i cant find in the forum so if you know a rom or kernel please give me a link.
thanks for al the helpers!
Hey, there is a thread on the first page of "general" about this, it wouldn't even have required a search to find!! This question has been answered thousands of times, plus you could just look in the development thread to find out yourself! THE ONLY ROM AND KERNAL FOR THE 4.0 INTERNATIONAL IS STEVE'S! (the rom is not for U.S, the kernal is)

hi,
i have some questions please,
1- what is the different between those 2 section; Galaxy S III Android Development & Galaxy S III Original Android Development?
2- what is the different between ROM / Kernel
3- are all developed ROM / Kernel already tested?, so no worries on the phones?
4- is it required that the phone must be rooted to install ROM / Kernel?
thanks. and sorry for the many questions ( i am new here )
hi there
1. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/introducing-original-development-forums-for-more-devices/
Original Android Development is basically sub forum for dev's but you can also get some neat stuff outta there.
2. well, i can try and answer this but it's been answered many times i'd start from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/FAQ
3. they're tested but always take responsibility of themselves in case of bricked phone.
4. yes/
Hi Guys,
Just got an s3 GT-I900T moving from a HTC Desire HD.
Few questions in regards to rooting as I rooted my DHD which was rather easy.
My questions are
1. Firmware v Rom - What's the difference and do I need to flash both or..?
2. Anything you would recommend I should know that is different in the rooting process for the device?
Accessories related questions
1. I've tried finding it, but how much thicker does using the Hyperion 4200mAH make the phone, from photo's it looks to make it roughly double the size?
2. For the Hyperion 2200mAH - How more time does it bring the battery to, eg from a day to a day and a half or?
Sorry if my questions seem stupid.. they do seem a little stupid to me, but I did try searching - possibly I'm just terribly at seaching for things

1. Not sure if there is really a big difference. Firmware for me is a rom, custom roms are also roms/firmwares in a way
2. Read the Stickies in the General thread, it will help you to get behind the rooting process.
ps: I guess you meant GT-I9300T not GT-I900T

Yes I did mean that..
In regards to 1 - Cool, I was hoping they were the same, hence the stupid question part, thanks Chrismast.
2 - Good call, missed the sticky that actually mattered - Saw it as the following;

I have personally moved away from permanent custom recoveries, and I am no longer supporting them. On newer devices they cause flash counter and OTA flashing issues. If you really want one, others do provide versions of CWM and TWRP for most devices. Personally I just use Mobile ODIN to install ZIPs and Titanium Backup for my backup/restore needs. I do always want root though, and as such I'm still supporting CF-Auto-Root as quick way to root."
Originally I was going to install CWM, but yeah, what's the best way to go about this?

yes, you can use CF-Auto-Root whereas I did not use it as it was not available (?) that time, but I am sure there is a guide in that thread. Otherwise you could use CF-Root 6.4. Make sure you have the international I9300/T version though! Also a good start to read is here. For backups, once you installed CWM you will be able to do a nandroid backup. In addition backup your EFS folder and copy it to your computer, instructions here. I hope it helps!

(1) question like "what rom/recovery/whatever use" are not allowed due to forum rules
(2) Start by reading all guides to get a background on roms, recovery, rooting, flashing etc.
(3) a good start to give you an overview is the development's section recovery threads, the most used, I feel, is Philz recovery, but I am neither telling you to use it or that it is the best, as this is personal perception
good luck!
Its all in the faqs and guides .
Use TWRP or Philz
Nice and so funny....

You misunderstand .
The rules say search first and you should have read the faqs and guides first .
So no the same question that is posted hundreds of times and is now posted again as the user is to lazy to read is not wanted noob or not .
Your question is answered in detail in the basic faq .

You choose Wrong Section Man!
You must ask your question in Q&A section:
Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Sorry, did not realize that . I found solution from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273 . Installed CF-Auto-Root :good:. I believe that custom recovery is very easy to find and install from this point.
