lag issues? i'm not familiar with blade buddy or that touch screen app for galaxy.
i haven't done anything *too* intensive on the phone but i have rarely experience any type of lag on this device. the lack of lagging has been very impressive to me.
if you are on the stock ROM and kernel and still experiecing lag, based on my personal experience, you might want to look into taking it back for an exchange as it could be a hardware issue.
if you don't experience the lag on a stock ROM and kernel, it might be whatever custom ROM or kernel you're using has an issue or bug. if you're on a custom ROM/kernel, also good to check in those specific threads to see if anybody else has reported a similar issue so the dev knows to look into it and resolve.
hope that helps!
Yea when I first got the phone the xda east major laggy and that's before I rooted so I guess I need to take it back then cuz this sucks...since I rooted its been flawless but couple days later the lag would come back and now my screen is becoming unresponsive at time for like 2-3 secs!!!

yea. as a last resort test, i'd flash everything back to stock and run it for a day. see if its still laggy. if it is still laggy, find good examples of when it lags so when you take it back, you can show the person how laggy it is through the examples.
hopefully you can swap out for a device w/no issues!

lol yea, given the unknown area rooting a device currently sits from a legal standpoint, i'd avoid anything related to rooting the device as a prime example.
ideally, if you're experiencing lag on the device, it will occur frequently in common tasks like making/ending a phone call or moving between text messages or moving between menus in the settings screen, etc. it makes the best case for having an issue when you're able to demonstrate it lags during normal routine operations.
hope that helps!

hah yea. working on mainly two small apps on the market, root check and flashimagegui. pondering publishing the completely stock ROM with root, busybox and some developer tools i use on my personal device (as I did publish this on the evo and it was decently popular - might be where you saw my name). also, trying to help out (give back) in the q&a boards when i can!
if you find some good common tasks which cause the device to lag, post them back here as people with the same or similar issues might find this thread through searching and it'll give them some rough benchmark to compare against.
i've yet to see this device lag through any common tasks i run. previous android phones ive had would experience lag so this device has definitely impressed me!

i put mine back to stock and my screen well freeze or lag couple times a day and i have to hit power button to put it to sleep and wake it back up to stop it from doing that and that last only a couple hours.
I was using my phone and the chrome browser tripped out on me. I got a screenshot of it. I hit home it got worse. I couldn't screenshot that though. I had to force restart it.

you dont need to exchange it unless it keeps happening and with other apps too.. you dont exchange a phone because an app is freaking out.

If you are using sk8s 2.0 kennel that has GPU overclock, you may want to consider going to his 2.1 version that doesn't oc the GPU.

agreed, had a HTC Sensation before the LGOG and running some of the CM10 roms would cause chrome to bug out in exactly the same way all the time (like had to use stock browser cause this happened so frequently).
It has to be chrome. It happened again. But when I press home key it blows my whole screen up. I'm going to write Google a letter.

I've built many pcs over the years and that was a sign of either a bad gpu or one clocked too high.. not sure how a stable app would (or could) do that... just my opinion.
I run the freegee kernel. No gpu overclock. I think. Wouldn't it be more than just chrome app if it was hardware?

As a driver software engineer, I disagree. It looks to me more like the software is attempting to use a different rendering mode than the hardware is configured for at the time.

Specifically, the tiling makes me think that portion of the view isn't being drawn in the correct resolution or is not being properly converted when it's copied to the frame buffer.

Idk. I did do a bunch of different bench apps to try to tweak it out. I have not noticed that problem

I have had a million similar issues with my phone, LG nitro HD P930. However, the issue only exists on the homescreen itself and not within any apps. Same type of glitches will randomly occur either on the homescreen, the notification drawer, option tab, etc, but not on any specific app. When I switch to an app the phone works fine. These issues happened ever since I switched to CM10, n many other users on our forum on CM10 experiences same issues. I don't believe its chrome, I believe its either cm10 or whichever ROM you're using. Revert back to stock and see if it still happens.

Sure, it's a bug on chrome that happens to only one or two people out of the millions running cm10/jb. If it happens to you too, then you can point a nice finger to google for their buggy app. Otherwise, there are hundred of other possible reasons to a glitch. My reason is cm10, since I am experiencing similar issues ever since I hopped on cm10, never on cm9 or stock. So if you had read my post carefully, I suggested to revert back to stock just to see if chrome is still buggy on stock ICS. If it still is, well, there you have your answer, a buggy app. He can go back to whatever rom he is on. If chrome is fine on ICS, well, then something is up with the ROM he is on. Simple as that.

This only happens to me when I'm trying to use my phone while it is plugged in and charging. It acts all crazy, but once I unplug it the thing works fine. I pretty much keep my phone in ECO mode and haven't switched that off to see if it makes a difference.
Same here. I keep my phone on ECO mode and have no issues with responsiveness, except for once in a while when it's plugged in and charging.

I DO have that problem with mine. I am unlocked, rooted and running nottach's Base ROM the problem has reoccurred with the stock ROM and versions 0.5, 0.6.5 and 0.7.3 .
It's probably a kernel-level memory or CPU issue because for most people it appears to be a specifically time-based problem. The longer your uptime is, the worse the problem gets. Reboot your phone and the problem goes away for awhile.

I've edited your post. This is a great example of the same phone, running a similar set up behaving completely different. The user you quoted wasn't doing anything other than stating that they don't have this problem so chill out a little and accept that each person can have a different experience and opinion. yup plenty of people are using it.. definitely seems to smooth things out.
So can this be used on ICS? I see where it's mentioned but doesn't specifically say. It looks interesting
Any word on the effect on battery life?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I have it bundled in CounterShrike 3.0, and available as a download for PAC-Man. In both cases, it's the background service only and not the app, but the effect is the same. I'm quite skeptical of performance tweaks, but so far, this one seems legit. It does not help general performance. It does help anything that uses entropy...app lauching, task switching (including return to home), many list based loads (Facebook newsfeed as one example), and so on.
The add on version I have is generic enough to run on any ROM and device as long as the kernel supports init.d. http://androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390233485161005378
Edit: I've seen zero battery impact. If anything, it may be a bit better, but that's totally subjective.
I'll give this a shot
I've been running the flashable script version for a few days. It does appear to make a difference though I haven't done any hard testing.

Seems to make a slight difference only noticeable sometimes on inef dues. Antutu scores are the same. I think what I notice most is it being a little snappier between app switching. Hopefully it doesn't affect my battery life
I bought the app from the Play Store, but it deactivates itself every time the screen is turned off. Also, it's never prompted me for root access, so I'm quite skeptical that it's doing anything on my phone.

Is it Seeder by LCIS for 1.49? I may try and see. But I already flashed that zip shrike posted so I'd have to restore my nandroid and then try it
So, what about the article on the portal about these claims of improvement being false? Does anyone have any real proof either way about this or is it just a placebo? When really amazing devs not only say it works but also include it in their ROMs, it makes you think there's a little more to it. Just curious.
Quite a few reputable devs out there saying this does nothing at all that's it's all placebo.
Idk if it's this or something else I flashed but my phone will not go over like 550mb of ram. So every app I open has to reload kind of

They are both the same thing, you have the option of installing it as a script and let init.d start it or as an app..

K if I remember when I restore my nandroid i'll try it and see. I can see a difference but on faster/newer phones or AOSP Roms you more than likely won't see any. But after flashing that it's definitely different. Not sure if it's for the better or not since I can only tell with switching apps.
Edit: I feel like any tweaked rom is going to do the same. I just bought that app and it made literally no difference. Maybe the difference I was seeing was from the animations I flashed. Lol interesting. I also notice my ram is being used better without the tweaks.. What do the tweaks actually do?
I didn't notice much of a difference so I uninstalled it. And whatever you do, don't pay for it in the Play Store. Go to the thread in the OP and get it for free.

do nightlies seem to get issues resolved on a quicker basis? not that I have had any yet with the 4.3's I have run so far. actually pretty impressed so far.
Depending on your style of life (and view of marriage) it's more like being married but waking up with a different sister every morning. Problems may be resolved faster on nightlys (or not truthfully) but new ones are likely to arrive just as quickly. Plus we
are warned not to send in bug reports because being nightlys they are supposed to have bugs. I never completely understood that because we seem to be an ideal audience from which to get feedback. But those seem

you would think nightlies should be more stable. sounds like its a yes but no? which makes it a personal preference and what are you willing to tolerate or sacrifice? pretty much like everything else.
it makes things more sporting anyway. after a month on the most solid ROM my phone has ever been on, I was getting bored.
I just keep following the forums, trying different nightlys, and wait for that gem that comes along and everything works like a dream. Those gems are few and far between sometimes, but usually worth the wait. And so far, 10.2 is off to a good start!
