[Q] Help with Rooting I9100G - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there ...
I know there's a lot of rooting guides and help posts .. But you can say that I searched them all and I still could not root my I9100G
I tried Flashing a rooted kernel .. And all that happens is the phone getting stuck on (Samsung Galaxy S II i9100G) screen
I tried using OneClick ... The program gets not responding and shuts down .. The phone yet not rooted
I tried DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit ... All the operation gets "failure"
If someone can help me, please do
Here's my Phone info are in the Attachments

From my looks, it seems like you're running CyanogenMod.
But to root it, I used this guide, by Phil3579: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270

Okey, but rooting it with Phil's guide is, in my experience, the easiest way to root your phone.

the easiest way ( in my opinion ) is to find your baseband version and down load the corresponding cf root file on itratechs thread and flash it in the PDA section in odin

i am a complete newbie with android so flashing and all is not for me i just need root on my device so that i can install few of the application
As Wezza said, CFRoot is the easiest & most hassle-free root method for SGS2. Takes all of 2 minutes, very remote chance of stuffing your phone up so long as you follow the instructions. By your own admission, you're a 'complete newbie with Android', and IMHO, using a method other than CFRoot to root your phone is just making life unnecessarily complicated for yourself.
Just my (and obviously Wezza's) opinion tho.

Rooting(S2 Root method)

Hey guys, i have some questions ..
I' have "rooted' my Samsung Galaxy S2 Android( 4.0.3)
baseband: I9100XXLPW
and Kernel is XWLPD
with this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
I just followed all the steps did flash the insecure stock then runned s2 root and clicked Root Device.
It said that i have rooted succesfully. then it went rebooted. I checked if it was rooted by the root check app
but it says i don't have root?
Realy weird..
What should i do? i tried re-rooting
I think that S2 Root has some bugs.
I did have superuser too , it just didn't ask the permissions there's te problem i guess
1) Your link is busted.
2) Frankly, anyone with an I9100/T who doesn't use CFRoot to root their phone is making their life unnecessarily difficult/complicated. You might well be right about bugs in the method you tried. I personally don't know as I've never used it. I very much recommend you head over to the CFRoot thread, read the first page carefully (particularly the section with the heading in bold read that says 'Help ! Which file do I use ?'), if you can read/follow instructions you should be able to root your phone successfully/easily
Actually Codeworkx's CWM or siyah kernel will also do, just flash em with odin.
allright updated link,
I don't want use these methods because the method i do
has just a one click Root or Unroot option to make it as easy for me because i'm not good in these things. + i don't want cwm
I guess it's just a bug because everybody is replying the same. The developer should fix and update it.

Hi! I faced exactly the same issue while rooting my phone using S2root. This procedure was working for me when I was on Android 2.3.6 but was not working on Android 4.0.3.
I used the Chainfire method and then used Triangle away. I am now happy rooted.

Root/CWM Question

Hello there guys, I just rooted my Galaxy S2, after downloading Odin3, insecure kernel JPKJ2, as I also used Samsung quick root, everything seems ok, I didnt brick my phone, but the only prob is that I couldnt find CWM after the phone rebooted, the only app I found was SuperSU, did I skip something while rooting ? can you guys please suggest how I can fix this issue ?
Thank You.

Probably yes!
Please post your Rom details.
I used a similar method to root my sgs2 for the first time a long time ago...anyway i had the same problem, what happened was that it only rooted the phone for me and for cwm i had to flash cwm 4(latest at the time) as a .tar file so maybe that will fix it...try it!

Hey bud, If you want to check if you are properly rooted or not try updating script in su or download a root only app like titanium backup & run it. If it comes up with a permission request then all good you're rooted. As for the cwm app, many people including myself avoid it like the plague as it can have incompatibility problems with "cwm recovery" which is different to the "cwm app". If you must have it you can download from the playstore, but make sure you flash zips through recovery not the app.
CWM is part of the kernel, so if you want it you must flash such one like CF-Root or Siyah.

And where can i a "original stock kernel" for a german Galaxy SII (IML74K.XWLPI) ?
Thanks for ur helpful replies, I was able to download CWM and reflash it using Odin, however when I tried installing new ROMs using CWM recovery mode, the phone wouldnt start, although that when I finish installing the .zip file everything seems to be done correctly, but my phone just wouldnt launch, when I turn it on I get the Samsung GT-i9100 and the yellow ( ! ) mark cause I didnt flash a secure kernel yet, then its gets stuck on the resurrection remix loading phase
Any inputs guys ? regarding I was able to restore the stock rom and launch the phone regularly, but now I can not :crying:
Can you get to recovery or download mode?
You can find at http://androidfirmwares.net/
U can check root by root checker app at play store.

Little help please

Could do with a little advise. I have rooted in the past, most recently my HTC desire. I used to flash roms all the time.
Anyway I have decided to root my s2 and I am having problems. I root view odien and everything goes fine but when it reboots everything is the same and have no root access? any ideas?
If it helps I did the manual ics update a while back, don't know if that has anything to do with it?
Thanks

You're not really explaining the steps you took to root. Flashing a CF-Root kernel through Odin would usually do the job if you want to maintain stock ROM. Otherwise, flashing a custom ROM would also give you root access as most ROMs come with it built in.
I strongly suggest you explain further what steps you took to flash. Because root view odien doesn't say much and is quite confusing.

Hello I am also new to rooting,
I did my first SGS2 rooting following Chainfire's instruction in his thread and it goes OK.
Have been rooting 2 more devices since then...
Please describe your current firmware and the steps you had taken..
I have done the above tutorial and I still have the same problem? Its very strange!

You should know by now to post the details about your phone.
I could say flash siyah-s2-v4.1.5 via odin(which gives root/perm cwm and safe kernel).
But I wont til you post the details.....

It has always been my preference to root through a custom kernel... If you do decide to go this way, download siyah v4.1.5 and flash it through the PDA section of odin.
Also, as theunderling said, please post your phone details before flashing.
Flashing this kernel will grant you root + permanent CWM
My phone is on 4.0.3. Kernel XXLPQ. so can I just flash a custom ROM and it will root my phone. Its not like it used to be with my htc desire.
This is the tutorial I followed btw http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/

Do as theunderling and poroto mentioned. Download the TAR version of siyah v4.1.5 from www.gokhanmoral.com and install it via Odin the same way as mentioned in the tutorial link you posted. (Instead of cf-root, use siyah) Do this and you will have root. Then you can flash a custom ROM.
good luck.

If you followed this tutorial you are already rooted on 4.0.3. If you want to upgrade to 4.0.4 I recommend to flash a stock 4.0.4 via odin then Cf-root (or other prerooted) kernel to have root, custom CWM recovery and be safe from brick bug. Then flash desired custom rom. Yes, custom roms come usually with root.

I haven't mate. I downloaded root checker and it says I don't have it.
No you don't. Flash the TAR ( NOT zip.) version of siyah or dorimanx kernel via Odin. You don't need CWM for this. Once you install one of these custom kernels you will have root and CWM and can then install a ROM and whatever else you want via CWM.

Sorted it going to flash the resurrection remix ROM. Says on galaxys2 root.com that its probably the best ROM you can run on this phone. Is this true?

Theunderling is not so much patient for new members
It happens everytime you flash custom software to your phone via PC odin.
Use Triangle Away app from Google Play store to remove it. However read carefully the app instructions before you use it.

im a noob here but did you check if you had the brick bug ? im on 4.0.4 and i had it . did you flash a different kernel first ? a lot of the 4.0.4 have this bug !
I can get to recovery and download mode both and tried to restore to factory data but didnt help...
No I didnt check that yet. How can I do so? I used the "XWKDD_insecure" which I used before on 4.0.3 and worked well before...

XWKDD is Gingerbread, 2.3.5, I believe. It would never work on 4.0.3.
EDIT: just went and looked - XWKDD is 2.3.3, actually. Even older.
You can download and flash something like the latest Speedmod K3 kernel, which should get your phone up and running, and even root it.
EDIT 2: I see by your activity you are currently reading the thread [GUIDE] And then there was ROOT !... well, at the very top of that thread it reads in big bold red letters:
THIS THREAD HAS BEEN SUPERCEDED BY THE CF-ROOT THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
