Hello Guys,
I am thinking about building a basic custom rom for personal use, i know that if i decompile a rom i will be able to go to system/app and find all of the roms apks there.
The default launcher for the rom is Launcher2.apk but i want ADW Launcher(free) do i simply delete launcher2 and add ADW so that it will load as the default launcher when i install the rom or is there a certain step that i am missing ?
Cheers

Hi.
I just installed official ICS on my SGS2 and must say i was a bit disapointed about the look.
I really dont like Touchwiz...
I have tried CM9 and Resurrection lately and like the look.
I can use Nova launcher on the official Rom,so i can create maps..
BUT i cant get the nice icons in the dock, like stock ics themed icons as Phone, contacts,SMS etc...
So i wonder how i can get those icons in the dock, like in Resurrection?
Hope somebody can tell me,cause now im stuck with Touchwiz icons in the dock and they are not nice.
Feel the same

Sammy just blew it. I feel the same, touchwiz made ICS look as last year stuff. I'm very disappointed with the upgrade and looking for a more ICSistic experience
Apex launcher worked for me

Can someone make and CWM .zip Update that places the Stock Samsung ROM ICS Framework-res.apk file where must be?
I copy/paste another .apk over the stock one and now dont have UI, it just Boot Logo, and it freezes there ¬¬
And no, i dont wanna have to Format and erase everything and install the rom again
Anyone can help?
EDIT: I was thinking, CWM makes backup OF current Freeze after boot logo. So then i install the same rom again CLEAN, and then backup it > i select on CWM Restore the current Freeze after Boot logo rom with all data and apps and THEN i choose Advanced Backup and restore the Stock ICS backup but only the system? That will work?
Hi, i just installed a LPQ ROM, but it doesn't have the TouchWiz launcher (Yes, I like it), so i copied a touchwiz30.apk (something like that, i don't know if it's the correct one) in the system/app folder, but when i try to "open" the launcher it just forces close...!!! Has anyone experimented that??? Is there a fix? Or something like " TOCHWIZ 4.5 for ICS"?
TW UI is the default Launcher for the official Android 4.0.3 ROM
If you copied from GB, does`t work. Copy from stock LPQ rom
why do not you try the nova launcher? This is available in the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher

nova launcher is lame compared to tw4.5. nova is slow, and u cant even create folders as u can do in TW4.5 . lack of tw4.5 is the reason for me not to install 4.0.3.
probably he feels the same i do

Sounds like you didn't install the official release from Samsung. If you didn't, and the ROM maker removed the TouchWiz framework, you'd be better off re flashing the official Samsung release, as there are a lot more components than just that one .apk.

See above. Official Samsung releases will ALWAYS have TouchWiz.
So yeah, i just finished flashing latest resurrection remix to my i9100, but i want to keep the stock launcher (trebuchet), is there anyway to delete xperia home launcher (its not listed on my apps list so i can not uninstall it the normal way) and just leave the trebuchet stock launcher ?
Thanks
you can use this to delete system progs and move trebuchet over to the system
or you can just install Trebuchet and use this to ensure it is used as the default

Install a file Manager with Root access and then go to system/app and then search for the xperia home launcher and delete it.
You can also just install the Apex launcher or the Holo launcher HD, they are practically the same as the trebuchet launcher, but with more functions.

So deleting the apk from the system folder will uninstall the whole launcher ?

In addition to what they've said, I've read the RR 3.1.0 Changelog and they said that they've included the Trebuchet Launcher from CM 10. I can't confirm it for now though because I'm currently using CM10 Nightlies, but currently downloading the ROM right now.
Are there any benefits of converting nova launcher into a system app?
Does it make it faster? More Stability?
Inputs would be highly appreciated..
Meh, doesn't really make a difference. ROM cooks usually puts it in /system if they're using it as the main ROM launcher, but there aren't any advantages for a normal user. You can do it if you want to, though

Just download a new launcher (Nova, Apex or whatever you prefer), delete the stock Sony launcher from system/app, and you're done. No cooking is needed, but you'll need root.
Thank you very much , You're a star ,I am glad i don;t have to go to the kitchen
restart
If you do get rid of the stock launcher and u put lets say the google kitkat launcher google placed on the play store in the /system app folder and u need to reseat the device would the os install the launcher in the app folder or would it not touch it so when it starts up there is no user face, and if so how can u put aosp launcher back onto it and where would u find the launcher?
