App to control pc without Bluetooth or network - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am setting up a stand alone HTPC and want an app that can be a user interface for various inputs. I use unified remote for a pc that is on my home network, works great. Unfortunately, the new setup will be in a location without network. It also doesn't have Bluetooth. Can this be done?

is there any remote apps which works like teamviewer where we can remote access to our PC from any network? Currently, teamviewer only available for iphone.
there's an excellent dutch app (dont know if its there in english as well)
its called TeamViewer
you can download the APK from theire website.
its actually faster than any rdp program out there.
(works through 3g/hsdpa/offcourse wifi)
even works with a poor G connection
TeamViewer is good one!
(but need client installed on your computer)

This is really frustrating - even my K700 used to do it effortlessly, so did my K750!
Now who will let SE know that everyone doesn't have a WiFi network at home?
I tried using some obsolete BT Remote apps i got on the web...but didn't work. even these apps are no longer on the market....
I found what I need, I downloaded Gmote server from http://www.gmote.org/, and get Gmote from market, it works great
But it only uses WiFi, not bluetooth.

I've been using Android-VNC-Viewer since I bought my Atrix. It's worked great so far. Best of all, it's free! You can find it in the market.
I'm using Ultra VNC on my server.
Let me know if you have any questions. It may be a bit difficult to set up at first. Good luck!

Sounds like port 5900 is closed. Google "port forward", click on the first link, and follow the instructions for your specific router.
You can verify whether or not a port is open at CanYouSeeMe dot org.
Let me know how it goes.

I used Splashtop on my old phone. Insanely quick - you could even watch videos and listen to music. Hell, I managed to do some basic stuff in photoshop!
I'm a fan of VNC, but it's not the most secure thing around.
I would set up a VPN connection to home or an SSH tunnel to use it. That will add to it's security. If you go with the port forward route, make sure you shut the forwards off, or close VNC when you don't need it. (Read, VNC alone isn't very secure)
If your not a network geek, then I highly recommend Teamviewer.
It just works, thru whatever firewall setup you sit behind. With zero configuration. You can also add ACL's to allow connections from only certain IP's/Clients to lock your install down a little better.
Been using team viewer for years now. I its the best on market. And free as well.

i use unified remote. simple, and works great
Splashtop remote is a godsend in terms of quickly showing you what's going on on your computer. It essentially makes your phone a remote display capable of not only controlling the computer, but also watching videos, and even playing games. The coolest thing for me is the ability to stream the audio from your computer to your phone. Hope this helps
This does use quite a lot of data so I suggest running it on wifi. There's a free demo as well that you can try.

[Q] Using Google TV remote app while WiFi tethering

So I've searched this for quite a while and just never for around to asking.
I use my phone as my main source of internet. I'm on the latest CM10.1 nightly and using the built in "portable WiFi hotspot".
Is there a way I can use apps such as Google TV remote while my Google TV is connected to my phone's hotspot?
Any ideas or direction?

What is wifi direct good for?

Im trying to see if you can use wifi direct to reliably transfer data on a low-latency aplication. I was wondering if you can use wifi direct for reliable data from phone to phone for applications like input like keyboards or audio
