I have tried flashing AOKP Jellybean on my phone... But when I reboot into recovery, It doesn't give me the option "Flash Using ROM on my SD Card" or somewhat like that!
I have heard certain rumors about ROM Manager not working on our phone! Idk how to work things out from here! Please help me!
What do I do?

You haven't even rooted yet I'm guessing. Go ahead and read the stickies.
Assuming you do have a 777 and not another variant of the sgs2, then the "rumors" about rom manager not working are not rumors. It is confirmed all over this forum, all you have to do is read. Don't use it. Read the stickies before you mess up your phone.
So are u saying u have rom manager installed or not? Have u rooted and installed a kernel with cwm in it yet? Do u wear ladies undergarments? Were u the second gunman on the grassy knoll? Tell me!

I never understand this. People will post a question thread and then ditch the thread for a good 2 days then come back from the dead. Also are you sure you are getting into recovery? It's (5) Power + both volumes hold forever

Thanks for responding! Can you tell me which rom you installed first?
I had no problems going from SHOStock to Taks's latest AOKP Jellybean.
I have a nandroid of CM10 and my current Ss2 v5 and have no problems switching. Full wipe before installing CM10 and you should be good. Recommend running the 4.1.4 Siyah on CM10, makes for easier bu and restore in CWM.

You can go with SHOStock2 custom ROM blindly. I have used many custom kernals and finally satisfied with SHOStock2 ROM for the daily drivers. All you need to root your phone first, then flash this ROM, thats all. No need to root your phone again. Hope you gotcha now
Some people go to the thread of the rom they want to flash and read the instructions there so they understand what they should do before flashing that rom, and also what is unique to that rom, so as to get a feel for whether they want to flash it or not. But I suppose instead of reading and searching u could just start a new thread and have us do yer leg work for you.

So yer new to this phone. And u have a question u could have answered yourself rather than start a new thread. I can understand how u just wanted an answer, I know how that is. Job, kids... It can get overwhelming to search and spend hours reading. But. Just imagine everyone new to this phone posted a thread like this. It'd get pretty cluttered right? Sad thing is ... SHOstock actually felt a lot more responsive. Still have to strip some bloat from Cyanogen but I might just restore back to SHOstock ...

Not a Rom Manager Q~ A few days ago i rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 I777, everything was working fine and I downloaded all the suggested apps. Amongst them was Rom manager, within the app it was mentioned that there was an update for it, I then went ahead with the update which then resulted with my phone not turning on, it was partially bricked. I was still able to go into recovery mode, while there I tried wiping, installing a new rom; everything. Nothing seemed to work. I then searched for a way out of this, I once again placed it in recovery mode and followed a youtube tutorial for its recovery, using odin I place all three files in their proper places; the modem file, ext. The phone sprung back to life to my delight, but unfortunately the recovery pack was made for the Galaxy S II GT-I9100G not the sad AT&T version. So now the light up keys don't work. I have searched everywhere for a recovery pack meant for the S2 I777, but have not succeeded. I need to restore my original backup and with the kernel I am running Kies does not complete the restore.

Almost twenty replies with at least three or four being useful, and not a word from op. Hit by a bus, alien abduction, eaten by a bear?
After I successfully downloaded the update using the instructions here to 4.0.3. I have a few things to say/ask.
1. The battery takes a longer time to charge. Is it only my phone?
2. The battery percentage option that is there in settings for other phones on ics, is not there in my phone. How do I get it?
3. Some video formats which were previously supported are not supported anymore. Is there anything I can do to make them work?
4. Some songs come distorted. Is there a way I can fix them?
5. I have experienced a lag in my phone which was previously didn't happen.
6. The Facebook sync doesn't happen as well.
Please help.

Do you still have the wrong ROM (I9000) on phone right now? If so, then go back to the stock gingerbread 2.3.4 OS so you can use the zergrush exploit to root and then install mobil odin to flash a kernel (found in the general section for our phone). Or find an Odin 1-click file (Windows) with a rooted Stock GB or ICS ROM and flash that with the phone in download mode (found in the android development section for our phone). Not sure if there is a rooting method for the stock ICS you get through the Kies update. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. Clockwork Mod is used to flash custom ROM's and kernels in a custom ROM environment. Also make sure when you download somthing it comes from the SGH-I777 android development forum and not the I9000 forum.

Thank you...Rereading thread and stickies it is:good:
Best way as of now is to just flash using Odin. Lots of walkthroughs and troubleshooting are available. And don't use ROM manager with the AT&T SGS2.

Sorry to the OP there are so many people trying to get u to read stickies and blah blah blah. The easiest way to do what yer asking is to simply add more Cowbell. I'm surprised this was missed.

That's funny stuff right there. I lol'd.
Hey everyone,
Been a while since I've touched base... so I thought I would screw up my phone just as an excuse to say 'Hi!"
Anyways, been running a CM9 nightly for many months, finally got bored with it today so I found the SuperNexus rom and installed that without a hitch.
But then I got greedy.
After meticulously setting up the phone and apps again, I decided I wanted to get my CRT screen on/off animation back and thought, "Well, hey... this should be easy," so I booted into recovery and installed the zip. Hit reboot and.... nothing. The Samsung GS2 logo appears, and then it's just a black screen.
In retrospect, I imagine it has to do with some kind of incompatibility between the CRT animation I used for CM9/ICS and this new JB rom... hindsight 20/20.
If you guys could give any pointers I'd appreciate it. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I can't seem to boot into recovery. Any way I can uninstall that CRT zip, or am I stuck?
Thank you... and hi!

I swear I tried that several times and it didn't work, but now that I tried it again I was able to boot into recovery.
Would simply re-installing the SuperNexus zip overwrite this issue, or do I need to start from scratch with another factory wipe/clear data?
Thank you, again.
Hey, ninja, create a tutorial for how to get into recovery... you're an authority in that department.

Never mind, guys. I figured a wipe was unnecessary so I just reflashed the rom and everything appears to be working properly again. Appreciate the assistance with the questions, however silly they were.

Wouldn't matter they'd still say they couldn't boot into recovery. Then we'd have to point out that they aren't holding it for long enough. Then they'd say they are. Then we'd say hold it until u actually get INTO recovery mode. Then they'd respond saying oops, derp, you were right. Viscious cycle.

But at least it might be contained in a single thread... that's a huge might, I know.
