[Q]Optimal settings for FPSE (Playstation Emulator)? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hey guys, this is probably a noob question but it's been a long week.
I've got fpse on my phone and I want to play playstation games with it. However, the game keeps hopping between 40fps and 20fps. I know that's nonsense because I could get it steady at 60fps on both my old galaxy tab 10.1 and my epic touch.
So, my question is, what are the optimal settings that I need to enable/disable in order to get 60fps. I know the processor can handle it, lesser processors already have.
Thanks

Change frameskip to auto. But my suggestion is get a ps1. I've grown to loathe emulation, especially on phones. Touch controls suck and I know about using a ps3 controller.
It still sucks and looks weird playing games that won't work right because its emulated and on a tiny screen. Yes you can use the media link or mhl, but if your going through all that trouble why not get the console and hook it up. The cost of all that jazz is more expensive than the actual system plus games anyway.

Hahaha thank you for your response. The frameskip did most of the work...changing my governor to something other than "conservative" did the rest.
Happily, I actually already have a MHL cable (I use my phone to watch live hockey games...when there isn't a lockout) and a PS3 controller, so I actually do use it as a console. My gf has a PS1 and has a few fun games for it, but I just enough the experience. I do have to play on mute, because sound never seems to work right.

For those of you who have it working I have a question.. Is it REALLY worth the $4.99!? Ive been spoiled by .99c games. Honestly I doubt I purchase it just because of that. But if Im missing out and NEED to play this game could any body offer a brief explanation why? I have read about the game already but would like to hear from someone who is playing on an Atrix. Thanks ahead of time.

i bought it yesterday, but didn't play it for very long. it's a pretty fun game, and the controls were really intuitive. it's exactly how you would want to control a fps on a touch screen, left side of the screen for moving and right for camera.
the graphics were pretty amazing for a smartphone, i was impressed. and i didn't experience any sort of lag, which was even better (using the 1.0ghz enhanced kernel CM7)
i'd say it's worth the 5 dollars, i only got about half an hour into it so far and was already satisfied with my purchase. the animations are all voice acted so far, gameplay is fun, and controls are great for a touch screen.
I highly recommend this game. Well worth the $5. The controls are much better than the gameloft FPS's that I've played and the graphics are amazing. When you compare the price to a console game it's a no brainer purchase.
On the gameloft shooters they kinda auto aim for you (sorta like goldeneye on n64) but on this game once you press the fire button you can move your finger and move your aim, like having dual joysticks. Also the left joystick appears wherever you put your thumb (on the left half of the screen) eliminating the problem of your finger missing the joystick.
The cover system is easy to use and works well. It's nice to have that instead of just having to run around shooting. The enemy AI isn't as good as many console games but miles ahead of other mobile shooters. Enemies will move from cover to cover, one will stick back while the other tries to flank you, etc.
There are a few very minor glitches here and there, but it runs very well on the atrix.
Well worth it...just be ready to kiss your battery byebye

Haven't checked, but i haven't modified it, it's the one from aura 1.2.2.1 deblur aura. Might be the 3.2.0 market messes things up.
Definitely worth it,especially considering it'll get an update for multiplayer in the near future apparently (forgot where i read it but it was a legit source). And the game is great to play, it has great graphics and is very smooth and fast.

Hey all over in the photon forums I have figured out the mapping to be able to use a PS3 controller with the game. I would post a link but I am on mobile. Look in the photon themes and apps. The title is easy to see. Says Shadowgun available for tegra 2 devices. I have only tested the ps3 controller with the photon so hopefully it works for you guys too.

I'm using Aura 1.2.2.0 (just haven't made the upgrade to 1.2.2.2 yet) and had the "download is incompatible with your device" from the market, however, I was able to install via market.android.com
Also... Yesterday(?), there was an update available for the game. After installing it, the character was holding an invisible gun that shelled out little pink blocks. Apparently this was a pretty common problem. This was fixed by reinstalling the game after deleting /sdcard/Android/data/com.madfingergames.shadowgun

Sadly there is no way to make hdmi mirroring with the Atrix... Widescreen that is.
This game is great on both my Atrix and eee pad transformers. For anybody having glitches, just uninstall the game and reinstall. I had to do that on both devices afterthe update. Also for those who have an eee pad with dock, you can plug up an Xbox 360 controller and play the game like it is an Xbox 360 game, just loads faster.

Is the game worth it? It's a bit like asking if it's worth breathing. The graphics are amazing, the controls are very user-friendly and fun, the game runs without any sort of lag or problem and it's like Resident Evil 5 but for mobile phones.
This is the first game that i actually find worth buying for my Atrix.

I suck as FPS and I'm a sucker for eye candy, but I definitely think this is a 10/10. Very well polished game. Some FPS pros might get bored of it but I'm not good enough at the genre to make an informed decision lol
Definitely with $5 or whatever it was.

android games vs handheld game consoles

Okay guys with the launch of google play users are given the ability to grasp media ranging from movies, music to android application and games no matter what device they are using.
But my question is regarding the games supplied by devs
More and more graphically intense games are put on to the market and with the help of special segments like Nvidia tegra zone, makes you wonder whether you should upgrade to a dedicated gaming device like PSVita.
If you do a rough comparison in terms of specs(of the device),price(both console and games),quality, gameplay, controls, presentation, and most of all practicality(battery utilization) what would you choose
What are your opinions?
Having had the PSP and played a few games on my SGS2 and Samsung Tablet, it's the controls on the PSP/PS Vita which win for me.
I also think will depend on the type of game you like. Shadowrun, Nova 2, Modern Combat 3 don't feel as good on android. Also racing games don't really feel like driving games but that is me.
I have been sucked in by some for strategy games and they are perfect. MMO's are probably better off as have keyboard but haven't really tried.
I am looking at the PSVita sometime in the future.
i agree hardware controls are better input methods for gaming than touch screens, and there is some art in console gaming when it comes to controlling our avatar (be it character , vehicle, ship of whatever) instead of just repeated screen tapping..i got the gameloft's "BackStab'' game..don't get me wrong it's a top notch game for mobiles but if it were a PSP/Vita game you'd have more flexibility in terms of controls, but since it's a touch based button game on a relatively small screen devs probably had no other choice than to make it simple..

Quality games controls on android is no longer an issue. Latest version of sixaxis control for android even has touch controls emulation that is sheer genius. Allows any touch game to be setup for a ps3 pad.
Only issue in my opinion is which two devices do you want to carry??
Phone+games device
OR

an handeld device has to be handeld to be and handeld deivice - if you have to put it on a desktop to use it, the screen is too small so you will need a hdmi (if you device support it) connection and a tv.
it starts to be a bit unwieldy imho, carrying a tv and a desktop in your pocket.
I have been living a cave obviously lol.
I only saw a quick demo but Sonic the Hedgehog!? I might see if I can connect my Galaxy Tab to the sixaxis controller to play Shadowrun or Nova but I don't think I would carry with me and play in the train, etc. or anywhere in public personally am a PC gamer with the odd mobile game.
Maybe if big developers get behind the platform will we see bigger budget games. Quality of games developed for consoles is different between that of phones. I wouldn't be surprised if this changes in the future though.
Original OP asked about the differences now but don't see that the playing field is the same based on the games and hardware that has come out so far.

for me it's a matter of choosing where to play what.
for home gaming I use my PS3, for mobile gaming - my android's (Galaxy SII and Galaxytab 10.1) are wonderfull!
if I'm in a situation where I only have a few minutes, the SII is superp:
it's already in my pocket - the games installed are easy to just jump in and play for a few minutes. also great to entertain my little princess when we have to wait, and she gets restless.. the ability to use something you already have with you in your pocket is far better than having to remember to bring a console.
for longer gaming situations (travel etc.) the 10.1 offers a larger screen - and then the possibility to play more advanced games. more than advanced enough for my use. the ability to have a combined gamedevice and possibility to surf the web/check mail/etc. in one device is great, no need to bring a heavy laptop.
after I got the tab, I no longer need a laptop - I use the tab for small tasks, and a desktop computer for advanced tasks.
in all cases it comes down to using the correct device for my needs.
and the android devices more than satisfies mine

WHAT!?!?!?!
no offence but are you an idiot or just hopeless ate presenting your thoughts in a manner that makes sense.
WTF would anyone place a 4" screen across the room from them??? .......... if this is how you setup to play games on your phone no wonder your not enjoying the process.
The 1st part is idiotic enough but you then completely outdo yourself with the carry a TV and a desktop suggestion ........ because i don't want to form an even lower opinion of you than i already have, am going to regard this comment as an epically failed attempt at humour.
Please go start a poll asking how many forum users place there phone 2-3metres away to play games.
Then another asking if they think adding a desk and a 40" TV screen to their mobile kit would solve the problem ..............
WTF are they feeding kids where you live bro ?!?!?!?!?

With USB controller, everything else works other than shooting. Makes the game a bit hard. Is there any way to fix this? Maybe map the controls other way? The USB/BT joystick app doesn't see my controller, but it works fine in the other games.

One app, but the resolution can be turned up to 100%, other features like sorta like the GTA 3 options.
I really like it so far, brings back good memories playing this game for the PS1 back in the day! Controls work well, I didnt have to make any adjustments to them, I had to turn the brightness up a bit though in the settings. Overall, well worth the $3.00 asking price.
yeah, happy memories runs well and has built in ps3 gamepad support (bluetooth)... no sixaxis app required.

RockStar hit a home run with this game. I am very impressed with the graphics(with everything in video cut on or to the Max). Really good graphics. Looks way better than what I remember playing it back in the day. Love the story line. I forgot all about they killed his wife n child. I made it to the subway, first part then saved. Will get more into the game later tonight.
Also this game played fine, so far, on this new build I'm testing. No issues at all. Games like this, ShadowGun, & sonic 2 are the reason of love the tegra3 chipset so much. Nvidia is really smart giving us these exclusive optimized versions. It makes people want a tegra3 tablet. Tegra3 tablets are the best. Can't wait to see what tegra4 with likely keplar based gpu will bring. With games like these,I don't need a console system. Plus the games are alot cheaper
I'm now ready for Bladeslinger, that zombie fps, and any other tegra3 optimized game. I gotta have em all..lol. make sure to play this game, or any other game, with superips+ on. I have it at lowest setting usually. It makes the games, colors, details, display pop more. Its so much better with this mode on.
I've purchased all the high end games that has come out thus far but somehow I'm holding back on this one. Probably because I've already played it so many times back in the days. Everything's identical to the pc version even his face lol. Intro is exactly the same. I'm really glad though that game developers are recognizing android now and putting out high end games close to or at the same time as the ipad versions.

Game Controllers/MHL/Performance

Hey everyone! After 3 years of being an iPhone user, I'm joining the Droid side! I've been reading the forums for weeks now before getting it so I don't come off as a total jerk posting.
I'm getting a Galaxy S3 on AT&T this weekend, and one of the things I'm looking forward to the most is gaming. I want to get 4 bluetooth controllers, an N64/PS1 emulator, and an MHL adapter so that I can play old school games on my own, but also with friends with multiplayer on the television. Here are my questions:
1. Is the Galaxy S3 fully capable of running PS1/N64 games with a great frame rate, with 4 controllers attached via bluetooth (if that's possible), and on the big screen? I think that might be pushing the phone a bit hard, but I also know the S2 was fully capable of running 3D games at a decent frame rate for at least single player. Obviously, we have a dual core processor, and that won't work as well as the international quad core.
2. What is the best controller to get (without spending an arm and a leg)? I don't want to spend $50 on a controller, because that'll be $200 for me to just play multiplayer with 3 friends. I've heard Phonejoy is decent ( phonejoy.net ), but I've never heard of these guys before. It's also a bit pricey for my liking, but it's cheaper than most controllers, and looks awesome with the analog sticks. I'm not sure if Phonejoy is reliable or not.
3. Not as important, but do you know if Banjoy Tooie/Donkey Kont 64 run smoothly on the S3? I've heard a lot of people say no, or that it's glitchy. I'm hopeful the S3's better specs allow these games to run better!
4. Yeah, I've heard about the MHL annoyances with the GS3. What's the cheapest cable you guys can find? I refuse to spend $30 on a cable when I know I'll be able to get it under $10 (if not yet, then soon).
Sorry to burst your bubble but n64 emulator on this really is terrible. It runs super laggy, hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Dang, that's annoying. Thanks though. I saw many videos of N64 running smoothly on an S2, so I figured it would naturally run the same, or better, on an S3.

Remote desktop on the nexus 10?

Hey I may be getting a nexus 10 soon, and I was wondering what's possible when using remote desktop apps (like "Splahtop 2") on the nexus 10.
I'm guessing there would be some input lag, but how bad do you think it would be? On the advertisement, they were playing diablo 3, and streaming 1080p through the app so i'm hopeful.
Will it be fast enough to play pc games, watch video or use other applications? This is assuming i'm in the same house as the pc which I would be streaming from.
What do you guys think?

Yes, Splashtop 2 is fast enough for those uses. One fair warning is that the camera on some games is completely spastic when trying to control through Splashtop so not all games will be playable. Diablo 3 would probably work fine but I'm not sure why you would want to play that game.
I use Splashtop for remote server admin and it works great.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like it could be a really useful app then
Anyone tried playing games using splash top (I think splashtop 2 is supposed to be a lot faster)
And diablo 3 isn't too bad! ;p
Splashtop 2 won't be ideal for games with any kind of 3D camera (most MMORPG/RPGs, FPS's, etc.). Games like Dota 2, osu!, WarCraft III, Diablo III, and Torchlight II however should be fine
Also, Diablo III is meh, but I find it more enjoyable when I don't read why other people dislike it

Is there no way of getting it to use a mouse/keyboard properly, so it actually moves the cursor on the computer when the mouse is moved (so games with a 3d camera could be used)? Playing GW2 or DOTA or something would be awesome.

Not entirely sure. I have a drawing tablet for my PC, and I noticed it does the same thing in games with 3d cameras (i'll either look straight up or down and just spin around with any kind of movement).
The mouse control on Splashtop 2 doesn't seem to be absolute, but that doesn't really explain why cameras act that way still :/
As for an alternative to Splashtop 2, some other user on these forums mentioned "Kainy". Doesn't seem to be working great at all for me, but it's only $3, and can apparently be used anywhere (LAN or WAN) with no additional cost. And it claims games can go up to 60 FPS (Splashtop 2 is only 30 FPS, and 2 competitor apps can apparently only do 5 and 10 FPS lol).

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think the mouse is probably just an "indication" of where your finger is about to press, and not a proper mouse, if you get what I mean.
So if you've tried gw2, what's the frame rate like? How much input lag is there?

I wonder if an xbox 360 controller would work when connected through usb... Doubt it though.
I suppose one alternative is a wireless mouse/keyboard connected to my actual laptop and then moved next to the nexus.
And thanks, I'll have a look at that other one. Doubt my laptop can play most games at 60fps anyway though
