I need some help with rooting my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (MT15i).
I have unlocked my bootloader following the official method. And now I want to root my device but somehow I can't get it done.
I've tried several methods icluding DoomLoRD. But nothing works.
Can somebody explain to me what i need to do?
Is there a way to make a complete backup of my device without having root? before I try rooting?

ok and is there any problem in doing it WIN 7 64 bit, cuz i have faced serious problems in unlocking bootloader while at win 7 64 bit, but as soon i worked it on my other pc which has xp 32 bit the process gone smooth without any hitch
ill follow the same link of ur 1st question reply, nd ill give u the news then !
Thanks
I also had some problems with unlocking the bootloader (on windows 7 64bit) at first, but after i turned of my antivirus everything worked just fine.
Even I have windows 7 64bit and I don't think there's any issue whatsoever!
I unlocked my bootloader only a few days back!

Please dnt mind my questions m very new here, the link to ur 1st question refers to a page of sony where its says:
"How To Root 4.0.3
Just follow the instructions here Root
now this link goes to a thread, that says do it with doom lord: which is a pain !
should i go for the flashtool process instead, but that mentions the FW 4.0.4, where as i have the stock 4.0.3 ?
Plz Help !
Flashtool can't root ics fw's.
And if doomlord's toolkit is hard for you, then don't mess with your phone at all
How can it be hard, you set 2,3options and connect phone to pc, toolkit does all the job..

i have visited the same link http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
it says for version 4.0.3, nd then a thread that says doomlord, which i have already tried so many times wats the difference in this, i even tried this also it has only pushed the super user app which has no apps its just empty there is no significant change ! now plz explain that have u followed the doomlord process again or the flashtool and downloaded the Kernal for NEO V nd did the flashing process by using flashtool !

For start chill your horses.
I have eyes and I can read, so no need to copy/paste what has been written in this thread.
Second, I know why doomlord's root toolkit failed for OP. doomlords toolkit CAN root .562(also known as 4..0.3) but CAN'T root .431(4.0.4) fw, which is what flashing .562 kernel is needed in order to root.
I know the procedure, I wrote the tutorial(which I linked in post#4), after which guys from talk.sonymobile wrote it on their forum, just FYI.

If you are on 4.0.3, doomlord CAN root your phone, if it can't, you are doing something wrong, in which case, we need to see log of that root process.
Flashtool is only used to flash 4.0.3 kernel, but that's for people on 4.0.4.

He failed with doomlord root toolkit because he had 4.0.4! He needed to flash kernel from 4.0.3, then use toolkit then flash back kernel from 4.0.4

if doomlord's root toolkit FOR ICS, failed for you, provide log of that process.
Now I tell you another thing, which you would know if you read all post in this thread, specially link I gave above, you have unlocked your bootloader, ffs, you can root without any mess with root toolkits, simply flash/hotboot kernel with CWM and flash superuser zip. And enjoy your phone.
Tutorial on talk.sonymobile doesn't have part for unlocked bootloaders, that's why I linked my tutorial which have both parts.
He failed with doomlord root toolkit because he had 4.0.4! He needed to flash kernel from 4.0.3, then use toolkit then flash back kernel from 4.0.4
if doomlord's root toolkit FOR ICS, failed for you, provide log of that process.
U are rite 4.0.3 is workable in doomslord but only on this doomslord toolkit for xperia "DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su"
it has pushed the SU properly nd installed it ! later i have downloaded CWM 5, so i 1st took Astro File Manager from the Market, for exploring the SD then installed the CWM 5, so when i did the SU asked to get the permission nd then all the options in CWM are ticked well and Su got CWM in its list, so all good and rooted, now please refer me the app that can solve the brightness issue in Neo V :good:
Thanx & Regards
now that i have rooted & all ! how will i go to fw .431 means 4.0.4 ? and if i flash 4.04 will my phone still be rooted ?
If u know a process of how to root in 4.0.4 nd can install su in it plz tell ! nd plz clarify me that CWM is necessary to have it 1st installed on the device or SU ?
Lets suppose ill clear the picture ... if i want to flash 4.0.4 with Kernal .431 my phone is open to root, but as u know the doomlords kit failed ! is there any otherway to push SU as a zip like ur mentioning that flash it with hotboot wats that how the process is going to be ?
Plz help !
my phone was rooted but i updated the lastest update.. n there after no more my phone is rooted... so now again... how can i root my phone???

So I was updating my android version from gingerbread (2.3.7) into Jelly Bean (4.1.2)

I badly need help sir, what can I do? I just bought this phone 4-5 months ago.

Try to flash stock with flashtool for a start.
If you have used PC Companion before you can start repair and build the firmware FTF file yourself
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188129
http://mytechencounters.wordpress.c...eate-an-ftf-file-of-your-xperia-ics-firmware/
Are you sure it's bootoader is unlocked?

Which rom did u try to flash
Everything's fine now. Thank you for your help though.
I fixed the problem myself.
Here's what I did:
Because of the kernel, my battery won't charge. That's why it won't open or anything.
So I charged it using a universal charger/wall charger then tried opening it.
Now it vibrates. So the next thing I did was flash the ICS and boom. It's alive again.
