[Q] Change kernel name - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I have question how to change kernel name.
I don't want to say why I need to change
Really not for rom or somethight like but i need to my phone be like not rooted.

If you're about to send the phone to Samsung, changing the kernel's name won't help.

No, not for samsung :|

[Q] Wich rom and kernel for the S2?

Hello guys,
I own a samsung galaxy s2 right now and i got the following installed on it:
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9200XXKI3
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKI3-CL577579 [email protected] #Supercore 2.0
Build: DarkyROM2 XXKI3 Base
Now i wonder wich is the best one i could use for the S2? I see so many roms and kernels.
Another thing in this version they changed the camara and on my idea its slower and darker. Where can i get a better one or the default camara.
Sincerely thanks

ROM is a matter of taste. There is no "Best ROM ever". There is only "Best ROM that suits my taste".
You want some of the (GOOD) samsung features on a custom ROM that is fast? (like h/w accelerated browser, cam app). Try GingerMOD Vanilla
You want pure aosp rom with minimal (really minimal) apps that is fast?
Try Oxygen ROM.
You want freshness, and innovation?
Try CyanogenMod 7
Still lotsa players out there like Cognition, Villain, Galnet, etc etc,
Try them all and see which one is best for u!

[Q] Stock Kernel and OpenVPN

Just finished rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2 by following the directions I found in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627#post18576627
Now I would like to get OpenVPN working on my phone, hoping to keep a stock kernel if possible. Or am I going to need to compile my own kernel to get the tun/tap.ko module working since this isn't enable by default. Any other recommendations are welcomed.
Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I777
Android version: 2.34
Kernel version 2.6.35.7

[Q] drop down menu animation?

Hello everyone
Basically I was wondering if it is possible to add an animation to the drop down menu? I searched a bit for this and found a few guides but for different phone models so my other question is as long as its for android could I still follow those guides and get a result?
P.S I just about managed to work out how to root and then add a custom rom to my phone by following the instructions exactly so please don't be too techy
I have a Samsung Galaxy S 2 (GT-I9100)
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9100XXLPS
Kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100XXLPS-CL294511 [email protected] #3
Build number: Lite’ning ROM v2.7
I'm not exactly sure about animation but yes u can add some cool custom icons and logos by flashing a theme from the theme section in the forum.but let me tell u something all these things are battery hungry.so u should install them only if u don't care about ur battery much

[Q] Need information about installing the new ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this Forum so please pardon if i'm not following any rules and mistakenly posted the thread in the wrong location.
I had installed Clockworkmod Recovery from "theandroidsoul"
Then I have Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Recently i have installed a custom ROM on it provided by JellyBam ROM 20121023 – i9100 (courtesy: igio90.)
It has upgraded my phone to:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband: I9100DDLP8
Kernel Version:[email protected]
AOKP Version: JellyBam.AOKP.Build5
Build number: JellyBam AOKP 20121023
I have found it to be unstable as there were many functionality that have been lost including FM, 5.1 surround sound, MTP and mass storage connection, etc.
I would like to remove the ROM completely and install another of ROM
Please suggest me the following:
1. can i go back to ICS 4.0.1 by removing this rom and instaliling ICS from odin? what would be a recommended procedure for it?
2. Will i BRIK my phone in this process?
3. Can i install any other version of Jelly bean custom rom using ODIN, what would be a recommended procedure for it?
Guys i need your help ASAP as i cannot stay with this unstable ROM for long. any help is hugely appreciated.

from what i can see you need a stable custom ROM with nice Features, i recommend you Cyanogen Mod 10 Jelly Bean... i Have it on my XPERIA ARC S and it works perfectly with no detected bugs, only one thing that i dont care about is that no more HDMI setting... the prcedure is quit easy and if you got stuck you can go back and ask for help, i dont think you can brick your phone if you follow steps and make a minor mistake.. if you would like to try, i can help you in everything, and please hit "THANKS" if i helped
