Maximize battery life - Motorola Droid X2

Today I have been running for 16 hours and still have 50% battery.
All I did differently is utilize the data toggle widget on CM7 unboosted. I'm still able to call, text and use wifi. And if necessary I can swith data on in a matter of seconds.
I suggest everyone tired of weak batteries give this widget a shot, you won't be sorry.

CM7 is a GB ROM on a GB device. It's the best battery life for us... It's not a surprise you are getting that battery life.

Ive managed amazing battery life, 4 days 10 hrs, running eclipse 2.3 with mashup v6. The screens speak for themselves. I do turn off my 3g,wifi,and gps when I'm not using them and don't turn my phones off at all. I do check my email and surf the web often enough that only naked browser really shows up in percentage use. I listen to music but in the span of days a few, an hour or so a day doesn't add up to even one percent i guess. I average a few calls a day for only a few minutes and text a decent amount, but I'd say doing stuff online is what uses my battery the most.
the only 4 things ive done different (I used to get 1 maybe 2 days of battery life with all my same habits): flashed eclipse 2.3 from 2.2 and ive never used mashup till now, ive just started turning off my 3g when i dont use it, and id say the naked browser is probably slim enough to not hog alot of processing or memory.

Wow that's awesome. I haven't given eclipse much of a shot. I like cm cuz its customization like lock screen and the pull down toggles are changeable. But this might persuade me to change ROMs

Naked Browser battery savings

One difference is that Naked Browser does not spy, monitor, or track users in ANY way. Imagine the processing and bandwidth involved in tracking your every keystroke, button press, swipe, etc. That's what browsers out there are doing! They call it "analytic testing" or "user experience monitoring" but the truth is that they're figuring out where you visit, aligning it with your identity (I try to stay away from any app that requires "phone state and identity"), and selling your information--very sensitive information! Naked Browser does not and will never do this.
Two, Naked Browser stops completely when you're done with it. It freezes and does not use any CPU unless you go back to it. There's absolutely no "phoning home" or "pinging" going on. Web pages are given a short chance to complete loading and downloads are left to finish, but as soon as what you requested is done the browser goes into deep sleep, yet ready to resume.
Three, I made it as fast as I could, testing all along the way. I'm continuously trying to crunch the code down so that things are as efficient as I can make them. Scrolling, zooming, loading, etc...I try to trim as much delay as I can out of browsing. The seconds and milliseconds add up. Even the overlaid menus, perhaps a bit frustrating at first, are quicker once you get used to them.
Maybe this sounds like an advertisement, but it's a free app and there isn't even any advertising. I made it because I was fed up with the privacy violations of almost every browser out there. Here's the xdaforums thread about it.

Photon Battery life- WTF?!

Alright, I've read countless "photon battery issue" threads and none really have a good answer but this is just ridiculous:

I went to bed with the thing charged to 100%, wake up 8hrs later, not having used it once and its at 50%... okay, whatever, I guess it was about 8 hours...
So I charge it to 80% then go work-out for about maybe 2 hours and when I'm done the SOB is at 40%- I DIDN'T TOUCH IT THE WHOLE TIME! I DON'T THINK IT EVEN CHARGES THAT FAST! I don't care if it was searching for signal the whole time, which it shouldn't have, WTF?!
Other anecdotal stories: I'm fanatical about battery life and always charge it full before going out for the night or something and I'm usually lucky to make it to bar close, a total time span of MAYBE 5 hours. How is this even possible?! The damn thing is supposed to have a 10 hour talk time?! Even if I was on the phone the whole time (which not even close, just txting and using it when you're awkwardly alone while your friend goes to the bathroom)- WTF!?
I'm extremely vigilant about charging and monitoring battery life and despite my best efforts I get burned constantly. I even have this thing on airplane mode at work (in a basement) cause it will be dead by the end of my shift.
Any one use a rom that gives a noticeable increase in battery life? Doesn't seem like many of them are mature enough. Juice defender doesn't seem to help much... do I have any decent options? I may start carrying around a second battery but seriously, that's a bit silly.
/venting.
you have a bad battery, just call up Motorola and see if your still under warranty, if so, have them send you one, that's what i did and i've noticed a substantial increase in battery life
Hey man, did you calibrate your battery when flashing roms? Battery will die faster when dont calibrate. Currently which rom are you on. also check some programs that might run in the background. Right now, im getting about 17 hours, but i am over clocked and under volting this bad boy. I posted my battery life prior to running jokers ROM. Check it out.

I think I have some issues with my battery as well. It discharges fast! I usually have it full all the time but the times where I have left it discharge cause I'm lazy I wonder how everyone post pics with 13+ hrs when I feel like my won't get even 10. Btw, my battery has been in water for a brief moment idk if that affects it somehow?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
In my experience, bad battery life is usually related to some apps or settings wrecking havoc in the background. Unless you happen to have a phone with LTE and a smaller battery of course.
I always get an average of 30 to 40 hours on one charge with moderate use on my Photon, stock rooted...
For me, live wallpapers demolished my battery life. Also, I completely formatted sd internal before flashing joker skinny.
No rom here, just rooted- lime green theme. I didnt calibrate but for a theme i shouldn't need to? Ill look into getting a battery from moto, no reason i shouldn't be covered.... Aside from rooting that is. Also wouldnt phantom app drain show in the pics posted?

My battery life is also really bad.. but since I flashed cm7 its been better which makes me not wanna throw this phone against the wall lol..but seriously ..right now I'm at 42 percent after 11 hours with texting, a few calls, Facebook, playing some games so I'm really happy with cm7.give it a try

Found this neat battery management app from the makers of go launcher ex. after using it for a few days I have found what it estimates to be fairly spot on. Have you guys tried it?

I've been using GO apps since getting my Note back in February. The Power Master app is very good. I have tried different power saving apps and was never really satisfied. Also, what font are you using on your Note?
The font is called "Droid" I installed it using RomToolBox by jRummy.

I'm not sure I see the purpose. I've tried both Juice Defender and GreenPower, and those both are capable of extending my battery automatically by managing the radios (at the cost of untimely notifications), but everything in GO Power is already built into the phone (except for estimated time remaining).

Go Power Master aims to take the time consuming setup & micro-management out of the process by handling most of everything for you.
I used it for a few days but it wasnt for me.
Personally, I use Tasker and Battery Widget Pro.
Tasker (something like $8 on the market) gives you all the functionality of Juice Defender and GreenPower but it also gives you MANY more options than any other app of this kind (automation on your phone). Tasker isnt specifically for saving battery power, its about automating process for you so you dont have to think about it and if you think about it, some of the things you do may be for the express purpose of saving battery life but could also be for other purposes.
One of the MANY automated Tasker scripts I run automatically turns off nearly every radio on the phone when I am more than 200 feet away from the house. Another automatically turns the phone ringer off when I place it on my inductive charger (when its on the charger, I dont want phone calls because I usually will be sleeping).
However, Tasker comes at a huge price, first it is fairly expensive for an app but the bigger issue is the learning curve. Yes, there is a ton of documentation for it but essentially, every task you create is a small logic gate and if you are not familiar with basic programming or have a good grasp of basic math and minor algebra (greater than, lesser than, etc.), you may run into some difficulties getting it to do what you want it to.
Battery Widget Pro tells me EXACTLY what is going on with my battery, sometimes killing me with TMI (too much information). When I see something out of the norm with regards to battery life, I can tap the battery widget and see exactly what has been going on since the day I installed the app (it lets me go back as far as I want to see battery information).

[Q] Screen using large amount of battery on ICS

im on the leaked version of ics .84. one complaint i have about ICS is how much battery is being used by the screen. and i really hate how people say that this leak is flawless and perfect, because its not, i have several complaints about it but that is not the point of this post. i really want to know if i am the only one like this.

i know in these screen shots that my phone has only been on for a small time, but the screen usage basically stays this high through out the day, doesn't matter if it is 50 minutes or 9 hours.
but then i was thinking, maybe just everything else is so battery efficient that the screen is the most power consuming component. but this cant be true cause im only getting about 12-14, 16 if im lucky, hours on ics. on gb i could easily get 15-18. im using the phone the same way that i was when on GB. i hardly ever have the screen brightness above 10%, and if i do it is at 30%. im not cranking the screen up, even though it does look really sexy when i do last week the battery discharged in 9 hours and the screen used 75% with an on time of an hour and 32 minutes.
i also had this problem on the first ics leak
is anyone else having this issue with there razr on ics?
On the old 75 leak I was regularly seeing 5 hr screen on time on 3g. Almost same as gingerbread. W that kind of on time I couldn't complain. But ics is going to point out the killers. The display is the main killer. I have a maxx tho so its hard for me to compare.
Those meters aren't even close to perfectly accurate. They are, however, better than the GB meters. Your screen is generally your biggest culprit for usage, even more so on an AMOLED display. But it's not the only thing, and the hardware hasn't changed from GB.
If something is going on with your battery it's not ICS itself. Keep in mind that between Google+, Motocast, Backup Assistant+, Facebook, corporate email (all of which come pre-installed) plus Dropbox, etc. there are ton of things trying to automatically sync in the background- and definitely more than GB. Some of those can be disabled in their own settings and the rest can be locked out through the Apps panel.
With Wi-Fi on (I know, that's cheating) and unnecessary sync turned off I can get 5-6 hours of screen-on time, plus an hour or so of talk (and a full 24 hours between charges)-- so the screen is not the only offender.
Display kills battery
I am in the same boat as the original poster of this thread. I was running GB and the display was always less than the OS and the Android System. On GB I was running everything in the background - push email, Dropbox, FB, LinkedIN, 2 other email accounts, Twitter, etc. By the end of the day I was at 30% to 40% on the battery.
Then I upgraded to ICS leak .79. I changed nothing - still ran the same things in the background and used the phone the same way. However, now display is 78% with Android OS at 6% and Android System 3%. Now I end my day with about 10%.
Help - any ideas?

(Q) Battery life

Ok so this is going to be a generic question
I'm thinking of buying droid DNA/ butterfly whatever it's called
Just wanted to know how's the battery life?
I'm a heavy user
So how long does it last under heavy usage?
Please share your experiences
Cuz I don't want to waste money on something that doesn't even last a few hours
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
I am what I consider a moderate user, I have got anywhere from 8-13 hours to a charge.
Awake time 2-4 was playing mp3's in my truck. Something I also did with my T-bolt all the time. I see people on other boards saying they stream music for 4-6 hours over wi-fi and still are getting more life than I am.

Hi, the battery holds up quite nicely even with the little 2020 battery. I can easily get at least 9-12 hours of moderate but mostly heavy use from the phone. The battery LIFE compares mostly to the S3 with this battery LIFE being slightly better from my tests.
Sent from HTC DNA "The beast of all beastly phones"
Moderate to heavy user: Get about 13-14 hours on a full charge with about 3-4 hours on screen time. Almost identical battery life to my S3 using stock Rom's as a basis for comparison.
This is what I see on a light day. Heavy usage is about 12-14 hours.

My battery life isnt too bad. i unplug from home at 6:30 AM, i use maps and turn by turn navigation quite often, and normally stream a half hour show for lunch, and text and talk here n there. my battery on average lasts until about 3 PM before getting to about 5%
I am a fairly heavy user and I see between 10-13 hours out of a full charge.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I use it and battery life is not good. It also depend on your app, and how you use it.
yeah same here, i get at least solid 8 hours, and that is constant kik'ing, texting, facebook, youtube, games. this phone is by far the best i ever had.
I closed the thread as there is enough feedback in here to answer the OP's question. However, and let this be a warning to all of you...

[Q] Crazy battery drain

Are others having this? i mean i go through a full battery about twice a day.... I cant figure out what is draining it so bad. i have used WLD, greenify, and bootmanager to try to figure it out..... None of my apps are ever on the battery list, and screen is around 50% usually with android system and android OS always being up the list. I always thought it was my bad signal strength at work but i had two weeks off and my phone NEVER lasted even close to a day.
I have factory reset once but loaded my same apps backup.
I heard someone else mention that the sprint has this weird battery drain that is explainable and was wondering if others see that also.
I am on the search for a 6000+ mah battery i know it will have a replacement back plate but i don't want the whole case thing like the 9000 zero lemon.
Sounds like kernel wakelock
As of the last two days i have also been experiencing much faster battery drain. Have had the phone since launch and never had this problem.
I do not use the device in excess. Very few if any phone calls per day, some texting and gmail, occasional skim of xda, huffpo, phandroid apps and very light Twitter use if bored and not near the computer.
Battery has dipped 5% since writing this post...that's all of 1-2 minutes in use.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
That's not normal for a Sprint LG G3. A couple of questions:
Have you looked at the battery stats page to see what app(s) are using the most battery? I'd suggest taking a screen shot of that page and posting it here.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? If there's an app or process running out of control that will often clear it up.
Are you rooted? If so, install better battery stats so we can get a better look at what's eating the battery.
Finally, you might want to take a look at this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
While it's unlikely you have the same problem I did, the tools and techniques I used to debug it might be useful for you.
Gonna wait for some custom roms to see if the problem just goes away.

Dude the battery app should show you what is causing it. Something has gone rouge!!! I just had my weather app running in the background using GPS for 5 hours, yeah my battery went way down. Freeze some BS apps. I routinely get 30 hrs plus on a single charge. Not the phone itself something you are using is causingi it.
As requested, my craptastic battery info. Brightness was 83.
