Why wait for the update when you can flash a stock ROM today?
It's really simple and no waiting for the useless company called Samsung

[q] help needed.....

Friends,
I have purchased a Samsung galaxy S II from Saudi Arabia with a proper Invoice and which has Android 4.0.3 . The issue is I stay in India and as soon as I landed in India and my phone was connected to the internet it displayed a pop up to Software update available to 4.0.4. I have not yet updated to 4.0.4 bcz in Kies its showing that my phone is having the latest firmware, when I checked with the mobile software engineers they told me that the phone can be locked on updation.
I wish to update to 4.0.4 can anyone please help me what should I do ? Should I update OTA & will the phone be locked on updation.
Thank you in advance.

4.0.4 has brick bug... batter stay on 4.0.3.
Be safe, don't update now, just wait!
Also, 4.0.4 got bug everywhere......

That doesnt matter unless he wipes data/factory reset via recovery. Also to solve that you simply flash custom kernel.
@ OP
Plenty of topic on here that cover updating roms, flashing new stocks, flashing customs etc. I suggest you start some reading.
Oh ok thanks a lot guys.....

[Q] Help required for Noob!!!!

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and new to android world.
I have purchased unlocked Optus Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100) from Australia and currenlty i am using it in India with Airtel. My mobile is installed with ICS 4.0.4.
I want Offical Jelly Bean firmware in my mobile.
Can i install Official Jelly Bean Rom released in SPAIN? Will it lock the the mobile after i install this ROM?
Or If i need to wait for Jellybean to realese in my region, Did i able to update Australian Version or Indian Version of Jellybean ROM or only the OPTUS version of ROM through Samsung Kies?
Please help me on this request.
Thanks,
Arun Panneerselvam
yes, you can install the jellybean from spain and no it will not lock your phone.
The choice is up to you. You try one of the custom roms on this site or wait for an official version through kies.
Updating kies may not happen this year because the roll out for jelly bean wil be uneven, no one knows what countries will get and when or if they will get jellybean at all.
Before installing you have to root your device,
then check and search on internet for your original rom (it could be useful if you need to send it to assistance in warranty)
If the phone is branded usually official updates came from carriers ,and often they need more time to release update after the unbranded is released since they want to put on it their customizations

What the devil are you talking about? You don't need to root in order to install the stock Samsung Jelly Bean firmware.

AFAIK the software update from samsung is for Jellybean v4.1.2.
Any OTA update will unroot ur phone for sure
PS- and do keep in mind not to create multiple threads for each of ur issue, rather update the same thread
