Hi everyone!
I have an Xperia Tablet S and want to make a wallpaper that works both in landscape and portrait.
I have an imagine and know how to enlarge the canvas in an art programme, but what dimensions should I use?
The main image that I want to use is 960 x 854.
Thanks!
edit - found it.... 1920 x 1408..

The wallpaper dimensions for the Xperia Tablet S are the same as for the Sony Tablet S. The tablet's 1920 x 800 pixel screen displays a 1920 x 752 pixel wallpaper view in horizontal (landscape) mode and a 800 x 1232 pixel wallpaper view in vertical (portrait) mode.
The missing 48 pixels in both modes are used by the menu bar located at the bottom of the tablet's screen. Also, the translucent menu located at the top of the tablet's screen covers 56 pixels in horizontal mode and 48 pixels in vertical mode.
However, because the five different display screens are viewed by sliding them left and right, and the wallpaper view is shifted, wallpaper images need to be larger than the dimensions given above; wallpaper images need to be sized 1920 x 1280 pixels. For more information about sizing wallpaper images, read THIS post.
Thanks Cat McGowan!
That link and your information is very helpful..
I have attached my first attempt... I have the Xperia T so now my Xperia Tablet matches.
Thanks again!

Guys when applying my fiancees photo as a wallpaper it streches over multiple screens, how can i apply to fit it to the whole screen and stop the scrolling, it isnt rooted etc its completly stock and new today.
If your pic is not 480 x 800 resolution you can't set the whole pic as wallpaper. Any 480 x 800 pic will fit perfectly for portrait wallpaper. Select the portait mode when setting wallpaper: you have 2 options when choosing the pic, to fit on all scrollable screens or just on one screen.
Thanks mate that's brilliant.

Ah didn't know that about the stock launcher. I wanted to recommend you Launcher Pro that has an option to not scroll the wallpaper when switching homescreens.
use launcher pro plus, because its very good and it has that option you want
He asked about wallpaper, not your preference of launcher.
I have 3 home screens, I want to make a wallpaper where each home screen is a different image so I divided a 480x320 wallpaper in 3 but it's not perfect. Anyone got a solution?
What size of wallpapers should we use for Sony Tablet S?

Original (stock) wallpapers are sized 2048x1504, and I've seen that size recommended for tablets elsewhere also.
So I guess when your image has these dimensions and you set the wallpaper crop box to maximum size you get non-stretched (or very little stretched) image.
Just keep in mind, that it crops out good chunks from top and bottom in portrait mode and even bigger chunks in landscape mode.
I have made a Sony S1 Tablet wallpaper template in Photoshop.
It has a size of 1920x1408px and its different areas are colour-coded (and it also has guidelines in PS-file):
- Red: invisible area (some of it is briefly shown while the tablet is turned and the wallpaper flips)
- Darker green: middle home screen in landscape mode
- Lighter green: whole scrollable area in landscape mode
- Darker blue: middle home screen in portrait mode
- Lighter blue: scrollable area in landscape mode
It's been tested and is pixel-perfect if you set the crop correctly- when setting as wallpaper, first move the blue crop box to the upper-left corner and then stretch the lower corner to the most lower-right point and click "Ok".

Looks like raundown is right, image sized 1920x1408px seems a bit crisper than the image with the size I previously suggested.
I have corrected the wallpaper image template in my previous post, it's now 1920x1408px.
Bit of a different one,
I've just downloaded a wallpaper for my phone today at 1920x1080 and set it as a lockscreen wallpaper, however upon turning the phone on the resolution is much lower, grainy in fact. Now I tried in the gallery to zoom in as much as the lockscreen has and there is no grainy image, so whats up with the wallpaper tool on the GS3
any help welcome.
Luke.
Are you using Touchwiz? Try a 720 x 1280 wallpaper for the lockscreen. If you are using a 3rd party launcher use 1440 x 1280 wallpapers.
Also be aware that the lockscreen shows a slightly dimmer lower quality wallpaper resolution.
deactivate ripple effect and try again.
Thanks for the fix much better
