So i bought myself a Sony Xperia S today. I charged it fully and everything worked perfect. Now i wanted to update to 4.0.4. Downloaded sony pc companion. One driver failed to install. So i googled it, downloaded sony update service, ran it. Tried to update my phone with this one and since then every time i boot my phone only Sony logo comes up and stays there (NOTHING else happens). I cant do nothing. When i plug it, green light is on for 5 seconds and then Sony logo comes again(green light goes off) and it also says not connected to pc. Help me please!
I Don't Know What Went Wrong..Becoz Usually With SUS It Shouldn't Be Happening..
Now U Need To Install The Latest Flash And Download The FTF Firmware Frm Development Section And Flash It.. Every Thng Will B Fine Then.,!!!

A quick simple to use fix is Re-flashing using SEUS "sony Erricson Update Service"
Or using the FlashTool from the development thread.
AFter 11 retrys on SEUS it installed the update.
when the phone turned on i saw a picture of a camera and after that a sony ericson logo.
And then it turned off and it doesnt go on again.
Even with the new battery installed + a new cable????
But the green light says its charging but maybe it isnt?
USB port problem?????
Finally got it going android starts everything works but now the phone turns off out of nowhere?
Hi everyone
yesterday I bought a X10 (it wasn't brand new)
I turned it on and it asked me for settings (language, time, etc) (yeah it's not new but they changed the rom before sell it to me)
I worked with it for like 10-15min and I got a big vibrate and it turned off. I pluged it into the charger, there was an orange led for 5min and then nothing, when I tried to turn the phone on I saw SE logo and it restarted. I plugged it to the charger, nothing again, not even orange led
I took it to a store and they shocked the battery, i came back, turned it on, it booted ok everything was fine,I plugged it again to full charge. orange led for 1.5h and then green led.I worked with it a short time then turned it off to put the sim and sd card in
when I turned it on it booted till lock screen and rebooted. again SE logo then boot again
it sometimes boot till lock screen sometimes only se logo and reboot
when it goes to lock screen I see antena has red x on it, i thought maybe that's the problem, i removed sim and sd, still the same
Please please please help me
ps 1: I can't connect it to the pc, I tried but when pc wants to recognize it and install drivers, it stops and says "not successful"
Have a look in the dev section for flashtool (there's a tutorial in the q&a section), look in the firmwares sticky in the dev section and download the firmware for your region. I suggest you pick a generic firmware. Now use flashtool to flash the firmware to the phone.
This should solve the problem.
thank you Frosty for fast answer
but my problem is my pc dosen't recognize the phone
flashtool works even without drivers?
Flashtool works in flash mode. If you can't get your computer to recognise the phone when it is powered on, it should still recognise it in flash mode. If not, there is an option in flashtool to install the drivers.
Sent from my x10, rocking Wolf's 2.3.3 + DooMKernel, overclocked to 1.2 GHz...
good, so I think I still have a chance to fix it
btw, now I have stock 2.3.3 installed
which rom do you recommend? should I install 2.3.3 again or downgrade to 2.1?
I want it to support farsi
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUSTOMIZEDARO-ARO GENERIC 1241-1846
is right?
You could do 2.3.3 or 2.1. It shouldn't matter.
As for Farsi support, 2.1 supports more languages than 2.3.3 I think. I just checked the list of available languages on my 2.3.3 ROM and Farsi isn't listed. 2.1 might support it.
You could always try both to see which one better suits your needs.
That firmware you have is 2.3.3, by the way.
thank you so much frosty
I asked if i could install 2.3.3 because now have 2.3.3 and i have this problem. installing same version will fix it?
and one question about baseband
should i download one or it comes in firmware pack/zip
if I have to download it, how do I know which one?
Your're welcome.
Oh, in that case, you should be fine.
The baseband is included in the firmware file.
I'm facing a weird problem
I can't turn my phone on, I've been told to try flashtool and install a new rom
my old rom was 2.3.3
I downloaded flashtool and X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUSTOMIZEDARO-ARO GENERIC 1241-1846
first time I tried instrudoction in second post in this topic. it seems flashtool recognized my device and startet flashing but after a few min it said flash aborted
I wanted to try again but this time even before i connect the device to usb cable, flashtool say flashing start and nothing happen
I also tried SE update service, it downloaded the rom and it seem it worked (second green bar went to the end and said disconnect phone and restart)
I restart the phone but it reset after SE logo, sometime it boot till lock screen and reset again
Please help me
Sorry to say this, but you might be out of luck.
If re-flashing stock couldn't fix it, your issue may be a hardware problem.
Do you have any sort of warranty? If it's second hand, you probably don't.
You could try taking it to a Sony Ericsson service center and see if they can do anything.
omg
I'm officially beeeeeep
thanks anyway Frosty
btw, pc campanion and se update service do something different
is it possible that pc companion can fix it?
Well you could try. Couldn't hurt.
Hi guys/girls/undecideds,
My phone made me a sad panda recently when it stopped booting correctly - on startup it vibrates as it should, the screen lights up, but does nothing more - it does NOT reach the sony-ericsson logo that comes up, and the light goes off. It continues to repeat this loop about once every five or so seconds.
Obviously, not being a total moron (i'm only like, 40% moron), my first thought was to reflash the software, but I can't, because every time I connect the phone to flashtool, it disconnects a couple of seconds later and obviously, the flashing fails.
Can you help me find my smile?

It's behind the cupboard on the second floor, you left it there last week
But on a more serious note, have you tried doing a repair using either SEUS or PC Companion? It flashes your phone all the way back to original firmware, but that's always better than nothing
Yes, i've since repaired the firmware and the problem persists.
If you start it up, does the led flash red?
Nothing from the LED. Only time I can see the LED is when it's on charge.
uhmmm... i guess Sony-Ericsson repair center would be an option at this point, wouldn't know what it could be.
Was this just random? Or any damange happend?.. Looks like some harware issue.. If u can find some video's on youtube make for disassmely n check if internal the connection are connected properly. Specially the flex which connects to the motherboard.

Yes, disassembled and reassembled the phone and checked all the internal connections, and everything seems fine as far as I can tell - I disconnected and then reconnected all the connections anyway just in case, and the problem persists.
Problem just started one day, but I was drunk at the time (surprise surprise) so it's not inconceivable that it MAY have taken some damage, but I'm very much certain it did not.
Ok can u tel which ROM n kernel u are on?? N after connecting ur phone into flash mode ( as u said in the main thread ) it disconnects, can u tell which error it reports from its log..
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
No idea which rom and kernel - what's on it currently will be the latest firmware that PC companion repairs with.
I can't tell which error it is, it just says "error: flashing aborted" in flashtool.

Once, I got the same problem as you... I solved it via SEUS... Seeing you said 'PC Companion', I suugest you to use SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service). Those are two different programs..
Hopefully, it helps..
And, by the way, what happened when you open flashtool, and connect your phone in flash mode ? Does it keep getting errors, or just when you tried to flash some kernel ?

Hello I have an experia ray st18 and i had android 4.0.4 and a open bootloader. For a couple days I bought a new Display and replaced the old one after i was finished i did make the software new with flashtool. The Handy worked for 2 or free 3 days perfectly and then suddently it stop by the sony logo when i turned it on.Now i tried so much to get the ray working but nothing worked. The last thing i did I put new TA files on it but this didn't worked maybe i used the wrong files. After that i looked the bootloader and used SUS to make Factory defauls and copy new software on the phone .But still the phone stop by sony logo.Sorry for my bad english.I hope somebody can help me .
I can hardly undrstand your English.
did you try to flash the stock using flashtool?
shutdown your phone, and hold on volume down while connecting phone to pc.
you will see the led notification lighting in green.
flash the stock after you place it in firmware folder.

Yes i used Flashtool and the Volume button. This is no problem to flash the software but after that the software not booting it stopt when the sony logo appears.I tried to repair the phone with "fix fota bricked" but still the software don't boot into the system. After that i closed my bootloader because it was open before and with a open bootloader i am unable to use Sony Update service. With the closed bootloader i used SUS with the settings (factory default+ new Software) after copying the new software i reboot my phone and still it stop when the sony logo appears.I hope you understand my english now a little bit better
AW: [Q] Brocken Xperia Ray no booting
what happens when you replace the new display with the old original one?
If you have a recovery try flashing something from it

Use flashtool to flash everything from the same version of firmware, meaning baseband, kernel, and stock ROM.
After replacing the Display i flashed the same software "android 4.0.4" that was already on the phone for the last year. The phone worked then for 2-3 days fine. The Batterie was empty and i put it on the charger then i tried to start the phone and nothing happens i just can see the sony logo.
Story abaut the phone:
I bought it for maybe a year ago with android 2.3.4 i flashed it with android 4.0.4 then i used the kernel 4.0.3 to get root access. Then i flashed the kernel 4.0.4.I deleted Facebook etc.all the apps i didn't want to have on the phone. Then I used the phone for a year I bought a new one and my girlfriend would have my Ray so i decided to repair the display and make new software on it because she want facebook etc.

Hello
I got this phone some years ago, then i gave it to my mother she said one day it got out of battery then after many hours trying to charge it did not charge.
I tried to charge the phone, i get some flashing red light then it tries to boot
shows the sony logo then it goes black and does it again about 5 more times then it just go off.
I flashed the stock rom using sony software it was successful but it still does the same.
The phone is not rooted / not bootloader unlocked.
After one day charging still does the same. I am able to get green light to flash but i am not able to recover it.
Any ideas? i was thinking maybe if there is a gingerbread ftf rom i could fix it, but everything here is zipped and there is not ftf rom no custom
....thanks

Just force reboot your phone with Square button+Power button and reflash with SEUS or Flashtool. It worked for me. Try it. I don't think that there is a GB.ftf file, only the stock 2.1 one. Press thanks if I helped you in some way.
