Got my son an android player yp-g70cyw and I wanted to upgrade the OS. I downloaded odin, a firmware which I got from doing a search on how to upgrade the firmware. this is the name of the file: Stock ROM: YP-G70_XET_G70XXKPH_G70XXKPH_G70XXKPH. I then used odin, everything seemed good. I did notice that I seemed to lose my home, back and menu soft buttons which was a pain. So I then tried to do a factory reset my going into Android System Recovery. I am now stuck there. I can move the selection up and down, but I cannot select anything. Everything I have read says use the home key for the OK or selection button, but as I said previously, I think the home key doesn't work anymore since I upgraded to that firmware.
So, does anyone know of a different firmware? Maybe back to stock, I would be fine with that, just thought I would upgrade, but that has turned into a real pain. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry but the only way to fix it is to buy a USB jig search it up on eBay then you'll need to install the same firmware but for his device nationality (US,Intl) hoped this helped

You are right. You select with the home button, but you have an international kernel on a USA player, and since the home buttons are different, yours doesn't do anything right now. You have 2 options. You can either flash the stock UEKI8 package, or flash Entropy512's kernel with any other firmware (use the Odin package first; then upgrade with the latest zip). If you still want stock, I'd upgrade to the XXKPL firmware (plus Entropy's kernel so your buttons work). It's a lot better than UEKI8.
P.S. no jig needed.

My tab is stuck in Factory Mode. I have tried factory resetting it many times. Clean wiping it many times. (ODIN...Recovery) nothing seems to get it out of this mode. Stupid app that looks like the calculator is there to put in codes (Its the 1st pic in the link below)
Pics are in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322816
My Tablet is the P7510 16GB WIFI ONLY model in Canada.
I have tried the factory reset code *2767*3855# that resets the tablet but again its still there.
Can anyone give me the code to get out of this mode.
(Taken from the other posted link above as I have the same problem) I have an app called factory mode that seems to launch some sort of calculator. I am unable to lock the screen at all now. No matter what lock screen setting I try the screen never locks. Pushing the power button powers down the device in an instant. No more popup asking if I want to power down. I've tried a factory reset, but during the reset it's complaining about not having access to some directory. After the factory reset runs its course I'm back to square one. I'm not asked to setup wifi, create an account or anything.
Please I need that code to get out of this mode.
I have tried re flashing the stock 3.1 and 3.2 through recovery and ODIN
Nothing is working for me.
UPDATE:
I returned it to Samsung and got it fixed. Funny thing is that my tablet is now running 3.2 stock Samsung firmware.
I know for fact in Canada we don't have the 3.2 update for the wi-fi tablet. I must say I was impressed with Samsung's support team and the replacement unit I got back in return.
Can anybody help me out with this please!
Did it come in "factory mode" when you bought it?? Never heard of this...
No it wasn't until recently that it has that factory mode app on the home screen after a fresh reset everytime. I called Samsung about it and they said send it in. I hope they just re flash it or give me a new tab 10.1
Does anyone know how to do this? Same thing has happened to me in the UK. Has been sent back to me after repair with the bootloader unlocked and factory mode running.
I really dont want to send it back as ive already done that twice
i dont know what Factory mode is, but my 2 cents are as follows:
Fastboot flash a custom recovery and just flash a stock rom. that's what i would try first. i would imagine that would essentially format the device back to stock.
That's what I have tried. I used CWM then flashed a stock EU and US rom. Still factory mode. Any other ideas?
Can anyone help out on this? Where would this 'Factory Mode' be set? NVFLASH?

is there a solution to this? i have the same problem.
flash newest cwm, restock to nov ver. stock firmware, let it boot then reflash to newest stock, let it boot.
then finally put the overcome 2.1.1
don't forget to wipe all in between install
it should do the trick.... in theory at least... but hey nothin to lose right?

Do you mean flash an old firmware then let it update itself? Then the team overcome custom rom?
i don't think this will work. this "factory mode" is set somewhere "by Samsung" and is not changed whenever we put new rom or kernel or recovery. it seems to me that this happens on very few instances, but all mentioning it was returned that way coming from hardware related repair "from Samsung".
seems to me there are others who have this "unlockable" issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322816
did anybody took some time to seriously think about this? can samsung be the only ones that can remove this factory mode?
Just my overdue update on this thread.
I haven't been to Samsung to have them take off the Factory Mode. I don't think I will be entertained there for this issue.
I flashed the "Galaxy Task 13 Slim" custom ROM, which can be obtained from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340064
The latest version there as of this post is already Galaxy Task 14, but when I attempted it I lost the lock screen again, hence I reverted back to version 13.
Galaxy Task 13 fixes the missing lock screen issue. So far that's the only solution I know, but "factory mode" still remains even after rom installations, so still stuck on that mode. Anyways aside from that icon (which can be removed), no difference. Unless more knowledgeable devs here can say what advantage are to be in "Factory Mode".
Hello.
I have a problem. When I bought my SGS2, I had a branded software (GINGERBREAD). I decided to update it to ICS. Everything went well, but I played a little bit with Android and messed up some things. My power screen did not appear. Phone was just turning off, while I was holding the power button, instead of showing up the power screen, where I could be able to turn off the flight mode for example. Simply, it was just straightly turning off. And I did not have lockscreen. When I pressed the lock key, the screen just got dark, and, when I pressed it again, the screen went on, without the lock screen to tap and move. It just took me straightly to the screen I had had before. I decided to wipe everything, but it did not help. I searched the Net and found my branded ROM, that I seemingly had pre-installed on my phone. After flashing I hoped everything to go well. Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. I could not even make a call or access the internet. It said, that I do not have access to the network and asked me to put my sim card in, when I had it done. That was weird. I tried to install KI3 ROM, that I found on the net. It restored my Android to 2.3.5 and fixed the problems. But now, when I try to update my Android to ICS, the problems appear again. I just got stuck on 2.3.5 and I do not see any working way to update my Android.
What is funny, even after wiping, on the home screen, when the phone should ask me to type my google account to synchronize and all that things, it just takes me straightly to the home screen. It looks like the data about my account is saved somewhere on PC, and even the wipe does not seem to delete the data. That is rediculous. But this is about ICS only. Gingerbread is OK.
If you could, give me some real working links. I might used some damaged ROMs or something like that. I do not know, I have no clue. I've been trying to fix that since I got the problem, so I am really hopeless.
Thanks in advance.

1. Download a stock firmware. But, register first.
2. Download Odin.
3. Happy flashing.
I have tried to use Odin. I do not know, which link shall I choose. On the site, you gave me link to, there are a lot of ROMs. Which is the stock?
They are all stock. Where did you purchase your phone (location, carrier), do you have the i9100 or other (i9100t, i9100G, i9100p etc), is it branded.
I am from Poland, so I bought my phone in Poland. The carrier is Play and I have the original I9100. I have already tried to re-install stock firmware and then ICS, but I have no lock screen and no power menu. I also have no connection, it says put a sim card in, even, when it is in. Wipe does not help. I do not even have the first-start screen, when it asks you to type your google account data and synchronize. It just installs and updates aps and that is it. That is weird. It was OK before, but it got screwed up.

Like i said, flash the stock firmware. Sammobile.com>register>FIRMWARE>select your device, region etc>download.
I did, I tried to use the older version of Odin (1.3), and it helped a little bit, but I can not still update Android to ICS properly. I just get sometimes lock-up screen and/or a lot of red messages in recovery mode and I can not boot my system up.

I will try that. But, one more question. Shall I use the PC version of CHECKFUS or the mobile one?
Use the PC version, which will enable you to download the rom & decrypt the package automatically. Connect your phone to PC via USB, fire up Odin, and choose the rom package you download with Checkfus in the PDA section. Flash.

Currently, I did the steps you gave me above and now Odin is flashing my stock kernel (at least, it is supposed to be my stock ROM). Stay tuned.
@ REFRESH.
After flashing, recovery mode vomited with a lot of red messages with errors again. As it was a 3 files ROM, I selected PIT and checked re-partition. Should I leave these options untouched, even when it is the 3 files ROM?

I did, but it did not help. What about trying to unmount these directories instead of just formatting in CWM RECOVERY?
Do a full wipe again...select PDA on Odin for rom file...select CSC also and insert the same firmware file u have inserted into the PDA onto the CDC..... It will change ur sales code back to the stock firmware and wipe all the crap that was on there before.do not select any other option on the odin board other than the ones that should already be ticked/selected

I've managed to fix that.
I just had to use a command prompt from Play Store, to change a line of code in one file.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. My phone had froze and rebooted itself a couple of times which I didn't really think anything of until I replied to a text message and put the phone down, a couple of minutes later I saw out of the corner of my eye that the phone light had come back on. I'd noticed that the phone was rebooting itself again although this time it never got past the black boot screen with the "Samsung Galaxy S III" text in white on it.
My phone is rooted however I never bothered with custom ROM's etc. The only thing I did install was a volume hack package to increase the speaker volume as I kept missing calls because it was too quiet, this had been installed for months and I'd never had any problems with it.
The phone is running 'Stock Ice Cream Sandwich'.
Samsung told me that it sounds like the phone needs to be reflashed but because the phone had been rooted, they wouldn't touch it.
Is my phone now completely knackered? Is there anything I can do myself to get it to work again?
I might also add that I only have access to a Mac computer.
I'd be very grateful to anyone that could help me out as I'm now poor and can't really afford to lose the cash I paid out for this phone. :crying:
Thank you in advance. :good:
If you flashed a custom recovery when you rooted then you can reflash the latest stock rom for your country, read in general stickies how to do this. You should really have updated to this long ago, your phone is currently vulnerable to SDS.
If you have stock recovery then you need a pc with odin installed, I have no idea if this is possible with a mac.
The exact same thing happened to me a few months ago, the system partition just corrupted for no apparent reason - I just went to recovery and rolled back to a nandroid I'd made a few days earlier - it's been fine ever since.

If you have already rooted your phone, you can easily flash the latest firmware corresponding to your country. This is the same way.
Your data were backup on your computer for example? If it's, you can start by cleanning the phone and try to restart it. For that, go to Recovery (Volume Up + Home + Power buttons) and do a "Wipe data/wipe cache". (In the menu, you can move up and down with the two buttons Volume et Select an entry with the Power buttun (by pressing, no holding it).

Never mind already fixed it.
Greetings!
I have a T-Mobile SGH-T959, purchased new several years ago. Early on, I upgraded from the stock Android v2.1 to 2.2. The device worked great, no problems.
About a year ago, I decided to switch carriers. My new carrier uses CDMA, so I could not use the Vibrant (GSM), and purchased a PCD Venture, which I still use today.
Figuring I had nothing to lose, I decided to flash the SGH-T959 to Ice Cream Sandwich and rooted it. It seemed to work, and although I had no real use for the phone, it was a learning experience. I'm a System Admin. I love to tinker!
A few months ago, my fiance broke the screen on her HTC. Since she is still with T-Mobile, instead of spending what little extra cash we had, we simply put her SIM card in my Vibrant. Seemed to work fine, although she complained about a few features, and was confused by the root apps. I decided to make things easier for her, I would just flash the phone back to stock.
So, this is where I believe I messed things up. Not sure which instructions I followed, but when you first turn on the phone, you immediately see a black screen with white lettering: "GT-I9000" and immediately after: "Vibrant". From there, the normal boot animation sequence runs, the T-Mobile jingle, etc. Strange, but whatever, I thought.
Other issues: 1) Constantly get certificate errors in the web browser. I've double-checked date/time settings. 2) The Google Market does not update to the Play Store, some of the installed apps do not show in "my apps." 3) Facebook app does not work. My fiance has to use the web browser, which is frustrating with the cert errors.
So, tonight, I thought I'd give it another try. I found a HOWTO on androidspin.com (I would link the page but I'm new here) using ODIN which I followed, and the flash went perfectly. When the phone restarted, same exact issues.
I've been trying to read up some on the boot process, and the differences between PDA, PIT, etc. to see where I may have gone wrong, but I am at a loss. It seems there is some part of the phone that the flash is not touching?
I appreciate in advance any feedback/help. I'd be happy to supply any additional information about the phone that's requested as well.
Ok, android market will not upgrade while on stock JFD (2.1). The GT I9000 logo means you have somehow flashed Gingerbread bootloaders, which gives you easier button combos. Volume up + power will put you in download mode and volume down + power will now boot you into recovery. I would recommend you use this guide to go back to stock JFD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 (steps 2-4). Let me know if you have trouble.

Thanks for the reply. I followed the instructions exactly. Downloaded ODIN, the PIT file, and the TAR file. I verified the MD5 hashes of each. Put the phone in download mode (vol up + power), selected the files as instructed, ran ODIN, everything went OK.
Still getting the "Vibrant" and "I9000" logo. Can't download apps. Browser won't load anything. I'm thinking there's something ODIN isn't getting, maybe the bootloader you mentioned or the modem?? I'm going to do more reading, see what I can find, but feel free to drop me any hints if you have them, since this is all new to me. :good:
Update: Followed these instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990) and used ODIN with "Phone Bootloader Update" selected. Phone now seems to be working better. Just shows "Vibrant" when first powered on and not "I9000" anymore. Google Market is still a little strange. Many common apps like Tumblr, Instagram, etc., don't show up but I think that's because most everything needs 2.2 minimum, so my next step is to go from 2.1 stock to 2.2, and see if I can get Play Store and other apps to work normally. Browser is loading pages normally now.
Making progress!! :victory:
Update
Wasn't having any luck updating from 2.1 to 2.2 with Kies. Kept having driver issues, so decided to go the ODIN route. Downloaded the 2.2 ODIN on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833024&page=49
Used ODIN to flash, and all is OK. Normal "Vibrant" load on power on, Google Play and all normal apps work perfectly!!
Just wanted to extend my thanks to the XDA forums and everyone here who contributes. Thank you!!
I recently went to unlock my phone via Z3X box, my phone was on 4.3 they said to downgrade to 4.1, I followed the steps using Cygwin Terminal in making a custom firmware, I flashed it via Odin and it passed, however was stuck at the Samsung Logo, no usally in this case I would boot into recovery and wipe data and cache, however my Home Button does not work, so I used my Jig to force in to download mode and flashed stock I747m 4.3, went to boot and same thing stuck at the Samsung logo???? any ideas what's wrong here???

Tried to factory reset after the 4.3 upgrade? Sounds like you might have borked your EFS partition with the z3x box, if a reset doesn't help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471421
Some info from there might be helpful if you are still stuck. I know it is for the Note 3, but many of the same ideas apply, though the mount points are most likely different thus you can't just copy and paste those commands and hope it works (might even make it worse if the partitions are that different).
Is the Home button broken or just stopped working after trying to do this stuff?
Yeah the Home button just doesn't work when you press it that's why I needed the Jig to get in to Download Mode, and the phone was fine after trying with Z3X box it didn't do anything with Samsung tools because I was on 4.3 it started when I created that custom firmware and flashed it, haven't been able to get it to boot since that even with Stock Firmware..
Think you might need to check out this thread then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
Sounds like an issue with the downgrade / bootloader deal. No Home button sounds like it might really cause some issues here though. Owning a repair shop, I'm pretty familiar with the S3 construction and it's pretty rare that the Home button stops working. Has it been repaired or gotten wet or something?
the phone was water damaged I just replaced the main board with a new one and the phone was fine minus the Home Button, and I have tried the SD card thing about 3 times now and it doesn't do anything???
