Hi.
You can try this depends of what version you have on your phone:
Sony Xperia Go ICS 6.1.1.B.1.10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912865
or
Sony Xperia GO GB 6.0.B.3.184

Hello
I successfully rooted my Xperia P with locked bootloader while upgrading to ICS...
I will be very grateful if someone know how can we install CWM on our devices with locked bootloader?
I tried X-parts and RecoverX but without success

This still doesn't help on ppl who can't unlock it. Don't get me wrong, I just don't want to unlock it. I'm waiting for a solution like the X10 had (with "bypassing" a kernel and so. I still have a .apk file from Z which gives a recovery0.2 but that's not CWM ofc)
Does you tray CWM installer from Xperia S developement forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756346
I didn't try it because I'm not sure is it compatible with Xperia P devices...
I post a question in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841613 thread where I asked for CWM files. We can them easily past in wright directories as we have root rights now

Strange, I try to root my phone and stuck after step2.bat - phone not boot (stuck on fluid xperia screen)!

you can do a full wipe :
call *#*#7378423#*#*
Customisation Setting → reset customisation
or
fastboot.exe -w
or
use pc companion to repair device (this will also lead to full reset of the device)

You can do a full wipe by manual. There is an option to do that on Setting.

Posting the error usually helps so we know what it's doing.

Anyone got root yet? I tried the usual method via root on locked bootloader and no use. I seen that there is another method for other Xperia phones, I think it was the S or T but that did not work.

you can root your xperia tipo either with bin4ry or unlock root ,once rooted download root checker from play store and check it and if successful ,manually search for the superuser app of your device in play store and update it.
bin4ry root use v15 instead of v31 to work well
I rooted sucefully my xperia tipo (old firmware), but a problem was persistent: superuser doesn't remember root options "deny/accept" and request it each time
I used it some months until I now sure why I losted superuser root (denied for all programs)
then I re-rooted with bin4ry v15 and it works very well, now superuser keep "deny" and "accept" options and can use setcpu / batterysaver / etc etc that request each time root
I suppose that it can happen to another people,. then I posted it to advice if that happen.
regards.

Updates are region and/or provider dependant.
You can take your chances and flash generic world formware.

I want to do it so i can root my phone, but since I've never done this, I'm a bit insecure and hesitant.
From the research I've done rooting my Xperia P is preferred to be done with the latest firmware which I don't have.
What would you suggest I do? I am completely new to this.
Thanks

Like before you do anything with your phone, take a full backup with PC Companion, and backup other data it doesn't manually.
Then you will need to download and install flashtool, install the drivers for Xperia P, flash mode, and fastboot mode with the drivers installer from drivers directory under flashtool directory.
Find and download generic 6.2.A.1.100 firmware file and flash it.
Exclude TA when you flash.
I have my firmware uploaded here, it's a two part 7-Zip, archive.
You may look for others that are more sutable for your region.
To root 6.2.A.1.100 use DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.
My phone is acting really crazy and I can't do a backup with PC Companion, nor with the phone app for backup, but I don't care anymore.
I'll try everything you suggested and let you know if it worked.
Thanks a lot, you have been more than helpful. I really appreciate it.
