Hi,
I have hard times to decide which ROM should I run. Both are great and amazing. So I need some help from both CM and Paranoid users.
What I look forward are: A better battery life and fast-stable operating.
Thanks in advance!
You're posting to wrong section.
But I prefer CyanogenMod

Paranoid Android has more UI choices from normal to hybrid. Really good and stable ROM. Cyanogen will are the main source. You have any problems its them that fix it not Paranoid. I'm on Cyanogen now. Was on Paranoid and enjoyed it. I'd rather stability than anything else.
Please read the rules about posting in the correct sections.

This one I did not closed because the OP is asking about a comparison between two specific roms not asking a general "which rom is best". I feel this thread is ok and tolerable. lol
only thing i dont like about cyanogen is that you cant have a brightness slider, i use paranoid but a recommendation i could make is install the latest siyah kernel then run one as a first rom and the other as second rom and give them both a try i do it for omega stock touchwiz and pa very useful :3

How do you mean by "run as first rom and the other as second"?
He means dual boot, see siyah kernel thread. But quite odd to dual boot with two non Sammy (or 2 Sammy) roms
More logical to use paranoid as it's cm based with more features.
Newb question here:
But, what's the difference between CM10 and Paranoid Android?
Since Paranoid Android is built on CM10 - wont it just have a few extra features? (Hybrid mode looks cool imo.)

Don't you think hybrid is a big difference ? Just flash and compare, no one will be able to choose for you. Ten minutes work, restore is easy with nandroid, you could even try without data wipe as it's same base. But CM10 bugs ==> Paranoid.
I look at the voting poll and it's pretty close. Right now I'm running CM10. I must to say that the battery life rocks. The only thing that I don't like that much is the Contacts feature, a lot of stuffs are missing. Ow and also I can't find Power Saving mode in Settings?

The latest Syiah Kernel allows you to dual boot your phone. So you can have two different roms installed.
I use CM10 because it has faster/more frequent updates. (Usually every night hence "nightly") (could be a good or bad thing though... I feel like I have to flash something on my phone every day. Flashing is sooo addicting lol.)
PA is based on CM10 and will have to wait for CM10 to release its update before it too updates. The PA team is also quick to update when it happens though.
But PA has added features to CM10 that some people may or may not like. Hybrid mode and enabling/disabling hard/soft keys are one of top features that comes to mind.
Dude, first of all.. you CAN'T let other people decide on what you "want"
You just have to try it for yourself..

I'm trying out right now the CM10. Very awesome! I will give a try to PA also.
Just wanted to know which was more stable ..
This is a little off the Paranoid and CM10 but what I tried was this...
Downloaded Omega v29 & Omega v2.0 and dropped into SD Card,
Formatted my Internal Memory, (like completely formatted),
Flashed Omega v29, once done, set it up, and there is S Teaks in the App Drawer, open it up and go across to Dualboot and click the ''Reboot into 2ndROM Utils''
Down the bottom there is dual-boot options, go into that, Format 2md Rom system, Wipe 2nd Rom data/cache and wipe dalvik-cache, and fix permissions, then install zip to from External SD (where you put the omega v2.0 file, and flash that. And the rest is as is comes.
It will reboot and you have a choice to click the home button to go to your 2nd rom or click anything else to go to 1st Rom.
Worth it, due to both those Omegas are different UI, I got Omega v29 for Gaming and 2.0 for sexy show off looks.
i used PA before im on CM10.1 based rom,
PA - i like the phablet mode etc but it has no statusbar transparency
CM - i love the speed, themes and the softbutton below its like a built in. battery and performance are great.
i dont know which is better since i used the same kernel with that 2 cusrom marmite kernel

Try Resurrection remix 2.6.1. Based on ICS and stable as a rock. I'm pretty new myself and been using it for a while.Easy to install and no issues whatsoever. :good:
First of all, are you sure you have an i9100 and not an i9100G, a skyrocket (AT&T or Rogers), a Galaxy S2 LTE HD, etc?
If you do have an i9100, this is the forum for you. If not, try and find your right forum...
I'd look in the SGS2 android dev forums and not the Original Android Dev forums. Alot of cooks have ROMs with SGS3-like themes... And there's possibly a touchwiz5 mod in the themes section. I know the ripple lockscreen was ported too...
To be honest, alot of ROMs exist but it's a question of taste... I know Resurrection remix is a popular one. Alot of people switched to Cyanogenmod when ICS hit though, as ICS wasn't up to par for Samsung's implementation...
Your best bet is to flash a custom kernel with CWM recovery in Odin (Alot of guides to do this) like CF-Root and then grab ROMs and flash them through CWM. If you want a kernel that's able to dual boot, you can use DreamKernel, Siyah, etc. That way you can get one ROM going and test a second ROM as a secondary. Dual booting can be achieved because we have a 500MB partition on our phones that isn't used for anything... Fun, is it not?
And The other rom is pfittech ics rom and is also stable and he is working on stable jb rom as among other devs

I'd go with rootbox. Just because the dev updates more frequently does not mean it's a better rom. The ones who don't update frequently just mean they don't have bugs to fix...

I thinked CM but it's currently oj nightlyes builds and has a lot of entendible bugs.. f4k mod didn't lime me, i hear omega.. but what is the more "stable", "quicker," mod possible? My idea is install a good mod and install tons of apps and games with no problems.. thanks in advance and please sory my english i'm argentinian.. .
Omega 100% stable and the developer indie doesn't stop. Always updated to the latest firmware. Also a lot of theme support on the thread. Check out motomoto theme its a beauty.

eclair, froyo, ics, etc are versions.
cm, darky, criskelo, omega are all roms that are modded. mods on the other hand are specific changes that do not include the whole rom with it. it depends on having a rom as a base to install onto.
stuff like removing charging notifications or add camera functionality are mods. the ability to add any app to multi Window is a mod, but cm, darky, omega etc are ROMs. they're completely independant and does not require a flashing of another rom as a base.
and yes, you are asking for what the best rom is. the fact is, you'll have to just try different roms and see which one suites your need. check the all in one sticky thread for a link to another thread that categorizes roms based on what concept of android they're going for (stock, aosp, aokp, sense, etc etc).
all of these roms are very well documented and they explain what their rom was built for.

Hello,
I just joined XDA im on this forum for a week now and i kind off like it. I decided to root my phone because i want more battery life and AOSP like phone.
I have an International Samsung Gakaxy S3 i9300 with CM 6 recovery.
Rooted ofc
I searched all week for a rom but just couldnt find one for my needs.
So can you help my guys by finding a good rom and kernel for me? and im on the base version i9300DXELK1.
What i need:
AOSP Look rom, like the nexus phones.
Best battery life possible
Customize my rom (doesnt have to be in the rom, its cool to download a ZIP theme and flash it (the rom needs support. I tryd with foxhound but the foxhound options were missing with a theme it was the JKAY theme, I just want to have a high theme choise, and diffrent icons you know.)
Able to install mods etc.
AOSP Apps, like camera dailer, messaging, etc etc.
AOSP Lockscreen (Not the 4.2 widget one)
What i like to have:
4.2 Sphere camera.
4.1 Toggles on notification bar.
Able to mod my rom.
DPI Changer (dont need just like to have).
I am also looking for a good kernel that even more gives me more battery life. Im running siyah, im asking this because maybe theres a better battery life kernel then siyah
Thanks for reading

try foxhound.although it is jb 4.1.2 you can install swipe keyboard and photosphere camera on foxhound ota.
Foxhound isnt themeable:S And i prefer 4,1 jb im trying slim bean now i kinda like it, but i dont like the launcher because its not the standart launcher.
But final qeustion is there a CM or AOKP 4.1 what is stable (No bugs or almost no bugs) I only see nightlys of it. I think stock cm is best for me isnt it?
Yeah im kinda a critic xd. sorry
i recently started installing custom roms also, i tried cyanogen mod 10 which i found to be ok but a bit of a rough feel. then i tried ultima rom and to be honest its brilliant. if all else fails google

Its like comparing chips and a mouse. AOKP/AOKP will defaultly be faster because there is less in the actual ROM and default Stock OS has everything the software/phone manufacturer could cram into it eg: Samsung
Your best bet is to go with a stock ROM that is either stripped or one that you can choose the applications you want with it eg: Sotmax... or maybe even a hybrid ROM...
Hope this helps, and please correct me if i have said something wrongly anywhere:good::fingers-crossed::good::laugh:

I don't use CM, so I don't have any experience with what builds may be more stable. I know that Lanchon has done some CM kernel work recently, and perhaps the shift kernel is up to par, but I haven't tried any of them. I don't run CM.

What am I running? SlimLP. (<-- NOT bug-free)
Which do I recommend? This is a loaded question, which has no clear answer.
It's all about personal preference. Different firmwares will bring you different experiences with battery-life, features, tweakability and so-on. I like the minimal/lightweight approach, and so am a huge fan of slimroms firmwares.
If you want something close to stock, but debloated and fast, then I suggest trying cooked or ShoStock.
All of the 5.x firmwares for the s2 have the outgoing call bug, so I wouldn't consider any of them "bug free"
All of the 4.4.4 firmwares are pretty good (SlimKat for the win) and are very reliable.
Other users may have other recommendations, but you'll have to try them for yourself to know for sure what you like, and what you don't.
Happy flashing,

thanks. One more question and sorry for that ı'm asking too much...
What're think about overclocked stock rom? I'm using 1.4 Ghz overclocked really stable stock rom. I cleaned all At&t apps.
I don't have any experience overclocking.
My impression is that it's best use is to get the device to perform better at cpu-intense actions, and I use my devices primarily for email, texting, music playing, or other simple utility apps -nothing that benefits from over-clocking.
My favorite stock experience was using ShoStock (with the suggested Jeboo kernel). Clean, fast, & reliable.

You can always use Titanium Backup Pro (or an equivalent), and freeze 'Cell Broadcast'.
Overcloclocking SlimLP - i777
Really love this ROM, nice work. Completely renewed my S2. However, the S2 is showing it's age and feels a bit slow with some apps.
Is anybody overclocking their S2? How would I go about doing that? What kernels would work with this ROM?

Hi all,
I am currently running SlimKat 4.4.4 and would like to try this ROM. Thanks a lot for the amazing work put into this!
I read somewhere that a higher version of recovery is needed to flash LP roms. Do I have to get CWM Recovery v6.0.4.3 (or higher) first or can I flash directly from TWRP v2.7.1.0?

Hi all,
I want to ask if its only me or its an known issue.
On LP I started to suffer from memory lack. All apps are being installed on to internal memory though I have a working SD card (both internal and external).
I have to move istalled apps to internal SD tofree up some space but this is not much help.
For example I cant isntall big games that have to download additional cash (Jurasic park for example) because I dont have enough space.
Is therу any way to install apps to the SD card at once?
