Been installing custom ROMs on my devices since the Vibrant days. Currently running JB on my Galaxy S2 and it runs flawlessly.
Is there a way to run a single ROM on my new HP Touchpad 16GB? I tasted the dual boot WebOS/Android in the past and was not a fan. I would like to just have CWR (like on my T989) and install Android ROMs. Any drawbacks? I have no interest in running WebOS or any other OS other than Android.
Just ran a secure erase and waiting to flash!

A little OT since I'm not speaking to whether single boot is possible or how to do it. But I have had to boot into WebOS a couple times to fix problems with my Android partition and so I would recommend keeping WebOS around. It doesn't really bother you; you can set moboot to boot Android by default without a timeout. And there's still plenty of space for Android apps.

+1 Word! lol. I just had to do that today due to something going haywire when I tried to do a restore. Thank goodness.
WebOS cannot be removed from the touchpad. It would be nice though.
What you can do is change moboot to boot into android by default:

Hi,
I am currently using a Vibrant USA and I am running Bi-Winning v3 with the bullet kernel1.48ghz but i keep it at 1.27 max when I'm using it for most applications. I have been getting about a full 12 hour day out of a single charge while using Juice Defender ultimate.
First and Foremost I apologize if this question has been answered already, I did use all of the search tools described in the noob video
I have no complaints about Bi-Winning, I came from project-V and I have found both roms great and beautifully designed (with the trigger theme)
For my computer I am using a 27" Imac 2010 (osx 10.6.5 with current update) model with 8 gigs of ram and a core i7 processor. I recently found a program called the Winebottler. I was able to use this program to turn Odin into an Application that Mac osx can run. I am very intriuged by MIUI and CM7 as well as other roms such as Revolution rc1 however without knowing that odin will run properly I cannot try them. If odin messes up my phone install because Im not on windows then I could have corupt files that I could for that same reson not fix via Odin.
I was wondering if anyone has both operating systems or is a mac user with expierience in this issue. I have tried everything I have seen in other XDA formums telling me to use something like bootcamp or a disk partition (on my mac for dual os) but after several attempts I have not been able to get it to work at all. I would really appreciate any replies that might help me.
I was also wondering if the advantages in 2.3 would be noticable to someone who uses the phone for calls, sms, web browsing, video playback, verry little gaming(ocassional basic game like paper toss). I was also wondering if any of the 2.3 roms were fully working for everything but gps as I have a garmin for that.
One more thing, I once tried using rom manager to download and run miui 1.6.10 from project v but it gave me a hardware lock/rebootcycle wouldnt pass the vibrant samsung screen and no recovery or download mode was available. I know that It was totally my bad but that is my one expierience with flashing non edt roms.
have you tried heimdall it is a less buggy odin and it is for mac too...here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
thanks button if i helped
Yes, try Heimdall. I think it's the only native app that will work on OSX. I use it when I'm booted into Linux too.
Thank you
Thank you for the very quick response, I am installing Heimdall as we speak Hopefully i'll be on gingerbread by morning
just be sure to follow all the instructions properly on any 2.3.4 install and you should have no need for heim/odin. of course theres always a chance of a random error. but once you get the cm7 initial kernel flashed youcan factory reset reflash from that. haven't had to odin back to stock and i've flashed cm7/miui and even tried the honeycomb 3.0 alpha rom. that was interesting. just take your time play it safe and go slow
as far as benefits go the aethetics alone to Me are worth the update to gingerbread. though i'm a pretty devout Miui fan the theming engine is gorgeous and the styles are slick.
Stability wise miui is good.
CM7 is... getting better
the Sgs II clone roms all feel solid and fast
and simply Honey is one many would swear by though i personally have yet to try it (really stuck on miui lol)
my recommendation get a few, try miui, simply honey and the sgs II clone (CM7 while awesome is still far from an excellent daily driver IMO) just flash one give it a whirl, titanium backup all your apps (not data) enter recovery factory reset, format system, cache, data, and datadata and flash the next one (fix permissions), rinse repeat till you find the one for you. No need to odin inbetween flashes. also rom manager when you enter it before using it to fix permissions set it up as 3.x to follow with teh version of clockwork recovery your using.
Simply Honey

Hey guys, so I haven't booted into WebOS since the day CM7 came out back in October.
I'm curious as to whether I need to take precautions with anything, Wifi, etc before doing so. Anyone?
You should be fine, I use both all the time... one OS doesn't affect the other. However, I don't know if you ever updated webOS to 3.0.4. It may do it automatically so if that happens you will lose moboot (and some patches). Just reinstall moboot only through ACMEinstaller if that happens.
Dont update WebOS and you'll be fine. If you do update I think you'll have to run ACMEinstaller again.
no probs here
I also use both (mainly cm7) and havent noticed any issues what so ever. Don't know about how updating web os will affect cm7 since I have only had cm7 since the latest web Os update. Works like a charm.
If you boot into webOS, it'll download the update. Then you can install it, then run acme installer to install moboot again. Works like a charm.
Sent from my Legendary 2.2 infused device.
I run both OS's everyday just about without issue. Like others have said, if you havn't updated WebOS to the latest version you may have to. Ensure that you remove any patches you have before you run the update and of course you will lose moboot.
Hello everyone this is my first time posting here and i have an atrix 4g and i am currently running th3 bills beanstalk jb 4.2.2 and i also have mrom cm7 in recovery and i was wondering if i can dual boot between the two, would boot emperiem work if i replace the boot images or anyplace to start would be a great help. Oh and i have a little experience with my atrix so not a complete noob lol. Thanks for anyones rtime and help
I do believe i tried boot emperium before and i got stuck at boot screen and i dont know if this would cause an issue to what i am trying to do but beanstalk was missing something and i had to flash epinters cm10.1 first then beanstalk to get it to boot properly. The reason for wanting dual boot is there are certain things that work on cm7 that doesnt work properly on ics and jb, i like miren browser alot i have used it for over a year but there are some issues with it on jb,ex: force close due to multiple pages or will also fc when you back page a few times
I am currently running CM11 and dealing with a lot of the problems that cm10 had. So tried CM12. Basically dead in the water. Never got past registration.
Very sluggish and the keyboard keeps disappearing. The installation of CM11 went pretty smoothly following the install instructions. Not so with CM12.
Maybe there is something I am missing. The instructions say that repartitioning is not necessary !?!??!
Anyway followed the instructions to the letter. Got the suggested recovery and flashed it just like on cm11. The correct gapps to use is always a crap shoot so I tried several. I even installed without gapps still had problems.
So any help here would be appreciated.
thanks
I have been testing CM12 for a few weeks and have a few of the same problems. It seemed like at first it was pretty snappy, but now it's sluggish, keyboard disappears constantly, and my biggest pet peeve is that quite a few of my apps are now unavailable for this device. They worked before, so it's a bug in CM or one of the newer Android versions. I'm just going back to an older ROM for now.
Hi cosmic_kid
I'm asking these same questions in the cm12 QA and dev pages and not getting anywhere. They all tell me to go read some more or stop being rude !?!??!?!
I am currently running cm11 and only have the usual problems just like cm10 had. i.e. battery, black out, losing wallpaper.
So I thought cm12 should be a piece of cake !!! NOT SO !!
There must be something different with the install that is screwing something up.
I tried the recommended eng recovery and the latest TWRP and CWM. Same results. After gapps is installed things go to heck.
I did try running cm12 before installing gapps and it ran smooth. After gapps sluggish and never got past registration. Keyboard never came up !?!?!?
I don't know what to do so I will download the latest nightly and try again.
I Feel Your Pain!
Guys, I know exactly how you feel. I merged the partitions according to the other posts, formatted cache and userdata to f2fs and tried all the nightlies that came out, but keyboard problems, superuser problems and setup crashes just made it impossible to get anything going on my trusty 8gb Nook (BNTV250A). The closest I got to getting anywhere with CM 12 on it was when I updated the CM 12 March 26th nightly on CM 11-M12 and added pa_gapps-modular-nano-5.0.1-20150315-signed. Play store worked, I was able to get into developer options and enable root access and it looked hopeful, but alas it was so slow and lagging that I have given up for now. I used repart.img to go back to stock, (touch pad didn't work on stock since I had upgraded to 10 touch!) booted off SD and installed CMW recovery to restore my CM 11 -M12 configuration. I'm staying in touch through all the threads and hopefully we will one day have a smooth CM12 on our beloved Nooks!
CM12 is now working very smoothly on my 16gb nook. I didn't have to repartition anything. I just about got rid of my 16gb nook because it's older and slower than the newer 8gb nook. Glad I didn't.
So until there is a "how to" thread on how to get it to work on the 8gb nooks I will be using the older one.
The devs said that they didn't have a 8gb model to test their nightlys on. I'm wondering if they test them at all ???
What did you do to get it to run smoothly? I have the 16GB and it slows down all the time with CM12. I read gapps causes a lot of head-aches so I've been tempted to run without it and just side-load all my apps... :/

pico gapps and Demetris' 16GB CM12 with the Tricker Mod stuff = faster than they day I bought it.
Now I just need 8GB working the same, since I have two of those!
Anybody tried phoenix os in flounder..? They have released a beta image..
If you want to check it out: http://files.phoenixos.com/os/PhoenixOS_Nexus9_V1.0_Beta.tgz or

I haven't tried to install it. But if it's anything like Remix OS 1.5, it might be based on 5.0? So you would need the 5.0 Vendor and Bootloader for this to boot properly.
EDIT: Correction, I read from another source that it's based on 5.1.1. Try going back to the latest 5.1.1 Vendor and Bootloader.
Booting up for me. You have to flash the boot loader and vendor from 5.1.1. So far I'm at the PhoenixOS boot screen. Can't tell if it's loading or frozen lol.
Edit: Ended up having to format data to remove encryption (was previously decrypted) and sore dalvik and cache. Boots, but needs work. Better suited for a desktop, as there are no back or home buttons. Flashed gapps, but play store won't open
Got it to boot by flashing over 5.0. Flashed gapps as well but play store doesn't open. Remix is way more polished and much better for tablets. Also some things aren't translated, still getting Chinese on certain ui elements
Meh, I haven't tried Phoenix OS but I have tried Remix. It's okay. I was hoping for a version that looked more like windows and mac versions. No app drawer, no options to remove apps from homescreen, the phone orientation isn't supported in most apps. Overall, the OS has potential, but right now it feels like IOS with a bit of Samsung's multiwindow. I switched back to Pure Nexus rom because apps like glovebox and launchers don't work on the OS. I'll come back to it once some of those issues are addressed.
