bought an xperia s few days back...its battery life is downright pathetic i get 4-5hrs of battery life on moderate usage...did a factory reset today but still nothing....i keep the display at 50% brightness and the bravia engine off
any solutions
i am on .45 ics firmware
and on a side note is it just me or does the camera sucks the pics especially the indoor ones are way to noisey
50% brightness? You really need that much? Mine at around 25%, I think is enough for me even on outside (I set it to 35% on sunlight).
Pictures noisy even on indoors? I think your device is faulty, because mine are awesome, even on outside. Just on low light that they are a quite lot noisy.
Battery ain't that great man , but thats the only thing i find a little bit annoying .. other than that android and sony say that you can charge your phone as much as you want and it wont hurt battery life so recharge when you can
agree with the guy above i only need about 25% of brightness .. at first it might seem too dim but your eyes will get use to it and you won't see it as a problem
keep anything you don't use off like GPS bluetooth NFC or anything like that .
Sony was forced to seal the battery in because of NFC .. its the way the device is built , some people tweaked the phone ( cut the plastic in a pro way that you can buy 2 batteries lets say and switch between them .. ) check youtube * .
update your phone to 6.1.A.2.50 ( connect to pc companion if it wasn't pushed to your device ) battery life is slightly improved
one last thing you can buy an externel battery charger to charge you phone on the go like for example :
http://www.amazon.com/PowerGen-External-Blackberry-Sensation-Thunderbolt/dp/B005VBNYDS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350202242&sr=8-1&keywords=powergen
Thats about it hope i've helped

i use my phone outdoors mainly on weekends..when going out partying etc.
within 12 hours..the battery level becomes so low..that many times i was stuck on the road because i had no way to call a taxi because my phones battery was dead.
-standby time has increased a lot with updates...its good
-but the actual usage time is ridiculously low.....if i keep using WhatsApp or texting people...the phones battery drops really fast.
and if i am gaming..i usually do it with the charging cable plugged in...like a laptop.
i can never even think of watching videos or listening to music on my phone..the battery level falls visibly fast.
so have you guys found any solution?
is there a better battery out there?
is there any app?
is there any secret battery life sucking app? (i disable face recognition)
I am scared to buy a bluetooth headset..because phones battery will be dead within 5-6 hours if i use bluetooth

buy an extended battery ..sure it bulks the phone up but the lifespan of the battery is worth it if your a heavy user
read the thread here
I bought one (cameron sino 2600 mah) and I've gone from paltry 5'ish hrs a day to 30-40+ hrs at its best (dependent on usage) ..
Altho I've absolutely hammered it a couple of times testing it to its limits using bluetooth wifi and gps and more than normal brightness I still got almost 12+ hrs lol
I would say its a definite investment for me anyway
A top tip for battery saving is manually check emails or twitter etc (unless you really need it to self check) .... instead of auto notifications this will stop the phone using battery power when your not using it yourself
Also if your connection switches on the move from H/3G to G/E then it will also consume more battery
r u using se firmware or roms? i have better battery life with roms than i had with se firmware.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.3.2 gingerbread rom from rdannar
maybe carrying an extra battery can help you (not a charging pack, but an extra x10 fully charged battery)
the battery won't be much impresive after optimize
becuz i've optimized mine, it work the same
very bad performance
i think you should calibrate your battery as mentioned here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943626
I calibrated it yesterday and my battery life almost got doubled
I bought a second battery and an SE EP-900 charger!
Now, I am never short of battery life, without the extra bulk!
As a prospective buyer,I would like to hear from users of the SXP here in India ?

I have an Xperia S, and after looking at my phone my roomie liked the way it looked and bought the Xperia P as he was not comfortable with the size of the S.
It's been two days, but since due to AIRTEL not being able to provide him a Micro SIM, He's just using it over WIFI for now till he get's the Micro SIM
Got it for Rs.25000 from Sangeetha Mobiles in Bangalore on Saturday. They threw in a Bluetooth earpiece as well.
It's looking good till now , with the battery lasting pretty well while playing games and listening to music and also while on WIFI. But, I dont know how long the battery lasts with the Mobile network turned on. My estimate is that it'll last for a day and you'll have to charge it at least once every 24 hours with moderate to slightly heavy usage.
As far as User Xperiance is concerned, based on feedback from the XS and the XP, The sony stock launcher is the only one i feel that i can continue using without the need for a replacement launcher, but that is left up to you. The included widgets are not gimmicky and pretty usefull, maybe except for Timescape friends. But that is also a personal preference.
The phone has been running smoothly without any noticeable lag until now. Display looks pretty good, Camera is similar to that of my XS . The photos are pretty sharp and there is enough detail in them. Shot to shot time is less than 1.5 seconds. Also the Auto Scene recognition feature works pretty well and is pretty good while shooting macros.
It's a good phone and i think you can go for it.
Sidenote : this is my roommates first Android. wait Smartphone. and he's extremely impressed.
Let me know if you get it.

the build quality feels solid, and as for the case, he isn't using one. He uses the pouch provided along with it when he carries it in his pocket. I think Sangeetha mobiles have stock of the red one, look there.
Others who have been asking : Death grip not noticed. asn as said Battery gets better with use. Both on the P and on the S.

Hey bought this mobile just this sunday for rs.23200 from mobile point, vile parle mumbai ! was greatly impressed with the screen and the viewing angles as well as the camera quality ! coming to the battery life on my second charge the batery lasted a full 34.5hrs on moderate use ! i charged it on sunday night and then went to sleep ! the display time came to 3 hrs and 45 mins before getting drained, apllication time came to 1 hr and 47 mins, music came around 1 hr and 30 mins(nt included in display time), calls on 2g came to 25mins , web browsing via Wifi was 30 mins, synching my accounts and crating a google account for android market took me 20 mins via gprs ! camera just used for 20 mins and the rest of the time i spent on changing the settings, wallpapers and other apps! removing my idle time of approximately 18 hrs (2 nights sleeps of 7 hr each and another 4 hrs in classes) i guess it provided me with 16 to 18 hrs of use while i was awake ! thx sortof fine to me i guess ! can others also post their reviews about their battery usuage !
34.5 hrs ? that's awesome man.. Mine just lasted some 4 to 5 hours the first day, and was really a let down. But things have changed over last couple of days and I'm getting arround 12 hrs on moderate usage. That includes some 20 mins of gaming (TempleRun), browsing for 15 mins, auto sync n data enabled through out and some 45 mins of talking. I think the battery needs to go through a couple of charging cycles to attain it's optimal performance. Anyways it's a great phone and i'm in love with it.

hey please note: my phone was idle for around 16 to 17 hrs ie while i was asleep or while in classes . so if u deduct dat i too get somewhere around 17 or 18 hrs of practical use! my brightness was automatic with powersaver on ! live wallpaper was switched off, data traffic was turned on only when logging onto the net and last bt nt d least auto sync and permission for apps to use data was disabled . also turn off haptic feedback ie vibrations u get when u use the back, home buttons was turned on ! i mean i did everything to save my battery well i guess battery drains a lot while the networks and wireless are on ! today i left the bluetooth on for somwhere abt 2 or 2 and half hrs and my battery life is 60% after abt 7 and half hours !
Hey, thanks for this thread mate. +1
I am also planning to buy Xperia P as my first Android phone. I just want to confirm that wether it's is battery life is good or not.

I have recently bought the Sony Xperia Z2 and like everyone else, I take extra care of my phone when its new. One thing I would like to preserve is the battery and keep it as good as it is till my next upgrade.
My question is, is it bad to use a phone while its charging? Would this have any negative affect on the battery or is it perfectly fine to do so?
I don't see very light usage of it while charging causing any issues, if you are playing a game or doing something more demanding then it might possibly cause issues with battery reporting. I just charge mine at night while sleeping.
It's better not to do it but in our age it won't be a problem if u ask me.

Only if...
Give it concern if u r keeping the phone for more than a year, if not then enjoy without complaining!
To preserve your battery as long as possible, no. Also, top up the charge as often as possible, not allowing it to drop below around 40% and don't charge it higher than 70%.
Of course this is a bit unrealistic and will likely lower your enjoyment of the device. But I do recommend not fully charging your phone (only go as high as 90% at most) as the last part of a charge strains the battery a lot and you don't lose much capacity (especially with this phone). Like someone else said, too, light usage while charging won't do much damage.
For more information read this: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
you can use if while it's on charge but don't play high graphics games or video calling ( skype )
light usage such as chatting on facebook is fine, as long its not draining the battery it is fine else if you fine the battery abnormal, you can calibrate it again, check this link for more info : http://www.androidauthority.com/how...attery-and-achieve-longer-battery-life-43307/

Yes.
The Z2 emits more heat while charging. The heat is prejudicial to the battery even more the motherboard and other part, which slows in taking bad effect.
If you use it while charging, the battery will more short-lived than others.
Hello everyone. My alpha has got serious battery drain 1 hour use and by use I mean WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook... And from 100% it goes to 70. So, is there a way to improve the battery life or is it because the phone sucks? I don't know if it's still a good phone in 2017.. Thanks anyway!!
WTH 30 % for one hour is pretty normal
Is it also normal that my phone turns off at 18% or sometimes 5%?
The battery for this phone is rubbish however it sounds like yours is faulty. I had the same symptoms after about 8 months with my stock alpha and replaced the battery with an unofficial from Amazon. Works fine now and has lasted much better than the Samsung official.
Samsung really screwed the pooch with this phone. CPU, screen and aluminium body (indestructible) are great but terrible battery and no software update is a real middle finger. It did not ship enough units so they think **** the people who actually bought it.
Absolutely right. Thanks a lot.
Try PolarCell made in Germany , 2000mAh , new technology . It's great for me . All the best .
I also replaced my battery already. One year of use.
The symptoms were the same, it turned off at 15% or sometimes 5%... It also charged itself faster, a sign that the cells were not in good condition anymore.
It seems that in addition to have little capacity Alpha battery also has a short durability.
I preferred an original battery (13€)... I should buy another just in case, soon they will disappear.
Well if you are rooted, you might try to reset the battery stats. This helped me a bit. But overall the 8 core and the AMOLED are sucking the small battery pretty hard ...
I got this amazing offer on moto Z more than 50% off. Should i buy it. i read alot of reviews that battery life sucks or volte problem or Bluetooth or wifi problems i am just really confused. Should i just buy a mid tier phone with mid tier secs and forget the flagship of 2016.
I paid 400$ for it when I encountered a 50% reduction in August(it costs 800$ in Croatia) and I can tell you this:
If you don't care about battery life(which is logically not great since it's a 2650 mAh with a 1440p screen, but you do get a 5.2mm thin body),this phone can't be beaten by anything under 400$(I am the type of person who buys a phone and gets bored of it within a month, yet I still adore this device). The battery also charges from 0 to 100% in an hour and you can buy a battery mod if you really need a lot of juice on the go.
what other problems are you facing ?
how much screen on time are you getting ? are there any other problems ?

With a custom rom(and a full black theme) the on-screen time is a lot higher. Honestly, I don't count that much but I get through a regular day without issues(listen to music on my way to college, take a few pics here and there, go through the web, chat, play non-intensive games, listen to music on the way back). It definitely helps that the battery charges fast.
Agree with above, just got mine 1 week ago for similar price. Obviously still tinkering but my opinion so far :
- If you are okay with bad battery life (max 4 hours SoT with stock rom & careful usage for me), it's a definite buy with that price.
- Mediocre camera can be fixed by using Google Camera HDR+ port for Snapdragon 820. It is recently ported and we can hope for better port in the future.
- If you are afraid of AMOLED burn in, there are many options to prevent it. Personally, I am using Tiles + Edge Gesture for non-root user.
- Major drawback is battery life, it can be fixed to some extent with custom rom & full dark theme as mentioned above. Or, try to find bargain for battery power pack. But, I just found out that using power pack will cause Doze never kick in, so battery drain is high. Seems installing NapTime to force doze while charging did the trick for me but still testing.
At that price if you don't want it let us know where to get it. With the Turbo Power adding just $79 if you really want very long battery life or the $49 for a slim Power Pack for long battery life you still have a good deal. It's a way to charge your phone differently it might make you a Z fan. I think mods are awesome and the battery mod can prolong the life and health of the internal battery using efficiency mode.
