Warranty - Nokia Lumia 800

Hello. Will i lose my warranty if i unlock my DLOAD Lumia 710? Thanks.

Yes there is a chance for losing your warranty, but mostly they will fix the issues free of cost.. Its purely based on your regional service centres..

I am from Romania, and just got my phone today, and i wanted to install homebrew apps and stuff.
I was wondering if there is a way that they find that the firmware was re-written like on some android devices(but that can be undone iirc)

This is not a Development thread, so why have you posted it here?
Moved.

any other opinions?

You can restore factory condition by this way:
1.make dload bootloader on your phone
2.download from navifirm and flash by nss fresh rom for your device
now nobody will found that your phone was rooted =)
(there is easier way: connect your phone in bootloader mode and then format connected disk. in service center you can say: "there was blackout when i installing updates by zune")

(Q) How to return to stock eclair, having nAa couple?

Hi everybody. Right now i have latest nAa rom and kernel. Id like to know how safe is the restore procedure with pc companion. Does it restore eclair and stock kernel?
Do i have to relock bootloader? Im really scared.
I really need to know this before flashing nAa kernel in another x10 mini pro.
Thanks!

Pc companion or SEUS will reflash stock rom and kernel
Yeah, if u r using pc companion, u will get a fresh stock of S.E firmware. And if u want to flash any custom ROM then, u need to root your device once again. its not gonna re-lock your boot loader. u r free to flash your custom kernel.
Thanks a lot for your answers! Now im ready to flash my friends u20.

Wow... I'm confused again. Can I restore the whole phone with pc companion without relocking bootloader???
I don't wanna touch the bootloader! And i'm planing to go back to a fresh stock eclair
If your bootloader is unlocked, repairing it with SEUS or PC Companion will not relock it, but it will restore stock eclair.
Once the bootloader is unlocked succesfully (you still can make calls and things), there is no need to touch it again, unless you want your phone back in original state for repairs under warranty.

How did you make PC Companion to detect your phone?
My x10 mini is using nAa kernel + MiniCM7.
I'm trying to flash stock kernel using PC Companion, but it doesn't even detect the phone.
It asks to mount the SD card when I plug the USB cable, but after I do that, it says "No phone connected".
It doesn't need to If you want to flash back to stock with PC Companion you can turn off your phone and disconnect it from the computer
Choose update in PC Companion, (It doesn't detect your phone) It will give you a repair option
Follow the steps and only connect your phone when it asks for it (popup asking you to connect your phone in flashmode)
The repair-option let's you choose your model and downloads the firmware for that.
Let us know how it goes

I'm going to unlock the carrier restriction of my girlfriend's x10 mini.
The problem is that I've installed nAa kernel and MiniCM7 ROM in it, and it seems that CyanogenMod 7 doesn't have na option to insert the unlock code for SIM restriction.
Searching in Google, it seems that I need to flash stock kernel and ROM to be able to insert the unlock code.
Too much headache for a simple operation that CM7 guys should have implemented...

CM7 is stock android with some extra tweaks The functionality you're looking for is part of android, i'm sure the CM7 guys didn't take it out.
I guess you want to sim-unlock the phone to use it with other carriers? In that case, just pop in a sim-card from another provider and at start-up it will ask you for your unlock-code.
It's as easy as that, but i agree there should be an option to put the code in somewhere in the user-interface

I tried to do that (inserted a SIM from another carrier), but it didn't ask me for an unlock code at the boot.
I've made sure to test with 2 different SIMs, from different carriers.
In both cases, MiniCM7 didn't ask the for carrier unlock code and the radio signal icon showed 4 empty bars with a red little icon (don't remember if an "!" or an "x"). Also, the message "No service" appeared in the screen.
I'm sure that the phone is still carrier locked, since it's working with the original carrier (where I've bought it) SIM.
Odd But I hope it works with stock eclair for you then

Yea. Sony's stock ROM has the feature to insert a carrier restriction unlock code.
It should ask you for the unlock code as soon as it boots with a SIM from a different carrier.
I really don't get why CyanogenMod guys haven't implemented such a feature in their ROMs.
Whatever. Thank you very much for the explanations.

I just bought my 710 two days ago and I used this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26697553&postcount=117
The only thing you might need to do that isn't mentioned in the guide is to take the battery out and put the phone in OSBL mode (hold the Volume Up button and connect via USB) when you want to install the unlocked bootloader with NSS.

1) If you have the unlocked bootloader you can skip to the section on installing the custom ROM. There is a test to check which bootloader you have.
Turn the phone OFF, then press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until you notice a short vibration. Plug in to the computer. If the phone turns up in disk mode (USB Mass Storage Device), then you have an unlocked bootloader. IF you're in Windows, it will ask if you want to format the disk. SAY NO

IMPORTANT !!!!!!
ONCE ROOTED,
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en and backup all your apps(on SD card)
Step 3(next step) of this post will reset(factory reset) your phone.
BACKUP ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND CALENDER ON GOOGLE
BACKUP ALL YOUR MESSAGES AND IMPORTANT STUFF !!
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SD CARD ON PC FOR SAFETY (THIS WILL BE DONE AFTER ALL BACKUPS ARE DONE I.E. LAST BACKUP)
Step 3: UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
If you have no idea about this, read this
Why exactly is this a big deal? For the general population, this doesn’t matter. However, for the modding community, locked bootloaders are simply a pain. When the bootloader is locked, certain portions of the device are unable to be customized such as recoveries or kernels. A lot of the time, when rooting a device, the first step requires the bootloader to be unlocked or bypassed. So, depending on the device in question and the will of the developer, creative Android hacking has allowed some devices with locked bootloaders to run custom ROMs. Generally, these devices aren’t as stable as they could be if the device was able to be completely customized from the ground up.
1) http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and follow the steps carefully ( skip step 13, we've already done that )
IF YOU GET STUCK ON STEP 14,DO THIS
to navigate to android SDK folder, use this command(without quotes)
"cd location_of_your_android_SDK\platform-tools"
for me, it was - "C:\androidSDK\platform-tools"
2)If you followed the rules, you will have an unlocked bootloader
3)Yipeeee !!!
4)Dont worry about your apps, they're still on your SD card
5)Restore only the apps which are very important and you cant live without them for a day..
Step 4: INSTALLING CWM(CLOCK WORK MOD / RECOVERY)
if you dont know what cwm is, just read but dont follow the steps to install it
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
1) http://www.mediafire.com/?73xv18tht0e8zt4 download cwm
2)Connect your phone in MSC (mass storage mode) mode and wait until SD card available to PC
3)increase your display time out to 2 minutes
4)Enable USB debugging and allow 3rd party/unknown sources
5)open the downloaded folder(extract first)
6)Run install-cwm1.cmd
7)sit back and enjoy!!!
8)once finished, you'll have cwm installed!!!!
9)to check if you have cwm, turn off phone
10)turn on and when sony logo appears, repeatedly press vol down button until you reach a blue colored menu, if successful, cwm is installed properly!! if not, please comment or reinstall it.
11)navigation in cwm-
go up-vol up
go down-vol down
select option-home button
previous menu-back button
thanks siddharthsure93
Step 5: TAKING A NANDROID BACKUP
if you have no idea about this, read this
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/38468-nandroid-backup-what-is-it-and-did-i-need-it/
make sure that your sd card has at least 1gb free space and you have 50% battery charge
1)Hoping that you have cwm installed, turn off phone
2)Enter cwm by repeatedly press vol down button when sony logo appears
3)go to "backup and restore"
4)select "backup"
5)wait for 10-15 minutes till your phone is backuped
6)now you have a copy of your current phone and rom memory
we do this to restore phone if something goes wrong
NOW YOU HAVE PREPARED YOUR PHONE TO GET CM9 OR ANY FU*KIN ROM !!! :good::good:
IF I GO WRONG SOMEWHERE, PLEASE CORRECT ME WE ALL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.

You will need to root your phone first. Installing a custom ROM won't automatically give you root acces. In fact, I don't think you will be able to install a custom ROM without ClockWork Mod Recovery which needs root access first. Follow Sony's own rooting guide here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0. Then install X-Parts from the Play Store to get CWM.
Once you have CWM you can install any appropriate custom ROM you like.
Oh is that gonna be painful

Use flash tool and an ftf file to update to ICS. You can go with 0.587 version for example.
After update as you are on unlocked bootloader you should flash a custom ICS kernel like suave, night elf or any other ICS compatible. This will give you root and cwm.
Look at the stickys. You will find all you need.

You can always relock the bootloader (don't know what method you used to unlock, so can't advise on how to relock - I only know how if unlocking was done through Sony). Update the firnware to stock Sony ICS using Sony's PC Companion. Then root it using Sony's rooting guide. After rooting you can unlock the bootloader again. Install X-Parts and CWM. Then try out the custom ROMs+kernels to your heart's content.

On the other hand, unlocking via official method gives you an easy option to Relock bl via flashtool!
There's a thread by Blagus on how to do that!
Btw even Relocking via setool is an option for unofficially unlocked bl users!
So there's always an option!

Yes. That's the tutorial I'm talking about. I only mentioned what I did because I've done it before. After relocking use PC Companion to update your phone. Or the Sony phone repair program. I don't remember which. If you try both (like I did) one (or both) of them will work. But still you are out of warranty. You know that, don't you?

Basically its all about DRM loss. What do I exactly lose? Only trackid? I suppose the newer versions run on unlocked bootloaders as well.

I think you are right. It's basically about losing DRM. I don't know what it is and of what use it is. All I know is I've never missed it. If you are into trying out custom ROMs then unlocking the bootloader is a must because certain custom ROMs need custom kernels. To install custom kernels you must have an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] Not Turning on After Software Update

So I just got the phone today and decided to upgrade to ics, that was a big mistake. The phone won't turn on . When I plug it into the computer it has the green charging led but when I plug it into the charger nothing just a dark green led that will blink every 10 seconds or so. don't care if I have to downgrade I just want it to work. Also when it's not plugged in it does the same dark green blink and when I try turning it on nothing no vibration or anything.
Use flashtool to unbrick your device.

Weird, maybe you flashed it wrong. Anyways, go back to GB and then flash again to ICS if you'd like to, you shouldn't get any troubles downgrading.

As for my knowledge this is not possible! but next time use the "MyPhoneExplorer" it keeps contacts in PC so whenever u flash firmware, install its client on phone and run this software on PC and then it will put all the contacts that u had on ur phone before flash. last night i had done rooting on my phone by following steps hope it will also help u for flashing a firmware via flashtool.

I don't think you'll void your contract because you are re flashing the service providers update .
Your problem may be due to incomplete flashing .

Which provider do you have? You are scared if you flash an international firmware instead of the one from your provider, you can't use sim card or what's the problem about that?

You mean your provider, right? Not your contacts like everyone else are saying. Well, nothing will happen, it's just an international firmware, you won't lose the contract... Don't worry
Don't worry bro, It has nothing to do with your Provider. Go ahead.

The other thing is can I root it if the phone won't turn on? Its not like it overheated since there is still a slight green light that blinks.

1.He upgraded his device to ics and the phone won't boot.
2.He doesn't want to downgrade (gb) or reflash (ics) using international ftf firmware (flashtool method) .
3. He always used official update software and he is afraid of voiding the CONTRACT with his service provider if he uses flashtool method.
4. Please read the op clearly he doesn't mean CONTACTS he means the CONTRACT with his service provider.
5. To the op,
Please post your problem step by step clearly and highlight the important words by using upper case letters or different color.
6. As I've never used a network contract phone I cannot comment on this thread confidently. So others please try to help the op.

One won't lose the warranty if he/she fails in an official upgrade, send it to the dealer for repair before trying oneself with Flashtool, which may alter the build.prop, and else. Right?
By the way, my Xperia Mini Pro fails to change the input method by long pressing the text input area with.431 ics ROM, any hints? Thanks.

If you have never rooted and bootloader is locked (and I think it is), please send it to service or give it to the shop where you've bought it. This is better, and because it was an official update, you should be able to claim your warranty.
If you try to do it yourself with flashtool, you will modify your phone and if they find out, your warranty is lost. So please don't flash it, give it to service

Way to remove boot logo from operator.

Hi i bought a Z5C but it got a boot logo from t-mobile is there any way to remove it?
If i make a hard reset or update the android does it get away?

So unlocking bootloader voids my warranty.
Some easy way to delete the bootanimation.zip? i tryed trough Astro file manager but i dont have premmison to rename or delet ot that section of phone.
No that won't work.
You need this: http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
Open Xperifirm and download the appropriate firmware. (I would suggest 32.2. file, it doesn't have to match your country per se, depends)
After downloading go to Tools -> Bundles -> Create and point to the downloaded files. This creates the actual FTF file needed.
Click on Flash device, choose Flashmode, choose the downloaded firmware, wipe everything (so make sure to back up your data) and follow further instructions and you're done.
