[Q] help me decide. xperia p vs xperia sola - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

hey all, im currently using xperia mini pro and planning to sell it and buy a new phone.
my target is xperia sola or xperia p. dont tell me to buy other products i only want sony :good:
which do you think is better?
cons of sola i know:
1. sola has smaller screen 3.7 inch instead of 4.0. but i think that would be big enough for me. cause im using a 3.2 inch screen phone for a year now.
2. 512mb ram instead of 1 gb ram. but i think that would be no problem if supercharger v6 script applied.
3. 5mp camera instead of 8mp camera. which is fine for me.
4. weird looking screen. is it just me but the sola screen can be fall of anytime soon
5. floating touch. to me this is useless im not gonna use it anyway. its gonna consume battery. is there an option to switch it off?
6. i heard there will be no jelly bean updates for sola? but P gonna have it? not sure if this has been confirmed or not.
cons of p i know:
1. doesnt have sd card slot. i know it comes with 16gb internal storage. but i heard the real one is 11gb only available or less than that?
2. uses micro-sim slot?? i have been using lg optimus one, galaxy note, xperia mini pro, those three are mini-sim. what is the difference between micro sim and mini sim? will my sim card be compatible with the micro sim slot? cause i dont wanna buy a new type of sim card.
3. most people says xperia p battery life sucks compare to sola, u, s and so on?
now tell me honestly which phone should i pick? no biase answers please. personally i prefer P because it has a bigger screen. but is it worth it to add $90 to go for the P instead of the Sola?

bump

Xperia P looks better in my opinion, what really made the phone stand out for me. but no expandable storage and the battery kinda suck to be honest, but for me this isnt really a problem so i went ahead and bought one. Also your sim will work with the P if you cut it to size, or ask your carrier for one, they will usually give you a micro sim with your same number, and contract etc. free of charge, i recommend going to your carrier, because i broke my P when i put in a mini sim which i attempted to cut to size, luckily it was replaced with warranty!

Go wit xperia p:thumbup:

About 11 gb, but you fill up the rest with apps and such, so it's not all that bad. And I'm not certain on this but if you root and use Roms you could probably get access to the whole 16

Xperia S is better, but it doesnt look as nice in my opinion and it wasnt in the price range i was looking at, and if you're considering the sola and P then the S might be a bit pricey on your budget. If you want specs, get the S. Depends on your usage though, the S also has a better battery life i hear.

Go for P. Of course!
Why? The reason is already you mentioned above.
But i think the reasaon is u must go for P is RAM! 512 mb and 1Gb it's totally different.
If sola get a task, open application, games , and etc, so the ram is almost full, but xperia P still have half of ram free with the same task.
Don't think supercharger is make more free ram. Maybe ur sola can more smoth and fast but it take a lot of ram.
And the last thing is because sony will bring their update first on the XP than Sola
It's really frustated when xperia P already have ICS and we (sola, u, go) must be waiting till 2 months later.
and if u go for sola u must be waiting again like us, for the jelly bean update, just share
Sorry for my bad english.
Please hit thanks if i helped

[Q] An advice for a new smartphone

Hi to all...
I have an Iphone 3G 8G, and a guy offer me to change his Xperia X10i with my iphone...
now...I really find ios and Iphone a good phone..
But 3G is becaming really slow, now I have whited00r firmware and its a bit more fast but I loose many application of the 4.2 =(
So i think that going to android could be better...
What do you think of xperia x10i?
maybe with a 2.2 or 2.3 rom?
is slow like the iphone 3G or is better?
thanks in advance for your answer
This will not answer your actual question
But i would rather worry why he wants to trade his phone with yours. Just guessing, but maybe something is not correct with his one. Else I cant really understand why he would change his phone with a 3 years old one..
Sent from my HsTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Its definitely a lot smoother with froyo and gingerbread and we have flash.
The downside of switching is the lack of true multitouch and touch responsiveness. Other than that its great.
Sent from my X10i TripNMiUI-IRIS using XDA Premium App
ya the x10 feels alot less responsive compared to the iphone other than that everything else is equal
X10 is less responsive and smooth (due to the FPS Cap), further it feels for me even faster then the iPhone 4. So I would definetely trade my iPhone 3g (if I had) for a x10i. But i've already got my x10

Yea, even if it's an iphone, it is way older then the x10. I never really had iphone 3g in my hands, but I guess there should be a difference, even if it's apple..
Yeah but once a stable custom kernel is released in he coming months then the true power of x10 will be seen
SE has been showing a cleaner side lately.
The x10 was a bummer.
But i'm starting to like the new work they are doing.
X10 all the way!
alright well lets compare ...
Display ...
Xperia 480*854 4 inches ... Bravia engine is in the works and trust when i say the colors are even better than the iphone 4 <--- Win
Iphone 320*480 3.5 inches
Memory
Xperia 384MB but with SD-Card
Iphone 8 or 16 GB with no SD-Card <--- my personal taste win but u dont have to agree
Ram
Xperia 384MB <-- win
Iphone 128MB
Camera
Xperia 8MP with great lens <----- defo a win even to other 8 MP phones
Iphone 2MP lens is okayish
CPU
Xperia 1GHz <---- win
Iphone <512MHz
OS
This is all personal taste so try out android and see how it works for you
so the point being the Xperia is not a bad phone unless it has SE stock Firmware haha honestly the Xperia is better than the iphone 4 if u have the right custom firmware on it ... and as someone said before make sure theres nothing wrong with the phone cuz it makes no sense to trade that phone for an Iphone
I have both these phones and the iPhones home screen may be a bit smoother but the x10 runs apps and launches them much faster. Even stock 2.1 is going to be better.

New phone after x10

Hi friends,
I just love my x10.
But it seems my perticular x10 has motherboard problem.it keeps restarting if there is sim card inserted. Service center refused service as my x10 is from outside india.
But i m interested in either arc or neo. But not sure what i should do..
Or should replace x10 with x10.
Any thoughts...
Specially from current arc and neo users...
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have heard but I dont own one, but the arc is a better pick over the neo.
But if you want even a better phone. Go for the Samsung galaxy S 2. That phone has gotten reviews as the one of or the best smartphone to date. When I get to a computer, I will give u a review link. Hope this helps.

I believe sgs2 is the greatest mobile on planet as of now. But i like sony phones and their design more.
Arc is better looking than neo.
Arc has beutiful design.bigger screen hence better usability.
Neo has smaller screen but better battery life.
Front camera does not interest me tht much.
If only arc had 1650mAh battery like the mighty sgs2...

Mine also got a motherboard issue so I bought an Atrix =] All better except for camera (for pics because for video Atrix is better).

I'm hoping for something with 2 maybe even 4 CPU's..
Tegra 2 or Tegra 3.
sgs2 hands down, I've tried it at a store once, it's so smooth. Not for people with small hands though.

Nvidia has already come up with quadcore chip for mobile.
I know sgs2 is better than arc by all respect but one...looks.

If only my x10 was without motherboard problem. I'm kinda miss my x10. :/
I have decided to go with arc. All thanks to the beautiful design.
But x10 fits in your hand so effortlessly.
Arc has great camera. I better not lose my focus. Else i would end up replacing x10 with x10

Sony ion or Samsung galaxy s3?

I want to choose between these two phones. I live in the states so the s3 is only dual core but it has 2gb of ram. Plus the ion you can't remove the battery. The plus slide is the ion is 100 USD's cheaper than the s3 and had 12mp camera ad opposed to the 8 MP3 camera on the s3. Which phone would you choose and why?

sony acro s
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_acro_s-4781.php
i used to believe i would stick with sony...but they are incredibly slow on updates...xperia s and xperia ion should have came out with 4.0 ICS since release...sony (and sony ericsson) has always disappointed with updates and i would expect the same to occur with jellybean. That's ended up being a deal-breaker for me. Also there doesn't appear to be any top developers or root access being up for xperia ion.

Xperia J or Xperia Sola?

Do I need to sell my Sola for Xperia J? is it worth it?
not worth it. sola is better
J is just like xperia 2011 devices. Old hardware, laggy ics. Also the rom on it is like ics for xperia11 not like ics for p/s. Sola is much better, dualcore hardware and will get ics with the latest sony ui and much smoother.
Go for sola!
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
I totally agree the Sola is much better.
Why the Sola is better
1. The CPU is dual core and much stronger on the Sola
2. Sola has a higher pixel density
3. Sola has 8GB internal storage, double the Xperia J 4GB
4. Data rates on Sola are faster, see them compared below
5. Newer bluetooth on Sola
6. GPU (graphics capacity) is MUCH stronger on the Sola
7. More advanced multtouch on Sola
8. Sola is thinner and lighter IF you like that
Why the Xperia J is better
1. Larger screen - IF you want that
2. Much stronger battery

It is worth it if most of the time you will be checking email and browse internet on your phone (just like me). The battery life is good and the screen is good too. And last but not least, the design is beautiful.
Sola is better and faster phone, J is low budget single core phone with bigger, but not better screen.
And V is a beast phone but with much higher price.

As in my opinion,Sola is better than J in terms of performance and also in terms of battery.
Remember our devices use NovaThor SOCs so they have reduced power consumption.
And J uses a ancient CPU as well as GPU.(Cortex A5 :silly: and Adreno 200:silly
These specs are similar to my Galaxy Mini which is nearly 1 year old.
This is just my opinion, rest depends on you.

Xperia J or Xperia U

Got a Xperia U although not really used it yet (waiting for ICS), but now seen the Xperia J for the same price, I know the U is dual core, but then the J has micro SD and a bigger screen, how much weaker is the processor?
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4930&idPhone2=4437
I cant really tell much difference to my single core Motorola Defy overclocked at 1GHz and my dual core Xperia S running at the default 1.5GHz ill be honest. There is obviously a difference but its not a breath taking one thats for sure.
Way weaker. It is just an redesinged xperia 11. Uses the same outdated laggy ics rom. Nothing compared to nxt phones

From the review of miro and tipo (which share the same internal as sxj). People calling it snappy.
Personally there isn't much different between q single core arc and my sxs for normal use. Probably in heavy games. But still I could play GTA on my arc easily.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
that device isn't very good... the same Adreno GPU that X8 has, kinda sucks, and the processor is kinda slowwwwwww
I personally would go for the Xperia U, is clearly faster, better CPU and GPU, the same amount of memory the lack of memory card slot, and the smaller screen can make you think twice before you buy it but belive me, it is more than enought
I was going to buy the Xperia J until I seen the spec. The adreno 200 gpu is very weak and would really struggle with any decent game or even rom.
I now have the Xperia U and if you can get over the fact that the 3.5" screen is the exact same width as the tiny x8 then it is a great phone. The screen detail is very good and the phone sits perfectly in the hand.

Xperia U looks very stylish, but J is newer. IMO get J because you ll sell it for 0,5 y or 1 y for better money.
U definitely
