[Q] Dropbox Gallery Sync & Cloud - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to sync my dropbox photos to my gallery? My Note 2 lets me do this but my S3 running JB doesn't.
Also why is there no Cloud icon on the S3 like there is on the Note 2...
Thanks.

I did not find a 2-way sync in DropBox as well, just 1-way up from gallery to DropBox. I guess you could use a 3rd party app like this one.

Thanks, that works perfectly.

[Q] Hi res. picture in Google Contacts

Hi,
Is anybody know how to get hi-resolution picture loaded into google contacts? Everytime I upload a hi-res picture "google" schrimp it so it look like crap if I use as contact photo??
This has asked again and again and Google doesn't seem to have this as a high priority. If you upload the hi res picture directly into the web version of Google Contacts it will convert it to low res. However, if you update the picture directly on your phone it will stay as a high res picture. Unfortunately if you wipe flash your phone you will need to change all your pictures back to hi res since when you resync your contacts it will bring down the low res images again.
Hi,
Yes I know.....I just thought that there maybe was a thirdpart app out that could do the job.............I got nearly 250 contacts.............it is a pain to edit all and update photo, just to do it again afrher flashing!!!!!
Preaching to the choir. I have updated my photos more times than i can count. Thankfully I am on CM9 now and planning to stick with it for a while which should minimize the amount of times I need to do this. I am amazed that one of the selling points of ICS at their launch event was the hi res contact photos but they are not updating Gmail to accept the sync. I suppose they had planned on a greater adoption of Google + but still i should be able to choose the photos I want and keep the synced with the cloud.

Someone on the CM9 thread just brought this up. Haxsync from the market works as an alternative, I've been using it since native syncing was removed.
FYI.

Haxsync is good if you want Facebook photos. I prefer to choose the photos I choose for my photos.

Apps for syncing contacts

I was wondering how well Friends caster did in syncing contacts. I have been using haxsync because I don't use the actual Facebook app much. My sister however really likes the Friends caster interface. I was wondering if I could remove haxsync from her phone completely and use friends caster to to sync her contacts

Agree with dafoxs recommended app. Seems to work best for me. I've used haxsync and friendcaster and they seem to not be working at the moment. I'm on jb paranoid android latest version if that helps.
Edit. I meant not syncing with contacts at the moment. You could use Friendcaster along with app.

Thanks for the input and I will try that one for my phone. I may go with friends caster for my sister since it looks to be a better facebook app than the stock app.

I just can't understand why Samsung had to force S-Planner down our throats... Is it for Air View?
Nonetheless, I'm thankful Google released this. Maybe they should also release the default messenger (SMS) app too.

Theres more to it than air-view. At least for me using exchange sync...
S-Planner at least allows you to reply/forward from the Calendar. Google still has not figured it out. This is essential for me and I suspect a lot of others using exchange sync in corporate environments.
I also happen to like the pinch to zoom being used for shifting from day/week/month view on S-Planner while I miss the pinch to zoom on Google's version :/ - Can't have both I guess.

This hides my personal fb photos only. I believe the op is referring to having every fb friend's pictures in your gallery in albums. I have friend's and pages liked pictures in my gallery. I haven't found a way to turn that off. If I wanted to view friend's picture crap, I can use the fb app. HTC should have left my gallery alone.

It will upload your friend's picture as soon as you log into the facebook app or sign in with blinkfeed. Even with sync turned off in the settings menu. The only safe way, use the web browser.

In the photo albums only. Your contacts will be fine so long as you tell facebook to not sync the contacts. I dislike that too.

Totally agree!! :good:
May I suggest just pictures from the play store as a nice uncluttered gallery app. You can add services to it or more importantly not add them.
i changed to Quickpic myself ... awesome gallery app
According to an article I saw on android central HTC is supposedly considering implementing a toggle for facebook photos in the gallery in the next update.

Facebook Photo Save

Why can't I save a Facebook photo while tap/holding on a picture I'm viewing?
When I click the menu button, i have the option to share, or assign as a contact photo, and even to Dropbox but now on the device.
Seems to be specific for my GS4 and a buddy's GS3.
Ang work around?
Its not your phones....ive had the htc one s, gs3, and now the gs4....its a facebook thing...not the phone. I believe there is an app on the market that will allow you to download pics.

I just assumed because my buddy has a DROID incredible and CAN save them by holding on the photo, another friend with some kind of Motorola running Android that also can, seems like a stupid problem, I know it's available in the Facebook app, i'll check version numbers of their specific facebook apps.
I've never been able to do this on any of my previous Droids or Tablets with the official facebook app. The free-version 3rd party facebook app, FriendCaster allows you to save pictures.
