[Q] Red light constantly on - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
My wife has an international SGS3 and the other day she let it fully discharge. After charging up completely the notification light is constantly on with a red color. No matter what we do, it's always on and sometimes it gets mixed with other colors. I've rooted the phone and gone into CWM and the light is still on, so this is not software/kernel/rom related. I tried resetting the battery stats but no luck.
Can someone help me ? I think that somehow the battery got into a charging state and, even after being fully loaded, it still reports as being charged.

HD2 charging issue

So I thought I'd calibrate my battery today... I completely drained it, powered it up like 10 times so it had no battery left. Then I took out the battery for one minute, inserted right back and plugged the phone to the wall charger. It has been charging for about 5 hours(I think more) and still the led hasn't turned green
When I touch the back of the phone it's warm so that means it's charging still... Is this normal when calibrating the battery or should I try starting it to check the battery condition and forget about calibrating? Thanks in advance.
edit: ok, I unplugged the charger cuz I have to go out... and the red led was still going... no wonder :/ So remove/reisnert battery, boot up android from nand. Battery 99% already I guess this calibration has pretty much failed right?
So no one knows anything about this? I tried to calibrate again last night... The red led again got stuck. What could be the cause of this? I reflashed radio recently so I don't think that's it.
Does anyone has any advice? I will try charging with power on, see if it will fully charge and if green led will turn on. And then again with power off without letting the battery be drained completely and see what happens. I hope nothing's wrong cuz I'd hate to have to return it
I also would like to know this.

Tried this aswell n the phone was on 99%. the voltage was also wrong when its 100% (4197, i beleive its ment to be around 42xx or 43xx). Tried deleting batterystat.bin from system but not sure i followed the right procedure after that (take bat out, charge, deplete, charge). a dedicated thread for this would be nice.
Did you try leaving the phone off and leaving it on charge until the LED changed to green. u may have to leave it over night. 15+ hours. Not sure if this works.
I tried it. The thing is the led wont turn green. When the phone is off and charging the led wont ever turn green and when I pull the cable out the red led doesn't turn off. It get stuck until I remove hte battery.
However when the phone is on and charging the led WILL turn green. I'm getting crazy over this. Can sb plz heeeeeelp?

You wont be able to do a calibration in NAND Android, which i'm guessing you are using, because i have the same problem.
The only way to properly charge the battery and get the green light is to wake up the device, plug the charger while the screen is on and leave it charging.
I got 50 hours +10% out of moderate use with one full charge - phone on, and i am happy. Same as WinMo ROM.
I haven't seen a solution for this one yet, but i hope someone is working on it.
oh, thanks so much for clearing this up. Yes I have nand android too. I'm not complaining about battery life, it's very good. I just did the battery calibration out of curiosity and bumped into this issue. Glad it's not hardware or battery related and I hope someone fixes it eventually.

[Q] Not charging and led flashing red.

Hey...
My Mozart seems to have stopped working. The battery run out this morning when I was in university and ive just got home and plugged it in to find that the red led is flashing up the top! Its flashes for a while and HTC comes onto the screen, it then shows an image of a battery on the screen then nothing, no lights, no charging, no booting.
Help!
i see well that happened to me, you seem to have drained the battery. the best solution is..
keep it charged for a while..
if it does not work.. remove the battery for a while then bring it back and charge again,
just let it charge until the battery regains enough power to boot the phone.
never let the battery fully down /!\
the smartphone Have to be charged before the battery nearly 30% otherwise u Will deteriorate the lifetime of u'r battery
Hi, I would like to know if the problem was the battery or hardware related? I am having this same problem and Im about to go to the phone shop to get this looked at... after being on the phone to someone who speaks the worst broken english for 20 minutes!
Thanks.

SGS II Acting Odd!

Hey guys, hope some one can help me.
Firstly, this all started a week after I installed the MIUI ROM. I started noticing that when my battery was fully charged the screen would start flickering unless I took the charger off, other symptoms included loss of battery life and continuous green fully charged notification on the top left corner asking me to remove charger, and even when that's done, the notification wouldn't disappear.
I then flashed a stock ROM hoping that might fix things, but it didn't. When turning the device on, I also get a recharging battery icon that blinks with a drained battery icon and a yellow exclamation sign with a thermometer. Check video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_SXjEw2wyU
As for the screen flickering when fully charged issue, I stopped using the included Samsung charger and used one my Atrix chargers to see if I get the same flickering, oddly enough I didn't. So it would seem the Samsung charger is to blame.
It's really annoying me now, I get about a 4 and half hours a day before the phone completely dies on me, and that's without even using the device. If I get to work at 7am, the battery will be dead by 11:30am.
I noticed others have had similar problems although not the same, and this hasn't been addressed before, here's links to users with similar problems:

If someone could help, I would be grateful, thanks

[Q] 100% battery full but doesn't turn green

my nook tablet is now 100% fully charging. but it doesn't turn green.
it says "100% - Full" but the charger's light still orange (yellow maybe)
while it was charging, i had some problems so i tried to reboot it, do a factory reset,....
is this the reason? and for what i did while it was charging -> will it harm my battery?
can i unplug the charger now?
this is the 2nd time i charge, last time my brother unplugged it, i don't know was it green or not, but it probably was, because that was night, he was sleeping, the only way he knew it was full is the green light (i think)
i think i can unplug, next time i will leave it charge normally to see what happen?
From what I encountered, some cables don't turn green when the device is on because it constantly discharges (especially if you have wifi on, not sleeping, or brightness up) It's the same with my cable, sometimes it turns green and sometimes it doesn't, but overall I don't think it made a difference.
Plugging in your nook while factory reseting would not harm your batteries. I'm not sure if your problems you described in this thread is related to the ones in the other threads you created. I'm assuming so.
I don't think you should worry about the color. Mine is green all the time it is charging. When I first got it it was orange until full charge. Now I just turn on the screen and look at the battery widget.

Mido only works with battery disconnected

Since I changed the screen of my Mido, the red led is blinking when I try to charge, before that I unfortunately left the battery fully drain.
When I disconnected the battery and plugged the phone at the charger, I had the MI logo and was able to access the FastBoot. So I flashed the last official rom.
Now, with the phone plugged and the battery disconnected, I can successfully boot to system. Everything works normal, but the battery level indicates 50% of charge.
Sometimes the phone don't boot, and shows the big battery level at 50% and the green light and shows a constant green led, so i need to enter in recovery mode to boot the system again.
If I connect the battery with the system on, the battery level goes to zero and in a few seconds the phone turn off and the red led blinking returns.
Should I buy a new battery? Any other ideas to try?
Thx in adavnce!!
It is strange that everything happens when switching screens. Are the cables properly connected to the board? Any screw that makes a short? Any damaged cables?
My experience when changing a battery is as follows (I continue with the same in this example). I changed the betreia thinking that it would improve the life of the battery (the old one was inflated but it reached 100%) once I put the new one, the charge does not exceed 94%, even if I charge it. Something curious is that when you disconnect and connect the cable ... it charges automatically in seconds to 100%, it seems to be going well, right? no, since once removed from the electrical current the battery drops quite quickly to 71%, whatever the use you give it (games, social networks ...) there it stabilizes but still is not a good experience. It is not the rom as I have changed many roms (unofficial official, linegeos, pixel experience ...) and it remains the same (still need to test stock) (original battery).
With this I am not saying not to fix it by changing it but ... this can also happen to you.
I am still waiting for help me with that problem.
I hope your problem is solved soon.
Just to give the case a conclusion, I ordered a new battery and everithig is fine now!
Thx
