If you are using .54 fw then flash the .10 fw via flashtool then use bin4ry tool to get root access. And then flash. 54 fw.

I experienced the same problem. My Xperia Sola can not be rooted event using binh4ry method. My Sola is using 4.0.4 android version, and has build number 6.1.1.B.1.54.
Hi SahilTech, the .54 fw that you said before,is the last 2 digits of build number?.. if it yes, where can I get the .10 fw?..

You can find all the firmwares and roms available for Sola HERE.
But to root you need not flash back to .10 firmware, you can just acquire root access by flashing .10 kernel->root using binary's methd->then again flash .54 kernel.
You can find both the kernel files HERE.
Hope this helps.

I'd wait for a new Kernal based on the new firmware. Also if you unselect "wipe user data" you should keep your data. I did but I lost the root from my phone.
Just make sure you backup first

(Q) X10 Unlocking Bootloader (one click button)

Hi. I just wanted to ask a few questions. Is there an easy way to unlock BL? Like one click button to unlock? Or another way besides using the flashtool? I'm using rooted x10i 2.3.3. I rooted my x10i using DooMLoRD’s Easy Rooting Toolkit. Do unlock BL also have that kind of toolkit? Your respond is much appreciated

It will only appear if your phone is on stock rom/kernel of 2.1 or 2.3.3. So first go to official stock rom and it will apear.
so i have first to unlock bl and then to root and install xrecovery?

remember unlocking bootloader is only optional. Stock based custom roms and kernels work with locked bootloader.
If you want to unlock bootloader, you will find a good guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Also no need to install xrecovery if you unlock bootloader. Just flash any custom kernel for unlocked bootloader
thanks again and sorry that im talkin weird, the thing is i already have a (great) stock based rom. But it is gingerbread and in future i need a ics and i CANT get one with locked bootloader
also i know that i dont need xrecovery, just wrote to ensure

[ICS][ST25i]Upgrading to the latest firmware 6.1.1.b.1.10 from Sony [How To]

Hi all,
I have found a way to allow the PC companion look up for the Android 4.0.4 upgrade .
1. Downgrade your firmware to ST25_6.0.B.1.564 . File available from this link.
2. Flash the file using flash tool. Then reboot the phone.
3. Allow the phone to settle down
4. connect the phone to PC companion. It will show you an upgrade is available.
5. Continue with your upgrade

If it provides a bloatware free rom, it's not that useless as one might think
bloatware free? It only depends on si number that u have when updating and all Sony`s ICS builds have apps that many people don`t actualy need.. So this is useless thread...
you are actually correct, as I installed ICS this way and it has lots of crapps... :\
Agree with Pipi. Anyway there is still possibility to upgrade ICS directly via SUS
Although it comes with bloatware, it is not needed root to uninstall these apps, you'll get a clean rom easy.
Yes yes, in apps you can see appr. 5 apps whose can be uninstalled manually. Everything else is integrated into ICS : Facebook-related apps and Google-related apps. And few others. But for uninstalling these integrated FB and Google apps you need root. I uninstalled almost everything :cyclops:

I think no need to unlock bootloader if u want to root .587 because i had done it previously. But afaik, if u want to flash custom kernels, yes u need to unlock your bootloader and it will void your warranty -or at least until u relock it-
in a simple way;
1. u need to install flashtool to flash rootable kernel which is,
2. download rootable kernel 4.1.A.0.562 for xperia Arc (it's ok, u will find ur device in black screen after u flash it but u can root it)
3. root ur device while u are in 4.1.A.0.562 (even when ur device on black screen)
4. flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel after that, then u will hav ICS .587 rooted..
btw, i'm using smultron, but i think we're 2011 xperian family, right? it should be the same procedures to do..
Good luck bro! :highfive:
ah, sorry i can't post link since i'm a newbie, but u can googling with keyword "root 4.1.B.0.587" and click that guide from talk.sonymobile
