[Q] Manual rooting and ICS - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello, I've got a question.
I want to root my stock Xperia S. However Bin4ry's method has failed and now adb and vibrations aren't working, so I had to reflash rom (just system, no wiping etc) :crying: . So I decided to root it manually (push su and Superuser.apk to respectively /system/bin and /system/app). Will it work? Unlocking bootloader IS an option if it is required, however I don't want to downgrade to gingerbread.
Thanks for replies.

Well just unlock the bootloader and fastboot an auto rooting kernel

Thanks

[Q] Xperia neo cant root or unroot

hi,
i have xperia neo and i rooted it before using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su
i updated software using pc companion to 4.0.2.A.62 i lost root but superuser was still installed
i tried to unroot it and root again but no luck superuser.apk is read only and all rooting methods don't work for me
please help i tried everything even factory reset but the superuser is still there and i can't remove it to root again
P.S: is there any way without needing to flash rom ?
Build .62 is currently unrootable so when you updated the firmware it probably broke it. I think the only way to fix it is to flash the rom.
Sent from my MT15i using xda premium
yea you are right..
you must downgrade to .42 for root option..
Thanks guys for the reply.
the problem was solved after i downgraded to .42 and then used FlashTool to root the device if someone had the same problem and wanted to solve it
unfortunately the firmware i downloaded from the form is international version and doesn't have the Arabic language user interface, i will just have to live with it
.62 is rootable, using recovery. You need to flash RootXperia.zip with recovery for locked bootloaders.
Cheers.

Ita not required root man, just usb debugging on and unknown sources on.

I've tried that and it doesn't work.
When you try to install CWM it says that you need allow root access on the screen, but nothing will happen since you don't have root yet.
I had to downgrade.

Help with rooting

Hello and sorry if this has been already asked. I just got my new Xperia Ray and I want to root it, but I can't. I have locked bootloader, android version 2.3.4 and firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62. Tell me exactly what to do cause I am really newbie. Send me links with tutorials to follow if needed.
P.S.: Moderators move it to right.section if it isn't right now. As I said I new here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567125
here for .62
as for unlocking bootloader , use the testpoint method , dont use the official SE method because if you use that method, your phone will brick when you apply the update from them.
With test point, you can get the official sony's ICS update.

I would just google "how to root xperia ray." Seriously thats how I rooted my droid x. Thats actually how most network problems get fixed at work.
Cheers

I did googled, but it seems locked bootloader is the problem. And I can't unlock with testpoints. Any way to root with locked bootloader? Also I managed to get to 4.0.2.A.0.42.

if you got any problems with the testpoint, i think you have to try harder as i also had failed so many time doing that...maybe you have to manually install the driver..
I downgrade to .42 with flashtool and rooted with zerg tool. Then installed busybody and cwm with se tweak. All with locked bootloader!

Hi,
I need some help. I just upgraded my firmware to 6.0.a.3.75 using the Update Service and I would like to root my phone.
So I need to follow this tutorial to unlock the bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
Then I use FlashTool with the firmware LT26_6.0.A.3.76_TW or LT26I_6.0.A.3.75_CE1
and then I use fastboot, with the file KA_Xperia_S_prerooted_76TW or KA_Xperia_S_prerooted_75CE from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685672
That is correct?
How do I know which region of my current firmware?
And what this means: "Also this is ONLY RECOVERY for now! You cannot boot the actual system with it!"
What is the difference between recovery and the actual system?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527133
thanks and Sorry for English

[Q] Locked bootloader + CWM?

So, I was searching for solution to have custom recovery on my locked Xperia S and i couldn't find it. Is it even possible because of my locked bootloader? My phone is rooted.
Rooting with This method gives recovery on locked bootloader.
I'm using it. I make backups and also flash roms that are for locked bootloader.

xcream and [email protected] roms are pretty cool, easy to install on locked bootloader and clean,
You can also use the attached "recovery", very quick no reinstalls, and even root direct with flashtool. A lot faster than the old method

My SXS is rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) and CWM is installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756346) on locked bootloader. So I can install for example the [email protected] ROM with CWM and will still have root and CWM?
Thx for answers!

Xperia z2 6.0.1 root ??

Hello guys,
i have searched a lot but couldn't find any useful guide on how to root xperia z2 6.0.1.
is it possible to root it ?? and if not, to what version should i downgrade and how to it + how to root the downgraded version and what are the softwares needed ??
my phone info:
model D6503
android 6.0.1
kernel 3.4.0-perf-gc14c2d5
build number 23.5.A.1..291
I really need to root it please help, thank you.
there is heaps of different methods out there, one just maybe needs to look harder,
one is http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/tool-rooting-23-5-1-291-supersu-t3437280
not a bad method that is relative easy,
really depends on what you want, custom rom, stock ,
if a custom rom, then i would recommend flashing a 5.1.1 stock rom and king rooting it then flash a good recovery and and a custom rom of your choosing
If you want to install custom rom:
1. Unlock your bootloader ( as required by most roms out there )
2. Flash TWRP using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery %filename%.img
In recovery,
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash SuperSU.zip
5. Done
If you just want root:
One-click root tools is your friends!

Dont use EMMA, use flashtool by androxyde instead! It should be far better than EMMA.
