[APP] WakOnVol. Wake phone by pressing volume key - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

its a very very simply app.
No root required.
Just install the app and it will start working.
Does what it says and simple and stable.
Used to wake phone by pressing volume. A feature i missed from cyanogen mod :good:
WakOnVol.apk

I've pressed thanks but it actually won't work , for some reason , nothing happens when I press volume

Pretty cool, but it doesn't do anything man

You can find the app thread here.

[Q] screen asleep during call

been having a problem with the 2.2 roms. I install them and the screen will go to sleep during a call, and the only way to wake it up is to either hang up the call or plug in the charging cord. The phone will wake normal when i flash back to a 2.1 rom. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix on froyo roms.
Enable trackball to wakeup under cyanogen settings or something like that.
press send + vol up (or vol down, believe it's vol up) to wake up phone. mods please move to q&a thread. thanks and hope this helps.

You almost had it.
Press and hold vol+, then while holding that, press and release the send button. That will wake the screen without disturbing the call.

sorry 5thagent. remembered seeing the instructions somewhere around. thanks for the correction! :-( i tried. I had forgotten about the other fix.
was just about to post on this today. thx for the infoz
Also... all you should have to do is pull the phone away from your face and it should turn back on almost immediately. I've never ever had this problem lol

I agree that should normally work, but at least for me when using speaker phone I can't just move the phone to wake it. using trackball wake/unlock works fine though

What is that and what does it do?
How hard is it to program the ROM so that the screen turns back on when you touch it?

That works but if you have your phone on the table in front of you w/speakerphone enabled while some robot is giving you 5 minutes of number equations, the phone will timeout. When the trackball wake option is selected in CyanogenMod settings/input settings, it will wake the device after you've manually turned the phone off but it doesn't wake the screen after it's timed out. I have been trying to use tasker as a way around this problem but I haven't been able to successfully write a working profile

I'm bumping this thread because I have the same problem but my volume rocker is broken/missing so it is very difficult for me to press vol up/down. I need to use a pen tip or needle, which I usually do not have readily available.
Is there any other option out there for me? Why can't I use the trackball or just the Send key????????????
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
FYI, I'm running GSB 1.4 (CM-7 Gingerbread based ROM).
edit: Some users on the CM forums said that pressing the Menu or Home keys worked, but that doesn't work for me. They were on CM6, so maybe that doesn't work in CM7, I don't know.

I seem to recall that in CM settings, you can configure what buttons can wake the phone up. You should be able to set it to the trackball.

[REQ] Volume Rocker Disable

Wondering if anyone can disable the volume rocker?
With a flash update?
Or an app that can enable/disable the rocker for the evo shift?
I don't think anyone has come up with this yet. At first it was an issue for me, but as I've gotten used to the way the device is laid out I haven't hit it anymore.

Its somewhere in this forum. There is an app that locks it down. Might've been mentioned in the Issues thread? Seems like it was a guy ranting about how he hated everything about the Shift.

Found it. Two apps are suggested. Volume Locker and Button Remapper. Check it out and let us know!

i wonder if anyone has tried button remapper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
there's buttonremapper
worked well
wish I could disable the rocker comlpetely, but there's no option
so i made my vol up into camera button (since we don't have one) and vol down as media next track (lol).
as camera button, it works pretty well, hold it for a second, it'll load up the camera app, press it and it'll take shots.

[Q] Hook into power button

If I write an app, is it possible to to override the default functionality of the hardware power button?
I only found this on google, but it didn't work:
stackoverflow.com/questions/3703071/how-to-hook-into-the-power-button-in-android
Thank you!
I would be interested in an app to do this, as well as bringing up the power menu as holding the power button usually does.
The power button on my Desire has issues letting go... the phone seems to think that the button is always pressed, effectively making me unable to "press" the button when I want. Pretty certain it is mechanical failure, since if I take the battery out and then put back in, the phone turns on without my doing anything else. So, I cannot shutdown via the power menu... tried apps which use SU to power off/reboot, but they are causing problems with Data2Ext and A2SD+ filesystems. I also cannot do anything from hboot or fastboot... must enter recovery through a root app.. which is not always helpful.
Been looking for several months

I would really like for this too.
I am trying to do an in-dash install of a 7inch tablet and it is unable to sense when the power is removed. I have also tried running Tasker but it says 'Application not installed'.
So I would like to send a pulse to the power button and trigger a shutdown app. Otherwise I will just be cutting power which is sure to corrupt things
It's Needed!!!

[Q] volume Button

hi guys,
i love the samsung galaxy s2 phone, but i have a question.
Whilst using the phone, i end up accidently pressing the volume button and this can sometimes mean i put the "Notification" or "Ringer" volume really down.
I only want to be able to control such options by actually going into the Settings menu, so is there a way to disable this button or somehow change it's functionality?
BUMP!
Surely someone must have the answer?

I guess so nyssa, but many also still have their mobiles, watching this forum and are still replying to many questions on this forum.
Hey there. Have you even tried searching in the market? The very first app for "volume" query can do just that
Sent from outer space by aliens on tapatalk using SGS2
thanks aj rockwell. That app i believe only helps you adjust settings with volume. I actually want to Remap buttons, so that the volume button cannot adjust sounds other than "IN-CALL volume"
this is so annoying, I was going to open a thread with the some issue. Is any chanse, mod which can switch a default option when we press volume from ringer volume to media volume. many times by incident I turn ringer volume down and I dont hear a ringer.
@ x7 - Halleluyah! At last i find someone who has exactly the issue as myself.
Guys, all i want is some app that can disable the volume button from controlling the MEDIA's/NOTIFICATION's volume. The only way i want to control these is by actually going to SETTINGS>SOUND ...surely there must be an app that can REMAP the Volume key functions?
I agree, why Samsung did this think That you can change volume ringer by pressing a volumes button? This is so silly
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S 2 (80GB)
the only thing we can do x7 is hope that someone on here will know a fix for this volume issue.
I took a look in android market but I havent found anythink
I checked too, but could not find anything. The only one i have seen whilst searching on google, is Button Remapper. But there is no information to say that this app is safe for the SGS2.
Anyone? Help!
x7nofate mate, pls ignore the replies. I feel like such a twat now . It looks like AJ.Rockwell was right...i never properly tried the recommended app and was too quick to ignore it's features.
Download "Volume Control +" from android market and install it.
Once installed, set the volume for all the media/ring/notifications. Then simply goto the options where it allows you to lock each individual type of tone. So for example if you don't want to decrease your ringtone volume by accident, then select that.
Save your settings and you should have a little lock icon in your status bar.
Now when you put your volume for your ringtone down, it looks like its gone down again, right???? WRONG! Since Volume Control+ has locked it down, VC+ automatically forces it back to the "locked" settings. Genius!
Let me know how you get on mate!
PS: If you need any help or just wanna chat android, then PM me ur email and i'll add you to msn/yahoo/skype or whatever you use.
I installed a "Volume Control +" ages ago and I locked in settings but I can put my volume ringtone down anyway so I thought that it doesn't work but I was wrong. It works, thank you very much
Bump! I searched XDA on Google for this exact thread, my problem too. My question is, with that apps reccommendation (thanks for that), does it still bring up the volume OSD? That's my major annoyance, and something that happens to people whenever I pass my phone over to them.

SOLVED: Bluetooth Selfie shutter button problem

Hi everyone.
In my last two phones, using a "selfie shutter" (A remote button as seen in the link) worked fine for triggering my phone to take a snapshot with the camera app.
I did have to move the camera Icon on my old phone so the remote bluetooth button triggered itm, but after that it worked fine.
However with my LG V30, all this remote button does, is trigger the volume button and rise the volume with repeated pressings. it will not open the camera app.
Any ideas on this? I heard that I could "re-ma" the volume button or something but I've never done it before.
Thanks!
See the selfie shutter button in question below
http://www.hapurs.com/productdetails-70-70.html.
Figured it out!
The item on the TOP LEFT of my android device desktop is always the first triggered.
I simple moved my camera icon there, gave the bluetooth device "Unlock" permissions, and now I am all good. Thanks

No way to delete posts on XDA, but you can always edit them -- which is nice. One forum I was in had a 24 hour time limit to edit posts, so stupid stuff stayed forever.
