Hi,
after upgrade my Sony Xperia Neo to ICS the "Equalizer" app is not able to change the volume of bass sounds (nor the Virtualizer effect works). When I tried moving the equalizer control for low frequency nothing change.
I've tried to reinstalling the app several times, but this didn't fix the problem.
So, I unsintalled this app and installed "Music Volume HQ" app. This works a little better, because is able to change the bass sound volume.
But I really prefer the other app, and I will appreciate any help to fix this problem.
Thank you,

No, I'm not rooted. I wasn't rooted with the previous version of Android, y Equalizer worked fine.
I don't know what you mean by "BL unlocked". Sorry.
I'm using Android 4.0.4, compilation 4.1.B.0.587. I'm not using any special rom: it's standard Android ICS.
I can't post a link here because I'm new on this forum, and so there is a rule to avoid external links until I published 10 post. But the app is called "Equalizer", and it's made by Smart Android Apps, LLC.

If it was from play store then you need to speak to the developer of that app that doesnt work and ask for ICS support.
If it was on stock rom then its no longer supported

I recently made the switch from a samsung galaxy s II to the xperia S and one feature i miss the most is having call recording.
now i know that it is usually a hardware issue but i know for a fact that samsung and sony ericsson(now just sony) have never had issues with call recording and never locked it down.
When i got my phone, i went on an app hunt in the market for an app that would record both sides of a phonecall automatically, loud and clear. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find one yet.
does anyone know of an app they have tried and found to work on the xperia s?
bump... i hope someone knows of such an app...
I haven't got my Xperia S yet but once tried "Record My Calls" with my X10 and I remember it worked pretty fine. You can try it or search for other app oout there.

I am also finding a phone call recorder app for Xperia S. Pls send me an update when you got it. Thanks!

You'll need 2way call recorder patched Kernel and root...!!! In short, use DoomKernel...!!!
GS2 can do that with Total Recall without root. How can Xperia S do so? I have to keep warranty. Thanks

There are many "call recorder"... Which developer's you are using?
Hi, i also cant find any app. Tried at least ten and none works? if someone have found one, link would be welcome!
I'm buy & using CallRecorder v1.2.7 all working properly.
My Xperia S is rooted ICS.
Try it!
I too had an app on my X10 that allowed for 2 way call recordings, I cant recall the name off the top of my head (perhaps it simply was Call Recorder). What I do recall was it had a very simple icon of a red dot on a black background; perhaps that may help someone.
Thanks.

But I do remember that an older version on my Nexus used a lot of battery. Then again, everything on the Nexus did
This keeps happening in most of the versions of the player that I use. But why? Do I need to delete semc.music/walkman before?
Thanks
I just noticed there is about 6 Walkman/Xperia S app threads now and on each of them I get this message. There are also many users asking this question and we could all benefit from figuring this out.
Any ideas?

If you have installed one mod and installed another one on top of it, you get these problem So if you have any mod restore your phone to a previous time and then install a new one
Yes I agree, so I have backed up an untouched original and have been modding and restoring that one. I think I may have found an answer - I went to the music app and sound enhancement app and walkman app and cleared all data of those 3. It then worked...hopefully that will work next time I need it.
Hello. first up im new here but as i have been waiting 3 days for my activation email i have been reading a lot on this forum. but there is one thing i cant seem to find an answer for.
basically like everyone else i have the low audio jack output problem. i dont have a rooted phone and all this talk of pushing files to adjust some core settings really means nothing to me (this is my first Android phone). really couldnt work out if the phone had to be rooted or not.
as i was looking for a solution i came across Volume+ (i believe the inventor is on here and might have found the hard code fix everyone else is using) bought it and gave it a try and can confirm its definitely louder. BUT when i went to Setting -> Sounds, a new option appeared called "sound Effects" or "Music Effects" which gives me option to select between the new Volume+ and MusicFX. literally as i got here pop up screen "MusicFX has crashed" etc etc
is this normal??
what is musicFX? is it actually needed?
do i have to be rooted to do this Hard Code option that most people are using?
any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers

Just wanted to post that I have installed Viper4Android and it works beautifully on my rooted S5. This app is the #1 reason I root.
This app will change the way you think about sound (seriously). Every time I demo the difference to someone by turning it on and off they immediately ask me to install it for them.
Installed using directions by @docnok63, paraphrased below for your convenience. I have only tested this app on my rooted T-mobile S5, and only with spotify (it's the only player I use). Of course you should always backup first and only you are responsible for what you do to your device.
1. Ensure you are rooted. From this point on, grant all superuser requests.
2. Download ViPER4Android FX. Get the latest version under the "Android FX" heading.
3. Extract the 4.x .apk from the zip. If you haven't already, smart-install Busybox from the play store.
4. Move the 4.x .apk to root system/app using a root-friendly file browser of your choice. Reboot to reset permissions.
5. Launch the app (from your app drawer). Grant root to let it install drivers. I've always gone with super audio quality; I suppose it's up to you. It may ask you if it can modify some files to disable power saving...just let it happen. :good: Reboot again.
6. Go straight to settings/sound/music effects (at the bottom) and toggle Viper4Android as default.
7. Open root system/build.prop using a file explorer and text editor with root access. You change three lines of code as follows. Some may already have been changed.
Code:
Ipa.decode=true should read Ipa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
8. Save the file and reboot once more. Open the Viper4Android app and have at the sound settings; play around until you find what works for you (just make sure to check "Enable" :highfive. You can edit the settings as you have music playing. When you get it where you want it, toggle the enable button and see how far you've come.
You can explore the main app thread here for some ideas on customization.
All credit due to @viper520, @zhuhang, and @docnok63.
All I did was paraphrase. Hope this helps someone!
Mine still doesn't work D: followed these instructions exact I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.
EDIT: Does work, just doesn't work in the default Samsung galaxy music app.

I have not been able to get this to work with the stock app on any version of KK but it works fine with Poweramp. Just have all EQ and processors in Poweramp turned off and in Poweramp settings/audio/advanced tweaks make sure everything is unchecked.

WOW...it works here for me. At first it didn't. I looked for updates and it offered v2.3.3.0 Installed that and it's really noticeable with my ear buds. This is with Google music player. I have PowerAmp premium too. Have not tested on that but it for sure works with the latest APK I referenced and it is installed as a system app. One of those build.prop edits was already set while the other two needed to be changed, just an FYI. If you aren't on the latest APK, update. I am on the latest update of Alliance ROM here on my T Mobile S5 variant....fyi.
Hi guys can someone tell me what to do if i cant find the build.prop stated above on my device?
do i have to make the new one or to leave it as it be?

It's in system folder. You need to use an appropriate method of editing that allows you to change from read only to read write. Also for me you have to be running 2.3.3.0 version of Viper. And finally, at least for me, I set this up and it runs until I also use the app Poweramp. Seems as soon as I use PowerAmp with the equalizer on, it breaks the functionality within 2 seconds of starting any song. If you use the menu function while running the Viper app, look at driver staus which not only shows the version but if you are running a song it will say yes to processing which verifies the app is running. (build prop editor by JRummy Apps in Playstore is free and works great) (Of course Root Explorer is my all time favorite, paid app that has a ton of functions, including editing)
So it didn't work for me, unless deleted the mod and installed everything from scratch as a normal app instead of a system one. To make it work with Poweramp, had to enable " compatible mode", add "music fx" button to "tone/vol" screen and turn it on. Now it works.
Anyone here having trouble with signal after flashing this mod?
Or is it just me

Hey, I can't get it to stick. It keeps asking to install the driver. My rom is "Project Infinity". I tried to move it to system/app but it says it's read only. I have busy bus installed. I don't know what to do, can someone please help me?
I don't know if anyone notice that after updating to 4.4.4,everything is awesome so far except some issues that i just noticed after updated mine this morning.
One major issue im facing is the reduced sound for notification on messages, emails etc.
Volume is set to max yet the sound of notification is greatly reduced. When i tried playing the tones in the library itself, the volume are just fine. They are reduced when notification is received.
Restarting the phone does not fix it. Anyone else experiencing the same?
One more issue is the lowered frame rate in camera mode. Its not as smoother as before update. It lags just like the camera mode on iphones. I still can take well photos though.
UPDATE : i actually did a factory reset and the camera lag indeed disappear! love the fast focus. Or you can just simply clear the camera data in setting and that should do the trick.
Also regarding the notification sound, try to pick a longer and striking ringtone as they tend to sound louder and noticeable even in reduced volume. Using the tone called Soft Bells which serves enough sound of alert. It solves my problem for now. Overall im happy with this update
You need to do wipe data , install a fresh Rom with factory data reset
it is recommended when update from one android version to another like ( 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 )
hmm is there alternative fix option? because i do not wish to go through the hassles of restoring everything..

Is Factory data reset really solve this notification sound issue?
My Z2 with 0.314 firmware had same issue. and new firmware didn't fix it.
Same issue here before 4.4.4 it was really loud
After the update its really low sound, whats going on here? can anyone just confirm if installing a fresh rom solves this issue casue i dont think everyone in the world is gonna fix the issue by installing rom with flashtool...
My Z2 has had really low notifications from day 1 ive tried every single mod known to man also hoped with each new update SONY would fix it which will never happen as the y wont admit theres a problem
If we cant root 4.4.4 how can we apply this mod ?
Sony DOESN'T need to admit as prior to the 4.4.4 update, nobody was complaining about notification sound.

I rooted 4.4.2, installed xposed and viper4android, I cranked up my volumes and all is well. With headset off, I can lower the volume to the last step and it's still pretty loud. Maybe too loud lol.
Anyway, root is beautiful and viper4android is just a requirement for me since my galaxy s3. Look into it, wait for a rooting method and just mess with those sound options for now.
There might be a patch if it's really that bad still.
I think I'll wait for updating to 4.4.4 Thanks for the heads up.

That is not true. On my .314 driven Z2 the notification sound is lower when I get a message or something(I actually tested the thing many times to see if I was right and I was) than when I play the same notification tone in sound picker in settings with media volume taken to maximum. Call ringtones, on the other hand, they work the same, be it settings or nomal day usage.
So there is problem and do little research before you say something that is not truth because many people complained about that. But we didn't spam Sony with it enough so they don't care.
clear audio +
is clear audio helping out? i mean to say that even if there is no xloud included , is sound louder in clear audio + ?
Those mods are for further enhancement and not a remedy as there isn't any existing notification issue prior to 4.4.4
What do you mean further research? It's a fact that notification sound wasnt an issue for majority of users before 4.4.4, maybe I shouldn't blanket it to everyone and there's a sad 1% who claimed to have notification sound issues.
