I'm sorry if this has been asked before. i could not find a definitive answer.
I'm creating a custom ROM for a Nexus 7. I'd like to preset my Wifi Settings before flashing the device. I'm compiling AOSP from source and I already manage to include most of my settings (i.e. wallpaper, boot image, etc) in my custom ROM, but I can't seem to find a file or sqllite DB to configure the WiFi.
Thanks for your help.
Hey... Sorry i don't know answer to your question...
But i have a question...
How you preconfig'd settungs in your rom...
Did you just replaced default wallpaper of your choice or you really preconfig'd it like app on launcher homescreen on first boot...
Can you share...

Hello!
I was wondering if you can share or point me in the right direction... I am making a custom ROM and I want to pre-configure some settings...Like choose a wallpaper, and add some widgets on my home screen or app shortcuts, set ringtone and volume and other stuff. After I flash the ROM to have all the setting that I want.
I understand that you managed to get some of these things done.
Thanks
+1
I would also like to Learn how to set defaults in your own custom built ROM! I thought it had something to do with the boolean values in the framework.apk , systemui.apk and the respective app's Boolean values but, it didn't quite workout for me. Am I wrong or is that how its done and am I missing something?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't even know how to describe (in the title) wat I'm asking but:
I have custom LP 'Dock' and 'Icon' images on my SDcard (thnx 'bad4u6669') that I'd like to use to replace the stock LPplus images.
So if possible, how can I accomplish this? Can I just move them to 'LP' itself (thus replacing current options/files) or add them? And how do I locate/navigate to those files?
Would I use "Root Explorer" or "ADB"? (currently am try'n to learn "adb." I tried installing "setCPU" from "Android-sdk-windows/platform-tools" and "SDK" said it: "can't find 'setcpu.apk' to install" it.)

You can change that in the settings for LP. .apk is the file extension for programs for our phone, not LP.
No. I want to change/CUSTOMIZE options inside LP.
i.e.:replace stock dock n icon options w/ custom dock n icon options.
Like u'd see in a custom ROM, so that when I go into pref.s n appearance in LP to select a dock (say...froyo wide) instead of seeing the stock I'll see my custom dock.

I'm soooo sick of pressing a million buttons just to test different icons n such.
Note: I'd rather add options than replace them. Also I realize the the solution's Polly too difficult for me to accomplish as hastily as I would please.

Get a free app called Desktop Visualizer. That allows you to use your images for docks and icons.

Just to clarify, I do know how to set custom icons n docks in LP. I want to add and/or change the default icons n dock options inside of LP itself.

Do you mean change the icons and shortcuts they link to? If so that is the app for it.

I don't know. Will it let me create a custom dock and set it as the default option for say..."froyo wide" as opposed to the stock "froyo wide"?
I want to alter (as the developers do) the .apk file itself-I'm pretty sure an app won't do that. Tho I don't know.I haven't checked it out yet.
Besides "bad4u6669" already emailed me the answer. Thnx tho. I'll look into soon
No that does the same thing as the 'custom' option in LauncherPro. Like I said, I already know how to set them. It's just a hassle to change bak n forth.
Anyway I guess I'm not explaining well enough but I got the answer n I feel like I'm go'n in circles. Thnx tho

If I was to change the icon of an app manually, would the app icon change back upon update of said app or do only the files that are newer get changed in the app? Hence technically the app icon, once changed will remain that way permanently?
Also, is there an easier way than using an apk editing tool to edit the app icons?

So basically you ressurected a dead thread because you don't pay attention to all these flashable mod zips or ask the devs behind the mods. Ppl edit the apks, repack the apks, and flash it to their device via cwm, and see the change that they made.
Download from source and edit prior to packing the apk?

Dear all
Is there a way to change stock app icon? I would like to change the icons for Phone, Contact, Messaging and etc
I've been browsing xda looking for it but cant found anything related to this.
If its already stated somewhere, can you guys post the link ?
I'm currently using CheckROM V4 with speedmod's kernel.
Thanks
You can change icons decompiling, changing and recompiling the app itself, but I don't know if theres an easy way for this.
Search for apk manager, it's the easiest way I have found to decompile and recompile apks.

Does anybody know how to edit the Setting for my phone to have a black background and whit text, im getting tired of this ugly white background
Can you be more specific? I see in your thread title you say settings.apk. Are you saying you want a black background and white text just in the settings? What ROM, if any, are you using? If you are using a custom ROM like CM7, I believe its made that way by default. Its been a while since I have used it. I think even Eclipse is black but I'm not 100% sure. So I am guessing you must be on stock Gingerbread. Which means the only way to really do it is to install a custom ROM.

yeah im just on the stock rom, and i want to change the settings in the actual settings app to have a black background and white text. Any ideas on how to do this?? any help is appreciated
Truth be told, trying to decompile and then edit an apk file is more painful than pulling teeth. Like js said above, you'll want to flash a custom ROM to gain real customization. There's plenty here that are awesome.

alrighty, thanks for the help... but one more question, which .png file is the actual status bar in the framework-res.apk file?
Well you could either open every png file until you find the one you're looking for. But the only way to know for certain (our so I believe) would be to have access to the actual xml file within the apk that references that png resource.
The only downside is that if the apk was obfuscated when it was compiled (and most are) you probably won't have access to that xml.
This comes from my dabbling in android app development. However, some greater, smarter person than myself may have a different answer.

Settings>lock screen>wallpaper (I think)
Already looked there no option to change it

Open any image file and hard press / keep press that image for 5 secs, you'll get options to set as Wall paper, in that select Lock Screen Wall paper.
Regards,
Hereticnine.
That doesn't work either, I have no option to select it as my lockscreen wallpaper only the main wallpaper

The long press only works on samsung roms
Does anyone know how. Surely someone else is running cyanogenmod and know how

Did you figure this one out already? I found it in Settings > Lock screen > Background - select "Custom image" and make sure you can browse to one using Gallery or File Manager

Same for me and for a more recent rom.
Is that for cm10 or cm10.1
I know that I'm late to the party, but I have some zedge wallpapers that I wanted to use as my lockscreen only. After much playing around, the only way I could get it to work on my lockscreen only, as to move the image to my gallery, and set it via there. It wouldn't take from my zedge wallpaper folder.
