my phone is already rooted.. i flashed the rom by following creepy's link in his signature as it was showing me some errors when i tried to do it via kies and stuff...

4 hours can be spectacular battery life depending on what you're doing for those 4 hours...so some more information on what you're doing could be helpful. The charging time on our phones suck, I don't think you can get around that one.

Interesting, I can't recall the exact time it takes mine to charge from near-dead to full, but I know it's at least 3 hours.
Mitensheth, if your screen is on constantly for those 4 hours..I think it's normal for your battery to drain quickly.

Search. Read. Read. Read...
Read. Search again. Read. Flash.
Problem solved. You are very welcome my friend!

I tend to believe that AOSP based roms have better battery life than stock bassed. Use Siyah kernel, and install Extweaks from the Play Store, and google recommended settings for it. It will help to maximize your battery life.

I disagree with that. ShoStock 2 gave some nice battery life. This is why people must try all of them

It's personal usage that counts for a lot of the user experience. What I do with my phone and how I have it set up make a big difference. Screen brightness, synching Facebook, twitter, email, etc.

Where can I download this Siyah kernel you are talking abt? Will I have to re root the phone after flashing? Also my phone is not from the country I am in.. will it get locked?

Thanks. Agree. This is what counts in the end. There are other factors that go by the hand with the user. for example, maybe there is one rom which more efficient when the phone is on deep sleep than when is awake, and then there is another rom that its more efficient when the phone is awake. Which should have better battery life? One may think "Easy. The one that handles deep sleep better." But that may not be true in all cases, if you use your phone A LOT, and you are constantly keeping it awake, playing games, surfing, reading, texting and doing more stuff, maybe the one that handles the awake time better is going to be the better choice, because in the long run, you are going to get more juice out of your phone. Just an hypothetic case though.
Is better to try all the roms around and try to be aware of what type of user you are, so you can make a better choice.

I would recommend that too. :good:
A way to compare battery consumption is to see how much the phone uses when idle. For example, leave the phone alone for 1 or 2 hours everyday and see how much it burned during that time. My phone averages from 0.3 to 2% per hour. Use this test with other ROMs as well. Also, at the end of days of extensive use (3 hours or more of screen on time), I average 5 to 6% per hour (Percentage of power used divided by number of hours since unplugged). If you've unplugged your phone 3 hours ago and you're at 75% --> 25/3 = 8.33%/hour.
Use the percentage of consumption in idle mode and the average consumption at the end of the day when comparing ROMs and kernels.

Don't know how fast extremely is.. I used to get 12-14 hrs. on Simply honey with moderate usage (25+ calls, text , few hours on the web and very little wi- fi) If you aren't getting that recalibrate as the post said above.
Also, this is a Gingerbread ROM so the battery life isn't going to be as good as Froyo anyway.

If you have Simply Honey on it then you are rooted and free to flash anything. The first thing to do is go onto settings/about phone and see what version you have and then decide if you want to stay with a custom rom or just put it back to stock. There are numerous tutorial threads here and plenty of people willing to help you out.
Good luck.

Calibrate your battery!
- There seems to be a safety feature in Gingerbread or Samsung's version of Gingerbread that causes the battery to start draining when it reaches 100%. That said to calibrate your battery properly you must do it as soon as the battery full pop up appears.
- Download the app found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1024867 and follow the on screen instructions.
>>>>>>>>>>
The app referenced up there is really simple to use and works great.
Here's the SH thread with more instructions if needed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021383.

I am on Blitzkrieg Gingerbread and my battery only lasts about 6 hours when I am not connected to a WiFi. I use the re calibrating app every morning, or when I have to recharge to 100%, and it does not seem to be helping any!!! I really do not want to downgrade to Froyo, but if that is what its going to take to get 14+ out of my battery, then I guess I will. Any suggestions?????

get to 100%
use a file manager
head to data/system
delete batterystat.bin or somtehing similar its at the top.
Delete that.
It has been said over and over again that on CM7 doing that helps, and it actually does, i never asked why just doing it helps.
I'm thinking its because its a 2.3 rom, buttttt idk.
just do it. nike.

I had the same problem on an older version of CM7 (and older version of honey). I went ahead and flashed the newer version, changed my modem and kernel, charged and re-calibrated...try that.
it worked great for me, went from 6hrs to about 10hrs!

Do this for about 2 days.
Also you may want to try out KB5 modem.
GREAT signal, GREAT battery life.
Everyone that tries it usually has had a good experience with that modem.

My battery is just about dead, 6% to go. I will charge it and delete that file and go from there.
I am on KB5 with the bullet-jvp kernel. Would charging, at night, with the phone off be the best way or should I just leave it on?

That will work, but the method I always use is to wip battery stats and let the phone die, fully charge, and then let it die again. After that, the battery will be much better.
This actually does what Viper is talking about. All it does is simply delete the battery stats. Some say it helps, while some articles have said it does not help battery because the stats help tell the phone how to use the battery to its full potential. Personally, when I switched to Vipers rom I used this then emptied/charged it, froze sense and all bloatware through ViperMod (control?) and flashed the SBC kernel. It has been on for 4 hours now, with reddit and texting, and it is at 96%. That is ****ing amazing.
I taped 2 batteries together and they calibrate well, thanks.
Haha sorry about the typo guys and thanks for the advice ill try it when I come back from work tonight and see what happens.

Before wiping bat stats should the battery be at 100 or close to it (seems like stops at 99) and then wipe. Also should I do this with your stock rom first and then apply the test 5 sbc kernal or can i do it with the test kernal already installed?

It means that when you flash a rom ideally the battery stats are also wiped and the phone needs to "relearn" battery usage stats, plus phones are notoriously bad at guessing battery percentage above 90%. If you just flashed a rom give it a week or so and it should get better.

In my experience.... sometimes. I know that's vague but I have personally seen my G2 act strangely after restoring a backup and conversely seen it go straight back to regular battery usage. Flashing roms and low level system partitions cause our devices to do some strange things, it is completely expected.

Random shutdowns.

My x10 is about 2 1/2 years old now. I'm unlocked bootloader and running Wolf's ROM. In the past month the phone has started shutting off randomly...it gives me an 'Android System...shutting down' message...sits on the screen for 10 seconds or so and then turns off. Doesn't matter what battery % i have left. Often when recording video but yesterday it did it in the camera app and then once checking twitter. Sometimes it can go days without doing it...other days its just really annoying.
Any thoughts?

Hve u tried changing the kernel and seen for now
You probably have done something else your phone will not behave this way. I have an S2 since day one and despite numerous hacking & ROM/kernel change, I have yet to experience anything like what you had posted. Another possible explanation is a weakening battery.

well here are some possible solutions
1. Your battery was faulty meaning the one you bought was faulty bt worked for abt some charges
2. You have to many applications installed running in the background (keep the ones u only need)
3. try reseting battery gauage
4. you are charging ur phone while using applications and games which doesnt give efficient charging
5. Try airpush app to see weather there apps which are ad supported and remove them
6. try another jb rom with the latest siyah kernel which is currently in beta
try battery calibrate app
try installing betterbatterystats app (search on google play) and give a couple of cycles and then compare the log while changing/trying different kernels, and see which one works better for you.
make sure that you are not a victim of the media scanner issue:
