To answer your questions :
ICS : Is a newer version of android which has alot of benefits over the last one (GB)...like better RAM Managing, faster OS/UI,better browsing, looks alot better, battery lasts more etc.
1)Yes you can switch back to gingerbread ,easy : Just download the GB .ftf file with flashtool.
2)Upgrading is official, rooting isnt : Sony's warranty remains after rooting, just dont unlock your bootloader (Basically.its like a BIOS in a PC)
3)ROM : It means 2 things, 1) Read Only Memory (Not our Case) and 2)OS System (Our Case) : Basically its like Windows for PC,a ROM is a Operative System you can install on your handheld device....why is it called "ROM" ? Because older phones had their OS in a Read ONLY Memory which was very hard to flash/overwrite.Where do you get them ? : All around the web,but the best ones are here in XDA ,under "Xperia U Android Development".
4)Yes,on ICS you can basically enjoy ALL of GB's files + a few more ,like Nova Launcher etc.
5)FTF files are flashable files(Normally ROM's) which you can flash(install) with programs like "Flashtool" ,the advantage of FTF files is that its clean flashing without losing warranty(Unlocking bootloader + CWM),the disadvantage is that mostly FTF files are ONLY original and Genuine ROM's,not Modded ones.
Hope that answers your questions ,if you got any other ones, feel free to ask.

You're welcome.
1)To root your phone go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460.
And download the latest one v15 ,then just follow the instructions.
2)The advantages are that you will then have Administrator rights over your phone : You can now edit and modify absolutely everything, starting from deleting applications that came with the phone (For exemple : "Video Unlimited" or "Timescape" etc) to gain performance and free memory, and to do more advanced configurations, like Processor modification ,graphical driver changing (Chainfire 3D),build.prop tweaks... but these last few ones i dont advise if you're not an advanced user as you can brick your phone.
Brick = Make your device useless by doing problematic modifications....but if you did not unlock your bootloader, any "Bricks" can be fixed with PC Companion "Repair tool".
3)Not everyone roots their phone. Only people who arent happy with something about the phone (Software) and wants to tweak/modify or change. If you're happy with the phone how it is,i dont advise you root it.
4)Its not official because 60% of android users dont even know how to properly use the phone how it comes from the manufacturer....if you grant them root from the start....they would make a mess of the phone and there would be alot more "RMA" than there are.
The easy answer is : Because most people pretty much shouldnt have root as Android is a very nice ....but in the same time very sensible OS.
One small character error (Put M instead of N) in for exemple, the build.prop file...and the phone becomes useless until you "Repair" it with PC Companion ,or even worse,if its bootloader is unlocked ,totally bricked.
EDIT : Im not sure that you distinguish the diferences between "Rooting" and "Flashing/Upgrading". So in case you didnt get it :
Flash/Upgrade : Is upgrading or flashing another ROM or Android Version.
Rooting : Gaining Administrator rights on your Phone.
If ya need anything more mate, feel free to ask.

I'm going mad here.
I've been trying to root with Bin4rys method for ages. Can't do the flashtool method either. I have Xperia U on ICS flashed with flashtool but it doesn't think my phone is in debugging mode which it is so I can root it.I've tried everything I can think of.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

Try Bin4ry's method following these steps :
1)Download v15 .zip
2)Extract it wherever you want.
3)Go to the folder you've extracted.
4)Plug in your phone WITHOUT debugging mode
5)Activate debugging now
6)Right click on "RunMe.bat" and select "Run as administrator"
7)Press 1 on the MSDos Menu ("Normal)
8)Wait...the phone will show up a menu with "Restore" ,,press on the "Restore" button on the bottom of the screen.
9)Now leave the phone on your table and let it finish (Dont unplug the phone yet). It will reboot 2 times.
10)After the 2 reboots, press "Enter" or any key on the Bin4ry MSDOS prompt on your computer.
11)Unplug your phone and you're Done.
Those steps work perfectly, just dont miss any of em.

Nope. Not working for me. I have followed your instructions and other people's to the letter.
I pressed 1, then enter, then it just says,
demon not running, starting now on port 5037
demon started successfully
then it stays there forever. Nothing happens with the phone or the green script.

I think it's something to do with me flashing ICS with flashtool. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the stock ICS rom. I managed to get root when it was running GB.

Its a very questionable question .
No,rooting should not void your warranty.
I repeat ..."Should" , Sony said that only if you Unlock the bootloader, then you void your warranty, but they did not say anything about root....not that yes and nor that no.
Most people who bricked their rooted device had it repaired without any problem by the warranty.
So i cant say a 100% sure answer but ill say :
Its 85% safe to root and not void your warranty.
It depends on you really, but as i said, mostly its ok.

Thats why you should use Bin4ry's method, and follow my instructions from this Thread on Page 1.
PS : If flashtool says phone isnt connected, you're probably missing some drivers. Go to the flashtool folder -> drivers folder -> execute the installer.
And select ALL the drivers, then install them and then try again.

Hi
Would really appreciate your guidance:
Ive an Xperia Go St27i on GB2.3.7 6.0.8.3.184
Which steps (linking me there would suffice if exist) should I follow to root the phone? Is this phone's firmware interchangeable with Xperia U or Sola ?
My understanding at this stage is that I should UPGRADE TO ICS then use this guide here to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Do you agree? Thanks in advance. :good:
please help
currently i'm using xperia u android4.04, my question is: will my xperia u be upgraded to android 4.1jelly bean by sony??? and if not than how can i root it and upgrade to jellybean??? pls do reply.....

I updated it to latest release of android 2.1
The Build number if 2.1.A.0.435
Kernel : 2.6.29
Baseband version : 2.1.54
It includes multitouch,hd video recording,5 homescreens etc..
So should i root it to get 2.2 Froyo ?
Somewhere i read that if you root your phone, your warranty is voided but i also read that if you flash back to your original firmware, you get back your warranty.
Well i am from india,so the phone is not locked(i think) because i can insert sim of any company on it.
So will my warranty voided if i root my phone ?
Are there any risks if we root our phone and is it worth the risk ?
thanks to the developers working here we have a completely safe way to root our phones (of course it is easy as well)
first you need is to download the flashtool 0.26 (in the X10 android development forum)
then connect your phone into PC in the usb debugging mode
open the flashtool and click the root button, the programme will push the root permission onto your device
then install busybox and superuser from market
as for risks, i'm not a pro here so if anyone can also answer about that =P
But what about warranty ? Thats my major conern

If you don't change your firmware, then rooting your phone shouldn't void your warranty. So this method shouldn't void your warranty.
You can flash a stock firmware back to make it appear as if u did nothing. From what I read ppl have had full success with that.

While you're there, just push the JIT function on - makes a huge difference to performance
I just had one more doubt : Does Rooting Format your phone ?
@goRt : Can you please tell me a bit more about JIT ?
@mrljlamon : Do i need to backup my current firmware or it will automatically be done by SEUS ?
No!

Well i finally rooted it .. using superoneclick 1.6.5
Now what can i do more on it ?
JIT, or the "just in time compiler" is the algorithm used in froyo to enhance the speed of the system
there's a post on that mod in the android development section, which requires you to install xRecovery to flash that into your phone (refer to that post for more details)
for warranty issues, yes, rooting will void your warranty
but reverting everything back to stock is easy as you can flash back to the stock rom using the xda global version or go to SEUS and select the 'recover/repair' option
Wait!
Perhaps you should wait until a Absolutely stable, Daily use Rom get released!
hey bro
i just got my xperia x10i for about 2 weeks ago
And yesterday i finally able to root it (lol too slow)
i tried the z4root its not working for me, so i try the superoneclick and yes it rooted mine
After that i try reflash my xperia with official firmware agian, walla! it back to whatever you got from Sony Ericsson store (non root-ed etc) i doing this just to test whether will it unroot and yes it will unroot if you run the pc compian update tools
And i re-root agn now its rooted (i am going to try honeycomb mod soon)
And rooting might void waranty but, unroot it then warraty should be back
And if you follow the instruction welly, then i guess no problem will occur on ur x10i
Thanks all ...
I finally rooted my phone using superoneclick v1.6.5
then installed jit and removed crap apps.
Thanks to XDA people ..
Kinda got stuck in between on SE screen but kinda figured how to work again ..
yes, normally first boots after flashing/ installing stuff through xRecovery are longer.
just be patient with that
Hello XDA Members!
I just changed from galaxy mini to sony ericsson live with walkman.
The phone comes just out of the box.
It has android 2.3.4 installed with sony ericsson firmware 4.0.1.A.0.283.
So what do i want to achieve with my new phone?!
1. root acces
2. update firmware to 4.0.2.A.0.62
3. install cwm to use it later for installing other roms
4. flash a new kernel to use link2sd and move apps to sd-ext like on my mini.
So anybody out here willing to give me hints to achive the above mentioned points?
As i am from germany the phone offers me an upte to 4.0.A.0.69! Is it possible to maintain the above achievments with this update?
Thx for any support!
hi and welcome to the sony world!!!
so first let me ask you a basic question is your phone branded sim locked??
Thx for welcome.
No the phone isn't branded / sim locked.
Its a stock sony phone which i bought from amazon here in germany.
Great then the easiest way to root it is a custom kernel rom.
So first you will need to unlock your bootloader; you can do it in two ways:
1.- the offical way here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ you will lose drm and be unable to use the official track id app from sony.
2.- the test point method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285 you will not lose drm and track id and be able to update your phone with seus no problem. in this video http://www.google.com.mx/url?sa=t&r...tMG1Bg&usg=AFQjCNFe_MgteNSvfQYkgBoh7rwpwSVoAQ it shows you what points to use and you can do it with a paper clip it seems hard to do but it is pretty easy.
Take into account unlocking your bootloader will void warranty and may cause damage to your phone bla bla bla. You know the same thing from always.
i think this is the first step if you do it and need more help let us know or if you don't want to let me know and i will point you to some good threads for modding your phone without unlocked bootloader.

That was only about unlocking bootloader, which is needed if you want to install custom kernel and/or ROM.
For rooting, I have written a tutorial to root, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792. First root your phone and then make Over the Air update(directly from phone via 3G or WiFi) to newest firmware(which is .69 in your case).
Root will stay if you do OTA update, PC Companion/SEUS will remove root.
Also CWM installation is included in my tutorial.
Installing custom kernel is not yet in tutorial, but I will explain here.
First unlock bootloader like written in previous post. Then download the kernel you want, you will need .img file. Next, if you don't have it yet, then download Android SDK, because you will need fastboot. Move the .img file to the same folder as fastboot(C:\...\android-sdk\platform-tools), start Command Prompt, enter the following command
Code:
cd C:\...\android-sdk\platform-tools
and then
Code:
fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
Replace C:\...\ part with the path to android-sdk directory and boot.img with the correct file name. Mostly it is boot.img, but can be different on some kernels.
thx, again a member willing to help my!
So happy.
I wont to do anything wrong. As you explained i first should root the phone and then install the latest firmware.
So i downloaded this file DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip.
This will do the following
[*] This script will:
(1) root ur device using latest zergRush exploit (21 Nov)
(2) install Busybox (1.18.4)
(3) install SU files (binary: 3.0.3 and apk: 3.0.6)
The text goes on with
[*] Before u begin:
(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
(6) skip "PC Companion Software" prompt on device
I am confused and blind
Where can i find the adb drivers?
just install pc companion and it will install the drivers for you once you connect your phone for the first time that's all.

Thats the software i get for example from sony page hxxp://www.sonymobile.com/de/tools/pc-companion/ .
Am i right?
If so, then i am ready to root my live with walkman. Finally
yep you are right
Yeah got it!
Superuser is in list for apps.
Now i will start the firmwareupdate ota.
New question again
Why can't i connect to my fritzbox via wlan without my simcard plugged in? I get an error out of reach. If i put my simcard in, i can connect to my router.
My old mini didnt bother if the simcard isn't plugged it.
It still connects to the router.
never heard of anything like it. maybe it's a bug of the firmware?

Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.69 installed, Superuser still there.
So what should i do next?

Hope that is the latest one.
yeah it is well there is a 5.5 version but i have only seen it in 1 custom kernel, by the way don't try to flash any custom rom with it or you will have trouble ok.
Enough for today.

But now with cwm installed i am able to backup my rom and restore it if i need, am i right?
On galaxy mini we werent able to back up the stock rom via cwm.

Hi Every1, in this tutorial am gonna show u all how to root firmware .62 on Xperia Mini ST15i.Update : Also other 2011 xperia
Stock Firmwares (Incl ICS) (not my collection, thank that guy )
Possible Result:
1) U may lose all the data on your phone. (I have backups of everything so i dint not bother to wipe. But it is a good practice to hav backups before messing with your phone) UPDATE : Phone data is not lost
2) Rooted xperia mini with .62 firmware.
Things you need:
1) Doomlord's rooting kit(thank him for that). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
2) Flashtool http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
3) .42 firmware ftf file http://www.4shared.com/file/ZdoKiVWJ/ST15i_402A042__1249-6227_.html?
4) For rooting ics follow the other method posted below in weak wifi link.
5) Some guts
Overview of the process:
1) Downgrading your phone to .42 firmware.
2) Utilizing zergrush exploit to root device.
3) Upgrading to .62 firmware with root.
Seems simple isnt?
I would like to make clear that i do not take responsibility if anything should happen on your phone. This idea is not exactly mine and I would like thank fellow xda members for this knowledge.
Please follow the methods as it is or you may end with a brick.
Devices tested : Xperia mini(basic concpet is same "downgrading and upgrading", if any one have tested on their xperia say xperia mini pro for example please let knw).
UPDATE : Xperia Active
The procedure:
Flashing 42 firmware:
1) Download the ftf file from the link above. That is the .42 firmware file.
2) Download and install flashtool and doomlord rooting kit.
3) Now friends please make a backup of your data(contacts, messages, etc)
4) Place the downloaded ftf file in %flashtooldirectory%/firmwares.
5) Now open Flashtool.exe
6) Drag the ftf file to flashtool window.
7) A pop up window with options for flashing will be shown.
8) Uncheck Wipe user data and wipe cache.
( I had an issue here, even though i uncheckd those i lost my data, but its good to give a shot here and if your phone retains data you are lucky)
9) Make sure none of the EXCLUDE or checked.
10) click ok, A pop up window will be telling you to connect your phone in flashmode.
11) Check Unknown sources and debugging in your phone, switch off it. Press the vol down button and connect the usb cable.
12) The flashing process will be done.
13) Now Turn on your device. ( If your phone stops at the sony ericsson logo dont freak out that you have bricked your phone. This is normal)
14) Now if you are able to get to your home screen pat yourself and tell good job!.
15) Check firmware version in settings.
Rooting the Phone:
1) Now check unknown sources and debugging in phone and connect it to pc.
2) The drivers must automatically install.
3) Now goto the directory where you extracted doomlord's rooting kit.
4) Open runme.bat and press any key
5) after few seconds your phone must restart.
6) goto app drawer and make sure superuser app is there.
7) to double check, download rootchecker from market and check.
Upgrading to firmware .62
1) first i did not use my phone much, i just installed superuser and right away updated.
2) this may be a factor since removing bloatware before updating could cause problems. But not sure.
3) To update go to update centre app in phone.
4) Check for update and update.
5) After restart you should have Xperia MINI with root access!
Do not update via pc companion, perform Over-the-air update. Else phone could be bricked.
UPDATE:
For Users having weak wifi there is another method.. follow the Link
You are welcome to any suggestions so that anyone who is not clear can understand.

14) Now if you are able to get to your home screen pat yourself and tell good job!. "
A nOOb question-
What if I m not able to get on homescreen.....if I wud stuck in dat logo wat shud u do ??
when u do a wipe, initialy when phone runs it it may take a long time to rebuild the wiped cache...
So if u r able to c the logo...then obviously phone is not bricked....relax and wait for it to do some house keeping...
Then you will able to get to home screen!

Good tutorial, but I have a question.
I have an Xperia Active ST17i and I successfully followed the first two instructions:
1) Downgrading your phone to .42 firmware.
2) Utilizing zergrush exploit to root device.
But on proceeding to the 3rd instruction, my phone always says "You have the latest software and applications from Sony Ericsson. Your phone is up to date."
I am using a wifi connection to check for updates (or do I need to update through HSDPA connections?)
Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks

well, i am nt sure whats stopping you from doing an over the air update.
but i have a reason to doubt the firmware file cause it weighs around 150 mb only.
i might suggest searching for another fw .42 file and trying the same(i am searching for one in the mean time)
however i shall try to find why OTA fails.
do these for me.
1) Check whether you have the superuser file pushed by doomlord tool
2) did you lose all your data after flashing?
3) check fw version in settings..
1. Yep superuser is there
2. Nope, contacts still there
3. Version 2.3.4 Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.42
Maybe it is a bad ftf file, but I can't find any other .42 ftf other than the one posted.
Can't use WOTAN though, says I ran out of credits.
I'll try to reflash to .62 once I download the ftf file.
this problem seems weird really.
Darn wifi, I am now updating OTA to 4.0.2.A.0.62. I'll post results soon..
EDIT: fails at 3rd process of OTA. Maybe a FW problem. Will scrap this one and flash .62. Thanks anyway.
Will try to check for solutions

Is there a way to root my officialy updated to ICS, Xperia Mini(ST15i) without unlocking bootloader?(in order to downgrade etc...) I just want to root my xperia mini without messing up with the warranty....Any way to root it with locked bootloader? (4.1.B.0.431)
Thanks in advance
You have to downgrade to Gingerbread, root it and then upgrade to ICS using THIS tutorial.
There could be a different way: you should flash the 4.0.3 kernel (for example the Arc one), but I can't find the tutorial. Use the search button and see if you can find it

downgrading needs unlocked bootloader... :/ i had bricked my mini some time ago because i tried to downgrade with locked... (( any other way?
Thanks
EDIT: flashing xperia arc's or Neo V's for example would brick my phone....wouldn't it? (and it also needs bootloader unlock...so i don't think i would do that... BUT thanks for your help mate
No, flashing a .ftf does NOT need an unlocked bootloader. You need to unlock it only if you want to flash a custom kernel, but for custom ROMs you can use flashtool.
Same for the 4.0.3 kernel. It's a stock kernel, so you can flash it via flashtool
It WILL end in bootloop, though. The tutorial says you can use DoomLord's root kit anyway, root the phone and then flash again the 4.0.4 kernel. But find it and read it carefully, cause I didn't try it and I can't assure you it will work.
I tried the first one I suggested, though, and my bootloader is locked!

man i have a problem...when i place my phone into flashmode (down key) it disconnects on its own...and that's why i bricked my phone long time ago....now i am afraid to do that i have installed the flashtool drivers from Flashtool/drivers.... but they mustn't work for my mini....any solution please give me the drivers you use for your Mini and work with it if you can i would really appreciate that!
What do you mean, it disconnects? How much time does it take for it to disconnect? Mine does the same. If I plug it and wait for a minute or so doing nothing, it disconnects. But if I start flashing a ROM it doesn't.
The drivers I installed are in \Flashtool\drivers.

It doesn't. At least, mine doesn't! And I flashed firmware twice a day in the last week
Anyway, both ways need the use of flashtool... so if you don't want to try it, you can't root ICS

Pfff i'm a bit scared.....there is no hope that there will be somewhen another way to root...?
No, I'm sorry. Anyway, just follow this steps:
1) DON'T plug your phone.
2) Open flashtool
3) Click the lightning icon and select flashmode
4) Select the .ftf you want to flash: if you want to downgrade, select wipe data. If you want to flash the 4.0.3 kernel, unckeck wipe data and check "exclude" for everything apart from kernel. Which means you'll only flash the kernel
5) Start: you'll be asked to plug your phone. Plug it now in flashmode. This way you'll avoid it being unplugged.
Flashing will start, and your phone won't be unplugged. I suppose it's unplugged automatically when you're not doing anything, it's the same for me, but I repeat, whenever I flash something (kernel, whole ROM, whatever) everything just goes fine

That's strange. Anyway, if you installed PC Companion you have adb drivers. Install flashmode drivers from Flashtool installazion folder, you find the executable in \Flashtool\drivers. If Windows prompts you that the drivers are dangerous, just install them anyway.
What I can say is that you DON'T need to unlock your bootloader to use flashmode in Flashtool. Otherwise, my phone would have exploded long ago
Now let me tell you this: if you are SURE you did everything the right way, and still your phone got bricked, then maybe you shouldn't try. you never know.
If you tried to to something you didn't know how to do, you probably made a mistake, and that's why the phone got bricked. In this case, I'd give it a try.
But we're not able to see your phone and test it, so whatever you do, unfortunately, you always do it on your own risk.
I couldn't be more sincere.

On all probability you are correct.
They (The service centre people) flashed a firmware using Flashtool. That's what they must have did. See. I will explain things a bit.
Your phone has some memory in it (this corresponds to what was known as phone memory in older phones). This memory is of Read Only type. That is ROM. Now, of all the types of ROMs, androids have EEPROM. That stands for Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM. So you can electronically erase the data stored in the ROM and write new data on it (even though it is called Read Only). This process of writing new data on the ROM is called flashing.
For flashing, the tool that is available to us as an open source, is Flashtool. Using it we can flash ROMs into our phones, erasing the earlier ones.
Now, Sony will not want us to flash Cyanogen Mod to our phones. So they have made up the concept of locking the bootloaders. With locked bootloaders custom ROMs can not be flashed to your phone. This is because most custom ROMs are designed for a specific Kernel (the intermediate between the OS and the hardware), and flashing a custom kernel requires unlocked bootloaders.
If you want, you can flash firmwares (ROMs + Kernels released by Sony) even if you are on locked bootloader, as long as the firmware files are signed by Sony.
This restriction however is against the OpenSource spirit of Android, and thus Sony gives us the scope to unlock bootloader at the cost of loosing the warranty, and the DRM keys (search google for that).
Now coming to your problem of unability to flash properly, make sure that you have installed all the drivers. For that open up /drivers folder in /flashtool and install the .exe there. Also install the adb drivers of your device. For that have PC Companion installed on your PC. Flashing will happen properly then.
Thanks,
Rick

You, and all developers/people here, are simply awesome!.... But this sh*t with unlocking bootloader and loosing warranty is so....stupid....I think i will give it a try and i am gonna sure thank you.... Somethink else....my phone has also a problem on the screen while scrolling....do you know if that is a hardware or a firmware problem?
What do i mean when i say scroll problem:
1st example: While browsing the Internet and scroll with fast moves, links are pressed on its own and new tabs are opened,as links are pressed.
2nd example: While i scroll the app drawer, fast s make apps open without my will....
3nd exapmle and the most representative: While playing fruit ninja and do fast moves to cut the fruits, the touchscreen doesn't even fell that i touch the screen!!! I do fast moves to cut the fruits and nothing happens!! As a result i always lose! (just joking....)
My phone is fast and really smooth only when my moves are slow....any thoughts about that? :/
Thanks once again for your BRAVE help!
You have a Mini, right? That's a hardware problem. Very common, even if not everyone realizes it. Check THIS thread for a (possible?) solution.
Tutorial. Bootloader unlocked. Install ClockWorkMod, Kernel and ROM
Before Flashing a Custom Kernel. You have to have your bootloader unlocked.
To Unlock Bootloader follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730874
"This tutorial is for people who just bought a cell phone and want to customize, but afraid to make any modification other than Workshops.
All I'll be teaching procedures have been tested by me (Xperia Live With Walkman Wt19a) remembering that this tutorial can also be applied to other devices on the same line, but the person is aware of everything you're doing.."
Ok So we go to our interest.
It is recommend to have the Pc and Compani SUS for any drivers.
I will describe in steps. "Before you do anything BATTERY MUST BE 100% LOAD"
1º. You need to have CWM "ClockworkMod" To do a FULL BACKUP which TER is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. If you can not install the CWM, progress is TOTALLY PUT IN YOUR OWN RISK. (OK JA ADVISED THIS).
2º.Download CWM-Install here is the link: http://www.4shared.com/rar/qZQbLbdc/CWM-Install.html?
3º. After completing the download extract to a folder.
4º.1. Run install-cwm '. Cmd
install-cmw1.cmd - Xperia Arc / Neo
install-cmw2.cmd - Xperia Mini / MiniPro / Active / Live With Walkman
2.Enable USB Debugging on device
3.Connect your device using usb data cable
4.Follow on screen instruction
5º. Once that's done you should have already installed the CWM ClockworkMod then we will open it when you boot the phone. (When the phone shine brighter or some flashing LED FINGER TIGHT TO KEEP THE VOLUME DOWN BUTTON AND HOLD briefly) This should open the recovery console CWM.
6º. Now with the volume knob go to Backup / Restore. Hold down the middle button to enter the option. (Choose Backup) just wait a bit and BACKUP YOUR READY NOW IS READY.
7º. Restart the phone.
8º. Now a lot of attention. We will install the kernel. First of all you need to have the drivers installed ADB; So here's the link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/2KEB9taN/Android_ADB_Interface.html
9º. Now plug the phone into fastboot MODE. is vol + and connect usb cable. Blue LED must be connected. Once that's done your computer will start looking for drivers and will not find ... Then Extract the ADB drivers into a Folder and indicate to the drivers downloaded. This should work. If you are having trouble installing the drivers ADB. I recommend you download a program called Driver Identifier. To locate the driver.
10º. Now with the drivers already instaldos We Correctly Download the program called Flash Tools.
11º. Open the program Flash Tools. After clicking on the radius and choose MODE Fastboot. Not FlashBoot NOT CONFUSE. Leave the phone connected in mass storage mode. Now in clice Reboot into fastboot mode (via Fastboot) Note If you want to connect in Manual mode Fastboot can be connected normally.
12º. Now comes the most decisive moment of all :victory: ... You sure which kernel will apply. For if you apply some kernel Wrong at Risk of Damaging the Machine there only using an Advanced Backup has been done to resurrect.
13º. In my case my Mobile Live With WT19 is a Walkman So I will choose the Kernel Kamarush to show in this tutorial. Link to Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709032
TIP. BEFORE YOU HAVE A ROM A CHOICE IN MEMORY CARD. IN MY CASE TO U.S. USING THE LINK REAL ICS V5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707876:laugh:
14º. In the Flash Tools Click Select Kernel to Flash. Go up the file you Kernel for Low LWW Live With Walkman. Once you have the absolute certainty that the Kernel is right ok just take two clicks and it already in the kernel will install automatic a process is really fast.
15º. Now when the phone started so get in CWM.
16º. Now you need to do a reset FULL. First MAKE TO DO a FACTORY RESET AFTER A WIPE CACHE PARTITION. GO TO ADVANCED TO CHOOSE AND WIPE Dalvik CACHE.
17º. Then come back and go to install zip from sdcard. Choose choose zip from sdcard.
18º. Now go to the folder that has the ROM. done so just follow the installation procedures is an aroma "Do not clear it does not change anything already WT19 is defined as the first. Do not change anything in the options wipe.
19º. Done it now when you return to the CWM modules you need to install the WIFI to work. Link http://www.4shared.com/zip/c3qIfOdP/new_wifi_modules.html?
Installing is the same as the ROM.
20 °. Once that's done just restart your phone and you're ready. Easy Bad is not the only the beginning you have to install the drivers and ADB CWM for even those who do not have.
THIS IS OPTIONAL.

I have not tested the method of test point, but it seems safe. If the person does not want to risk connecting something wrong. You can try to follow in the footsteps of Sony http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ according to your model. In my point of view I prefer methadone plus Sony's command in Ms Dos. Regarding the problem of manufacturing data can rest assured that no problems have at least the Sony because methadone is a specific code. Now as to the test point can not guarantee. In my view these quiet line Xperia handsets are very strong. These devices are actually very good.

Yes, you can't root your device on ICS directly, you have to downgrade if you don't want to unlock your bootloader. Everything is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514

No need to unlock the bootloader to install CWM. However you will not get to modify your kernel. Cause to modify kernel you must have unlocked Bootloader. Installs CWM puts your phone in Debug mode and apply the. Bat according to your device model http://www.4shared.com/rar/qZQbLbdc/CWM-Install.html?
The next step you will have CWM.
Now you want to unlock your bootloader? you must use the means of unlocking the Sony the best way http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
After unlocking your bootloader. Then everything gets easier. Despois to unlock your bootloader. When you apply the Kernel it will come with CWM already built there then just do a full wipe and then apply the ROM to taste.
