I NEED HELP! Want to go back to stock. - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I just got this evo 4g lte the other day in a really good trade (straight from an 8gb iPhone 4, I know right!) Anyway the phone had a codename android rom on it (CM10 based) and I wanted to flash it back to something close to stock as my intension was to sell the phone since i don't have sprint. So the first thing i did was go into TWRP 2.2.1 and factory reset. I then installed Mean ROM ICS. When i rebooted the phone would not pull past the boot animation for the rom. I tried flashing a couple other roms with no success and last one i flashed was mean rom again. I also tried to use the 2.13 RUU to get back to stock but it wont work because i can't boot in to android . Next i had the bright idea that if the phone was relocked that it would start the RUU for the bootloader that i can still access. Well guess what, that didnt work! (duh)
As of now, the phone has a relocked bootloader (I know how to unlock again if i need to), is S-ON and using HBOOT 1.19. I would just really like to flash it back to stock but i am now very frustrated and lost and i am supposed to sell the phone to someone for $275 today.
Any help is much appreciated!

When you flash the Rom you flash the kernel separate since your S-on. Follow the directions on how to flash in the OP for the Rom and you'll be good to go

[Q] Need help to return to stock..

So I held out for months to unlock my phone and decided to do so last night via HTC unlock method. All went well, unlocked, rooted and ended up flashing Myn's twopointthree. After all that trouble decided I don't care to do the whole rom thing and invest time into hacking my phones anymore.
I have tried everything to my knowledge to at least get back to stock (regardless if it is still unlocked) and no luck. I have tried running the RUU which fails (probably has to do with custom recovery), PG86IMG zips through recovery and bootloader which fails and also tried flashing stock recovery and running RUU and still no luck.
In my EVO days I had no troubles doing whatever I wanted with rooting and unrooting and everything in between because if I decided to return to stock I would run the PG36IMG zip and thats all it took.
Does anyone have any input on getting back to stock rom or do I have to use a Rooted Stock from xHausX or something equivelent?
Anything and everything is appreciated!

No details are mentioned with why RUU fails or why PG86IMG.zip fails. Both of these processes should provide some type of error.
Regardless, running an RUU through the .exe or flashing the signed PG86IMG.zip file should return all the partitions on the device to a stock state, minus perhaps the unlocked bootloader.

HTC EVO 3D Rogers OTA Update On Rooted Phone?

Hello everybody
The new ICS update for the ROGERS EVO 3D just came out yesterday, so I restored my phone to the original firmware (via restoring the backup I did in the recovery) and then proceeded to download the OTA update. After it finished, the phone rebooted into the recovery (i have 4-ext touch recovery) and started installing. After it finished, the phone rebooted and then got stuck on the white HTC screen. I managed to enter the recovery again and restore the original firmware again. What is that I'm doing wrong here? Here is some helpful info:
Rogers EVO 3D, GSM version
Unlocked bootloader (HTCDEV method), S-ON
carrier unlocked
HBOOT 1.49.0008
OS is rooted
I'm in the same boat but I'm not able to do a recovery. I went through the update process and when the phone rebooted it got stuck on the white htc screen. I can get it into the bootloader menu but when i choose recovery it starts but then i get an error with a pic of the device and the red yield sign. If i choose factory reset it just gets stuck at the white htc. I read some other posts and I saw that having an unlocked bootloader may cause issues with updates so that may be your issue as for me, I'm not sure what I can do. I may just need the actual update file to redo the update but I'm not sure where to find it.
Same here, but I don't get half way through the ota update before I see the red triangle and exclamation mark. Phone will boot into stock recovery (which I would assume you need instead of modded recovery) and the update starts, but doesn't complete. I pull the battery and the phone boots up normally. Just can't seem to get through the update. Could be something to do with being s-off I would guess.

Same problem but whit s-off
I have been predicting that this would happen... ICS failures with non-standard HBOOTs. Good luck.
Probably will have to wait for an RUU or custom.
I'd recommend using the GB ruu to get you back to full stock. Always found Rogers ota updates (possibly all carriers?) won't install if you're rooted or using a custom recovery.
I had to install the ruu via renaming the rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and copying it to the sd card so that the bootloader would auto flash it. Running the ruu exe tossed up all kinds of errors.
It will put everything back to Rogers stock. After that just setup wifi and do the 2 Rogers OTA updates.
Once in ICS, it's easy peasy to get recovery and root back.
Also, for what it's worth, Go Backup is awesome for going rom to rom and not needing a full backup. Use it on rooted rom, then use it to restore after rooting new rom. Will do all your apk's and everything.
1st post here after years of lurking. Yay.

Alright thanks a lot
Just an update on what I did. I was able to reload the stock gb rom for rogers using the exe file, then I went through the 2 updates that came up when checking and ics is now up and running on my phone. However in my attempts of trying to fix the original problem, I managed to re-lock my bootloader before flashing to stock rom and I had s-on the whole time. hope this help.
i switched to stock like.. a week back?
jus got ota on 4th
i WAS rooted and using juopunutbear's hboot *u can jus get the hboot from their website*
so i jus flashed back stock recovery.. and updated.. and success.. lost root though.. and i was back to stock bootloader..
used the PG86IMG with juopunutbear's bootloader and 4ext recovery.. and flashed cwm supersu.. v0.91 i think.. i dunno.. latest one.. and bam.. im on stock.. rooted.. and works perfectly..
Possible sollution
Maybe try flashing one of the customized ROMs that are based on the latest OTA update. I'm sure Anryl's newest rom is blazing-fast and stable. You can find it in the gsm android development forum and flash it via recovery. Make sure you have the latest 4ext recovery installed, though.
where can a i find that stock rogers rom i modified mine and that might be the reason i get a security failure in hboot. s is on. when i run the ruu file in windows to downgrade i get error 155. when i run the the update from about phone. it locks up with blue android guy and yellow exclamation mark. i remove the battery and she boots fine with no changes.
I am trying to do same. Get stuck on HTC screen. I have S-ON. Was on cobra 2.4 prior.
If anyone can give details on how to fix it, it would be great! Please no saying "install exe". I need to know which exe etc.
just wanted to tell everyone that in order for the ota update to work properly, you need to be running stock unrooted firmware with a locked bootloader. Just relock your bootloader, reinstall the stock firmware, upgrade to ics via ota, then re-unlock and re-root.
Hi
I have a HTC EVO 3D from Rogers that was got messed up during changing networks... rooted the phone for no apparent reason... to now get a update for it for ics from the provider and it bricked the phone.
It's stuck at HTC boot screen, can get fastboot USB from bootloader. recovery gets a ! in a triangle and factory reset doesn't work, freezes at splash screen after restarting the phone. Was stupid not making a backup or searching for programs to back it up before I went ahead and clicked update
It has HTC boot-loader 1.49 s-on but is rooted.
I am looking for clear(fix my evo for dummies) step by step instructions with correct installation for my model of phone, HTC EVO 3D Rogers GSM, or anything that could replace the os to get my phone to be useful again I'm currently using my backup phone a HTC G1 HTC ftw
Try kingcobra's rom, ota from rogers will not boot due to the fact that your phone is rooted, kingcobra's rom is based on rogers ota, flash it and leave it.

Go to the gsm development forum and download the RUU for the phone, and restore it to stock unrooted OS. Before you do that though, make sure that your phone's BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED. Look up how to re-lock your bootloader. After you relock your bootloader, you can proceed with restoring the phone.
Soooo.... basically, what I'm getting from this is, if you like having a locked bootloader, CWM and root, don't bother trying to install this OTA update because it's a headache. Agree?
The phone's not mine, it's my wife's, and she doesn't want anything special or like the idea of me messing around in her phone.
I was about to install this late last night, just about to hit that button, then I thought, "what about the bootloader? what about root? what about the fact that it's now unlocked and being used on a carrier other than Rogers?"

[Q] Rezound Boot Loop Can't Flash to Stock

Hello all, I am new to these forums so I apologize in advance for possibly sounding a bit uninformed.
I got a Rezound from a friend that was never unlocked or rooted that was stuck in a boot loop. I tried everything to bring it back to life with no luck. I flashed the stock RUU, I unlocked via HTC Dev and flashed Amon ra 3.15 recovery. No matter what I did, It would just boot up to the HTC white screen and shut down and repeat over and over.
I decided to put a custom ROM on it to see if that would work. I flashed Scott's Clean ROM from recovery along with his PH98IMG.zip file as instructed to do and the phone came to life. I am currently running the Clean Rom which is ICS 4.0.3 which happens to be the same android version as stock.
What I am wondering is, If I can somehow get this phone back to stock? The RUU didn't work the first 20 times I tried it and it probably won't work now. Is it possible to flash the stock ROM through recovery? Is RUU the only way to go? Do I need to use stock recovery to load stock ROM? If anyone knows how I can get this phone to stock, I would appreciate it. It is strange how it works on custom ROM but not on stock.

[Q] *Help* Thunderbolt Stuck at HTC splash screen

Me and my friend have been trying to root his HTC Thunderbolt and we thought everything was going pretty smoothly. We found one of the versions of the Liquid ICS and moved that to his SD card and we unlocked the bootloader using the HTC dev site and everything was working just fine. We even got to the point where we could flash CWM onto the device and even that seemed to go smoothly. But after we flashed clockwork onto the phone we were only able to get to recovery. Anytime we try to boot into the rom that we installed it just sits on the white HTC screen. We've wiped data, dalvik and cache, which is a common cause for bootlooping and common errors as such. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, my friend is concerned about not having a phone and is actually considering purchasing a phone for retail price off of amazon, and I really think thats a waist considering this phone isn't bricked, and I think the geniuses here at XDA can definitely help us out of this pickle. Thanks in advanced - Randy

Your first problem is that you used HTC dev. You need to relock the bootloader and use the allinone tool to unlock get root and s off. The problem is that liquid ice has a custom kernel and you can't flash those with a locked bootloader.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
Could you link me to a thread on how to do that without getting your computer to recognize the phone? Because as is, the phone can't be recognized seeing as it won't boot and its either stuck at a white screen, on HTC's boot loader *which is unlocked*, or clockwork recovery mod.
Before you setup your phone you need to fast boot flash a stock ruu. You should have made a nand in cwm before you ever attempted to flash a rom. If you did you wouldn't have this problem right now. You could just restore that backup in recovery and you would be rooted stock. Then you could follow the relock procedure and use the allinone tool to unlock and get s off.

Well that would be where we screwed up. we never made the nandroid back up and we kept trying to flash the RUU onto the phone via HBOOT but that doesn't work either. It says that is radio version 1.49.etc. inside of the bootloader.
You will need to give me more info about your radios. What baseband are you running?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Alright so I dropped it off with my good friend Ryan and he was able to manually flash the RUU onto the phone and got it to boot stock. So we are done with our phone adventures for a little while. Thanks for offering to help, but we got it all solved
Now that you're root stock you can relock and then use the all in one tool.

[Q] Flashed without making backup of my DNA

I am S-Off, unlocked and rooted as off yesterday via moonshine (windows version) and got excited last night and flashed a rom using clockwork mod recovery WITHOUT making a backup first (got excited about flashing and ignorantly forgot to backup.) My phone works but i like having my phone as close to stock, except for s-off, unlocked and rooted. I was wondering if there is a .zip or something i can use to get back to stock DNA? I seen a stock ROM to flash but the radio wont flash with it without locking the phone back and i was hoping to get by without locking it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you like stock, why did you flash a new ROM? Anyway, check out the Android Development or Original Android Development forums, they should have a stock rom posted. If not, ask around. I'm sure someone has a backup they can post.
There are stock rooted ROMs in the Dev forum
