I dropped my phone and it knocked the top left side corner of the casing. Now there is a slight displacement of the screen and about a quarter of the screen is total useless, i am unable to pull down the status bar. It there a way to fix this without going to the motorola service centre?
You could always replace the screen yourself
go through att and get a replacement, that is if you have insurance

Where did u go? I went to the motorola service centre but they wont entertain me.
It seems like there is a slight gap between the glass n the screen. if i were to press it on the top left it will respond.
Why won't they entertain you?

Ah. Than fix it yourself i guess...
not sure if its only the digitizer that is faulty or the screen too...
On a daily basis my phone will randomly tell me that there is no Sim card(btw I'm att of that makes any difrence) in the phone. The only way to fix the problem is to reboot the phone. Any ideas what's causing this? I tried flashing a different rom but to no avail. What should I do?

Just to commiserate, this happened to me today too - second time total. Gonna keep digging through the forums...

glad im not the only one.. i posted about this few weeks ago.. i tried going to att store and they wouldnt give me a new phone since it was the 16th day ( 14 day return policy).I thought it was still 30. I went thru warranty and they are sending me a new phone. just waiting for that to arrive.. still happens every once in awhile. annoying.
Happens to me too. Don't have to reboot though. Turning Airplane mode on and off does the trick. Every day or so I take it out and put it back in. Not sure if it helps but it makes me feel like it prolongs the issue.

Here's a summary of what I've learned, y'all correct me if I'm mistaken:
ATT sims only
Airplane mode and back - works as temporary fix
SOME report reseating the sim is a permenant fix
SOME report getting a new sim doesn't fix
Since this is happening to me daily now (maybe more I'm not noticing), I'm going to see what I can come up with. I just opened the tray and slid it back in with two pieces of paper backing the sim card (on the non-contact side of course), to see if by chance there is a problem with the physical connection of the sim, and if this can fix it. I'll keep you updated. I'm also going to see if I can get a new sim card from ATT.
Has anyone come up with any other solutions - or are we all dealing with this intermittently and just tolerating it?
===== UPDATE 12/14/2012 =====
5 Days now with perfect connection. Two sheets of paper thicker sim card works.
There is a few threads all about the same thing. I'm posting in this one because it's the highest on the list. I never had the issue before rooting. So I wonder of anyone can confirm this being an issue pre-root/pre-bootloader unlock? Just a thought

Same issue over here. Daily missing SIM card issue.
I have been having this daily with my AT&T One X+ as well. I'm stock, unrooted. I went back to aT&T today and they told me it was the SIM Card. We replaced that and it seems to be working. Now I know it hasn't been long enough to know if this is the fix or not, so we shall see.
For those who added the paper to the SIM tray, did your SIM card feel at all loose before you added the paper ? Mine doesn't feel loose at all.
Michael
Well I had this exact problem happen to me a couple times. Not enough to make it annoying. All I ever had to do was restart my phone and voila

My SIM card was loose in the SIM tray you can see just a small slack which is enough to mess with the connection

This has been happening to me 3/4 times a day, the other day i couldnt even read a full article online before it would pop up with a messege saying 'sim card removed restart phone (only option too)' i know its not the best option but i tapped a bit of wd40 on the sim and it works for days before happening again, not a permenant solution but has definitly kept me from tearing my hair out! Hope it helps
Hello, im new here but I have seen over the years that this is the place to come to fix cell phone issues and the such. My issue is this, I have just received an ATT HTC ONE, I bought it off Ebay. The phone itself phisically is in mint condition, but the problem is whenever I put a sim card in it, it just wont read it. Im overseas, I have already bought the unlock code for the phone but I get no chance to enter it because the phone wont detect a sim no matter what I do. I have tries puting several different sim cards and no go, I even had a spare ATT sim card and no go. I have just tried the "tape fix" but the phone wont recognize my sim. Is there anything else that I can try or do? I have flashed phone software in the past (droid dna) so if thats what would take to fix this I would do it. Im overseas and returning this to ebay for a refund would not be an option for me. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
I had the same issue and it solved after they replaced the sim tray, but I bought the phone from ATT so I was under warranty.
You might try to get it repaired there, but they might charge you. Or try buying a replacement sim tray off ebay or amazon (I don't know if they sell it or not)

Sim cards can go bad as well. I would go to an AT&T store and they will replace your sim card for free.
Thanks, I did try several sim cards that I had lying around and none of them worked. I have just gotten of the phone with HTC tech support and they are sending me a replacemente sim tray, hope that fixes the problem. Will have to wait 4 looooong weeks without a phone tough...
It happened to me last night. I restarted my phone and it worked normally. Haven't happened since.

You can buy a new simtray for $2.30
They sell lots of other parts for the HTC One as well.

You might want to flash the stock RUU, might have a bad radio flash or something odd.

Oh..ok.. well I dont think new sim tray would be the solution.
I have two HTC One. And I tried putting the sim tray of working HTC ONE into this one and nothing happened.. same issue.
I have couple queries though : Was ur phone's software modified in any way when u recieved it ? I mean was the phone unlocked, rooted etc ?
If yes, did u tried flashing a RUU on it and see if it solves the issue
So I finally found the solution to my problem.. apparently its something related to sim not aligning properly in the socket.
Tape-fix didnt worked for me too and nor did the RUU. Then I tried something different.. I had my iphone 5's nano sim and put it in a plastic nano-to-micro sim adapter and put that in.. it snug in very tight and hurray, the sim got detected. Got the unlock code and its working now !!!!
With this experiment I think I also found out whats ur issue might be too. We often cut the sim using the sim-cutters which are often not perfectly sized but works with most phones. I suggest either try using my method if u can or get a retail micro-sim from a service provider and try that.. it should work.

Agreed, but it does happen. The last batch of T-Mobile Nexus 4's my company purchased, 2 out of 16 had an issue where the SIM's weren't being read due to pin misalignment issues inside the slot. We were able to replace them.

One more thing - how did u managed to get service from HTC ? Did u paid or its covered under warranty ? As I already mentioned I am in exact same condition as u are and would like to have HTC take a look at this too
Waiting for your reply mate.. Pl do asap.
Hi all,
This is my first post here on xda, so spare on me.. plz not really sure if this is the correct place to post this but i've searched this forums and i haven't found the help i need.
So, straight to point. i bought this phone and in the first two weeks all seemed to work fine.
Lately i've experienced lots of network signal loss. I've rooted the phone and used "Mobileuncle MTK Tools" to change the preferred network bands as according to this youtube video v=aQY7SdNrbmA (sorry, can't post direct links).
Well, after that nothing happened so i'm really upset with this china made smartphone.
Has anyone experienced this kind of problems using this phone/chip ?
Any advices before sending this to repair (other country) would be very appreciated..
Thanks in advance,
Hugo Pataco

iCrap Samsung HTC and other brand phones are mostly produced in China. If you have 300-400-500 $ to spare to pay the bill for the advertisement go on no one will stop you. And the fact that the phone is expensive doesn't mean that you wont find issues.
hugopataco man it is just that you have pulled the short straw.

Define service if you please. If you refer to she software updates i woud like to say that DOOGEE (as a brand i am using) have posted and released their certificates and firmware ( http://www.doogee.cc/en/gb/xiazai.asp ). Also the company has released into that new update fixing major problems like slow camera button and slightly unresponsive touch screen (i actualy have no problems with these). Ou and of course they have managed to establish connection with the buyer which is great because their next products will be what the users want.

But I am going on holiday tomorrow, be back on 13 June.. you can order a galaxy s4 coax antenna cable for replacement, maybe you can patch old one up, but for $4 you have a new one.

Hi,
Have you bought the phone in EU? If so, you have a two year warranty.. send it back.
If not, well i think you're screw'ed
Like D3lta said before, i think the problem lies on the antena cable. If you're experienced you can always replace it. If not, just get a hammer and smash it it's the destiny that craps deserves.

Sim recovered! it seems like the screwdriver that came with the omate is total junk, since it almost destroyed the head of the screws... had to go to a watchmaker to help out taking those screws out.
So, you had to take the back off to get the sim out ?
I hope you replaced the screws with the spares, as they are a little better quality.

Yup, i had to remove the back plate and the underline back plate (disconnect camera, battery...etc) just to get to the sim tray and push out with a small screw drive the sim out...
I'll replace the screws later, had to save the sim first
The screwdriver is a piece of crap. Destroyed itself on the sim screws. I had to use a different one.
The sim installation is not clear, I agree. It is on a push button spring - click it in with a screw driver and it will release, then use tweezers to pull it out
