Hi everyone i was just wondering if anybody could say 100% that this FW is official as i have noticed a few things that point in the direction that this is actually a fake.

I have noticed the launcher is the arc launcher from the play store? is that official sony?
It is like my phone has a mind of its own now as it turns off and on by itself now.
I also have to keep resetting the phone as it doesnt register a sim card in the phone.
And it lags so much it feels unusable.
It feels like a £50 budget android phone now.
And also the France dont even have this update yet.
Please could someone clarify if this is fake or not with some proof.

It's real. Installed it on my girlfriend's Xperia U. Works like a charm. Plus all ICS specific features are present. How would you fake that?

Well I have a theory, I have not spoken to them, but does anyone in the world has received the update for the PC Companion? From what I've read on XDA to date. Neither the French nor the ST25a have been received there.
I think Sony has released as the "probatinas" and has "cast" on the net for people to download them and post your impressions (They are also aware of this) and receive the official firmware in the coming days.
Of course, if someone had received by the PC Companion, my theory would absolutely break down

So you are saying that we have a super-duper-developer that has made all by himself an ICS rom for the Xperia U and remained silent???? Because now we have ICS for U, and if it was not Sony that did it, then who did? Not even Freexperia has done it so far...

ok then go into play store and search up xperia then scroll down until you see xperia arc launcher and it will say installed next to it,
then click on it and you cant update or uninstall,
im sorry but there is something a bit wierd about this rom.
it has caused me nothing but trouble.

The one by NEXTGENAPPS???
This also shows as installed on my S, and the Neo I had before it. I believe someone has uploaded the arc launcher to play store, theres also one of the xperia clock widgets on play store somewhere.

No, generally it's horrible due to Chinese version, and only differences are in look. No added functionality.
Maybe, just maybe sound quality is a little bit better.
No Google Apps, not even Market -.- and I have problems with upload to Mediafire.
W8 = Modded X8 with walkman inscription on it, and a modded original music app, and changed backround....so...IT SUCKS, they just repainted an X8 and put modded firmware on it...SE, Shame on you

It's exacly same like X8. SE even not change kernel, so no chance.
So, SE just change framework a little bit, and sell X8 as walkman phone.
come on SE,, you can do better then that..

DuDe, NOBODY was buying X8 anymore, so they had Lots of X8's left...One SE Dev came to the others and said: DUDE, We have so much X8's left and nobody ain't stupid to buy one now, lets change O/S a bit, repaint it and sell it under another name!
I bet the other SE employees were like: Hell yeah, let's do this!

They should unlock bootloader,it is unlockable by changing loader.sin but they thought this way:Someone sad:look this X8 is sell is very good lets make new series like x8.
and this is why there are three more models of x8 xperia mini and pro new and W8 walkman

It isn't present in 145 & 181 FW. Somebody told that it was in older FW, may be beta versions.

I have it with the 2.3.3 fw but I don't like it very much. The main problem is that if you tap on a contact it will just send you in the contact details, I'd prefer a quick action like call, send msg etc.

Is there any way to choose an action when you tap a photo from this widget?
For example I want to call a number from that favorite. I don't like to open the contact info. And if you have more favorites than is room on widget you can't scroll for the others. Or maybe I don't know to use it.

Tried the new Asus transformers and like the My water Live paper more than the device itself. Did a little search and those guys at Xoom have managed to port it over to Honeycomb.

As we remember, 4.0.3 has came with lot of problems (laggs, jerking video recording, low performence in games, battery drain). I suggest to type here what has changed in new OFFICIAL rom for xperia ray (mainly if bugs are solved).

You will not see the information on your phone. You have to use PC Companion or Bridge (for mac).

But an updates note? i've installed this firmware on my ray, but i don't know what changes to 4.0.3
I updated yesterday but didn't notice much difference. I have to admit, I didn't check video recording (I hardly use it) nor 3D gaming performance.
As a few others have pointed out, the notification LED didnt appear to work after receiving an SMS or email unless you woke up the screen.

I understand, you have official 4.0.4. Can you tell what about:
- recording video in hd (what about jerking)
- games performance
- laggs
- battery consumption

ok, i have found the answer by myself on sony blog. Here it is:
4.0.4 update on Xray
Pros:
*ram usage is better.UI is much more smoother.no lagging at all.
*game performanse is better.(and when exiting the game home screen opens directly.no lagging here too)
Cons:
*Calendar widget is still not showing the next event (so What's the use of this widget?)
*Video recording still lags (playback still lags)
*Dialpad is still taking 2-3 seconds to start at first try to open.
*NO notification LIGHT when you recieve a message when screen is off.
I'm still waiting for another update. Good thing is that between first and second update to ICS it was a short time.
I hope our Xperia receive the new apps soon, look great, meanwhile we only can see the videos:

Plus, if it doesn't sound to trivial, I noticed the apps on the new phones at IFA that they have really bright, beautiful designs, colourful...I like Sony style but more colour please! Less black! And these new apps have LOTS of colour :victory:
I think we just need to wait for a system dump.
What I really want its the mini apps. That looks awesome. Hope the notes apps has support for it.
