Wowzzers!!! That is a much longer wait than I would have liked.
Sony better have some ICS updates in the pipeline to at least fix the wake bug.
Wrong. The late 2012 devices (blues) will actually get it later than fujis and montblancs.

If that's right what you say(which i suppose it is) the fujis are due to get it this year?Or early 2013?
The article does say that jelly bean for the xs, xas and so on will roll out in due course, I'd like to think that that means we will be getting it sooner.

I still think early November is very possible for fujis, with late November/early December for montblancs.

If that's true we will have to get a new announcement before November right?
i think they left out the Sola and the U as they want to develop something special for the floating touch and the LED bar respectively. Anyway Go and P which has the exact same specs is going to receive it.
(Tries to think positive )
K900, I really want to believe you, however "due course" is an incredibly vague statement. Could be soon, as you said November, could be by end of year December near holiday season. Or it could be after their newer flagship phones receive the update. Sony should just say yes it will roll out in 2012 or no it will not roll out till 2013, I would be happier with that statement than "due course"
Just my two cents
Love my Acro S
Be positive guys
It will be much easier to port JB From P to U and Sola(Same Chipsets)
Hope that Sony Will Release It Soon.(Diwali)

awesome dissapointment by sony
might be ust me but i dont expect much from a JellyBean update from sony themselves anyway, look at all the bugs that made when they gave us ICS. Its that we got XDA developers to fix stock firmwares, remove all the bloatware and optimize them cause otherwise the stock ROMS would be pure thrash.
the upside: Camera drivers, with that CM10 should be near usable as a daily driver.
kinda funny that there was another blog posted at that link btw, Sony not updating 2011 devices to Jellybean? I mean c'mon, they are 1 year old, they seem to drop support for their devices afther 1 year or something. So that might aswell mean that afther next year the Xperia S/P/Arc etc wont get updates either. lets just hope this isnt the case.
I think they trying to do something special for both Sola and U. Both have unique features that the rest do not have.

so no JB for sony xperia S this november?
If Sony tells as 'q1 2013' I will expect SW update q2...
BTW. Let everyone sell our devices and make some money and buy galaxy nexus or something like this.

I hope so...waiting.
The ICS update for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray is come at the end of March/early April 2012. And this is here.
The second wave will begin from the end April or the start of May 2012. So, Xperia Neo users need to wait for about a month.

But at the moment, there is no certified SW for Neo V, Arc S or Ray in PTCRB. The last is 4.0.2.A.0.69, which comes in February.

Well Sony is known to be late in fw updating anyway.Btw I don't get whats with all this cannot wait till we get ICS from sony, tbh I didn't saw much improved in ICS beta rom comparing to gingerbread stock rom. Also there are other better ICS variants like MIUI,CM9 there to use if you need ICS that much and you cannot simply wait anymore that your head is gonna explode thinking about ICS
Even after Sony releasing it don't expect it to be 100% stable and bug free guys,it will take some time for Sony to release a stable ICS rom for each model,if they succeed releasing a fully working bug free ICS on first go then that might be a miracle imho.
Well i hope that they will release official ICS rom for our phones soon. The current gingerbread rom that i use (.62 build) is very stable and fast but the new features of gingerbread will be useful. What is suspicious is that it is the end of march already and there is nothing certified in ptcrb. I hope that the acquisition of Sony Ericsson by sony will not result in delay of the update for the xperia 2011 devices. After all they already released alpha and beta ICS rom so the final one should be close. Let's hope.
ICS beta was not so stable as we thought, but yes it was/is a beta, and Sony have telling that if you read good enough, they will work on the final to get more stabilty and looking where the problems can be for lag etc, so i think that the final ICS have more stability
then the beta, thats why they needed time to fix it
I hope you understand me.

I think, Sony developers (or other Sony workers) are monitoring XDA and the ROMs from ICS Beta sources. It helps them to make the final firmware more stable and fastest.

pipi14, i must congratulate with you for writing the dumbest comment on the entire forum... According to what you said sony could never release a firmware that has been already certificated (this mean tested). Besides, if you carefully read the box in which your phone was when you bought it you'll find "android 4.0 upgradable" on it.
Last thing: google itself described sony as the best manufacter in upgrading its handset to ICS (all 2011 xperia have ICS). Samsung upgrades only the flagship, htc says that phones like the htc desire will be updated and then cancels the update (but launches phone like the desire C with ICS and 600mhz processor .-.) and LG... well, lg don't upgrade at all

I still dont update to ICS .. why ? And you already have ? its now 9.sepember
Octuber....1st week :L
From what I understood by translating this with Google, we'll get Jellybean soon.
http://vnsony.com/threads/2486/
They say that the guy who told them very accurate info about new Sony smartphones(Yuga and Odin) also gave them info that there will be a Jelly Bean update in two weeks.
Well, your thoughts, gentlemen!
I think Xperia S will get support for updates up to Key Lime Pie, so it wasn't something to worry about.
Late October/early November seems most likely for JB on fujis and blues, late November for montblancs.
fujis= xperia s and arco hd
blues= xperia t tx v etc.
montblanc= xperia p u sola
that right?

this is exciting! it is strange though that sony have kept so quiet on this release, as normally they tend to mention an update and then it comes a few weeks later? is there a reason why they haven't confirmed yet either that said handsets will be updated?
thanks

Yeah, pretty much. Those are board names: fuji - S3 based (S, Acro HD, Acro S, NX, etc), montblanc - U8500 based (P, U, Sola, Go, etc), blue - S4 based (T, TX, TL, V, not J). Expect an announcement soon.

Well I don't know about timing - on Android, Sony hasn't suddenly surprised users with version upgrades like that before, they tend to announce it in advance, and more recently, closer to the launch date as seen with the 2012 phones with ICS. This would be the tightest schedule yet, if they do announce it soon.
Previously, I wouldn't have minded much about Jelly Bean, but I was browsing a 2010 Sony Ericsson phone on 2.1 and it is MUCH faster than my 2012 Sony phone on ICS - so the aim of Jelly Bean to deliver performance and experience improvements of ICS is welcome in my book ... :good:
It's clearly going to happen. Sony have big plans to increase market share this year and promptness of updates is key to getting a god reputation. and Samsung has already got their jellybean updates rolling.....

I have bought XMP in April 2012 with great hope. I have used SE K550i for 6 years without any trouble and that's why I chose XMP as my first smartphone. I have waited for the ICS update with great expectations that it will empower my XMP to the full potential. But Sony disheartened me, like most of the people out there with a 2011 xperia device.
Then I thought that they are going to make things better by providing us with a buttery-smooth JB release, since 2011 xperia devices are only 1 year old at the time of announcing the JB by Google. But today I learned that we will not be getting the JB update. This is a bad move from Sony. They may not realize this but consumers these days are smart and well-informed. I bet all the 2012 xperia users are happy now, but soon they will realize that their smartphones will be as cramped as the 2011 xperias with ICS update. Also, they will be rejected just like us after only a year (or even less) from now. Moreover, as I understand form their official announcement on this matter, even Xperia U won't get the JB update (they have excluded this name from their list).
However, I will wait for Kamarush for the JellyXProject he promised.

Yes I think Apple's support is really good, but if you see a nexus phone it's the same. I mean the nexus s got the jelly bean update :good:
Guys, this is nothing new. The previous line of Xperias (X8, X10 mini + pro,...) were stuck on android 2.1 from sony. There was no official support from CyanogenMod, FXP moved to newer line of phones, yet the comunity keeps the development on and there are already CM10 ROMs. I had X8 and hated Sony for this. Now i have mini pro and I don't care about Sony, they gave us great hardware for great price. People there will keep it comming, just show some support to the devs, send them few bucks, at least for a beer, just to show appreciation.

February is a considerably long distance away when you consider when JB first came out.
In my view, it was a revolution in android software. Google Now, Project Butter, its enough to make any device sell.
Wonder if this is the same as the XXperia Tab that was promised in 2012.

Well, in russian 4pda news about JB for SPGT11* was posted in september or early, but thanks, now we know the date.
The only thing that spoils my mood about this thing - obviously sony will include new recovery in JB update, and it's no good for users who wants to have an ability to flash their tablets with some tools like AiO... And I pretty sure that release of JB for my SPGT114RU/S (16+3G) will come with some kind of delays... Eh, never mind.

Lol what's your deal man? In my opinion Jelly Bean has been the most important update to Android yet, as it brings Android up to the smoothness level of iOS and also matches Siri with Google now. "I doubt its gonna bring anything amazing to yhe table why are ppl so obsessed with updates": First of all, do you know anything about Jelly Bean? Yeah. It brings A LOT to the table. And secondly, I am not obsessed with updates. However, I do like having the latest version of Android. If you're one of those people that can feel fine about being stuck in Android 2.3, then all the more power to you. But I'm just not that way, and there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, why are you replying to this thread if you don't care? Seems like you've got too much time on your hands.
Having used the nexus s and now on a galaxy nexus, I can testify to how great an improvement jb is over ics. Much smoother and a good sized improvement in battery life, even when using generic AOSP builds. I do hope Sony gives 4.2a thought though... there's lots of tablet only features that would be a good fit for this device, particularly while the nexus 10 remains hard to get.

I just hope someone can work out how to root a tablet S thats already done the r5a update, before JB comes out.
I hate having a bunch of stock rubbish put on after an update. but on the other hand, my bluetooth works properly again. i was having problems listening to music in the car (I had to exit and reopen the music player every time i reconnected to the headunit)
Awesome, can't wait!

Why are you still here, man? You've already said that this topic is pointless because you don't care about JB. I fail to see how replying to your post was me taking it "waaaaaaaaayyyyyy to personally".
Now ure putting words in my mouth I said neither of those things. And if you read the my later posts I said it might be pre cool. I took a look at a few reviews on youtube and I can see why people are excited about this one.

I apologize; I replied without reading your later posts. That was my fault I do wish you'd researched a little about JB before initially denouncing it in my thread, but that's alright because you know what's up now. We cool, dude.
