How Likely is it? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I've tried doing a bit of research and have the folowing question.
How likely is it that one handset will cover all UK 4G frquencies in the future?
EE are launching 4G on the 1800MHz frequency which is supported by the I9305 and current iPhone 5 (see below). However the I9305 also supports the 800MHz and 2600MHz frequencies, from what I have found on the ofcom web site the auction of the new 4G spectrum only appears to include the 800MHz and 2600MHz frequencies? How will only two frequencies be split between O2, Vodafone and 3?
Does this mean that the I9305 will cover all UK networks on 4G in the future?

Question regarding 1700mhz band

So I read around that the hack for the Samsung Galaxy Note I717 to get the LTE 1700mhz frequency working on T-Mobile (U.S.) and Wind/Mobi (Canada) is available.
My question is, would this or any hacks work on any LTE1700mhz band phone to work on AWS carriers running on HSPA mode?
Like the HTC One X AT&T version for example..
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
which is the same specs as the Note in terms of bands it uses...
Anyone knows??

As we all know, every device has 2 variants based on regions. The Xperia Z2 has it as well.
- the D6503 I believe is the Rest of the world
- the D6543 I believe is the NA version
- D6502 could be the Non-LTE
So as I was researching about specs I found this in GSMArena website.

I live in Asia and fly to Canada every year and I find it a hassle bringing 2 phones. The frequency bands of Z2 intrigue me.
My asian network uses 1900/2100 FOR 3G and LTE 850/1800/2100
My Canadian network (Wind) uses 1700/2100 , they have no LTE network yet
So does this mean both D6503 AND D6543 versions are compatible either networks? It sucks using 2 phones when 1 is not working with the network. (I use the S4 to take pictures. Nexus 5 camera is not so good in my opinion)

It seems weird to me that the 6543 would be missing some LTE bands and yet add none. I wonder why/how that would be. Do they actually have a different modem chip with fewer radios in it? It seems like that would be more work than just supporting the same bands on both even if some went unused on the 6543. If there's not a huge price difference it seems like you'd definitely want the 6503 just for the increased band support.
Hmm interesting. D6503 is 99% similar to D6543 except it has more frequency bands. Would definitely get the first one. I wonder why Samsung doesnt make phones with multi-bands, especially for "international i9505" version.

Im from Canada...I would just switch to rogers or bell when your here..then you only need to bring one device since mhz is the same as in asia I believe (im in manila right now ...and loving it...with a rogers device and have no issues on smart...LTE included..slow as hell but working lol).
Besides..wind sucks anyways lol!

And Im back to Canada once again, sorry to necro the thread. I just called Wind, and they confirmed my phone Xperia Z2 (model D6503) works with their network. So now, i just have to unlock my phone, just $20.

AT&T uses different frequencies with different technologies. In some areas, they may not have a license to use both frequencies and use one exclusively.
For GSM, they use 850 MHz and 1900 MHz.
For HSPA+, they use 850 MHz (Band V) and 1900 MHz (Band II)
For LTE, they use 700 MHz (Band XVII) and some 1700 MHz (Band IV)
It looks like SGP-621 is the way to go for both t-mobile and at&t.
What i meant was that the SGP621 has 1700 and 2100 and those are t-mobile bands the SGP641 could work best with att
Anyone using this on At&t? Which model. I'm about to sell either my z ultra or G3 for one.
Is there a list of ALL models? The two mentioned here are only for the US? are their other global variants? Do all get the same firmware? There should be a sticky spelling this out. I see there are different rooting methods/ROMs for the different models?

Some advice on bands please

I got a V19 phone from china with Android 5.0. I believe it is a rooted phone, I've seen some of those features. It came in a box that says Android. I have no idea of the manufacturer.
Problem: I cant get the data connection (tmobile, wifi works fine) to get better than the edge network, 2G. I've learned that T-Mobile requires these bands:
LTE Frequencies:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas
3G/4G Frequencies (WCDMA):
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
2G Frequencies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE):
1900 MHz PCS band 2
Inside the battery area the phone lists :
GSM 850/900/1800/1900mhz
WCDMA 850/2100mhz (HA)
When I got to engineering mode, I can see other bands that are greyed out.
So my question is this. Is it possible to slick this phone and install software, etc, that allows the bands I need? Or are 'Bands" hard coded into the hardware of the phone? Easier to just buy another phone with correct bands? Advice or links?

I have a new unlocked S9+ China (SM-G9650/DS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845), and I'm trying to figure out if it is fully supported by T-Mobile in the US. I've done some Googling on this, but I'm not sure I understand the results. The supported band specs for the phone, and the T-Mobile frequencies used, are below. Can someone confirm or comment whether the phone is fully supported, or if not what's missing? Thx, Gus

It will work on T-Mobile frequencies but you won't get Wifi Calling or voLTE. The stock CSC is TGY - Hong Kong, T-Mobile is TMB. I haven't found any way to change the CSC even with custom ROM, but assuming one became available you would trip Knox and lose Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Secure Folder, OTA Updates and Factory Warranty. Some members have posted in regards to changing the CSC Code in the link below but I'm not certain it's working out. Good luck!

baring any unforeseen hidden stuff, you should be good to go for Tmobile...Minus the new Band 71 on the 600mhz spectrum. Honestly, unless you live in the area that will get this deployment, this shouldn't be of concern. As long as you can use Band 2/4/12, you will be ok with Tmobile.
I almost went with this route as well since I wanted to get a Snapdragon version with larger storage size. But I chickened out because I've been reading people having bad signals/not having full LTE speeds with their imported S9+ on TMOUS.

I used CT Excel Americas (T-mobile mvno) and it worked on CHC firmware. But I forgot to test volte etc.
