Recently chatted with viperboy about him wanting, and eventually getting, the note 2. As you fellow LTEvo'ers can deduce, this means either dropping support of his amazing work with Viper4G due to selling LTEvo to afford the note 2 on a hard Workin college dood's salary, or simply continued development through a little of our help.
Basically, 30 x $10 = we keep viperboy's LTEvo in his hands still! Not only benefiting us followers, but also supporting the dood.
Just tryin to get a rally of support from everyone cuz I was bummed when I read he was trying to get the note2, assuming he'd be moving on past the LTEvo...
Don't forget about Vin too! Donate to him just because he's so awesome...
So, $5, $10, $20? Whatever you can afford will help keep these guy's around these parts at least a little longer, and personally I don't think $10 bucks is 1) unaffordable on anyone with a smartphones salary, and 2) that outrageous of a donation by any means.

Wow, just saw this. This was very very kind of you, sir! You guys are truely amazing! Just want to give everyone clear expectations... I am planning to get the Note 2 and sell my EVO, only because I can't afford to keep both. I kinda just like getting new phones but I do love my LTE. So selling my LTE allows me to keep living basically lol so long story short, I would spend $300 on the Note 2 and hope to get back close to $300 for my LTE. Weither I get $300 from selling the phone or donations, the numbers ate the bottom line.
If I do end up keeping the LTE, I would plan to still support it into JB. However, with Jan recently stepping down, it might take Vin and I some more time to get Tweaks working in JB as not everything is going to just port over. So please know that as well.
Either way this goes, I can't thank you all enough for the support you guys give us. I don't want anyone to see this as a plea for money or anything like that - its just simple math and I need to recoup my money in some way.
Again, thank you all for being a wonderful community and giving Vin and I the opportunity to share our work with you all. I would love to be able to continue working on this phone. Thanks again!

Just to update, thanks to all who donated recently. Between 4 people was $60, which is very nice. I really would like to keep the phone, so I'm getting rid of my old electronics as well to try and offset the cost. I didn't think I would get $300 from users, which that's ok still trying to make it work and keep the LTE.

Go on Ebay, you can find a Tablet, won't be a Touchpad but you can score one for $99 and there a few for less. Or craigslist....otherwise you are **** out of luck. I wanted a Touchpad too, I'm even on a list to be notified when they will have them available again but I am not counting on it so I just got one off of Ebay for $99.
Looks like you have a Evo 3D, so sell that , you can proably get $300-400 for it.

This is exactly what went through my head. It's not about not feeling bad for someone during a hard time, but pawning off your stuff for money, while still paying a $105/month phone bill just seems ridiculous. When I was without a job, I didnt have a phone, or I used a virgin mobile phone with "top up cards". I can't fathom helping someone, when it appears that they're unwilling to help themselves...especially with kids

I am a loving father and husband but I would sell off all luxury items to pay anything needed I don't care if its their ps3. I didn't have that growing up and they can do without to gets us through a rough patch. He said he wanted it to replace those items for the kids. If his situation has been so bad over the past year or even only a few months, that he is selling off his and his kids things (reguardless of wanting to attempt to replace them or not) then why buy one of the most expensive phones on the market? I too work (60 hours a week) very hard at my job to provide the life that my family deserves. But if I wasn't capable, I sure as hell wouldn't be looking for sympathy/handouts in regards to one of the most sought after items in recent history.
I'm not trying to judge anyone, nor do I know his situation specifically, however, life is tough, you've got to work for what you got. I never said he wasn't truly injured, or abusing the system, or any of that nature, but simply stating that priorities need to be evaluated here, clearly.
You can act high and mighty, and judge me about not caring about, or having sympathy to this particular person, nor people in general, and you'd probably be right. What I've got, I made happen. The things I own, I bought myself. The place I am in life, good or bad, I put myself here. I've had nothing handed to me. I'm moderately new to the XDA world and I have a few questions that I decided to ask in my own thread, as to follow rules of courtesy: Does anyone know the expected release date of Joelz's latest ROM? I believe it is supposed to be Charmander? Secondly, does anyone know if developers will be able to replicate "Google Now" from Jelly Bean and incorporate it future ROMs (I imagine that it isn't beyond the capabilities of the Rezound)? Finally, will the Rezound be able to realize "Near-Beam" technology to transfer data?
First rule of XDA don't ask for ETA's on ROMs, they get released when they get released and its considered bad etiquette to ask.
Devs are already working on Google Now and again refer to the first rule as to if and when it will be ready.
Near beam needs an NFC chip which the Rezound does not have so no you will not see it here any time soon.
Joelz is on hiatus, so no eta in the near future. Believe me, you will hear about it if/when he returns to developing. I have no answers for your other 2 questions. Enjoy XDA.

Nothing. Just makes me lose more respect if that is possible. All that time he kept telling us to donate rezounds to team bamf and then he goes around and instead of doing so himself, sells the rezound to cushion his own pocket.

I used to be such a crackflasher back in the inc days when development was booming
But now I couldn't care less, I tried the gnex to see if that would bring it back but there's no excitement in that forum. this phone has so much potential, but no one wants to step up to the plate and bring out the beast in this phone

Who cares if he sells it? He worked hard on alot of roms while he had it. There are many great roms that hes released, that im sure alot of you have used. He deserves the money. Let him do what he wants. I don't blame him and everyone else for leaving, I would too if I could afford a full price phone. Just needed to get that out.

And on the second topic I believe he met his quota and when you donate something that doesn't mean you or anybody else has any say in what is done with it. Look at it this way. I ask you to donate to charity XYZ. I keep asking you to donate to them, talk about how awesome they are, etc. You donate and make cut backs toake the donations. The kicker is when it comes time for me to donate what they need, I dont. I use that money for myself and what I want and forget the charity. That'd make you happy right? I talk you into doing it but I won't even think twice about it.
Someone spends the telling us to donate to a certain dev team, but when it comes time for him too, he doesn't.
Two sided.
Had he never asked like crazy for this to happen, honestly wouldn't have cared...

I know we hate these threads. But could you please take a second to hear me out.
Dastin1015 has been a close personal friend of mine for a long time now. We've worked together on many projects and he's an all around great guy. He's the powerhouse behind our TeamHydra Wild For The Night CM10.1 Rom here for the LTE and he doesn't even own the device.
He does have good start at getting one but lacks more funds to actually get a good deal on even a bad esn LTE. I'm personally donating $20 to him and hope that others could give a little also to help out the cause. Ill need his input here as to how much is needed but its not too much.
Thanks for hearing me out and if you don't agree with this. Please keep the negative comments to yourself and spare the usual drama that surrounds these types of threads.

Flare on the 3D forum is donating me his 3D, but my current funds I do have are going to pay for the deductible of $100 for the insurance to replace my bricked Evo 3D and my parents are having me do so in order to have a backup device in case something goes wrong again. So after all that I would still need about roughly $60-$80 so that I can hit the sweet spot of $160-$180 which seems to be the price at which most bad ESN 4G LTE's are selling for.
All I can say is thank you to anybody who does donate and a thank you to supporters of our ROM. We do it for free so that you can make your devices better!

Ok guys i have been off contract with sprint for like 6 months and I've bought every EVO (Flagships) since the OG. What I exactly is the benefit of buying retail? I remember buying the 3d for $200 like 4 months after release and I bought LTEVO release day for $608 with body glove. The HTCO is an inferior device imo because I know s800 EVO or beast is coming but LTEVO land is pretty much dead. I may be forced to get The One because all the devs are migrating there... So I'm stuck.

Not dead here man. Not everyone is bouncing to the One. HTCO is not inferior cause s800 won't be out until the end of the year, probably the Verizon "One" will get it but not Sprint, ATT and T-Mo. Sprint lets you upgrade every 18 months nowadays, not as good as 1 yr with Premier but still better than 22 months like the competition.

Theres like 4 teams working together on sense 5 right now, Jamie just dropped liquid and updated pac, nin still has digital bath and wild for the night with dastin, theres evervolv, cm 10, operation jelly, rootbox, meanbean, thick chad g and flar are all still building kernels, super jelly, viper4g, omj's rom, and others im definitely forgetting and theyre all being actively updated except meanbean.
I hate when people make comments like that when their only contrbutions are discussion and picture posting threads..
+1 for youdug. Development for this device is in high gear. There are a ton of roms in active development, both Sense and AOSP. You want to see a dead phone? Head over to the Optimus G forums. There's nothing going on there despite being a higher-specced phone.

Well maybe dead was too strong, but idk... I just don't have the motivation. Since Virus left and now Mikey I'm just sitting on Viper. The Sense 5 looks nice, but I rarely flash ports. CMX and all the others AOSP roms are nice... PAC has my interest most, but sound quality kept me from CMX.1 again. I can't stand not having the latest and greatest either. I want the One, but S600 just can't compare with the big beasts like T4 and S800 eventho they aren't released.
Could someone tell me the benefit of buying retail tho?
FYI... I may not have contributed much to android, but I'm a recognized Dev/Hacker elsewhere. Lets not forget transcendent mugen GOD

I dont see a benefit. If youre gonna be with sprint for the next two years i say take the subsidized price and sign the contract. You can always cancel later and pay the etf and youll still save $100+.

Yeah youd lose both. But if you sign right back up with them im not sure if you could just get the number back or if it goes into a hold state for an amount of time. Idk. Im sayin if youre gonna be with sprint for the forseeable future why not just get the discounted phone. Do you plan on jumping to att, verizon, or tmobile? You can always buy retail while youre on contract so why not take the contract and get a phone cheaper if youre gonna stay with sprint anyway.

Maybe T-Mobile might be worth looking at if they have decent coverage in your area. You can get the HTCO for $100 without signing up for 2 years . I know you pay $20 a month but still seems like a good deal .
Regarding S800. I'm sure its a beast but how much more computing power do you need when you look at the ONE's benchmarks. 12k on quadrant or something ridiculous like that

Does it really matter that the s800 or whatever has better specs? Android)/apps won't be optimized to use it for a long time and its not like you're going to be compiling code on your phone.

The reason I don't want to be on contract is just because how this economy is... Yes I work a good job now, but what happens if I fall on hard times and can't afford the bill? I don't want to be in debt because sprint 4g blankets my house.

Just was evaluating plans on T-Mobile etc and thought about my last decisions regarding phones. I don't think I'm really saving anything with Sprint . 4G in my area is good, 3G still blows, but I kinda feel like it'd be a mistake to shell out $700 this time.
