Rezound, D-Inc 4G, iPhone 5 - HTC Rezound

So Guys,
The speaker just blew on my rezound. I called verizon and theyre sending me a d-inc 4g. I think it seems like a pretty good phone, but one that will soon be outdated.
What are your thoughts on that device?
And now, the big question. I know its hard for us to admit, but is it possible that the iphone 5 is better than all high end android devices? is it the best smartphone out there? what do you think? Having been an android user for 5 phones, what do you think? (i love my ipad and macbook)
Should i get the iphone 5?
Thanks!

IPhone5 beats most high end android phones spec wise... Some say the gs3 beats it but it is a fact that the newer galaxy note 2 beats the iPhone spec wise.
Not to mention the new Android phones coming out soon, the HTC dlx, the HTC J, and the new LG nexus which will for sure reign supreme upon launch.
But.. It's all up to you, do you like to mod or customize your phone? Get an android
Do you like a phone that just works no bells and whistles? Then get an iPhone

I'm not a big fan of the gs3. that whole nature thing bothers me, and i just dont like it in general.
the iphone seems really good. but everyone has it, were xda people. is it too dumbed down for advanced users like us?
after years of telling people to get a droid, not the iphone. should i really go out and buy one?

so get an S3, root it and put aosp on it. whats the problem? also he nature bothers you? .. you clearly haven't used one.
1.) the lock screen ripple effect can be turned off
2.) any "nature " sounds can be turned off and replaced. hell, every sound I use is from HTC phones.. gamma, vector, ascend etc
3.) why don't you like the phone itself though? it's fast, screen is great, camera is amazing, it's thin, and it's just awesome.

I prefer the freedom of an android to the confinement of an i-phone. It's also nice to have a greater option to install your own apps

I just feel like its tacky and overdone, like a ripple unlock screen on a phone? i like it to be a little simpler than that.
I have used one, i dont like it.
I could put aosp on it and fix the problem. but im still not sure if its the best choice.

again, ripple lock screen (which looks badass and is original, mind you) can be turned off. mine is off. It's a simple lock that shows up and you swipe in any direction to unlock it. Again, that nature stuff isn't really apparent at all on this phone.

What's better, the d inc 4g or the Rez?

Dinc 4g is smaller than the Rezound. That is a negative. Well, at least it is to me. I will would opt in for the SGS3 if at all possible. Oh, and one more thing. You get an iPhone anything. And I shall hunt you down and wiz all over that thing. Lol! No, in all seriousness. If all your other products are Apple. Why would you want to break up the "eco system"? Unless you really like variety and phone modding.
But seriously the SGS3 is wicked pissa kid! It is smooth even with apps loaded to the hills on it. Browsing the web is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. You put the proper ROM and kernel on it and the battery will last forever. I have it under clocked and under volted. And this thing still doesn't miss a beat.

Gs3>rezound>iPhone 5> I would never give up my rezound for an iPhone 5. Android uses iOS as a toilet. Regardless of specs android is just too much better than iOS. And anyone who wouldn't take a gs3 over a rezound is an idiot and i dont even own a gs3. Its a better phone period...there's no argument...

Friend of mine just got an i5. Best part about it is battery life. It's really good. He had 2:45 mins of usage and was at 75%. I owned a 4s so I know I wouldn't want the new iPhone. I love my androids. But the new s4 and pro processors get extremely good battery life compared to the older stuff

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but the iPhone5 is a GREAT device.
My girl has one, and it is just so smooth in all its graphic movements (scrolling), transitions, and all-around responsiveness.
I will probably always prefer HTC Android devices for the devs, ROMs, screen size, and Sense UI, but there's no denying that the 5 is an amazing piece of kit. It positively KILLED my Rezzy in a side-by-side app-loading and scrolling comparison. The 5 is smooth as silk.
That said, I can do more with my Rezound, I love my larger display, and we have the all-important Menu key! So for me, I prefer the Rezound.

By smooth scrolling you mean how it pulls system input to the top of ye CpU list, forcing everything else to stop momentarily?

It's better but not even close to sence 4 I don't like it. The screen just really bother me having the evo for a month it just crisp with everything. My pictures look like a turd on this phone. Well my good friend just came over to show off & compare his New GSIII to my EvoLTE. Well let me know after coming from the E4GT this phone looks & feels almost identical. It is bigger than the EvoLTE but it is lighter & thinner which makes it extremely hard to hold comfortably & safely IMO. The screen doesn't even come close to the Evo. The colors are way over saturated and it has a bluish tint to it. TouchWiz is back & ugly as hell. It does open apps and switch between screens with no noticeable lag which is a plus cause the Evo has been laggy for me at times. Overall Im happy with my decision to get the Evo. Think I'll pass on GSIII and maybe go with the Note 2 if Sprint gets it.

I hear people talking about the S3 like some new god of a phone, but I honestly prefer HTC, with Sense. The hardware and benchmarks are so similar, you really have to look at the devices and see what you personally prefer for the experience of the phone. I prefer the style of the phone to the G S3, and the extras like the dedicated photo key, which I use a lot, and the kickstand, which I actually use a lot as well. Don't forget the SLCD2, too.

I agree the evo is better IMO
Also my galaxy note is better also ...I almost went to the s3 because everyone raving about it....hahahaha I'll pass

Touchjizz and the GS3 look like a redeveloped iFail to me.
I agree that the G3 isn't that great, but for most people who aren't exactly super picky like us, will suck up the fact that touchwiz is god awful ugly and use the phone. Much like the iPhone, Samsung is doing a lovely job with the bandwagon advertising. People think the phone is god, people will buy said phone pretending all flaws do not exist.
I guess everyone's opinion will be different. I'm sure I would still prefer the EVO over the S3 myself, if given a choice...I just find it interesting how the screen on the Galaxy phones are always said to be color inaccurate and not as good as the LCDs on phones. I say this because OLED TVs are supposed to be the next big thing with the most accurate color reproduction of any TV to date, plus a sharper picture and best contrast ratio. And they will be damn expensive when they hit the market. I'm guessing there must be some kind of difference between the phone and TV version of the screens.

Yeah, it seems like everyone has said that when comparing them side by side... It's just strange when OLED is supposed to be the 'superior' technology. Maybe it's just a phone thing... on a side note, though, my next TV will definitely be a Sony and not a Samsung. Had problems with every Samsung we've had, and absolutely zero with every Sony.
Thanks, I feel better for sticking with my EVO LTE.
I'm wondering if people who own the GS3 are also having the same issues with text and calls not going through as well as connectivity issues some EVOLTE users are experiencing. If so, we would be able to narrow down these issues directly to Sprints network instead of blaming the phone.

Spring is preparing the towers for lte it's everywhere every phone is having that issue . I lost connection for a day and i just found out that alot of prepaid phones use Sprint towers my friends had vigin mobile and boost mobile and they had lost connection the entire day too. They fixed it for two hours then lost connection. We all at work thinking the world is ending lol. Sprint is giving me credit on my bill for that issue and anyone who calls in will to, i mean no data or signal or nothing but thankfully lte is up just not turned on because they said to me our town has to wait it's turn.

Maybe Coming back to the Amaze from an Galaxy S3

After selling my Amaze and having the S3 for about a month. I am starting to miss my amaze. Here are the reasons why:
I miss the fact that it was more sturdy. I dropped my Amaze many times, and never cracked the screen, but I dropped the S3 once, and the screen cracked.
Also even if I did crack the amaze screen, It would only have to spend $70-100 to fix it (compared to $250-300 on the S3).
Comparing the speed, the S3 is faster, but it's not major fast over the amaze. I think the Amaze was just enough for me as speed.
The amaze is a rare phone, but I like that. I like to be different from everyone else. But it's hard to be different when everyone and their mother (literally) has an S3. I'm just getting tired of looking at them. I like having a iPhone if you have an S3.
Last and not least...The Camera. Believe it or not, the Amaze camera is still a tad better than the S3s , and I miss my dedicated camera buttons.
I also saw yesterday that CM10 is coming along great, and the drivers have just been released. So I am going to give my S3 to my girlfriend for her Amaze (as an early birthday gift). I actually cannot wait to come back into the Amaze development. I kinda miss HTC sense, and HBoot lol
I clicked the thanks button by mistake but i got to say i was gonna switch to an s3 and ill still get it or wait for the next galaxy s or a better htc phone... I also think that the s3 camera is still a little lower than the amazes since i compared it to my brothers s3 but i got to say the screen looked great and size felt good on my hand....
Over all the amaze was the first big thing then they killed it with the crappy htc one s for us T-Mobile users they shouldve made it more similar to the one x
"HTC Amaze - Nightmare Sense 1.6"
"HTC Sensation - MIUI"
"LG G2x - Stock and overclocked"
"LG Thrill - Slim Stock Rom"
I was gonna switch to the nexus 4 , but the default launcher/out of the box is too boring for me... I prefer Sense, TouchWiz, stuff like that.
but glad you're coming back!
And did you know that they took the HTC Amaze off of the T-mobile web-site o:

You are aware that there are launchers and CM themes that recreate the experience, right? Also, look into how to sort of recreate the experience yourself or make the screen look like what you want.
I'M OFFICALLY BACK!! I just score a Perfect Condition Amaze for $100 (it was a insurance replacement). I bought it with no battery or cover. I took my girlfriend's extra battery she had, and I just ordered a white battery cover for $7 off ebay (surprised they are so cheap, due to all those antennas arrays in there). So I should hopefully be fully up and running by Thrusday. Now I am going to sell my S3 with a cracked screen, and the other parts I have, and keep some cash in my pocket
Welcome back. With all the talent we have here its only a matter of time before we get cm9, cm10.1 and wificalling up and running in no time. The guys from cm10 have been doing a great job troubleshooting bug tracking and fixing cm10 for our device.

I still have my Amaze after getting the GNote and will have to agree with a lot of what you said. I like that it is different enough and haven't seen one in the part of Va I'm in, of course I can say the same about the Note. I see S3 like it's a common thing to have, like calculators in the 80s and pagers in the 90s. I love the camera and the dedicated camera button, I have to say it is better than the S3 and the GNote. As far as speed it considered I think it's a close tie between the three, put CM9/10 and they seem to run the same, throw Sense or Touchwiz on them and they have their strengths and weaknesses.
Lol

Samsung GS3 LCD/Digitizer shattered. Thinking about a DNA.

So I had my GS3 for about 3 months before it experienced a 2 foot drop shattering not just the digitizer but the LCD as well. The phone was a good phone, I originally had an Incredible, moved up to the Rezound (which I loved) and then the GS3. What I have learned about Samsung is that the build quality isn't as solid as HTC's (from my experiences). I was thinking about going back to HTC with the DNA.
I just wanted some input from people who own the phone and what their thoughts are about it. Practicality, Functionality, BATTERY LIFE (very important to me) and etc.
Any comments, concerns or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

For all intensive purposes the battery life is the same, if not slightly better than the s3.
And functionality and practicality is determined by you, we can't answer it for you.

Battery life, for me, is leaps and bounds above my s3. I NEVER got 5 hours of screen time on the s3.
Please don't touch my "Thanks" button, it doesn't like you...
Hmm. I am surprised to hear that about the battery life. I haven't read too much about the development of the DNA, is there the whole S-On or S-Off thing that the Rez had? haha
Do you guys notice a difference with the Quad core setup? GS3's dual was very quick and responsive.
Our phone is s on for the time being unless you want to send it to someone and have it opened up. But it really doesn't matter. Only things it changes is that we can't change the splash screen and radios and we have to use an app to flash kernels, besides that it is fine.
And it isn't any smoother per say, but i have seen the s3 get laggy every once in a while, that doesn't happen on the DNA. And apps definitely open faster on the DNA. And very intensive games run better.

I have the S3 and DNA and the battery life is virtually identical for me. Get about 4 hours screen time on both and about 15 hours with a full charge. I have the quad core S3 (international version) and the difference in performance is noticeable. On my S3 (which has 1gb of Ram) I would get lots of redraws on the home screen. Sure custom Rom's/kernels helped but did not totally resolve them. On the DNA I see no redraws or lag. Overall I enjoy the experience of the DNA more than I do my S3 so unless I am going on a long trip, my S3 stays in my desk drawer.
thank you guys for the replies. My main concern is S-Off, I know on the rezzy it made a huge difference (way easier to flash kernels/roms and etc.) Hopefully it isn't as complicated here with S-On. And I'm glad to hear about the battery life. I will most probably be purchasing one soon.
Definitely going to invest in good case.
***EDIT
only thing I am concerned about is not having an SD card slot. -__-
With s on you flash roms like any other phone, and kernels you use an app called flash image gui to flash the boot.img then you just flash the modules in recovery.

Lol if battery life is a concern you are definitely looking at the wrong phone. If anyone tells you different they are in denial. Htc, along with every reviewer on the net about the Dna have all acknowledged the poor performance of the battery.
If you are looking for the best phone out, the note 2 absolutely destroys the DNA. The only thing the dna has over the note 2 is screen resolution.... on paper lol. The note 2 screen is amazing. Honestly just grab one and take a look. Add in the amazing software ( split screen, pop up browser, pop up note and pop up movie player that can all be on the screen at the same time), spen, redonkulous battery life, sd card slot, ability to replace battery and amazing support and you have greatest phone on the market. Hope this helps!

And that is your opinion. Most people consider sense the nicest looking manufacture skin our there.
And show me something like viper tweaks on a touchwiz Rom, oh wait, you can't.

This is why I will never buy another HTC phone, the people who buy HTC phones on here do so for the crap sense rom, and will argue with everyone that its the greatest piece of software out there. I buy my phone because of the hardware, and want AOSP as my rom, not this sense crap.

The battery life on this phone is great. I had a Galaxy Nexus originally and then switched from the Note 2 to this.
If you want to carry that thing around in your pocket all day be my guest but I am much happier with the DNA compared to the Note.

Lol its funny that your phone seems to be the anomaly. Everyone, including HTC THEMSELVES, have acknowledged the poor battery performance. Just look at the size of your battery vs. The amount of pixels the dna is pushing. Do the math man there is reason everyone ( except for a few in denial dna owners) has pointed to the battery peeformance. Living in denial my friend. If you like your dna, kudos to you. Enjoy carrying that phone charger around all day.
If the only bad thing you can say about the note 2 is the size thats a personal thing. Im 5 11 and this phone fits in my hand and pocket beautifully. My girlfriend is 5 5 and she has no problem what so ever with the note. That speaks dividends to how great the note is if the only bad thing you can say about it is the size. Note 2 ftw

Than go buy a nexus.
You should never buy a phone that you don't like stock, because for all you know it may never have aosp. If you don't like sense than don't buy HTC phones, same goes for touchwiz, or any other phone with a skin. Its simple as that.

Umm....no. are you serious? Look at the polls around net of touchwiz vs. Sense vs. stock. Most people prefer stock, then touchwiz and lastly sense. One of the biggest drawbacks of sense is the recent app drawer. Its beyond puzzling. Why would take up entire screen to see recent apps, including cutting away the app drawer, pull down menu and home screen? Very inefficient.

Switching to the HTC One (or any smaller phone)

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

You'll be back. No worries, we'll welcome you as soon as you figure out just how productive that massive screen is.
No, it's not a perfect phone. However I've adapted a few minor things in my life to accommodate the Note 2, and I am all the more productive for it.

Yeah, HTC, and Verizon did such a good job keeping the rezound, and the thunderbolt up to date. I hope that this works out for you. I will say that Ihave htc phones, and this one, and the signal isn't that much better. Plus I have never had this phone go into bacon mode like my 6 rezounds.
Today, young ,men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciences sharing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are just imaginations of ourselves And now to the weather.....

Sounded like he was being sarcastic. The rezound took forever to be updated to ics. I had it months before Verizon updated it. I sold the phone before it got that update. Lol I love HTC but the Note owns the One in real world use. But to each their own

I left Verizon in April this year and made that stupid decision to try tmobile again. In fact I too had the HTC one. I loved the phone, so smooth. I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!

Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.

[Q] Galaxy Sx to HTC One

Anyone here with a HTC one who previously owned a Samsung Galaxy phone?
I've been thinking about the HTC One and would like to know your thoughts.

Thanks,

I moved from the HTC Aria to the Samsung Captivate, S2, and S3. I love the HTC One. There are little things like zoom that I don't like, but overall I'm pleased.
To be honest, I probably would have went to the S4, but the physical home button on the S3 turned me away.
They are both great phones and you should be happy either way you go.

I had a galaxy s2 and and galaxy note 1. I loved them both and they did their job nicely.... But.... I just never like the build quality, plastic just doesn't do it for me. I found myself going back to my old HTC inspire all the time just because I like the feel of the aluminium. I caught back and forth between the s4 and the one. I choose the one for a few reasons: the body is awesome, the screen is insane, feels amazing in your hand. I hate buttons, I lactually like the HTC setup of home and back only. The s4 cool features I realized I would never use, only to show off with haha. And most of all for me, the camera on the one in low light is freaking amazing!! I live were there's no sun, so this is a big deal for me. Hope this helps, and go ahead and ask any questions or concerns, I am well experienced in both phones.

Lol I believe everyone had to go through the tough decision between the HTC One and the S4. I sure did...I stayed at BestBuy for about an Hour before I walked out with the One. The phone is incredibly smooth out of the box, very snappy and the screen is beautiful (accurate). The battery is good but it is no Note 2. I guess HTC kept a 2300mAh battery to keep the phone thin. You won't feel any creeks when you hold or squeeze the device unlike the S4. No doubts at all. I also came from the Old Galaxy Note and now, I'm missing the large display. I don't like how the Note 3 looks so I'm waiting for the HTC One Max!

HTC One for $120 instead of S4's $150 upgrade price.

It looks better, it feels better, it's more responsive, the screen looks better to me, the audio is better, camera is good(not quite as good as s4). Sense is better to me than tw.
Play with them both. I'd be surprised if you like the s4 better. They're both good phones though. I just think the one is better.

Our recoveries are all fine. The only issue is if you update your hboot you might have trouble with s-off. But right now there are ways around it. All is good over here and we can use all the international roms as well.

I had the One a couple months ago for a while, have an S4 now. If the two phones could procreate and make one phone with the best features from both, it would be the best. Loved the audio and metal frame of the One, but no removable battery and no MicroSD. I think the S4 runs a lot more smoothly, and has more flexibility with the SD, but rear speaker makes sound quallity ridiculous. Also my biggest complaint right now with Samsung is the MF3 update that locked down the bootloader (aka no custom ROMs). HTC gives you instructions on their website to unlock the bootloader (unless something has changed since I had my One). Albeit I'm still preferring the S4.

I'm not sure how you figure the s4 is smoother. It's definitely got lag and it's choppy. The one does not lag and it's not choppy. I've had both and the one is far better in transitions and feel.
You are right about not having removable battery or sd card. I do miss those from my galaxy devices. That and the button placement are my only complaints with the one.

The One feels much smoother than the S4. Not saying the S4 is slow...but it doesn't feel as snappy as the One. Maybe because all those touchwiz features are memory hoggers.

I found the OS sluggish on the One. I do have to specify I never had the stock rom though. When I got the phone it had been rooted and flashed, although I had installed a rom that was supposedly "stock" with just upgraded kernel. Maybe I didn't get the same experience as you because of that.
Also I forgot to mention the lack of a home button. Ridiculous. I tried the logo2home mod but that's still IMO a major design flaw of the One.
