When you are in Recovery Mode, do NOT choose "apply update from sdcard" instead, choose "install zip from sdcard"

Why multiple same question posts why not ask in the ARHD question and answers thread .
Repeat the usual answer is one the download is bad or two the user fails to follow instructions are 99% of install faults.

About the instruction im 100% sure that ive done them in right way. But the problem is that im recieving the same error in omega.

So, go through step by step what you do. It's easier to suggest fixes if we have all info instead of single line comments...
You said it's rooted, Are you using a Samsung rom with an exfat sd card or a CM rom with an exfat card, Is the card formatted fat32?
What steps do you do when you flash a rom, internal sd card or external?
Clean install or dirty?

Find out what is going qrong by looking at the recovery logs..after a failed install..reboot the phone..use any root enabled explorer to go into cache》recovery and open last install..then read it and find the line where the installation aborts..post the error here..maybe then we can help..
Just writing i am not able to install will notbget you any help...

Ive just flashed VR3 but the tweaks are scarce is there a way to add more tweaks to VRtweaks?
Second Ive got Rom manager (awsome product) but I cant seem to flash cyanogenmod 7. When i direct Rom Managee to install cyannogenmod from sd it gives me the 3 options 'back up current rom' and so on and asks to boot into recovery and when i press OK nothing happens
Please help!!!

Thank you but when i go into cwm and i navigate to the sd card and select it nothing happens maybe there is a problem with my sd card
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Sd card as instructed or external sd card ???
Is CWM 3e or the required 4
jje
If flashing from cwm remember to flash it twice as per instructions from cm7 thread.
I went from villain to cm7 with no issues. Currently testing it and so far its very decent and fast!

NO 4e = Clockwork mod required to flash custom roms .
Guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282
Clockworkmod is a 'custom recovery' made by xda member koush. Every phone had a recovery partition designed so that if the user messes up a ROM installation, they can recover their phone. CWM is a modified recovery installed into the recovery partition that allows advanced control over ROM recovery, installation and much more.
Features of CWM include:
- NANDroid Backup, This allows you to completely back up your existing ROM with all its files, data and apps
- Restore Backup, Restores a previous backup (obviously...)
- ROM installation, Allows you to install a ROM contained inside a flashable .zip file
- Wipe data/Factory reset, completely erases all of your data contacts, apps etc, leaving your phone 'as new'
Amongst others...
Thanks guys you have been a major help, I got cyanogenmod working and for me personly it KICKS VILLAINS ASS

Use ROM manager only for updating CM7 version once you're using CM7. WHen you flash an AOSP ROM for the first time it is better to do it manually via CWM with a full wipe.
I have a android tablet a710 running ics 4.03, I would like to install a custom rom but am unable to find any on the net, could someone help me in my quest please

The way I did it was I moved the cwm file to a SD card then moved it manually to the root of my device.

Download the latest AOKP and the LY-F1 compatibility zip file
CWM controls (VOL -) DOWN, (VOL +) Select and Power Button to go back
Boot in CWM and first fully wipe the tablet, then flash the AOKP then the LY-F1 compatibility zip and flash Gapps then reboot and your done

I thanked all of your replies. I tried using the unlockroot program but it keeps saying "try to install the driver" and it wont root. I am guessing I dont have the correct adb usb drivers? Any help getting it to root is appreciated. I feel so bad asking you all the time for help!
Don't feel bad I was in a same position as you didn't know nothing about the tablet and how to root etc and Yeh you have to install the drivers you did check USB debugging right?

Don't know I mean it should have just rooted it thats what I did after it installed the drivers :/

Hi folks,
I'm having a similar issue, I have a variant of the mid a710 tablet. I changed the dpi to make it more usable and now the tablet is basically a brick as I stupidly didn't install a new launcher app and it repeatedly says "Unfortunately launcher has stopped" (I've looked for a way to fix this but no joy).
My problem is that I cannot find a working driver for the tablet to allow me to flash it. I followed the link from earlier in this thread for Chinese device drivers however it's saying it's not suitable for 64 bit windows, tried it on my 32-bit machine and said it wasn't suitable for that either.
When I get it into recovery mode (lying down android with the red triangle) none of the buttons work to choose wiping the device (vol- and such).
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this tablet? Not too bothers about having JB but at least getting back to ICS would be lovely.
Thanks.
thanks alot guys

Yea you can use cwm for nearly all custom roms just read the installation instructions first

Isn't it the same as with the HTC... just download the rom and "instal from zip" when phone is booted in recovery mode ?

Metod is the same on all android phones with cwm.

For a good, stable and fast rom you could try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334 and choose 2.2.0 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656. Both roms` s are good. Choose for yourself . Look in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1566for for all rom`s.
I am sorry but i do not have any experience with cwm based phones. My HTC was fully clockwork modded. But the options when booted in recovery are the same...so i asume it Works the same ??

CWM is short for 'Clockwork Mod'
So they not only look the same but (except for potential device-specific features) ARE the same =)

if you do, I think it may also wipe your sd card so you need to have the Rom on the external sd card, and have the internal one backed up on pc
Most ROM downloads in zip format should flash through cwm and most tar through Odin, however, as previously stated, read installation instructions to be sure.
You also may want to checkout the TWRP recovery, much more efficient IMO

I have formatted my SD Card using fat32 and have tried to flash the new Jedi XVX ROM several times and it has failed every single time. I am currently on Eclipse V.1.1.1. I can flash Jelly Beans, Black Beans, and any other RoM you can think of except Jedi's. It's quite frustrating when I think I've done the basic troubleshooting steps and get nada. I am reading that people are drooling all over this ROM and it seems like I am the only one getting an error every time.

You update it by flashing the new ROM over the top of it when the foxhound Dev releases it. Exactly the same way as you did initially when first installing Foxhound.
Go to recovery
install zip from sd card (or wherever you downloaded it to)
Flash zip.
As long as you dont format data then you will not lose you apps etc.
Fix permissions is under "Advanced" in ClockwordMod recovery. It "fixes" the read/write/execute permissions of apps to make them compatible with the system.

But when i click the fixed permission it stuck... i wonder why.. i left it for about 5 mins n nothing happen..

I had that once. Just reboot the device let it boot fully. Everything will be ok.
