Hi to All,
After some search, i cound't find a solution to the following problem.
With jelly bean, the management of the external/internal sd card is at least tricky. I would like to install my apps by default on the (larger) external sd card, but without rooting my phone (not to loose orange cinema series, an app from orange france that doesn't work if the telephone is rooted).
I tried various possibilities without success, but i think that the right direction could be swapping the internal and external sd card by using adb or similar. Anybody has a good suggestion? anybody that succeeded?
Best,
Piero
Why would you "not" root your phone?
Well, anyway.. have you tried app2sd in the market? I dunno if you need to be rooted to use it

Not ALL app are moveable to sd card. Only one that support it. You need root for forcing app to instal sd card but yoy dont need root to move supported app.

Doesn't rooting voids the warranty ?

I guys
I have a strange problem with my Neo (2.3.3 Portuguese tmn rom)
When i connect the phone to usb the icons of the apps that are installed on the Memory card vanish form the apps menu.
They don't come back ever... only if i move them to the phone and them to the SD again.
Please help
Thank you
its normal for them to vanish wen you using SD in phone on PC as removable drive but they should came back after you disconnect phone from PC. Tray all that apps remove to SD with all2sd or similar app. Maybe the app you using to move your apps to SD is incorrect.
Thanks for reply.
I use the android to move apps to the SD.
Tray with app2sd is free on market I using it and I don't have any problems with apps on SD. Please post back did that solve your problem.
Already have try that its the same
what type of connectivity you use on phone USB mass storage or media transfer. I using media transfer, maybe is something wrong in firmware you using.
I have tested the two types of connectivity with the same result.
if you have other SD Card tray put that one in, to test is the problem in card or phone him self. If is in phone tray flash other firmware.
Or maybe wait until the 2.3.4 be available to me
2.3.4. is already available you can use WotanClient to flash it. But rooting is lite harder.
im avoiding root.
But if i have no choise....
Then use wotanclient to flash new 2.3.4, just sing in on thers site and download program, while is still free.

The tablet doesnt let you move all apps like a custom rom does. Some app can be move while some dont. Rooting will not help with the app2sd problem

so the problem is she has only loaded like 3apps but the rest is OTB apps and it tells her she is out of storage
Isit the android market?

There's a free app in the Market called DroidSail App2SD Root that allows many more apps to be moved to the SD card. I have it on my phone as well as all of the tablets I've rooted.
I was using DroidSail and then I updated to ICS 4.0.3.
Now it tells me I need root access and enable USB debugging which I already have.
Does DroidSail support ICS? It says it does in the new update, but I tried it and keeps spitting out that message.
That is very strange indeed.

You can do a factory reset and then root!

Hello,
If you like someone to help you, you must provide clear description of your problem - just precisely describe step by step what you did using understandable English.
For example what does it mean?:
"transferred my sd card" - what card (internal, external) what transfered? All data? or maybe you took out your external card and put to friends phone???
"put a zip" - what zip? containing what?
"my friends app don't work" - what app? etc etc
I think, noone yet answered you because the others are cofused as much as I am. So decribe it better + provide information on what rom/kernal you are, then we will see how to help.
Regards
I had a boot loop problem, cause I changed the boot logo. so I used my friends ext SD card to flash the stock boot logo. my friend had apps on the ext SD card and when he put his card back in his phone some apps mostly games were there but its icon was replaced with a gray icon that said 'SD' and when I launch it it says application not installed. wierd because when I go to manage applications it appears. and thx for the reply

Unfortunately I think that it concerns apps which were installed (moved) to external SD card and after removing SD card from the phone, data on the card could have been broken/corrupted, so that after putting the card back to the phone apps can't be recognized.
I'm not big optimist but you can try:
- move apps back from external sd to internal one (probably not possible)
- Back up the apps - if they are visible by eg. TitaniumBackup
- Unmount, mount again external sd card and reboot the phone
Regards
tried and didn't work. thx anyways m8

It's true, the files have become corrupt. All you can do is uninstall them, and re install.

I have the Jedi X v12 mod and im also trying to moves apps to sd I tried the following this dudes instruction from galaxynote2root
Basically he used a method by running a script manager but it doesnt work.
I could be using the wrong script i just dont know!
I failed CIS otherwise i would make my own script!
I'm having the same problem. I had to reset the phone from download vrall4 with one click unlock and root. I then ran beans rom 11 which is what I had on the phone previously.
However, now I can't access the external sd card in twrp.
I've tried the script method mentioned in the in the OP but no dice for me either.
Update--
My problem was a dead sd card.
