I bought a USB OTG cable for my Streak 5. Is there a USB Flash Reader App that will allow me to transfer files to and from a USB Flash Stick that does not require that I have a rooted device?
Any 'root explorer' app can help you browse or edit-
\mnt\usbhost OR try all folders inside \mnt folder one by one after plugging in your flash disk

I installed X-plore file manager. Under /(root) is a /mnt folder that has a "/asec", "/sdcard" and "/secure" folders. I cannot find any "usbhost" folder.

Sorry for incomplete instructions ... first thing I should have mentioned is that you have to be on a custom ROM with gb and USB host function enabled! Phoenix kernel variants have this facility for DSC, CM7 or MIUI ROMs..

Need more info... Did you get the .zip files?
Did you put them on your SD card?
Did you unzip them first?
I have the 3 files in zip and unzipped on the root of my SD but I haven't even got to that part yet I can't get the cf3d driver to install it says can't write to /system

It's been a while since I used an sd install, but I remember having to remount the sd as writable for some stuff. There are some apps to do this, including Remount RW (i think it's called) and File Explorer/Root Explorer.
Have u seen any tutorial on it or is it pretty easy to do I have file explorer and can get root explorer/ or remount

You should have 3 zip files, if you unzipped those, it won't work.
Are you running Android off the SD card?
In that case, transfer the files over usb. If you are running android off the uSD, android labels one partition of your uSD as "sd card" and CF3D may only be looking in that partition. Transferring the files over usb will put them in the appropriate partition.
OK I got root explore and was able to install the cf3d driver so I will erase the three already unzipped and use the zipped ones thanks for ur help

I have the same problem with my Incredible S. I cannot install drivers (NOT plugins). After the installation Chainfire asks to install drivers. I tried both CWM 3+ and simple options - but it doesn't work. The smartphone's stuck and after manual reboot Chainfire asks to install drivers again.
Could you please explain how you managed to install drivers with root explorer?
Open root explorer then click on /system then mount r/w after that try to install the driver again

For some that are having issues with write permissions for chainfire. Try updating Busybox and see if that helps. It worked for me when I was having the same issues from

Download the android sdk (Google is your friend here) and when you install it, navigate to the folder and inside there should be a Tools folder, adb should be in there.

There should be a folder called tools or platform tools, can't remember which (not at my computer right now). It should have adb inside. It is a command line function as far as I know, but it can be used to install apks while the phone/tablet is connected to the pc.

Yes and it have a great ui, with drag and drop. I really like it. Hope the OP have solved the question. And if you want remote adb try a app named adb wifi or a ssh server.

How can we delete contents of a folder from update-script?
I want to delete contents of /system/usr/semc VIA UPDATE-SCRIPT ONLY!
Should i use "format /system/usr/semc" ??
Nope you can only format block devices and mount points.
Use the delete_ files option,
Look at this as an example

Don't panic..there are a couple of ways to fix it. When I have done similar things the easiest I have found is to download a rom to my computer, remove the SD card from my phone, and connect SD card to my computer using SD/USB adapter. You can then move rom to your SD card using Windows explorer. Put the card back in your phone, reboot to bootloader (power + down volume), select recovery, and flash the rom.
There are also ways to do this using adb commands but I can never remember the commands well enough to tell you off the top of my head. Hope this helps.

yaaa i was thinkin i could that but i dont have an adapter.imma try it with my friends phone. good looks bro
I think to do it using adb. Put the rom zip you want to transfer in the platform-tools folder where your Android sdk is located. Then open a command prompt and type adb push "rom zip name here without quotes" /sdcard. I don't push files often that way but I think that is how. If you can still access recovery you should be able to connect your usb to the pc and see your sd card that way.
