After adding clockworkmod to my G-tab I went to the next to download Tnt lite 4.2.
After everything downloaded I get an error message from window's saying that
"Window's can't open file" , then it give me the option to select web service or open using a selected file. I don't understand this because everything was going smoothy when I downloaded and added clockworkmod. Now my g- tab is wiped clean and ready for TNT transfer, but I'm stuck..Please help me. How can i get windows to open the file. I really dont get it because it opened clockwork prior to this.
what are you trying to open in windoz? you transfer file to gtab then load with cwm. cwm will handle the unzip.
TnTLite is packaged in RAR archives. You'll need a utility to open that.
get 7zip. Handles .rar just fine.

Rumbleweed is right. You don't do anything with Windows, except to transfer the .rar file to the sdcard in the gTab and let Clockwork do its thing.

Nope....your wrong....You need something to unpackage it first. Clockwork CANNOT handle .rar files. Whether you do it on windows as was previuosly suggested or on the Gtab itself, it must be pulled from the .rar first
I have Vista Home Premium 64bit and I did download WinRAR 64 bit edition. Whenever I try to install that there claims to be a corrupt file and I have downloaded it a few times from a few sites.
So I go back to the 32 bit version of WinRAR and that installs fine, but reminds me for better performance to use the 64 bit version.
Now, whenever I extract a ZIP or RAR file the Update.exe is missing or I receive a message about the CRC security not matching. AND if and only if I can get the files extracted when I try to install the ROM the Gtab is constantly stating a "status 7" error. I have tried TNT, VEGAn and 1 other ROM and each will not install.
Is there anyone who would be willing to use Skype or some other means to assist me in getting the tablet back up and running something, even if that's the stock ROM?
I do have Clockwork Mod installed already, that was the only thing that seems to have installed correctly.
Thank you in advance,
Brian
If I undertsand correctly: Youre trying to extract the contents of the "update.zip" file that comes as part of the ROM download?
If so.. you dont extract it, you leave it as "update.zip" in your sdcard directory.
I remember seeing a "pictoral" view of what your filesystem should look like in this xda somewhere. Ill try to find it.
No, I am having problem extracting the ROMs from Zip or Rar, so I went and downloaded Memtest86 just to see if there was a RAM problem. That checked out fine after an hour of testing.
Most every Zip or Rar I try to extract have CRC errors, even if it's unrelated to this site. But part of that causes the Update.zip not to extract at all and I only get the "recovery" folder and Command and the Update.zip had an error and doesn't extract.
I then tried it on a laptop with Win7 and I could extract some files then more errors, then I tried a Win XP laptop and that seemed to extract the files fine.
My latest is now the Gtab is bricked, stuck trying to install recovery that never ends. So I looked up for the USB driver and nvflash and the ROM that goes with that and the Gtab doesn't show up as a removable drive so I can transfer the files on there. I have copied them to SDcard but I can't get that to read the data.
So, at this point the Gtab is looping and I cannot get back into Clockwork or get it to show as a drive using the USB drivers and the -Vol and Power button.
Currently when I just power on the tablet in red text I get:
Magic value mismatch:
:"
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002).
FIXED
PROBLEM FIXED.
I saw another thread stating similar problem, located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026757 and followed the advice of a few people and now the Gtab is working again. Its stock ROM but the main thing is it's working again.
Hello,
I installed last week this version of android on my G9, all was fine until today when my tablet ran out of battery, I plugged it and start it again as I always do in that case. Except that today android didn't start and I got the multiboot screen which you can see in attached files. I tried both options but my tablet always restart on that screen.
When my tablet is plugged into my computer it is not recognized so I can't put a new ROM of android and make a new installation, I tried to use ADB to debug it but there are no device detected ...
Does someone have a solution to my problem ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

PS: sorry if there are language mistakes in what I wrote but i'm French so English is not my birth language.
You have 2 options right now. You can either just install stock ROM, or if you have Linux in you computer you can use sde to mount data partition to your PC and moving the ROM again in there.
Installing stock ROM is easier and faster, so I recommend doing that. You remember how it goes? Download latest firmware from achos' site an use firmware update option located in sde.

I think I already tried that : download the aos file from the official site of archos, go in recovery mode, chose upgrade firmware and copy the aos file to the drive which appears on my computer then chose ok ???
If it is that I tried and I got an error message "update failled : 221".
So if it is that could you explain me more how to do it with linux, i'm not sure I understood everything.

Okay.
That 221 sounds weird.
After booting in to Linux (livecd is sufficient, I recommend Ubuntu or variant of it), open the sde in archos and navigate to data mount option. I can't remember what it is called, but should be something like mount data partition. Then plug your tablet to PC running Linux, and the PC should find the tablet.
You should now be able to browse data on /data partition of the tablet, but writing there requires you to use superuser.
Check the path to data partition. If I remember correctly, it will be something like /media/(device name)/ but I'm not sure.
Navigate to archos.etx4.update file and use this command to move it:
sudo mv archos.ext4.update path-to-data/media/archos.ext4
If /media/path-to-data/media won't work, try using /media/path-to-data/local

I don't have mount data partition but I do have "export data partition" and "export hard disk (H models only)" in the developer edition menu, is it what you are talking about ?

Yeah, that is the one: export data partition

When I plugged my tablet, ubuntu told that I do not have the authorisation to see the content of the drive ...
Can't I do the same with windows ?

HMM.. That sounds weird, as I do not have that problem. Can you try other Linux? I think backtrack allows you to login as root, so you are able to do anything...
The filesystem of data partition is ext4 I guess... Or ext3. Windows can not read ext filesystem, so you can't use windows.

Ok I'll try an other version of linux, backtrack is downloading as i'm writing this. I'll get back to you soon.
Hi julle131, I'm currently using backtrack which as you told allows me without problems to access the data on the tablet.
I'm a little bit lost about what's next to do.
The tablet appears as a drive called "data" in which there a is folder called media as you said, inside it there are a lot of folders for various apps I had installed. If I understood correctly the goal is to find the archos.ext4 file but I can't find it ...
Can I download the archos.ext4 file and put it again on the memory of my tablet to re-install it ?

Yes you can.
Hopefylly after downloading archos.ext4, your tablet will hopefully work normally again

So, I copied archos.ext4 to in the media folder of the tablet then in recovery mode, I flashed kernel and initramfs but after that my tablet don't reboot, it don't have the multi boot menu or anything and when I press the start button nothing happens I can only access the recovery menu. Do you have any idea ?

The initramfs you flashed probably does not have multiboot menu. Keep the zImage from the rom you downloaded and get initramfs from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1578438
when you download the zip, only extract the initramfs.
Then install zImage from the original rom and initramfs from the multiboot menu thread. That should bring the multiboot menu back, and hopefully you can see the new archos.ext4 in there.
I just tried : Kernel (zImage) not found !

What i meant was to take the zImage from the rom you downloaded and initramfs from my link, and install them both.
Make a new folder to the desktop, and extract initramfs from the link i gave you in earlier post.
Now you have a new folder with initramfs inside it. Then put the zImage from the rom you downloaded to the folder.
Now you should have a folder which has initramfs AND zImage, right? Then just install them to the tablet. This way you get the multiboot and the new kernel.
It's what I did.
I chose flash kernel and Initramfs in the recovery menu and I paste inside the ramdisk the initramfs from your link and the zImage from my ROM.
I tried both version of the initramfs from the link you gave me.
Any idea, please ?
I'm still stuck on the multi boot menu ...
Can someone help me please ?
Ok, I rooted my NT using external SD card and was able to toggle between android 2.3.4 and B&N OS. I have been spending days trying to figure out how to upgrade to CM 10.2 (and have been unsuccessful due to endless tutorials posting invalid files). I finally found a tutorial on this forum and there was a part that specifically said to not mess with the drive that my nook was plugged into. Well...too many windows up, too long on forums etc...long story short...I messed with that drive.
So now my NT boots up to the B&N start up screen; but I get a forced restart error and an error message that says that nook root file stopped working. The touch screen doesn't work and I can't do anything but power off.
Is there ANYONE who can help me? I'll be eternally grateful!
You might consider trying this repart.img method described at http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/.
files won't extract
When I googled feverishly for a solution, I did find that website and tried that method. The problem that I'm having with this entire process is that most of these files are invalid, missing a part or corrupted. I've tried using WinRAR and 7-zip and neither program is able to successfully extract the files; this repart img included. This project of mine has turned into a frustrating debacle!
Thank you for your reply, though!
I'd suggest you burn a pre-made SD CM10.x image from http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2013...id-4-3-for-nook-tablet-imgsdc-boot-09aug2013/ and see if you can successfully boot and run it.
If that works you can proceed to restore the internal emmc image either by using the repart.img method or by flashing flash_stock_1.4.2.zip from https://github.com/succulent/acclaim_recovery_sdcard. See also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575489 for potential helpful info and pointers.
When I extract files, this is the message I get from most of the files I unzip. I tried the cm10.2 img file and I couldn't extract it. I included a screenshot of the error message I keep getting. I've tried several different unzip programs and it's always the same error.
Bad download? Redownloaded and same error?

Did you try the alternate mirror on Mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/download/bo2qu6v4qo9p6a2/cm_acclaim_10.2.0-RC0_13OCT2013_HD_SDC_IMG.7z?
Also FWIW I use 7-zip archive manager program (www.7-zip.org/download.html‎).
Hi. I am a newbie in flashing phones. I am having a Lenovo A850. I was planning to flash it to Android Marshmallow (CynogenMod) . It was really hard to find the ROM. Somehow I managed to find one here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-lenovo-t3724018 . Once I downloaded it, I noticed that it is in RAR format. I tried entering CWM in my phone, and the RAR file doesn't show up. CWM probably does not support flashing RAR files.
What should I do now?

What you do for a quick fix is to open the .rar file on your computer using a software like winrar, or 7zip. Then compress it using the software as a .Zip file then you can flash it easy as that.
Doing this is changing the file format all correctly with correct conversions so it should be alright. But be aware that this is a quick fix which I use and have success with. Not sure if it would work for you But it should, if it doesn't don't hit me ~ QAQ
Note that this is possible as well on phones using file manager with inbuilt rar,win support
