My S2 music player force closes - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I would like to ask how to get my music working again.
I'm on Hyperdroid 6.1.17 (2.3.6) with RedPill kernel, and I recently put new music files on my phone.
All mp3 320kpbs and my music players just keep crashing, the standard player as well as the app 'noozy' on mypc there is no problem at all.
I think it is really strange but what should I do to fix this?
Thanks!

Try mx player...works great

a. Goto Settings - Apps - All apps - Media Storage - Clear data and reboot phone
If your music player still force closes,
b. Goto Settings - Apps - All apps - Music player - clear data and reboot phone.

Both solutions won't work, is it maybe that my music is in sub folders or something?
I'm really quite clueless at the moment

I had the same problem you did, I had to do those steps 2 or 3 times before it worked. It's worth a shot

Mm still problems..
Any other fixes?

Some of the issues with V8 passion I would like to share with

I am currently running V8 by neobuddy,
it is without a great rom! and thank you for all the devs to build this awesome rom to better our phone!
yet i am encountering some hickups,
if i update the music player, im honestly not sure its due to the update, but the music player starts to not play the music and say "can't play the track requested"
I am also suspecting this to be the "fix permission"
I am not very technical with this issues, so please mind my ignorance.
Moreover, can anybody confirm if ffc is working for V8,
I remember upto V7, the pictures were all grey and the camera was all elongated when i used ffc.
Thanks a lot guys!!
camer and video are working awesome now and as far as the music player force stop clear data and fix permissions

Thanks for the reply!
When you said camera, did you try a ffc?
If music player gets I will defintely try your recommendation.

no issues with teh google music app. it's not a system app so you can uninstall it, reboot and reinstall. that should clear any issues with it. FFC is reported as working when i searched the passion thread.
do you have your music on your SD Card? i have the same problem and i get rid of it by unmounting my SD card and remounting it

[Q] Sound issues

Hello I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 gt19100. My issue is with my sound. When I first got the phone about a month ago everything worked fine. However a couple off days ago my sound except for in call sound does not work. That is I have no ringtones, no music, no sms notification sounds. It makes no difference whether I have my headphones in or not. The music player in particular seems to have the most problems. When I touch a song to play it, it doesn't play at all. It goes to the screen with the album's picture, but the song never starts. It always remains at 00:00. Eventually the music player will crash. This leads me to believe that it software issue and not a hardware one. I've tried rooting the phone and installing a new image, I've tried formatting the SD card, however this has not fixed the sound problem. Note: This problem existed before I started rooting and installing new images.
If anyone knows anything about this issue I would greatly appreciate any help. If I've left off some information you need please don't hesitate to ask for it.

Okay...
Couple more questions... did you install anything new.. anything different that you did before the sound stopped working?
Try a different media player for music... like winamp etc and post the results...

I don't recall installing anything new. This problem seemed to crop up after I started using headphones to listen to music. But now it makes no difference whether I have the headphones plugged in or not. Still no sound either way. I downloaded Winamp and I tried PlayerPro as well. Same situation. No sound and the song track doesn't advance and remains at 00:00

Tried that too. Cleared both caches and fixed the permissions, but still songs hangs 00:00 with no sound. It should also be noted that I also have no sound for ringtones or sms notifications either.

Ok. Before we go into Drm issues, let's try this.
Download PowerAmp trial, from market.
Check if it plays sound well (it should) and report here

I used Odin. Just a reminder though that this problem surfaced before I rooted the phone. I only rooted it and installed a fresh image in an attempt to fix the problem.

i think it's time to perform a factory data reset.
First, backup your important data.
Then,
Goto Settings - Backup and Reset - Factory data reset.

Jelly Bean Audio Issue

ok i dont know if there is a fix and i had tried to find, but everytime i reboot i have have to open my audio play, whether it be google music or mog or any music player and then i have to kill it then reopen and music works. does anyone know of a fix for this to avoid in having to open and kill it on every reboot? thank u,
I cant be the only one with this prob. Come on
I cannot honestly say I have heard of anyone on JB that has such an extensive issue with Audio...
I have run JB since I got the device and besides some early issues that have already been resolved... it was still never as bad as your experiencing!
I can only say to try and go back stock 100%, then once you have go through samsung kies and do the emergency firmware restore/wipe thingy, then try going back to a freshly downloaded copy of the JB rom of your choice...
Sorry your having so many issues
It is actually only when i play music from the device not streaming. I flashed the same rom on a stock ics note and they have the same issuez.

That was really hard to read.
Are you saying that you have no sound upon booting, until you open a music file?
If so, what music effect apps do you have installed? Check in the sound panel, inside the settings app.
Do you have Volume+, MusicFX, or Volume Boost? Anything like that?

when i open up google music, i click on a file and it just hangs, until i kill the app reopen then the file starts up normal, this happens everythine i reboot i have to do this after i do that its fine until i reboot again, also when i stream music it is just find its only when i play music on the device, this also does the same with MOG
Audio hang on i717 with Jelly bean
I have the same problem but not with every music app. Power amp works no problem but the apps I use for audio books Mort Audio Book Player or Smart Audio Books do not work unless i force close and then reopen. I have sometimes avoided the problem by opening a book in an alternate method so I suspect it may be something related to how the apps store the position in a track.
I also had problems with Map my run a run tracking app that can announce when you have run a certain distance. Map my run would capture audio focus and never release it. So my music would go silent until reboot. I am running CM10 stable but think I'll go back to CM9 becuase i use the audio book apps a lot and am too impastient and easily irritated to keep having to force close the apps. I have even had to battery pull on occasion but probably only because I was too impatient for the phone to come back online.

[Q][I9300][4.4.2] What Audio Mod/Engine do you use on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300

Hi Guys,
What audio mods/engines are you guys using on your kitkat custom rom.
I have tried Viper4Android FX 2.3.3.0 but honestly did not notice any difference
[before the ppl who created this mod and ppl who use it religiously enjoy it come and kill me, sorry but i mean no disrespect]
So what more options do i have.
I am looking for mods that will
1. Not drain a lot of battery.
2. Offer good, clear, crisp audio quality.
3. be compatible with 4.4.2 KitKat Roms.
Currently on RRemix 5.1.1 + Boeffla Kernel OMNI 2.2
I have tried various customization's on my phone the last piece of my customization puzzle is good audio and so far i haven't found any good solutions.
Any help will be appreciated.
i got exactly the same rom and the same kernel and was wondering the same thing... i also tried viperforandroid and when you put it into expert mode you can change your audio to your liking (different modes of surround, gain, ...) it does make a big difference. but speaker quality still isn't what i would like it to be.

There are apps for that
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
You dont have to move it but when the app isnt a sytem apps it tends to stop the effects for a few seconds after closing the app and i find that a bit annoying

Sec MediaProvider.apk

I rooted and ran a debloater tool. Sad thing is it deleted my music player. I tried to replace it and it didn't work. I some how deleted the Sec mediaprovider.apk as well. Any clue how to fix this. I'd hate to have to use my old phone. I'm lost on how to install / replace them. Any help would be amazing.
Thanks in advance
PowerAmp. Or Google Play Music.

Just use Google Play Music as a music player... That's what I use to play music. The stock Samsung is super ugly in my opinion. What version of android are you on? Bootloader?

I never thought about branching out before. I just been using that since most of my music is on my sdcard. Anyway the Media provider apk is more what i'm worried about since my phone doesn't have any ringtones or notification tones. I'm currently running rooted 5.0.1 and I think the bootloader is still samsung. I need to sit down and install cwm just haven't yet.
Thanks!
