zip device still needs to have hackable region.
If I could take a look on a recovery.log of just bricked device (with corrupted region),
then I could make 100% safe solution..

Also maybe it would be a good idea to include in scripts some checks that find out what region an user has on his tablet and - on this basis - the script will make a proper update file...
I mean: it would be maybe better for script to check the region currently on the tablet than leave users with the prompt for choosing their region, manually...

Take a look into AiO script - its does exactly making what you have written.
1) if region needs to be temporarly changed - then it makes update thinks that its upgrading for example US region - but its already replaced correct region.
for example you've got GERMAN region before flash - use custom zip, script changes temporarly to US to get through update which updates GERMAN region!
Code:
copy backups\region.zip tmp\27550199\region.zip
So its already done. Look guys at some users posts - obicom wrote that he has german region.zip and US vendor.prop. Region changing works just great. Only some I think 'different revision' devices got problems with it. Or its a user mistake.

[Q] Asus ZenFone 6

Hello,
I have purchased Asus ZenFone in China, its great phone, but unfortunately doesn't support Google Services, so I can use native Google apps and Market Play, what I need is little help with some custom ROM in order to install it on my phone!
Thanks a lot
You can download gapps and install it as regular apps, you just need to enable developer mode and check in option to install 3rd party apps which are not from playstore.

Hi, if you are okay to use International ROM which support Google Services you can cross SKU to WW ROM. To change SKU from CN to WW, please use the similar ROM Version as your current ROM Version as shown in your phone. Download the ROM from ASUS website.
Update method, either copy to Internal Storage or ADB sideload.
After you cross SKU from CN to WW, update your ROM to V1.14.40.50 WW ROM.
REMEMBER: Do not update to V1.15.40.35 ROM onwards if you haven't update to V1.14.40.50. ROM.

MediaPad M5 Pro - How can I update to Android 9/10?

Hello,
I have a MatePad M5 Pro that is stuck on Android 8.
Model: CMR-W19
I don't care if it's official ROM or custom ROM. I would like to maintain the WidevineL1 and mpen and keyboard support.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Try downloading HiSense software onto a PC, then connect your Mediapad to the PC and it will check for updates, even if checking for updates on your Mediapad itself doesn't find any.
This worked for mine. I was stuck on 8 too, until HiSense found an update and did the update on my Mediapad, then the Mediapad was able to find further incremental updates itself.

Any idea which to use? There are a lot of different Android 9 builds.
And how do I sideload on this device? Sorry if that's a noob question. haven't had to do this for a number of years.
When you click on a version to download, it gives you full instructions on how to install.
You are best going up in stages.
Find the same version that you have currently installed, then download the next version number up.
They're all for the same device, but that is a list of every update that's been released.
So install the next version up from yours, then try searching for the next update manually on your device to see if it then triggers it to keep updating itself. If need, just keep running the updates by SD card method.

Thanks! Im guessing I just can't install the latest update first?
I'm not sure.
Mine did incremental (about 6 in total), even though the latest one was newest.
To be sure, you're best off going up in order.
Because it's fully stock and you're doing in the correct way, it will scan first, so any issues and it won't install - so nothing to lose.
Hi all,
Had a read through this thread to see if there was any chance of an Android Update for my device but from the answers given, I can't seem to find anything.
I'm using an M5 Pro 10.8 (CMR-L09 - Cellular) on 8.0.0.203 and the Huawei Updater site doesn't seem to have anything above this for my model.
If I was to look at installing an OTA for the likes of the CMR-W19, would this harm my device at all?
They're both Cellular, both 10.8". Only thing I can really see different is that they are 64GB and I'm 32GB.
Also, as a side question, I don't have a PC, what's the best way to download and install an update using the device itself?
I look forward to a reply!

In regards to the part of if it would be bad..
CMR-W19 is not an LTE model. So if you do successfully flash the ROM, not sure if you would have issues with LTE.
Ahhh, glad I checked! Thanks for the reply!

CMR-AL19 (m5 Pro 64gb LTE) here. I'm on 8.0.0.199 Android 8.0 With July 19 Security patches. No Update available. Huawei support told me there is no newer version available for this Model.... I'm abit mad coz it's even the 'pro' Model..
