PC didn't recognize my RAZR anymore - Motorola Droid RAZR

Ok so this is really bugging me. I keep my phone on the stock rooted ROM most of the time because I use it for work. Two days ago i started getting random reboots, then I notice that my computer doesn't recognize the phone anymore. (yes usb debugging is on). So I safestrap into a custom rom & it seems to work again. Next day same problem. Any suggestions here, I'm kinda stumped.

It may be a OS problem or USB. Try a different usb, or computer.
Also you can try another usb cable.

Usb debugging

Im getting an issue with my phone saying that usb is connected and usb debugging when im not connected to computer. I took out battery and replaced to see if it would fix it. But my phone thought it was charging and wouldn't get into recovery mode or boot up.. so I had to odin back to stock. Once I flashed my rom again it started saying it again. Im running trigger, so I figured it would ask birgertime about it. He said to plug into usb and unplug as soon as sound was heard. Said it was common froyo problem.. didn't work. Any other answers? Rather annoying cuz I can't see my notification bar

you have to unplug the phone from usb while the phone is unlocked and screen is on. Ive noticed this with all froyo roms going back as far as i can remember.
Ya thays what I did.. sorry didn't specify

I don't have any good news for you, just similar circumstances. Now, I can't connect to any computer. No adb, no Odin, just charging. I can flash cwm'able stuff, but can't be too risky.
Back to topic...I tried everything to get rid of USB connected/USB debugging...format every partition, but no luck. I've heard its a cwm bug. Can't get real answers from anybody. I just started (re)researching this again. I will pm you if I find info...good luck

USB Mode for Rooting ( Charge ONLY )

To root phone must be in Charge Only mode under USB Connection. If it is still in Motorola Phone Portal you will not be able to root. It took me a couple of Hours to figure this out. And im sure some people who are new to rooting or new to rooting Motorola Android Devices will have the same problem.
Yea umm...are you releasing something? Or just being informative?! Lollololololo..I believe this would be posted in the general section?

This is helpful, but the issue i was having is that i couldn't get the damn phone out of Phone Portal. I'd hit Charge Only and within in seconds phone portal starts up and i get the connected and i'd recieve an ip address notification on the phone.
I did some reading and saw that it is in the drivers i installed on the computer (64bit), and i was told to uninstall and reinstall and it would work. Well, reinstalling didn't rid the issue and i think it may be due to the 64 bit drivers.
anyways, i eventually got rooted the other day and so far so good running Alien. I was having a noob moment when i was trying to run fastboot commands while the phone was in the OS and not fastboot... almost pulled my hair out, and then i had one of those "what the f*** was i thinking" moments. I tend to forget little things after a few beers, thank god i'm not a vodka drinker, i'd have a mopho-ing brick

Mass storage and odin

Me and my husband both have Verizon fascinates and mine has aokp m6 glitch..no probs...my husband is plain stock and he's been losing service and whatnot so i was going to reboot his rom still with stock
Now the problem...i can't get the PC to recognize his phone...reinstalled drivers etc...works for mine though...when i tried Odin the phone would go into download mode but Odin would not add it...but will mine...any ideas if why this may be happening?

I'm having the same problem. Does it connect to Odin while on in debugging mode? I was told that if it does to use abd to find out if the drivers are working correctly. Also does it pop up and says the the device has errored and can't connect?

I see this a lot. Sometimes its the cable, and sometimes its the phone itself. I had the hardest time getting Odin to work. It was a cable issue. I bought a BlackBerry data cable and voila! It was working again.

I've tried like 10 diff cables...and they'll all workfor my phone just not his...i don't know if i can access adb on his being it's not rooted or anything...and i can't root it without Odin recognizing it...when i connect it to mass storage the phone itself recognizes it's connected (sometimes)...but the pc just keeps saying it doesn't recognize the device...but once again it recognizes mine which is the same phone just diff rom kernel etc....
I'll prob just try messing with it some more being i was in the middle of the woods at 2am camping when i was trying to get it to work...maybe I'll have better luck...i know the phone got soaked but it was fine till like 2 weeks after when it started losing all carrier service until it would reboot itself
And he thought I'd have problems with my custom roms...ha!

I had the same issue with my fascinate. I discovered it was the cable.(my phone took a bath to. Last the vibrate but still runs like a champ) I ended up using my wife's kindle cable I tried like 4 til the kindle cable redeemed me from ics envy. Also, to get Odin to see your phone and trick windows 7 to install some generic "universal USB driver" you have to...
1. Launch Odin (I'm using version 3 something)
2. Connect phone to computer.
3. Power down phone.
4. 3 finger into stock recovery.
Odin should at this point see the port to his phone.
I had to do try everything til I discovered this. Also have you used mass storage or media sync with on his fascinate? Those are some drivers that the fascinate installs to get the path from phone to computer working.
Let me know if it works

I recently found that it can be more often then not the cable. The cord that came with my phone does not allow it to be recoginized by my computer but my friends cord for her LG P930 works perfectly. I have also had to reinstall the samsung usb driver a few times while changing roms.

Well somehow i got it to work...i plugged my phone in after his and the computer decided to download some drivers and all of a sudden it started recognizing his phone...now i just have find a ROM that agrees with it being i can't use ics being it only turns on if you 3 finger into recovery then connect it to a power source...then it magically turns on so you can reboot...haven't found any solution to that issue except that something in the battery connection had to short out when it got wet

Started with boot loop. now nothing.

Long story short, phone has worked perfectly until yesterday. Looked down, phone turned itself off. Went to fire it back up and was hung up at the "galaxy S/Samsung" screen. I have been looking through every relevant thread that the search pulled up and still haven't found an answer. I have followed all the directions to get it to the download mode and also downloaded the AIO vibrant toolbox/files and tried restoring to stock ROM. At first, my computer (desktop) installed the device and recognized it. Odin also recognized it. After about 20 minutes Odin was hung up on the 4th step. Now the phone doesnt do anything. No power, no screen image, no battery indicator..nothing. I'm not trying to do anything special, I just want my phone to work again..as I'm stuck using my crappy bberry again.

try this, it saved me when I soft bricked my phone.
"Pull the battery, put it back in.
Make sure the phone is still off.
Hold volume up + down while inserting the usb cable.
See if that works." All credit goes to theexel.

Also, just know that your phone doesn't necessarily need to be in the download mode screen, as long as it get recognized by ODIN or your computer, there is still hope!

Sorry for the late response gentlemen, wife is 8 months pregnant... dealing with exorcist like hormones. I tried the soft brick fix earlier and it still does nothing (although it worked on my first attempt before ODIN timed out). I still have a pure black screen with no detection of any phone on my PC or in ODIN (no yellow). I've tried with and without my sd card as well as about every finger combo I have read about. As a side note, before I created this thread, I tried a fix from another thread that suggested I download some kies (sp?) program via samsung... needless to say that is when all this nonsense started to not cooperate. I have uninstalled that. Currently I'm trying to use the AIO vibrant toolbox, but still no dice with ODIN.
**also, since my phone magically turned off and started this whole boot cycle, the AIO toolbox says that the USB Debugging mode is disabled...not sure if that means anything, but I assume that is important?
Samsung kies is notorious for bricking phones. Sorry

Wonderful. Is it fixable at all or am SOL?
Not really sure about all this but you absolutely must have usb debugging enabled to do anything from your pc.

Which couldn't be done due to the phone not getting past the bootscreen.
Did you try theexels advice? I've been at a point where download mode won't start, but I found out it would start as long as I pulled the battery and then without trying to turn it on, put it into download mode.
Also the phone did at least get to the same screen after you used Kies, it only completely died when Odin stalled?

I have quite a few times, but nothing ever shows up in the ID:COM area. The only time It did was prior to the kies install. After further investigation, it seems like that was the worst possible thing to install.
Do. "pull out the battery method" via USB cable. I hard bricked my phone. Samsgun357 helped me so much. Try different computer and different cable. I fixed my problem by my friend 's computer because my computer could recognize my phone only once time.

No dice on my wife's computer. :crying:

lost ablity to connect to pc

So all of a sudden I can't connect to my pc. When I plug in in it charges but can't view the internal memory. I've tried different cables , different computers yes it's in developing mode with usb on.
Like i said it worked last week using pdanet but now it stopped. I've even reset the phone. Wtf.
I've read a bunch of threads here but can't get it to work. Oh Ya I'm running 4.4 stock Rom Unmodded unrooted.
